New name LaFontaine Hyundai of Livonia…read more We purchased a car from this dealership in June and it took us almost 4 months to get our title they use the excuse that they switched hands and now we can't get our paperwork and they told us that they were getting it around and then later in the day when we called again it was that they couldn't find it they lie to you they make excuses and they do not return phone calls no matter how much you call or email I would never spend my money there again they have lost all of our future business and any recommendations to other people that we would've given because I would not recommend this dealership to one person even someone I didn't like it's that bad and they had our business for the future but then they lied to us and made excuses and they had 15 days to get us our title by law so we've moved to the next step if you don't want to have to go through what we're going through down by your vehicle here because you will regret it we now have no car to drive because our tag is expired and we've already had two temp tags in the state won't give us another one so now we have no vehicle and we have a child that is 20 months old and had a heart transplant this is unacceptable now we have no reliable transportation and we have to pay the monthly mortgage and when they wanted the title sign for my trade and they were really on top of that but after that nothing don't waste your time or money you will regret it

He is a mechanic and before taking it in, he took a look at it and saw that is was all melted. It is sadly common for the car and we opened up a case with Hyundai. Hyundai said it is likely to be covered if we take it in and get it diagnosed at the dealer. They said in the case that the repair is not covered we would have to pay the $150 diagnostic fee. So We took it in and were told it shouldn't be more than 24-48hrs. We told them exactly what part was having the issue. A few days later after still not hearing anything about it,, WE were told that the part we asked them to look at still had not been looked at and they need an additional $313 for further diagnostic. We tell them we should not have to pay this because we told you what part had the problem, it has not even been looked at, and it's been way longer than the 24-48 hrs. They said they will talk to some people and figure something out and we still never heard back. Our case manager was working with us to try to make it right and at just over the 2 week mark we are told the only way it can be finished being diagnosed is if we approve the $313. Immediately after approving the additional charges they look into the part we told them to look at in the first place and they say that it was the problem and it will not be covered and we are stuck with the bill. We were without a car for over two weeks. Being a college student that also works full time I needed a way to get to work and school and they would not give me a rental car either so I had to borrow money to buy a cheap vehicle so i could keep working and going to class. Please never take your vehicle here unless you want to have them charge you for getting nothing done.

Can't say enough good things about these guys; 5 stars only because we can't give more than 5…read more Here's my take on the auto repair business; there's 3 key things, two of which are very hard for the layperson to access. 1-Diagnosing the problem. 2-Fixing the problem. 3-Being honest about what needs done. 1-Jeff has many years experience and is excellent at diagnosing the problem. Obviously some things are easier than others; e.g., the brakes grind, you need brake pads; other noises or symptoms can be much harder to figure out. He's a master at figuring it out and won't give up till he has. 2-Fixing it. This is what every professional shop can do. 3-Honesty. This is the most important one - yet the hardest one for the layperson to assess. e.g., Did your brake job really need rotors too or would just pads have been enough. Did you really need that new radiator or was it just a hose that was leaking? Did you really need all the tie rods and ball joints and suspension links replaced or would've ball joints been enough? ...etc, etc. Sooner or later there will be times where a less-than-honest shop can oversell a repair for extra labor and parts dollars. And the layperson will never know. This is where the trust comes in. I am absolutely convinced Jeff is as honest and straight a shooter as there is in the car business. He'll tell you what your car needs and not oversell repairs you don't need.

Something was off when I went to pay so I asked some questions. They actually just did a drain and fill. They do not even have equipment to do a flush, but they do not tell you that. You get a drain and fill whether you want it or not. I asked for trans service on my 10R80. The car never left the lift. I asked how they got the trans to temp to set the fluid level. I was told they let it idle for 45 minutes. First off that will not do it, secondly I was in the waiting area and heard the car running. Never did it run for close to 45 minutes either. I asked to have the trans brought up to temp and check again. The mechanic did this and I was under the car when he checked it. It was way overserviced as I suspected. I spent the next hour showing the mechanic the procedure and proper level it should be at, he had no clue. They also do not Iike people waiting for their car, it makes them nervous. Jeff is very arrogant, his employees apparently can do no wrong. If simple maintenance is difficult for them to properly perform, I would question anything else. All Jeff had to do is acknowledge the coolant issue and work with me. Allow me to drive my car an hour back, put it on the lift and confirm the trans fluid level. Jeff chose to never acknowledge the coolant flushing issue and insisted I had to leave the car with him to check the trans fluid level. I would have given him a 3 if his attitude was not so poor. They did get the diff and brakes right, that's 50%, which is failing. I would stay far away.

Each and every time time they have been throughout, friendly, and trustworthy. On my last oil change they ran a complementary overall vehicle check and ended up finding a problem, that if left unchecked, would have been very expensive down the road. And without me even having to ask, they brought me back and showed/explained the problem, along with answering all my questions. Communication during all services/repairs has always been easy and timely. VIP's customer service is top notch as well. When my car had to stay there for a few days, I was offered (at no cost) a ride from and back to the shop to pick up my car. (I lived very close at the time and realize that may be a factor going forward.) During the last repair, they were also able to give me a loaner car, which took away so much of the stress that comes along with having a car in the shop. Finally, if you're lucky, the owner's sweet pup will be there when you come in. :) I have recommend them to so many people in my day to day life, and I recommend them to anyone reading here as well! My son is Autistic and lives in Portage at a center for autism. It was hard enough separating from him to get care now I cannot rely on my vehicle for safe transportation to see him and to top it off I cannot explain to him why I cannot see him because of his mental illness.
