Clean, nice employees, ok selection. However when you walk in, the 'clean' smell can be a little overwhelming and can make it hard to breathe in there sometimes. Bottom Line: Recently relocated to a bigger spot offering a better layout for shopping for beer, wine and Booz. Port Tack Wine and Spirits is located in the same Bay Dale shopping center but they have moved into a new, larger spot. Port Tack now occupies the old Rite Aid location and after revamping the interior they have loaded it full of beer, wine and booze. The new location is more spacious and much easier to shop. The prices seem ok and they are even better if you have a coupon which get mailed out in the local mailers. read more

Good selection of local beers but I was disappointed to not see a larger variety of imported beers and or craft beers from the West Coast. I specifically was looking for a good Japanese beer to accompany some Japanese food, but the selection did not satisfy my needs. Prices are reasonable and there is enough to find a style that meets your needs. The wine and liquor selection seemed large enough to get the job done as well. I hope they can meet my needs by the next time I pop my head in to grab a new taste of Maryland or something nearby. Have a great day and enjoy. Hopefully you have better luck. read more

Location, helpful staff, organized store, always adds checkers when there is a line. The owner is frequently present and always smiles and nods. Some cashiers are more friendly than others. I would have given five stars but since I drive past the Rite-Aid in Annapolis frequently, I do find the prices $2 - $8 higher than the same exact product in Annapolis. Both stores are convenient to me. But Port Tack accepts expired coupons and those coupons are readily available in weekly mailers, so I always use the coupon. :-). read more

Since I just slammed Fishpaw's on Ritchie Highway, I figured I should give a stellar review to my liquor store of choice that delivers quality, great prices and service with a smile. Port Tack and its staff are great folks who will help you find exactly what you're looking for and, unlike Fishpaw's, it's not perceived as a major inconvenience to them. I frequently clip their coupons from the local mailers and get great deals on top of already terrific prices. They routinely have super deals on wine that compare to the low prices you'd see at Trader Joe's in Virginia. And, as I learned recently, they'll take care of you if you buy in large quantities, like cases of liquor or wine. When your hands are full, they'll gladly carry your bags or boxes out to your car. I think I'd have a better chance of giving myself CPR and surviving than getting the same friendly treatment at Fishpaw's. read more

Part of the reason I love this place is that it's in a convenient location. Yeah, I know, that has nothing to do with the quality, service, prices, etc. but for me it's a big deal. It's close enough to home that I can just make a quick stop on the way home from work or while out running errands on the weekend, and I don't feel like I've had to go out of my way. But the biggest reason I love this place is the staff. They're ALWAYS friendly and helpful, and make some excellent recommendations. They've even offered to help me carry stuff out to my car when I've had a big purchase for a party. As another commenter posted, try getting that kind of service from some of the other places in the area...not gonna happen! Their prices are really about the same as everyplace else, but they do occasionally have some decent sale prices. I really just wish they had a website, Facebook page, or some other way to reach out, have some tasting events, and offer some specials like a few others do (Bay Ridge, cough cough). Friendly staff that is always on the floor to help with making suggestions. Good selections to choose from. Not overwhelming. Only thing I wish the prices on craft beers, especially local beers were less expensive. I hate drinking good beer sometimes. Also it's nice to have the tastings they do on the weekends. They should start an email blast for customers of events and specials. Drive even more traffic to a good place to shop. read more

I go to this store almost weekly as everyone in the family is beer drinkers. I bought a case of beer recently, and towards the end of the case I saw that some of the beers were frozen. This happen while at a picnic and we had to throw out 3 of the 4 we brought. One even had the top of the can popped up like Jiffy pop. I went back to the store, told the owner, and asked for a replacement of about the 8 last beers that were left. I said some of the ones that were left were probably frozen as well. Instead of taking the word of a loyal customer, he said I had to go back home and get the rest of the beers to show him. What, Did he think I was lying to him and trying to rip him off for 10 beers? I felt a bit humiliated. The staff is friendly for the most part but how the owner treated me left a bad taste in my mouth. Although this store is convenient to us, I would go elsewhere whenever I can. read more

This place is a whole lot of who cares. The selection is modest at best. The staff is less than helpful, not mean, just not excited to be there. Their prices are about the same as everyone elses. Overall I just couldn't care less about shopping here or not. If it is close to your house sure shop til you drop, if you are good friends and part of some secret in crowd, be my guest. For my money, there is no reason to was poetic over what amounts to being just one more liquor store. read more

Trying to figure out why anyone loves this place. The store is small, cramped, and the staff is, well, unremarkable to say the least. I noticed another reviewer mentioning that he "slammed Fishpaw's" and then he wrote a glowing review of this place. Me thinks I spot a phony. Is it possible that this other reviewer is somehow connected to Port Tack? I mean really, the store is routinely dirty. Their selection is nothing to brag about, and I have gotten attitude in the past when I have asked if things can be ordered. I no longer shop here, I go to Fishpaws. I guess if this is anyone's "high water mark" and they think that this place is something special I could see how they might not like Fishpaw's but either way I wish yelp would do something to ensure that there is some credibility to the reviews being listed. read more

Hands down my favorite liquor store. While I don't need "ambience" for my booze buying it is nice to walk into a clean, well stocked place with a nostalgic feel. Its sitting and waiting for you to come buy it... want great customer service, got it covered as well (that's free)! Over all if it is ice, beer or booze they have it covered ... munchies are there as well, but not a huge selection (its a liquor store in a shopping center with a grocery store as well, so food is not needed) ... definitely ask if you don't see it as they are good about helping to either get it delivered quickly for you or suggest a good alternative. read more

Beer selection: Better than most. They have the usual stuff, plus some bombers of good stuff like Rogue, Chimay, Allagash, and Moylans. They've recently started carrying six packs of Blue Point. Other good six packs include Anderson Valley and North Coast Brewing Co. Wine selection is large and sorted by country. Lots of mixers, snacks and fresh baked bread. Whenever I visit my parents I usually make a quick trip here because it's one of the best liquor stores I've been to. Admittedly, now living in Pennsyvlania, land of the stupid liquor laws, I'm a bit biased towards any place that lets me get beer and spirits in the same store, but Port Tack has always been friendly, helpful, and very well laid out. Though the mountains of beer cases can be intimidating, they won't hesitate to help you get something down, and all that selection has to go somewhere. But they're helpful even if you're not buying much and they were always willing to make change for twenties when I worked sundays at a store in the same complex years ago. read more

I used to like this place alot until they illegally charged my account after they messed up a purchase. I bought a 12 pack of budweiser a 16oz can of bud and a small bag of ice and she charged me $27.52 the purchase should have only been for $14. When she rang up the 16 oz can she charged me for a 6 pack instead of one. I caught it at the counter and she refunded me but the next day i saw 2 charges on my account. read more

Port Tack is pretty decent, much better than Bay Mart up the road. Their prices are pretty good and I've never had a problem with customer service whatsoever. I prefer Fishpaw's since its closer to my house although I've never ever had a problem with customer service there either. But if Port Tack is closer, I would definitely stop there. The selection isn't massive, but they have a decent amount. read more
