Ok here is just our opinion. The place was clean , except the toilet paper ridden bathroom. It was everywhere !! Someone didn't flush the toilet. Ugh, hate that. The restaurant was decorated in kinda "happy days" stuff everywhere. Okay looks nice n kitchy. The lady who helped us was nice and helpful. They had a electronic billboard with their basic 5 best dishes, all at least $10.00 that included fries and drink. So we go to order. The girl said all is a la carte !! Seperate drinks and fries ???? What ??? Okay. Misleading as hell. See pictures for food please. Everything, was room temperature. Why would you have dozens of orders of fries cooked already when there are only 5 two top tables eating already and 4 people in line ?? She charged me 60 cents for peppers and nothing for my Husbands grilled onions. The beef was DRY as hell !! If you scooped it off (I did) there was less meat then an Arbys junior roast beef chopped up. I got one with a polish sausage n beef. The Sausage was just barely warm. Husband was mad cause there was more bread then beef. The salad was okay, but be aware there is bacon on it if you can't eat pork. Everything added is extra to a sandwich. That's okay if your food is good and hot. We don't care. But this is not the case here. Not even busy and at least 15 people at the work area. Beverages were flat and Husbands root beer , yuck he said. Dumped it and drank my coke. They have been open long enough to be better then this. You all enjoy yourself and waste your money we will go elsewhere. Penn Station had waaay better steak sandwiches and salads. Won't be back. Also forgot to add that our bill was $35.35. Yeah, better hot food and table service for that plus a great tip. read more

Gross! Hotdogs were rubbery. As you took a bite the insides came out while the hotdog skin stayed in tact. Diet soda taste like rat poison and that's no exaggeration. I can say the strawberry shortcake was good. Fries were good. If I went back I might try a burger. read more

I was excited for Fort Wayne to get one of these hot dog hangouts. Having been to one before I know that their hot dogs and fries are the way to go I love their Portillo dog and the options that it can come with. I love their fries with a touch of salt and the onion rings are a great option too. The salads and sandwiches are never an option when I come here. Having had them before and being let down I know better now. That being said their hamburgers are one of my all time favorites and I get it loaded I always ask for extra pickles as they are cold and crunchy and go great with each bite of your hot dog or hamburger. I love the old fashioned feel you get if you watch the employees wear their hats and make your food. The atmosphere and decorations add to the entire experience. Like you just left a sock hop and are hanging with your gal pals on a Friday night. I don't like that they don't have a kids meal drives me nuts. But it is what it is I suppose. It's also a tad pricey but the food prices in Fort Wayne are jacked up all over so it's no surprise. Dinning room is always being cleaned but the condiment station could use some improvement as there is always something empty when I visit. Fun experience and I recommend going at least once just to say you tried it. Skip all other foods and go directly to the dogs, burgers, fries, and shakes or malts. Food was ok. They forgot one item in our carry out and one sandwich was wrong. My husband called when we got home. They told us come back. So my husband drove 30 mins back to the restaurant. I Have eaten at the one in Indianapolis and now have one in Fort Wayne. I went recently during their soft opening and enjoyed the dry Italian Beef with sweet and hot peppers and gravy on the side. I forgot to have them cut it in half; easier to eat that way, but will remember the next time. Then the chocolate cake for dessert. They didn't have any of the Italian items on the menu. Hope they add them later. Just gives another option. I did go another day and had the chili with a chopped salad. Both were excellent. read more

This was my very FIRST time visiting a Portillo's. It was a cold, rainy day and we went through the drive thru. They had 2 girls working outside taking orders. The girl that took my order was very nice. At some point during the ordering process an orange sticky note sized paper with a Portillo's number was put on my vehicle. I never saw her do this (or I would have said something). I got in line to get my order and there was confusion as they had 2 windows close together and they also had a guy with a bright orange/yellow vest squeezing between cars and the windows and trying to get orders from window and delivering them to cars. Seemed sort of chaotic, dangerous and unnecessary, especially since when I did get my food passed to me through the window the employee was masked and had gloves on. I received my food, drove home, parked my cars in the garage, went in to eat. I did not leave my house until the following day. When I went out to my vehicle not only do I see this orange sticky note stuck to my car, but when I removed it - it left an orange stain on my white paint. I freaked out and immediately took it through Mike's Car Wash to see if it would come off. It did not! I called and spoke to a Manager. He placed me on hold so he could get his GM. He came back stating the GM said to contact customer relations and they would take care of me and gave me a number. I called. I have called several times over a period of a few days...Automated system. Voicemails are full so you can't leave a message. I decided to fill out a comment on their website. I simply asked for a return call so I could speak to someone about my issue /experience - no details. It has been over a week and I just now received an email that states ".....they have communicated my concerns to the Area Supervisor and General Manager of the restaurant so they can review further with their team members and address the issue internally." How can this be when NO ONE has contacted me to get the full details of the issue?? I'm guessing this "sticky note" number system is a practice they use or how else would this number have gotten on my vehicle? I can't be the only one that takes pride in their car? My car is a white....and now has orange stain on drivers door. Not happy!! Why did they not put this on the window? Was the food good? It was.....but that is currently being overshadowed by how I feel about their lack of follow through and customer service. :( I have saved all my receipts and documentation and will continue to leave poor reviews until a member of management reaches out to me. read more

I've been coming to Portillo since the 90s. I was very excited to hear Ft Wayne would be receiving a location. Boy was I wrong! The employees were not only completely rude but untrained as well. We were forced to give our order to three employees because they weren't paying attention that there was no one in line making us repeat our order to multiple employees. The employees were unable to figure out how to make a hot dog with only cheese sauce and made me order cups of cheese instead. I've only been ordering this at Portillo's for 20 years and have never had a problem at any location from Chicago to Indy. We won't be back it's clear management is inept. Tried this for the first time today. Good service, The cheeseburger I got was very good, and my husband enjoyed the polish sausage he had. The onion rings were OK, though mostly breading. The French fries were were very disappointing. Just from a bag of frozen fries. The burger and sausage sandwiches were worth the four stars, but I would skip those sides. I doubt we will hurry right back, but it is OK. One of those places worth trying once. read more

Went there today for a beef with friends from Michigan, who are also from the Chicagoland area. We got there, ordered our food and while we were waiting for our order, the power went out! Nobody's fault there but the staff handled it very professionally!! They couldn't completely finish getting our orders together and took care of us accordingly. I WILL be going back to this location whenever I am in town. Great job with the newer restaurant and with the staff that was there! Food is always good with this Chicago chain. We were there at lunch and this location is a bit undersized to what we are used to but we made it work. If you are a Chicagoan they call the Italian combo something different. We had dawgs, burgers etc. all good. read more

Went here for a date and I wish I went somewhere else. Very long wait time from ordering to receiving the food. That wasn't so bad because the wait for an open table was just as long. Once we finally got an open table it was freshly cleaned. The problem was that the table was still soaking wet because they used a wet rag to clean it and never dried it. They also missed a few spots. Finally got to the food. I got the chicken club and recommend avoiding it bc mine tasted like rubber in the center. Wasn't cooked right or maybe just a bad piece. Overall I think I'll just go get food from somewhere else from now on. read more

Great place for the whole family! We stopped in to eat here the week it opened and were pleasantly surprised. The service was great, there was a line but they had someone standing there to help us with our order so all we had to do was hand it to the counter and pay. Everyone was very polite. Our only hiccup was our order got missed being called and we had to go up and ask for it. The food was awesome and our whole family enjoyed it! We decided to try the hot dogs. Unfortunately, the only thing hot about the dogs was the name. Our dogs were stone cold. I asked one of the servers if this was the way they were supposed to be and he assured us they should be hot. He reported the problem but no one came to talk with us. The food was amazing but the system was kinda messed up. You go in and order then wait for your food, that's normal. But the seating is just ridiculous. The place was completely packed and there was still people ordering. I think it's half the restaurants fault and half the costumers fault. I've been to a few of the Portillo's locations in Chicago. Everything seemed fine here. The food was satisfying. I always enjoy getting an Italian beef with sweet peppers and hot peppers, plus fries, cheese sauce, and a drink. The cost of the food is seemed a little higher than I remembered, but probably similar to anything such as five guys, shake shack, etc. This place is definitely a bit loud, as all locations are. Service is always fantastic and the environment/decor inside these restaurants is always fun to see. Next time, I'm going to get one of their chocolate cake shakes. read more

We enjoyed our sandwiches, both of us had the Italian beef. We'll need to go back again though to give an updated review. We went during a lunch hour and the place was just packed! Three lines that moved very slowly. I give them credit for having people write down your order in advance, but it was still slow. Then after ordering you have to wait for it at the delivery window, buy number, which also seemed to take a long time. The place is brand new, only open for a short time when we visited, so maybe this will get better as staff gains experience. I will say that the staff was very friendly and apologetic when anyone seemed inconvenienced. I look forward to returning and trying some other menu items. read more

My family was looking for somewhere new to eat and we found out that this new place just opened up across glen brook mall.We said why not.We first ordered our food and that took long enough because we ended up waiting twenty minutes for some half ass burgers that I could just purchase across the street from McDonald's. When I took a bite I realized that my burger was raw and so was my moms.When we reported it to the manager he gave us two new sandwiches and we just took it home because we had already had enough of that place.When my mom decided to eat her burger she later told me that she got indigestion and it made her feel really sick.NEVER AGAIN will I buy from this establishment. read more

I've been several times since it opened and feel like I can now accurately assess this Portillo's. It's fairly solid. The roast beef is incredible and the cheese fries are fire. The hot dogs, however, are fairly mediocre. I will say there have been a few mess ups when I've gone. For example, I ordered a beef and cheddar croissant and asked for the gravy on the side since I was taking the order to go. I made it all the way home before I realized they dipped my sandwich. By the time I ate it, it was a soggy mess and not nearly as enjoyable as other times I've had it. One another note - it's nice that this place does delivery and that they're open late. It's great to have options (other than just pizza) delivered on my end of town. read more

Items were added to my bill I NEVER ordered. I bought to attention of the clerk, the manager heard me and said I will take those off for you, you may get them on your tray anyway. I told her I did not want them, I just wanted what I ordered. My food was ready and I waited nearly 15 minutes for her to return with my receipt and refund. She came back to counter and said, I am only going to refund one item. Those 2 items went straight in the trash because no one wanted them or ordered them and I was forced to pay for! My food was cold because I had to wait for her to adjust my bill that she didn't even help with. She accused me of ordering them and I swear I did not. This is no way to handle business! I am a professional and make plenty of money and was not looking to get free food!!! I merely wanted the items taken off my bill because I did not order them, point blank! I could not find a clean table to sit at and the only few open ones were filthy! My food was cold and disgusting! This was my very first visit here, I will NEVER step foot in your establishment EVER!
