It never became overpowering or faded into the background or tasted artificial.The true star of the meal, however, was the lox croissant sandwich. It was absolutely stellar and one of the best savory pastries we've had in a long time.The coffee was just okay, but that was fine because the pastries completely stole the show. The staff worked quickly despite the steady stream of customers. There is a bit of seating both indoors and outdoors, although most people seemed to be taking their orders to go ,perhaps because of the weather. If you're visiting, come for the pastries. These goodies would be perfect for a bridal shower, a wedding or just a nice tea party. Completely stunning. I wanted to start my first visit here with something classic so I ordered the chocolate chip cookie and the peanut butter cookie. I was planning on taking them to go and share them with my husband. If I did stay to enjoy my pastry, I would have tried the banana pudding. I would have wanted to have the whole experience of having it in the venue with a tea. My husband and I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. It was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I do wish there were more chocolate chips in the cookie. We felt like we ate more of the cookie without the chocolate than with. We both do look forward to trying the peanut butter cookie later. We ended up with: * A raspberry scone - very dry and crumbly * A cinnamon roll - equally dry and lacking moisture * A savory milk bun - you guessed it, dry as well. There was no offer to warm anything up, which would have helped at least a little. In my opinion, if a place is only open three days a week and caters to a limited window, the baked goods should be exceptionally fresh and worth the hype and trek. These felt more like yesterday's leftovers than anything made that morning. Disappointing experience overall--we won't be back. We have no issue driving to Boise for good food but this was not worth the drive. Wasted $16 plus tip for nothing good.

Bricks and mortar charming, welcoming, delightful bakery (think along the lines of a neighborhood…read moreboulangerie) Glutonia is a metamorphosis from a home delivery weekly bread subscription service by owners Krissa Wrigley and Wyatt Werner.  The bakery opened sometime in later 2025 and although my husband and I are local-food-focused-folks (I detest the word foodie), it wasn't until we received two "you HAVE to go" recommendations a month or so ago from people whose opinion we trust that we made the long'ish drive from our front door to theirs and braved the bear that is street parking in this West Boise neighborhood for our first purchases, We have been back several times. EXCELLENCE: We are hooked!  The pastries, sweet and savory, are delicious and their high hydration sourdough breads are fantabulous (think in the style of Tartine).   We are particularly fans of their miche loaf called Sasquatch and they will sell this tasty behemoth in full, half or quarter loaf as you choose and they'll hand slice the quarter loaf (the size we choose) if you ask them to.  The baguette are "parfaite" for grab and go style sandwiches to make at home (think jambon beurre). One day when we popped in we managed to get the last of their sandwich creations that day with brie and prosciutto on the baguette. Our pastry favs iare lemony Amalfi and also cardamon delight Andromeda, both in snail form but every pastry has been so worth the calories! I think we've tried them all.   GASTONIA'S DIFFERENCE: There are several sourdough'ish bakeries in the area. Sometimes it is best to let owners speak for themselves for what makes theirs unique.  Here is what Glutonia's owners have to say:  "Our breads are "sourdough," but we don't love that term. We like to think of them as "naturally fermented." The distinction is that we don't make a very sour sourdough. It's kinda tangy, sure, but we want the grain to be the star of the show. And we don't want folks to have to test the structural integrity of their dental work just to get a bite of bread. Sour often equates to chewy, and we're aiming for more edible, neutral tasting bread that you can eat however you choose. It's a pretty tough needle to thread, and we're mighty proud of our results." "WELCOME IN": The people who work here are so welcoming and gracious.  I wish it was in my neighborhood! EXTRAS:  *They have a small coffee set up and the coffee is good. *They sell Boise located Peanut Shop peanut butter and also local (Emmett) grower Waterwheel's fruit jams.  *A few times a year they offer a 4-tray of take and bake cinnamon rolls, We gave those a try with outstanding outcome on Mother's Day. PIZZA EVENINGS: On Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 4:00 and 7:00 you can pick up a pizza if you pre-order it. They offer pepperoni and Margherita and, I think, sometimes a special of the week. You have to go in to place the order (and tell them when you want to pick it up) because they have no phone or online order mechanism. There have been people ordering on mornings I was in for pick up later. I have it on good authority from someone who lives within walking distance and is a frequent eater of their pizza that it is great. PARKING:  Aforementioned bear of a thing on street here.  There is a parking lot in the back of the shops in this new mixed use (retail down, apartments up) building but it often seems full on weekends and some times mid week as it is also parking for the apartment complex.  SEATING:  No space inside for seating but there is a nice patio outside with three 4-top tables that have attached seats and umbrellas for protection from sun or rain. ACCESSIBILITY:  Plenty of clear floor space inside for a wheelchair user to place an order. They do not provide a wheelchair accessible seating space at any of the tables. (They should given ADA requires that IF you are providing seating for customers THEN some of that seating must be accessible to wheelchair users so that they have equal access.)  No ADA parking on street (ACHD's eror because it is required by 1990 ADA law.)  There are two accessible parking spots, one van accessible, in the lot behind the building. Route to the bakery from there is easy alongside the building.  I have a proverbial dog in this hunt since I have had multiple sclerosis since college days.

My daughter--who regularly handles ACTUAL emergencies--was so startled and embarrassed that she simply turned around and left... still crêpe-less. So instead of a relaxing day off treat, she got yelled at by a crêpe sentry. Not exactly the customer experience we were hoping for. Mike Burr, who is a chef, apparently initiated his interest in sourdough starter bread baking when living in Eastern Europe for a while and it led to the creation of these wonderful baked treats; breads and sweet and savory pastries, to feed all of us when he moved to Boise. THE SPACE: This is a small one so there are one or two 2-top tables inside and a bench outside to sit at if you want to eat there. Take away is your best bet but be aware that lines on Saturday can be long and for all three days they are open (Thu, Fri, Sat) they can sell out, so going earlier rather than later in the day is also the best option. THE EATS & SERVICE: Get in line, order at the counter from the splendid array of sweet and savory pastries in cases on two sides and from the assortment of bread on the racks straight ahead. There are some specialty loaves offered on certain days, like the rosemary and olive loaf on Saturdays. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. I just learned that Burread has pizza dough available to buy and that will be on my list to try next time I'm in.
