We stopped in Butte for the afternoon and my wife had a craving for a Porkie, so this time we went to the source, Pork Chop John's. The owner invited us in and was extremely friendly and welcoming... we told him to hook us up with pork chop sandwiches the way he'd recommend and we were blown away with the meal. The sandwiches were great, the fries were enormous.... our 18 year old nephew was thinking he wanted 2 sandwiches, then saw the fries... he can normally put a buffet out of business, but was full after having a combo meal. I decided to stop at Pork Chop John's while hanging in Butte for the day visiting my brother. I had just strutted back out from a 9 day turn in the woods of Idaho and all I wanted was a big fat burger and some fries. My body just WANTED all of that and so I gave in. Pork Chop John's did it right. No regrets. $8 for a bundle of fries, a double cheeseburger with all the fixings, and a 22 oz. of Dr. Pepper? Heck, yeah, sisters and brothers. It fit the bill. For a little ol' fast food joint it did the trick. The staff was quick and friendly--the woman at the counter and I chatted briefly and she apologized for something I didn't even notice, seriously, I have no idea why she apologized, but she informed me that she was new. Did not notice--she was so quick and helpful! Wish I knew her name so I could give her props. Definitely going to mention this: best of all it didn't leave me feeling sick or like my own buns might fall off after eating the meal--which happens to me often when eating fast food, which is why I tend to avoid--definite pro when it comes to fast food, wouldn't you say? read more

I got mine "loaded" and added pepper jack cheese for free. The creator of this work of art obviously stumbled upon something years ago that just works. The breaded pork cutlet was juicy and tender. The onion, lettuce, tomato and mustard compliment it perfectly. Frankly, I was most shocked at the high quality of the bun. I hardly ever notice the bun at a place like this, because it's usually weak and nondescript. However, these buns were very fresh, substantial and delicious. I also tried the onion rings and they were as good as others have mentioned. This may not be considered as first class dining, and the place lacks much ambiance, but if you want to try a unique and delicious local delicacy, be sure to try the pork chop sandwich. read more

I visit my parents and eventually my vehicle had a mind of its own and ends up here. It's a fast food place worked by teenagers, mildly dingy, but clean. I like the porkchop sandwich, and will occasionally switch up to a Double Dog (with Durkees). However, I'm an even bigger fan of the pork nuggets. I don't know what special magic they put in the nuggets or the homemade sweet and sour sauce (besides pineapple), but it's the best out there. I've eaten the "local" fast food favorites living on the eastern seaboard, California, and Denver/Boulder, but this fast food place hits a spot that can't be filled by a Chick-Fil-A, In-N-Out Burger, or any national chain. read more

Passing through on our way to Portland...did some Internet research on what to eat in Butte and heard about this place. First off we came in late near closing and the service was fantastic and quick. Great prices to go along with some awesome fast food. Sure it's not steak and lobster but a nice little meal for 7 dollars. The pork chop sandwich was legit got it deluxe with a fried egg added. The onion rings were top notch dipped in ranch, and the milkshake was a nice compliment to the meal. "The Original" namesake was disappointing... I've tried a few pork chop sandwiches in Montana and this one was a let-down, especially for "The Original." This location was maybe a half step up from fast food and the sandwich gave the same impression. I also had the hot wings, which were sub-par and had relatively no sauce on them. The pork chop sandwich had an irregular circular shape and tasted vaguely fishy - I'm assuming the same fryer was used recently for their fish sandwiches. There are two locations for Pork Chop John's. The original shop is downtown, which is where my husband and I went. You can sit inside at their counter until 7:30 in the evenings and their walk-up window is open until 8:00. The pork sandwiches are tasty! I got a single pork sandwich with the original toppings: onion, pickles and mustard, but they can load it up with whatever you want. Just had the worst experience at pork chop John's I have ever had anywhere. It was dirty and really needed a mop and steam cleaning. It took over an hour to get our order and it was mostly wrong.
