    Breakfast Grits

We visited Pops 4 years ago and we were not impressed with the bland food. Two recent visits have dramatically changed our opinions! Pops has a brightly lit, spacious and inviting room - scrupulously clean. The servers are very helpful and friendly even during busy times. We had the over the top breakfast grits with gobs of cheese - a hearty portion which could fill you for days. The simple eggs, bacon came with delicious, generously seasoned home fries. I had the Best Bagel Sandwich with a light, fresh bagel, Swiss cheese and scrambled eggs. Perfect. Pops at Lyndhaven has become one of our goto places.

When we immediately walked in we were greeted by staff. To me that's important regardless if you have a wait or not. Once we got seated only took a few moments for our waitress to come over. We asked questions about items and she was very knowledgeable answering them. Food was splendid and wjll def return in the future.

Always a good place to grab a bite whether it's breakfast or lunch. Portions are large and service is fast. There is usually plenty of seating unless you go on the weekends, then you may have a wait. Place is open and airy and a mix of tables and booths. Have a four star for today's visit because our waitress rushed me to make a decision on my order rather than coming back in a few minutes.

We love Pops Diner and get their breakfast on a regular basis. I haven't really tried their lunch food yet so I can only speak for the breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Everything seems like it's cooked with love and the recipes were put together by a mastermind. I highly recommend that you check out Pops Diner.

I've been looking forward to coming to Pops Diner for a few months. Finally, I fitted into my calendar decided to go to have a birthday breakfast before going to enjoy a spa day!! Being I was by myself, I sat at the counter. It took a minute for me to be greeted at the counter. I ended up being greeted by the hostess, because she realized that no one had came over after that it was smooth sailing. The restaurant wasn't too busy. There was one other person at the counter, and a few tables were filled. it was a Friday during a work week so I guess I wouldn't expect it to be too busy. I have been wanting to try the bananas, foster French toast I also ordered bacon and the home fries that apparently everybody loves and recommends. The French toast was very good perfectly grilled the bananas foster sauce was really tasty. The crispy or crunchy pecans was the icing on the cake. I was not impressed with the home fries. It reminded me of like mashed potatoes that had been fried. They were very mushy inconsistency and didn't have too much flavor. Not to mention I thought they were a little overpriced for potatoes. I did notice that the person that was sitting at the end of the counter was there before I got there, and her food was already sitting there. Not much of her food had been eaten and not once did anybody go over and speak to her or check on her at all . She did end up leaving. I don't know what transpired but I just know that the whole time I was there she was not checked on via waitress at all and I was checked on at least 3 to 4 times. Maybe it's none of my business, but it's something that I noticed when I'm in a restaurant. Funny thing is I ran into another birthday twin wearing a princess crown while eating my breakfast so I decided to treat my birthday twin to her breakfast. She was a young girl I would say she probably was turning five or six happy birthday to my birthday twin don't know your name, but I hope you enjoyed your day. I definitely would go back because it is a cute little restaurant. I would probably not order the potatoes again because those were not as good.

I had high expectations because I was told how great this place was. They are OKay. It is small and they only have one bathroom. For so many people in this one restaurant they need several bathrooms. Staff are friendly and service was quick enough for the volume of people inside. This is a busy place. We got the waffles, and they were good. We also got the chicken tenders and fries. The tenders have to much breading. They were not very good. I will not be ordering the tenders again. The fries were OK. My friend liked them more than I did. I am all about great fries so when they are just ahhh. We maybe trying them again and hoping we can pop up those stars

Hungry for breakfast one Sunday morning before hula and decided to stop at Pop's Diner. So happy that I did. I normally go to the Northampton Blvd location, but was happy that I stopped in. Service was just as friendly as the Northampton location. As you can see from the picture the over easy eggs were perfect. Thank you Pop's for another wonderful experience.

I stopped in for lunch and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness, modern decor, and peaceful atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. I enjoyed everything I ordered. I ordered the BLT and with the She Crab Soup. I will definitely return for breakfast or brunch the next time I'm in Virginia Beach in the early hours.

My new must go to spot when visiting VA beach. Beat the touristy crowds & overpriced foods & come here instead. Staff is super friendly, portions are HUGE, affordable. The food is all very very good I wanted to come back the next day I love that they allowed me to sub out my breakfast meat for grits which were super tasty

We had dined here a long time ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the banana nut waffle since. Your typical diner but with great flavor! We ordered the banana nut waffle (fluffy, flavorful) and the bananas foster French toast (the sauce makes the meal) and we're both really happy. It's only a 10 minute drive from the beach and a great pit stop on your way back home. 10/10 recommend.

Pop's Diner is a solid neighborhood diner. There isn't generally a wait at this location but the place is always filled up during weekends. This is a great spot for family, friends and diverse groups. Menu is adequate for most diets, (vegetarian and vegan with request and modifications.) Service is fast and friendly. Restaurant is clean and sanitized thoroughly. Award winning waffles and burgers. Multi-flavored mimosas, coffee and juices offered. Breakfast is served up hot and everything taste decent.

Just a side note: It's a bit off putting when there are several signs telling people that they must claim their table within 5 minutes or lose it; and that you only have 90 minutes at your table. It feels aggressively inhospitable, especially in writing on a chalkboard, at a restaurant where hospitality and service are a part of the experience. Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

My visit here was on July 4, 2026. The outside of the place isn't hard to find or see. When you look at it from the outside, it looks more like a tropical type of theme. Parking did seem pretty limited as they were busy when my mom and I got here. Based on that, parking can be severely limited during peak times. Once we came inside, it definitely looked like a tropical theme, which was easy to see throughout the place. Another big thing I noticed as soon as we came in (and remained the case the entire time) that it was excessively loud. It was hard to hear each other, and even our server. I never got over to the outdoor seating area as it was pretty busy. We were greeted by a hostess at the counter and we were immediately seated. With it being busy as it was, our server came over to the table and said she would be back shortly, though it was a bit longer than expected. Someone else came by to ask if we wanted water while waiting for her to come back and we both did that. Once she was able to come to the table, we weren't quite ready to order yet, but I did get the Bay Bloody Mary. The Bay Bloody Mary was good and did have a kick to it, as expected, though more than I thought. It was still good though. After a few more minutes, we were ready to order. I decided to go for The Lesner With a Waffle as the main course item, scrambled eggs, and bacon with Cheese Grits and a Fried Biscuit as the side items. My mom ordered the Jamaican Dark Rum French Toast entree with bacon and a fruit skewer. Given how busy it was, I was surprised that food came out about ten minutes later after ordering. The food looked really good and hot when it came out. I don't normally do a waffle, but that waffle was really good. I only put butter on it as I didn't want to add even more sugar to the meal already. The bacon was nice and crispy as requested. I wasn't sure how the Cheese Grits would be, but they were surprisingly good. The last item I had was the Fried Biscuit. Wow that one was a highlight for sure, though I won't do that one too often. My mom said the entree she had was good too and there were no issues. Overall, this was a good visit. I would give it 3.5 stars but rounding to 4 in this case due to the great food. The biggest negatives were the noise levels, as it was hard to talk to anyone there, and they automatically add an 18% tip for all transactions, regardless of party size. Given the circumstances, the service was good too. I will come back in the future, but maybe not on a weekend or around a holiday where it gets busier than normal. This place is worth checking out if you are in the area and looking for something to choose from to eat at.
