My parents went to Red Maple a few months ago and very much enjoyed the food and service. Since then my mum has had a few health issues and is temporarily in a wheelchair. Now that I am in town to help with her care they wanted to take me here since they thought so highly of the restaurant. Unfortunately the experience was a complete 180 from the first time they went when my mum was not in a wheelchair chair. While the food was decent and the ambience was cheery the service was very much lacking. Yes there is a ramp to get a wheelchair into the restaurant as far as ADA compliance to get to the front door was basically non existent. When we got to the host stand the staff was very reluctant to have a wheelchair in their dining room and was less than helpful. So to solve that problem they sat us alone in their back patio. It's sad that Red Maple had such a negative attitude towards mobility devices and not ADA friendly. Will not be going back. read more

Be aware that if they seat you outside you CANNOT order any beverages with alcohol I wish they had told me that when I first signed up in the waiting list Kinda ruined my date. The only reason I stayed is because my server was great. Bryan, the owner, greeted us and took great care of our party of 11 adults and 1 child. We came to celebrate my sister's graduation, and when we asked if they could seat a party of 12, he said, "Give me a few minutes, I'll make something work for you guys." And he did! Such a thoughtful touch we had ordered the signature tater tots, but Bryan came out to let us know he already had complimentary tots coming to our table to honor the graduate and gave us the option to cancel our order. I had the tinga tostadas, which were the perfect size for me. We also tried the mac and cheese, perfect for the baby, with croutons on the side. The green chilaquiles were a bit sour and not spicy, but the brisket burger was juicy and tasty, and the seasoned fries were great. The fried chicken velvet waffles were unexpectedly flavorful and different definitely a must-try! We also had the coconut cream latte with my sister's picture on it, which was super cute and tasty. Red Mapel is an OK restaurant. And, I use that term OK very descriptively. It's certainly not bad, but it's also not great. It's just OK. At least in my opinion. In terms of their layout, they have their main dining area, which I considered to be a little impacted. The tables are very close to each other, and generally, even when the booths are open, the host doesn't sit couples there. They seemingly wait for larger groups. I understand that but occasionally they will sit couples in one of the booths like when I arrived this morning, there was a couple sitting in one of the booths. When we inquired about a table, there was a separate booth that was still available. But we were not offered to sit there.. So, I don't really know what the formula is? It seems to be non-descriptive. Meaning, a bit judgmental. The restaurant also has their forward patio. This is out in front of the restaurant, along Riverside Drive. If the sun's on the patio, this can be kind of trying. But, if you get there when the sun is off the patio, this may be your choice for a place to dine. They also have a rear enclosed patio area. This is a small area with just a few tables. But, you are protected from the sun and you do get some of the breeze blowing through. So, it may be a more enjoyable place to dine than the interior dining area. They also have some tables that line the street. As long as you're in the shade, this isn't a bad place to sit. But, you are going to get the cars starting up, parking, and things like that if you sit in this area. In terms of food, again, it's OK. Not great. Just OK. I guess it suits its purpose. This restaurant has a fairly large menu. So, you have a lot of choices to choose from. This is a very popular restaurant, so I guess many people take a different view of it than I do. Meaning, there's times when you will have to wait to get a table. So, if you're coming here midday keep that in mind. Overall, if you're in the Toluca Lake area, this may be a place for you to enjoy a meal. read more

A recommendation brought me here, and now I completely understand why they're ranked #48 on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in LA. I tried the Vegan Egg & Cheese Breakfast Burrito with chorizo and loved that they also offer tofu, Beyond, vegan chick'n, and vegan steak options. I also tried the tofu skillet loaded with veggies, quinoa, black beans, corn tortillas, salsa, and a side salad. Nothing about the vegan menu felt like an afterthought. We were checked on many times. There was no wait at 11am on a Thursday but then it got busier. We really enjoyed the Red Maple Signature Tater Squares & cheese sauce that were a Today's Special. I liked my tuna melt and salad and had to take half home because there was so much tuna. My friend expected her Seared Ahi Burger to be cooked a little more than it was but didn't want to send it back (we mentioned it after and were told they would've cooked it more for her). Located on a nice corner lot, there was a cute farmer's market right outside on a Sunday morning, perfect to browse before dining in. We had a reservation for 7 people and the staff had everything set up for us when we got there. The service was exceptional! Order taking was super efficient and we felt extremely well taken care of. We had not been to this location since it was 'The Counter' and we regret that. This is such a better experience than the previous and we will definitely be coming back. Brian was wonderful at the front host desk with a smile and a positive attitude, even with the Sunday brunch crowd causing a 15-20 minute wait. We ordered the Single Smash Burger with Seasoned Fries and were not disappointed. Rachel, our waitress, was accommodating with all the requests, and the food came out exactly as it was ordered. Kudos. It was a busy Sunday, but the atmosphere was very casual and not overtly loud or noisy. We will definitely be coming back and are kicking ourselves that it took us this long to patron this place. Don't make our mistake. Came here around 1pm on a Saturday by myself and it was definitely loud and crowded, but I was seated surprisingly quickly which was nice. Service was fast overall, although it felt a little, dare I say, aloof and I didn't feel especially welcomed. Not bad service, just not particularly warm. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and substituted the chili lime bacon for turkey bacon, which probably changes the intended flavor profile a bit, so keep that in mind. Overall though, the quesadilla itself was really good. The texture stood out immediately; creamy from the avocado and fluffy scrambled eggs, with everything tasting very clean and fresh. The spinach tortilla added a nice flavor too, although I do wish it had been a little warmer and toasted & crispy since parts of it were slightly soft and mushy. The peach iced tea was excellent. Organic and unsweetened, very refreshing. The breakfast potatoes were decent. They tasted fresh and had roasted sweet red peppers and onions mixed in, which made them a little more interesting than standard diner potatoes. Personally, though, I prefer breakfast potatoes with more crisp and crunch, and these leaned softer and more baked than crispy. They still tasted good overall and honestly probably felt a bit lighter because they weren't heavily fried. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. It feels like an elevated diner/brunch experience with higher quality ingredients. I'd definitely come back to try other menu items. read more

My friends had gone before and were raving about the breakfast quesadilla... but looking at the menu I had my eyes on the chilaquiles. The food was super yummy. My chips on the chilaquiles weren't soggy. And my friend gave me some of her quesadillas... she was NOT lying. It was soooooo good. Coming back for that. How ever they make the eggs in that is sooo yummy. But the best thing was the "celebrity lattes." You can add a picture of a celeb OR upload your own picture to come on top of the latte foam. I got a picture of my baby and it was almost too cute/neat to drink! And it's not a ridiculous price for it. So awesome. They are known to have long waits during prime times but we didn't wait long. We had a memorable brunch recently at Red Maple. It is very decorated inside and we enjoyed their specials tailored for each month. It was Breast Cancer Awareness month when we dined in, so there were pink highlights in their special menu with a portion of sales that went to a charity. I thought that was great... We had a party of 8. No reservations taken at Red Maple, so get there early or be prepared to wait. We waited. I went with a simple belgian waffle ($11.75) topped with powdered sugar and served with whipped cream on the side. Real maple syrup served with it as well. It was great. Crunchy but not dry. Excellent with its accompaniments. I also ordered a side of applewood smoked bacon ($8), you get 4 pieces. Our server asked me if I wanted the bacon extra crispy and that was a definite yes. My lady got the breakfast quesadilla ($17.50) which comes with scrambled eggs, chili-lime bacon, 4-cheese Mexican blend & green onion aioli inside a spinach tortilla. This came with sour cream and green salsa on the side. It also came with breakfast potatoes. It was delicious. My best friend ordered the chilaquiles ($18.50) and we all kinda picked at that because she also ordered an ube triple stack of pancakes ($17.50) which again, we all shared and was really good. Breakfast burritos ($18.75) with brisket, papas con chorizo ($17) and fried chicken with lemon velvet waffle ($19.75) were also ordered. Everyone liked their entrees and various drinks... Red Maple has this app that you can upload photos to and those photos can then be printed on the foam top of your cappuccino or lattes. We had the server put my best friend's senior portrait on hers as a surprise because she arrived late. It made for great laughs. Our server was great and Red Maple was a great meal for us all. Street parking, otherwise the pay lot out back gets validated from Red Maple, so bring your ticket with you. read more

We have lived in north hollywood and finally got to stop in at Red Maple for brunch. First off, the service is truly top notch. We came in at 11am on a Sunday (bold, I know.) BUT I did join the waitlist online right as we left for the drive over. I'm so glad we did, because as soon as we arrived, I got the notification that our table was ready! So I HIGHLY recommended joining the waitlist on their site before hand, especially for a weekend brunch. The vibe was so cozy inside. We came in during breast cancer awareness month, and they went all out with decorating for the cause. I loved it so much! I had the vegan breakfast burrito with tofu. It was so delicious and they gave such a large portion, I was able to save half of it for breakfast the next day! My boyfriend had the green onion brisket wafflewich and he absolutely loved it! It was so fun to have so many items to choose from. Also, I can't forget to mention the personalized latte art. Then later he wanted us to move more at the corner without shade, because they wanted to put extra seats in the aisle. Although there were many seats opened inside the restaurant. He refused to put us inside. He was so rude, even when we decided to leave, he didn't care. He was the worst host ever made. So we decided to leave before the food was served.
