I have lived in this area for YEARS and never tried this place out, I'm so glad I did! It's nice and cozy and the staff is SO friendly. There were so many unique choices that it took me forever to choose but the waitress was so patient and took her time out to explain the popular dishes to me. My girlfriend got a bacon cheeseburger and it was PERFECT. The meat had so much flavor and everything was fresh and crisp. I got an omelette that surprised me because it was cooked to perfection and nice and fluffy. The home fries tasted like NY home fries (my home) and I loved it. My cousin got a pancake breakfast and the pancakes were HUGE! They def know how to do pancakes there because it got better with every bite. TBH, all 3 of us ate from her pancakes and we had plenty to take home. When we visited the second time my girlfriend stuck with the burger because you just couldn't go wrong. I did the country skillet and I swear I savored every bite. It was SO much good but it was incredibly tasty. The chicken was juicy and the gravy was nice and seasoned without it tasting like complete flour. We indulged and split a pecan waffle and of course it was perfect. Omg the sweetness and the savory flavor was to die for and it had lots of whip cream and crushed almonds. The perfect amount of crunch and caramel mixed with the nice golden waffle was every waffle lovers dream. I would DEFINITELY go back! Ditch IHOP and whatever other breakfast spots you're used to because Pops is definitely worth it! I have no idea why it took me so long to try Pop's! At first glance, they can be perceived as a bit pricey for breakfast but they give huge portions. One of the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever had to use. Blood and urine on the floor; blood on the wall; overall filthy. One stall. Use the bathroom before hitting this place up. The food took a long time to get to us. It was good (thus the two stars instead of one) but the service was neither good nor friendly. This experience was excellent. The restaurant was cute and clean, we were seated very quickly. The waitress was very nice, quick and remembered everything. Our meals were affordable, kids eat for free which is a huge bonus, and everything tastes fresh, homemade and delicious! I had an omelette with turkey sausage, cheddar, spinach and mushrooms and its one of the best around. My husband got the Hangover Cure, which is basically Chicken Fried steak in a crispy skillet, it was awesome. My little one had a pancake, which was so fluffy and delicious. Bacon was defly precooked, even though I asked for soft bacon, didn't get that. Home fries are the mushy pile style of onions and potatoes. This is an amazing locally owned restaurant in Virginia Beach. You are never at a shortage for food on your plate. The service is always on point and friendly and the owner is oftentimes there. I highly recommend their daily specials. The only one thing I have found I didn't care for is the catfish because of the way it's breaded. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the service was incredible. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warm smiles and welcoming staff. Our waitress was sweet, attentive and fast! The food came out quickly but it was awful. I ordered an iced coffee but it tasted like pure sugar, I couldn't drink it. I ordered the daily special which was a turkey, mushroom, swiss omelet. The mushrooms were fresh out of the can (Ew!). The home fries were not home fries at all. More like mushy/fried potatoes with onion powder, possibly the worst thing there. Finally the pancakes had this weird chemical taste to them. I don't know how you can mess up breakfast so bad. For the first time, my fellow Yelpers let me down. With the overall good rating I was expecting at least edible food. We ate virtually nothing we ordered and left extremely disappointed with the food. This is on my "never try again" list. read more

My wife and I went to Pop's after a night of boozing. We found out that when you want heaping portions after a night out, Pop's and Tommy's (in Hampton) are the best around. I had the "Destroyer" skillet which I could not finish, and my wife had the egg and cheese bagel, which were both tasty and reasonably priced. The restaurant was also very very clean, which was a major surprise as most places in the breakfast game are usually musty and dirty. There is a person who seems as she is the one that tends to the front desk with 0 customer service my 5 year old daughter went up to her and ask her for the mints that they give out when you pay , like a normal kid always want the sweets but she seemed to have a problem with giving my child 3 mints I watched her ignored my kid as she asked her for it and kept looking back at our table as if she was annoyed by my child this caused my husband and I to decide not to attend this location to prevent having to in a nice way let her know about herself . read more

When I went with my 3 kids they kept screaming because there where hungry and the waitress was so nice to bring out crackers staton she has small kids at home she knows the feeling. The food came out pretty fast and tasted really good. The only reason why I give them 4 stars is because now they don't do substitution for certain food. Delicious diner food! It's a great breakfast/lunch spot with good food, huge portions, and a friendly staff who have a good handle on how often to pop in and check on their tables.
