After talking to Ron and Ted at length, which they did not mind at all, I decided to have PER do the work.

There was zero reason to have it that long, and there were no updates from these guys, I had to call every day, multiple times per day. I kept being told they would give me a call back, which never happened. They ordered a part for me and it got sent to the wrong store, because they have 3 names: Milex, Mr. transmission, and also Protech. Too much room for confusion, too much miscommunication. I would never take my car there again, and the owner (Bob) needs to retire and stop being creepy toward women. He's made multiple remarks about my mother that are extremely uncomfortable and creepy as hell.

Highly Recommend!! Wish I could add another star…read more The Buick Dealership in Beaverton told me I needed to replace the transmission in my Lacrosse for $4,100. When I asked what was wrong, they told me they did not know for sure, but something broke inside and it needed replacement. I asked about rebuilding and they don't do it because there is not much difference in cost. I am not an idiot, so I pulled it out and on to Yelp I went to find a place for a second opinion. That is when I went on Yelp and found Milex Mr Transmission (Based on the positive reviews) and called. I talked to Bob who explained many times there are issues with transmissions that can be fixed without replacing or rebuilding. He let me know if it did need to be rebuilt he would be able to give me a cap on how much it could cost which he was confident would be much less than the $4,100 the Buick Dealership wanted. So I brought the car in an took a test drive with a mechanic. He immediately (Before we pulled out of the parking lot) told me the bearings in my front left hub were bad and was causing the noise and sluggish feeling the car had. He said the transmission was shifting fine. He recommended that we replace the hub and it more than likely is all the car needed. Guess what, they replaced the hub for a few hundred $$ and it purrs like a kitten. I never needed to replace the transmission like the Buick Dealership in Beaverton told me I needed. Bottom line, Bob and his team have demonstrated the honesty and integrity you would hope to find in a repair shop. The Buick Dealership on the other hand could learn a lot from Bob and his team about how to run an honest business with great quality work. Thank you Bob!

Zero stars if i could…read more I cannot recommend this shop based on my experience. Things started off poorly when I arrived for an appointment that I had scheduled in advance and was told I didn't have one. After showing voicemail messages and phone records confirming the appointment, it was acknowledged that I did have one, but I was informed that several other vehicles would now be ahead of me. Over the next several months, with my approval, additional work was added beyond the original estimate. When I finally received the vehicle back, the bill was nearly three times higher than the original quote. Unfortunately, the vehicle immediately developed a severe oil leak from the valve cover area. I was instructed to bring it back, but no tow was offered or suggested despite the severity of the leak. I checked the oil level and attempted to drive it back to the shop. The engine failed and locked up just a couple of miles away, requiring me to have it towed in. After discussing the situation, we agreed that installing a rebuilt engine would be a fair resolution. I agreed to pay $500 for labor and another $500 to add wiring for the oil pressure and generator warning lights. Nearly a year later, I received a call that the vehicle was finally ready for pickup. However, it barely made it a couple of blocks before I discovered the brakes were dragging badly. This was especially frustrating because brake work had been part of the original repair request. The shop kept the vehicle for another couple of weeks before I was able to pick it up for a third time. At that point, I was informed that the newly installed engine would carry absolutely no warranty. After all the time, money, and frustration involved, I ultimately sold the vehicle just to recover some of my expenses. Throughout the entire process, the attitude and communication were overwhelmingly negative and only seemed to worsen over time. What's particularly disappointing is that I used this shop about 17 years ago and received excellent service. I later learned that the mechanic who performed that work has since passed away. Sadly, the quality of service I received this time was nothing like what I remembered. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. I would never want someone else to go through what I experienced here.

Did a great job and better price than anticipated! Very fair! I will try to always bring my car…read morehere!

The quotes did not separate out the cost of parts from the cost of labor. Their prices were higher than the two other quotes I'd received, but I still got the brakes done there. Customer service at the front desk/on the phone was friendly. They paid for an Uber to bring me back to the shop since their courtesy vehicle wasn't available at that time. When another mechanic reviewed some of the work they recommended, it sounded like they may have been overzealous in their thorough examination/recommendations. For example, the drive belt has the beginnings of a minor crack but it sounds like it's probably not going to be an issue for 20,000 miles. They also asked for a review multiple times after the service. Final answer: They aren't (and don't claim to be) the affordable option, but their service advisors were pleasant and I felt like they didn't try to pressure me into more services once I said no/defer to most recs.
