Went for lunch. The margherita pizza hit the spot, super fluffy crust and great mozzarella. The side of broccoli rabe was really next level, though. It has pistachios, raisins, olives, and red pepper flakes - it was so delicious and wells seasoned. A real surprise. I had to try a side of long hots, too - $4 for four looong green peppers cooked up to perfection. Slightly spicy and 100% delicious. They have an ok selection of beers, too, but most people were sampling cocktails. While a mimosa might be more traditional, I recommend the painkiller. Their take is so creamy and delightful. The space is huge, so it's great for groups, families, etc. They even have a back room for events (we did see a wedding reception while we were there) and even live music on weekends. We were in town for a show at Asbury Lanes and wanted to grab food beforehand. We arrived pretty early, 430 or so, and it was already pretty full. The vibe and decor are great. My wife and I are absolutely obsessed with Porta. We had our wedding here back in November and I'm just now realizing that I never wrote a review! Wedding Setup: The event coordinators did a fantastic job setting up for our guests. Everything was BEAUTIFUL and the flowers matched our color scheme perfectly. We loved the disco ball ceiling and our photographer got some amazing shots of us on the dance floor. One his photos of us under the disco balls just won an award!!! On top of booking Porta as our venue, we utilized their services for: - table florals - arch -archway florals -linens & candles I would 1000000% recommend using Porta to supply all of that decor. It made our lives so much easier not having to worry about supplying all of these items on top of what we already needed to bring. They were also beautiful! Food: Our guests could not stop raving about the food at our wedding. We wanted something non-traditional where people would really enjoy the food. The appetizers were phenomenal and of course so were all the mains. All of the dinner was served family style which our guests loved as well. We added the seafood station onto our package and that was the highlight of the night. Our family couldn't stop talking about how much they loved having crab legs and oysters. Service: Amazing service. The wedding coordinators were constantly checking up on my wife and I the entire night to make sure we had everything that we needed. Huge shoutout to Elizabeth and Peyton for keeping everything running smoothly. We also forgot the champagne for our photos and Elizabeth made sure to get it to our photographer. She also offered to bring a rental back to a local business from our dessert table because she knew they were closed for the next 3 days and we didn't live near by. She's a rockstar. Our sweetheart table was stocked with food and drinks all night. Value: Weddings are expensive. We felt that we got an amazing value for the price we paid at Porta. From food, to decor, to the drinks package, I would do this all again and not change a thing. All of the leftover food was packaged up at the end of the night and put on a table by the exit so guests were grabbing pizzas, pastas, and desserts on their way out. This was a huge plus for us as we felt we truly got our moneys worth and nothing went to waste. Thank you to Chandler, Elizabeth, Payton and the Porta team for providing us with the most memorable, beautiful and fun day. My daughter has a dairy allergy and she really misses good pizza! We had a delicious dinner - we ordered two pizzas and we each had some to take home (she's a college student). We got the Rita & Mark, and the Summer Betty. The pizza was yummy - the sauce is clearly made in house. They even had dairy-free chocolate gelato! It was baked with the perfect burn where there was no excessive char. This is NOT a NY pizza. This pizza is closer to one you would get in Italy. The sauce was generous and not too sweet. The hot soppresaatta is very much like a good, thin pepperoni. It crisped perfectly, with a chewy middle. The beer selection was also very well curated. I had a nice NE IPA on tap. The ambiance indoors is dim, there's always music playing and the service is quite fast! The outdoor seating gives beach vibes, on a beautiful day it gives those summer vibes and it's just a great time and a short walk to the beach after dinner is always a cute touch! The mozzarella is a little salty, but it has a great bite! I love the calamari, also a little salty, but paired with the marina sauce-chefs kiss! Many times as summer is approaching I find myself craving their meatballs. Homemade and drowning in marinara sauce, I think the meatballs are one of the best things on the menu. I like to save some of the mozzarella cheese and cut it into thing slices and layer it on a piece of the meatball. Between the heat of the meatball and the bite of the mozzarella, it's gives a savory and creamy comfort as you eat it! We also sat at the back bar for the first time and I liked the intimacy of it. I came to porta for a friend's birthday on a Friday night! It was difficult to find a reservation for 15 at a normal dinner time, so the reservation was for 8 pm. We were seated on a long picnic bench resembling table against the wall, which made it difficult to sit up and down since it was one long bench. The restaurant itself was very lively and loud, so it was a bit difficult to carry a conversation, especially in a large group. Nearly everyone ordered a personal pizza and I got the sun tea drink. I got the carbonara pizza, which was amazing, and I was only able to finish half of it in one sitting, so I took the other half to go. The sun tea was also delicious and I wasn't able to detect the alcohol at all. The waitress originally thought I ordered a margarita pizza, but she quickly brought out a carbonara once we discovered the mistake. Overall, if you're looking for a casual group dinner in asbury park, porta would be a great option if you make a reservation beforehand! read more

I loved the Porta Philly location pre pandemic, I was so sad when I moved back to the north to find out that it closed! When I found the one in Asbury Park hosted weddings I convinced my fiance he would love it and we booked our wedding here for next year. We recently celebrated our anniversary and I decided we would actually go check it out in person to hope that everything is just like it was in Philly (and that he liked the food as much I did). This place deserves more than 5 stars I really do not know how anyone would say that the food here is not killer. We ordered a lot because I wanted him to try as much food as possible. We order everything to come out whenever it was ready so we ordered the classic Mozzarella with the bread, the calamari, Monday Night, Wild Boar Ragu, Carbonara Pizza, and Margarita Pizza. Everything came out within 10 minutes of us ordering, it was VERY fast! Mozzarella with bread: 5/5 AMAZING with the little salt on top omg I mixed it with my pasta too. Calamari: 5/5 it was really good! I enjoyed the peppers with it. Monday Night: 5/5 probably one of my favorite things from Porta it is cooked to perfection and good leftover! From the pillowy gnocchi to the vodka sauce. Margarita: 5/5 a classic perfectly cooked and even good leftover! Carbonara Pizza: (I couldn't eat this one because of the meat) partners rating 5/5 it was amazing really good choice for a white pizza! Wild Boar Ragu: (again couldn't eat it) partners favorite thing of the night 10/10 he finished the whole thing! There are really only two downsides outside of the food. One is the parking, they don't offer parking on side and there is a lot of options off site. It was easy for us as we were able to find parking very quickly because it was February down the shore, but I can tell how a Summer month may be hard to find parking. The seating situation was not my favorite. It was picnic style benches and tables which you were sitting rather close to other people. Kept things casual and went with a pizza - I really liked how the menu was broken down into 'Vegan, Vegetarian & Meat' sections. Porta is a hot spot at asbury park. They installed this big exterior tent which was a huge upgrade so can host outside rain or shine. There was a band playing music which was pretty loud so if you plan on coming here for a date I would probably look up if they are going to have live music. Must make a reservation!!! Gets super busy and you will be waiting for hours without one. As for the food, the bootzin pasta was so tasty!! Highly highly recommend, and slightly spicy. The pizza is the spring Betty pizza, with a super delicious pesto and crust is fantastic. I'm giving this place 4 stars because we ordered the khaleesi salad and that was disgusting. Salad was clearly not washed (you could taste the soil and rocks in your teeth) and ingredients/dressing were just meh. Do not recommend. The branzino was also pretty delicious- stuffed with herbs and fall apart tender the way it should be. It's an expensive dish but a generous portion - and can definitely be shared between a few people. However, the service was really mediocre. We had a large party and the waitress skipped my order- went to the next party and took their orders, and we couldn't flag her down despite the fact that I was holding several menus up in my hand and looking around for her. Tons of staff and nobody stopped to see if everything is ok or they could get us our waitress. As for the food- branzino was great, the pizzas were pretty good but my daughter said not amazing, and the ricotta dish was too salty for my taste. My drink was tasty too.
