This is a decent breakfast joint. It was very clean and the entire staff was kind and welcoming. The food was good nothing outstanding but just good. I would definitely go back.

When we immediately walked in we were greeted by staff. To me that's important regardless if you have a wait or not. Once we got seated only took a few moments for our waitress to come over. We asked questions about items and she was very knowledgeable answering them. Food was splendid and wjll def return in the future.

Always a good place to grab a bite whether it's breakfast or lunch. Portions are large and service is fast. There is usually plenty of seating unless you go on the weekends, then you may have a wait. Place is open and airy and a mix of tables and booths. Have a four star for today's visit because our waitress rushed me to make a decision on my order rather than coming back in a few minutes.

We love Pops Diner and get their breakfast on a regular basis. I haven't really tried their lunch food yet so I can only speak for the breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Everything seems like it's cooked with love and the recipes were put together by a mastermind. I highly recommend that you check out Pops Diner.

I've been looking forward to coming to Pops Diner for a few months. Finally, I fitted into my calendar decided to go to have a birthday breakfast before going to enjoy a spa day!! Being I was by myself, I sat at the counter. It took a minute for me to be greeted at the counter. I ended up being greeted by the hostess, because she realized that no one had came over after that it was smooth sailing. The restaurant wasn't too busy. There was one other person at the counter, and a few tables were filled. it was a Friday during a work week so I guess I wouldn't expect it to be too busy. I have been wanting to try the bananas, foster French toast I also ordered bacon and the home fries that apparently everybody loves and recommends. The French toast was very good perfectly grilled the bananas foster sauce was really tasty. The crispy or crunchy pecans was the icing on the cake. I was not impressed with the home fries. It reminded me of like mashed potatoes that had been fried. They were very mushy inconsistency and didn't have too much flavor. Not to mention I thought they were a little overpriced for potatoes. I did notice that the person that was sitting at the end of the counter was there before I got there, and her food was already sitting there. Not much of her food had been eaten and not once did anybody go over and speak to her or check on her at all . She did end up leaving. I don't know what transpired but I just know that the whole time I was there she was not checked on via waitress at all and I was checked on at least 3 to 4 times. Maybe it's none of my business, but it's something that I noticed when I'm in a restaurant. Funny thing is I ran into another birthday twin wearing a princess crown while eating my breakfast so I decided to treat my birthday twin to her breakfast. She was a young girl I would say she probably was turning five or six happy birthday to my birthday twin don't know your name, but I hope you enjoyed your day. I definitely would go back because it is a cute little restaurant. I would probably not order the potatoes again because those were not as good.

I had high expectations because I was told how great this place was. They are OKay. It is small and they only have one bathroom. For so many people in this one restaurant they need several bathrooms. Staff are friendly and service was quick enough for the volume of people inside. This is a busy place. We got the waffles, and they were good. We also got the chicken tenders and fries. The tenders have to much breading. They were not very good. I will not be ordering the tenders again. The fries were OK. My friend liked them more than I did. I am all about great fries so when they are just ahhh. We maybe trying them again and hoping we can pop up those stars

My new must go to spot when visiting VA beach. Beat the touristy crowds & overpriced foods & come here instead. Staff is super friendly, portions are HUGE, affordable. The food is all very very good I wanted to come back the next day I love that they allowed me to sub out my breakfast meat for grits which were super tasty

Hungry for breakfast one Sunday morning before hula and decided to stop at Pop's Diner. So happy that I did. I normally go to the Northampton Blvd location, but was happy that I stopped in. Service was just as friendly as the Northampton location. As you can see from the picture the over easy eggs were perfect. Thank you Pop's for another wonderful experience.

I stopped in for lunch and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness, modern decor, and peaceful atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. I enjoyed everything I ordered. I ordered the BLT and with the She Crab Soup. I will definitely return for breakfast or brunch the next time I'm in Virginia Beach in the early hours.

We had dined here a long time ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the banana nut waffle since. Your typical diner but with great flavor! We ordered the banana nut waffle (fluffy, flavorful) and the bananas foster French toast (the sauce makes the meal) and we're both really happy. It's only a 10 minute drive from the beach and a great pit stop on your way back home. 10/10 recommend.

Food: was really good I had the chicken fried steak skillet the hangover . The sweet onion kinda throws off the savory taste but very good. Service: Moises was very nice and on point this morning. The staff was very friendly. This location definitely got and upgrade . Very nice and clean . Definitely worth coming back .

Pop's Diner is a solid neighborhood diner. There isn't generally a wait at this location but the place is always filled up during weekends. This is a great spot for family, friends and diverse groups. Menu is adequate for most diets, (vegetarian and vegan with request and modifications.) Service is fast and friendly. Restaurant is clean and sanitized thoroughly. Award winning waffles and burgers. Multi-flavored mimosas, coffee and juices offered. Breakfast is served up hot and everything taste decent.

I think that I might have found my new brunch spot in the area! As some might know, brunch probably is my favorite meal because you get the best of both worlds (breakfast and lunch) with alcoholic beverages. Pop's reminds me of a non-chain version of Denny's BUT with WAAAAAAY better food. For my dining pleasure, I went with the Hangover Cure (I think that's what it was called) which was a breakfast bowl with eggs, home fries, sausage (or was it bacon) smoother with gravy. Even if you do not have a hangover, this dish will definitely make you feel better about yourself (unless you are on a diet). Yum Yum Yum. Our service was pretty top notch so there are no complaints. Fortunately for our visit, we did not have much of a wait but I can see this place being quite packed on weekends. From my POV, the prices are pretty fair and in line with what you would spend at similar establishments. I cannot wait to try some of Pop's yummy breakfast/brunch items.

Our thoughts: Service: there was a breakdown in communication we requested to be seated outside and no one was assigned to take our order. So we had to go fetch someone to be serviced. They apologized. We were waiting to receive a steak knife to cut our fried chicken they forgot to bring that. Our server was very informative when asked about the restaurant concept and menu. She and the person she was training were very friendly. Food: we applaud the concept and the risk to infuse various cultures into the menu. Portion size for a $5 side of home fries was disappointing we are thinking it was maybe a half of a potato. The menu is diverse and the price point isn't bad. Ambiance: ok, we sat outside. We liked the diversity of customers coming in. Unfortunately this is a one and done for us and not because we are visiting just because we are food critics and know what we like.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. HISTORY ON AN ONION ROLL | THE EYE OPENER CONTINUES TO TEMPT TASTEBUDS, DECADES LATER…read more By Patrick Evans-Hylton For decades, the Belvedere Hotel was more than a place to stay. It was a familiar presence along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, a backdrop for everyday rituals and seaside routines. Tucked inside was the Belvedere Coffee Shop & Diner, a true neighborhood constant since opening in 1969. It was where mornings began with hot coffee and friendly nods, where breakfast and lunch meant dependable comfort, and where the pace of the beach slowed just enough to savor it. When the Belvedere was torn down, it felt like losing a quietly important piece of the Oceanfront's collective memory. That sense of memory carries forward at Belvedere South inside the tony Moxy Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotel. The new space honors the past without freezing it in time. Bright blue walls set against crisp white instantly recall the diner's cheerful spirit. Large windows allow light to flood the space. Cushy banquettes are a comfortable welcome, inviting you to settle in and linger. The menu stays true to its roots with classic breakfast and lunch dishes that feel familiar and reassuring. Anchoring it all is the legendary Eye Opener sandwich, returned to its rightful place as both signature and symbol. In this new setting, the Belvedere legacy lives on, refreshed but recognizable, a reminder that some traditions deserve to be carried forward with care and confidence. The Eye Opener remains the heart of the menu, and one bite explains its legend. A perfectly fried egg anchors the sandwich, its yolk just rich enough to soften the layers beneath. From a choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, we chose the latter; each brings its own salty, savory character. Melted cheese binds everything together, draping the egg and meat in comfort. All of it is tucked into a lightly toasted onion roll that adds a gentle sweetness and just enough bite to stand up to the fillings. Chef Ray Ray Labuen, who wore the tall toque at the former Belvedere, is closely tied to the Eye Opener its careful steward. Then there are the tomatoes, the detail that elevates the whole affair. Thick slices are grilled, seasoned lightly, and finished with a generous snowfall of parmesan cheese. As they cook, the tomatoes soften and turn luscious while the cheese melts and lightly browns, creating a savory crust that clings to the fruit. They are warm, juicy, and deeply flavorful, adding richness and balance to the sandwich. It is indulgent without being heavy, familiar yet special, and exactly the kind of dish that earns its name at the Oceanfront. We also enjoyed rich, creamy grits and a damn fine cup of coffee. Service was exceptional. - I've been covering the cuisine scene in Coastal Virginia and beyond for 30-plus years, and have dined out at thousands and thousands times. I base my scores on the SAVORY system, which attributes values to six distinct attributes: Service, Ambiance, Value, Offerings, Repeatability, and Sensory Experience. That translates to 1 star = 59 or below ; 2 stars = 60 - 69 ; 3 stars = 70-79 ; 4 stars = 80-89 ; and 5 stars = 90 or above. Based on that, this restaurant receives my 5 star rating. This is based on a visit on Jan. 7, 2026 - I'm a Johnson & Wales-trained chef reporting on food and foodways in print (magazines, The Virginian-Pilot), television (morning shows, Food Network, WTKR TV-3), radio (PBS, AM 790 WNIS), and more. I believe they have a cornhole section and from what I could tell, an area that could be really fun during the warmer months. The overall vibe is so quirky, cool, different, and I just love how it's decorated. The other locations have the same sort of intrigue but in much different ways. I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Another positive is the food quantity, quality, and price for what you are getting. Sure, almost every food establishment had to raise their price, but Bay Local seem to be very reasonable, ESPECIALLY for what you get. I know several other places that have good food, but you are paying several dollars more for what Bay Local offers that is similar (in some cases) but not slacking on portion control and quality. Most comfort food probably has a lot of salt attached to it and not an everyday cuisine. Nevertheless, it was still good! The service was good as well. No complaints or attitudes from the server. It wasn't as busy as previous people reported which was nice. Enjoyed the art on the wall with the music vibe. Would repeat again with the other new restaurants located near the oceanfront. Best to always make a reservation with parking not directly in front of the restaurant but not too far of a walk. Overall 8.9/10

Milk & Honey at Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach was definitely a good choice! After mix reviews I'm…read moreglad we did go. We had no wait time and were seated as soon as we arrived. Service was fast, friendly, and very attentive to our table throughout the visit. I ordered the chicken and biscoff waffles and listen... that biscoff cookie butter infused waffle was AMAZING!! Sweet, flavorful, and honestly the star of the plate. I would absolutely order the waffle again. The chicken drumettes, however, were a little bland and lacked seasoning for me personally. Once I added hot sauce, honey, salt, and pepper, it brought the chicken to life and tasted much better. My daughter ordered the smothered chicken and biscuits, butter biscuits topped with cheesy eggs, fried chicken, and cajun cream sauce. The picture below may not look the most appetizing, but don't let that fool you because this dish was packed with flavor! The only downside was the eggs were a bit overcooked. My daughter is picky about eggs, so next time she said she'll ask for them lightly scrambled or over medium. Now let's talk about the drinks lol. I love a good hot cup of coffee and they did NOT miss with the coffee. Smooth, hot, and flavorful. My daughter also said the sweet tea was really good. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for that Biscoff waffle alone!
