This was fast... maybe too fast. When they said express they meant it! The food was so good I was dying. The food was very warm too.

This was a prime dinner time, in the 6 o'clock hour. Had a gyro with fries. The fries were way overly salty. To the point where they were almost inedible. I can understand now why they were not busy. It looked like there were two high school kids running the place. Not sure what's going on, but it's not good.

They're situated on the south end of strip mall home to a Rosati's and a Subway. They opened in mid-April 2024 (the space used to be All Star Diner) and the banner outside almost seems temporary. Hopefully they're here for more than just a short stint because..... The gyros sandwich ($8) was great with a good portion of seasoned gyro meat, onions, tomato, and tzadziki. Fries were fine, same style as Mcdonalds and just as salty, which I liked. I'm typically a crinkle cut guy, though these tasted better than they looked. The 'dinger' ($10) disappointingly did not come with fries--as all other hot dogs did--but I still enjoyed it. This unique Southside item is a tamale inside a chili cheese dog with onions and sport peppers. Though tasty, I wouldn't get this again (ridiculously carb-heavy) and will stick with a loaded chili cheese dawg on future visits. Both times I've stopped in for lunch, they had JERRY SPRINGER on TV! Maury and Dr Phil might be super trashy television, but they'll never match the hair-pulling, chair-throwing WTF insanity of the Jerry f*cking Springer show. * TL;DR * Not all of us have the luxury of taking a 'business lunch'; most of the time we've gotta grab-N-go before our boss texts us "where are you?" Hole-in-the-wall places like this serving hot dogs/gyros/etc are some of my favorite ones to hit up around midday. There's usually a few solid menu items and stereotypically gruff counter service, plus a bevy of customers that look like they just finished 1st shift at the construction site. It's always nice to have a place like Halsted Street Dawgs around.

Our food was freshly prepared and the milkshake was thick (which is my personal preference). Everything tasted delicious, and the portions were generous enough that we left with leftovers.

When you actually click on the item you want to order, it lists all the ingredients so you can omit the items you don't want....this is how you can find out what is on the food item. Interestingly, for a cheesesteak, it lists lettuce, tomato, and mayo....none of which actually come on the sandwich. (See pictures) Also, it automatically added a $5 tip to our order. Ummmm, no way are you adding an auto tip to my pickup order people. It took us forever to figure out how to remove/modify the tip. I am appalled that you think it's ok to add a tip to an order. As for the food, it was served very hot. Good job there. The Philly cheesesteak was delicious. Not a huge amount of steak on the sandwich. (See pictures, and note how little steak there was compared to the chicken sandwich.). The fries were good. The Buffalo chicken cheesesteak was unbelievably greasy and salty. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly, and there was a generous amount of chicken, cheese, mushrooms, and onions. That being said, it was literally dripping in sauce, which was 95% grease, 5% flavor. I would definitely not order this sandwich again. On a side note, we received a text asking us to complete an online survey. I took the time to do so, and when I hit submit, it asked for THE code they sent us. They did not send us a code, so I could not submit the comment I took the time to write. This place needs to get their act together.

The meatballs were delicious, the sauce actually was very good and I don't even like mushrooms at all. The second item I got was the meat filled dumplings, and those were really good. They were actually a lot better than I thought they would be. The third item I tried was the smoked Polish sausage. I will be honest, this was not my favorite. It was not bad, but the flavor on it I did not like as much as other Polish places I've tried. I definitely want to go back and try their cabbage and noodles and pigs in a blanket. They also have desserts that I will have to try as well. They do sell sandwiches, Chicago style hotdogs, and have a small grocery store inside.

However, this place is kind of tucked away so it wasn't busy at all in the afternoon. The outside of the building just says Deli. If you like Polish food, you'll love it here. I read some people exaggerating about the wait times. It does not take long for them to help you. Like Jewel or Mariano's, they're not going to slice your meat in 10 seconds if that's what you're hoping for. Btw the staff was nice. I think the Karen's that complain about them being rude are not very cultured and only know American culture. I ordered the signature pastrami sandwich for $10.99 and it was a very generous portion size. She put a ton of meat in it. The pastrami wasn't tough, it was fresh and soft. Honestly, I had Katz's in NY and this was a really great pastrami sandwich. I also got a large cannoli and meat pierogis. The cannoli was delicious. The pierogis were good but I like to have softer skin. The meat filling was fine but the outside was a bit too tough. I've been to a number of Polish restaurants and they usually make the skins very soft to cut. I would rate these pierogis like a 4. Overall, it's about a 4.5. Prices were very cheap. I got everything for $20. I will definitely return to try more items.

The burgers were supreme, the service was cordial and "home-y" They had a vegetable beef soup to dream of, and the fries were ambrosial. What the hell happened? I can prolly surmise accountants happened, which is the death knell for just about every business these days. Instead of a human ready to help, you now have to punch your order in at a kiosk, then find your way to a table. There should be a revolt against crap like this. The burgers aren't the juicy beefy delights they were-they taste tired. The fries were cold when they finally came out. Both the burgers and fries are not seasoned at all. There's ONE size of soft drink, which is everyone else's small, and you have to pour yourself. The throw wasn't bad-the only bright spot of the day. There were kids running all around the dining room, which is always nerve-racking. If there was a host/hostess they might have been a deterrent, but it wasn't to be. There's a stupid machine to dispense ketchup wot looks like a water dispenser. It's difficult to work. It's not marked as anything. The men in the boardrooms ruined a classic. Again.
