I have ate here many times over the past 20 years but hadn't been in recently until last week when I met some friends for dinner. Upon being seated our waiter came over and informed us they are still a BYOB but you can buy full bottles of wine just not by the glass. He also brought over a bread basket with 3 different types of bread. My favorite was the one that reminded me of a larger garlic knot. For an appetizer, we spilt the fried calamari which had a very light breading and cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend trying it. For dinner I went with a grilled chicken Cesar salad which was packed with chicken. It was a little light on the dressing so I asked the waiter to bring me more. Since the dressing was homemade and not from a bottle when he brought it out it tasted nothing like what was on my salad, more just like a glob of mayo and vinegar. He then offered to bring out the house dressing for me. I'm glad he did, best house dressing! We were all pretty full after our meals but we decided to take advantage of the free Yelp check in desert which was a cannoli. Staff here is very attentive and friendly. Food is legit. He comes around and chats with the regulars "I had them make it how you like it.....how is it? Bobby has been running 80 yards a game, you must be proud!" while he IGNORES anyone he doesn't know. GREAT WAY TO RUN A RESTAURANT, PAL! If your kids are on the team, you go to the head of the waiting list while others wait around for their average food. (They always claim they had reservations.). Even his wait staff play this game, bringing out free garlic bread to the regulars as soon as they sit, while others need to place an order before they decide you are worthy of the free bread. I called my waiter out on it and he backpedaled and backpedaled but refused to get me any bread or even a bottle opener for my wine (they are BYO and brought openers to other tables) until I ordered. I could go on and on, but why bother, THIS PLACE SUCKS! I honestly don't blame anyone who likes it, they probably have kids going to the local HS or know him personally and clearly don't understand the ridiculous favoritism that goes on every weekend in this place. I was really surprised how great this place was. It's in a strip mall and looks almost chain y from the outside bit we were starving and a friend recommended it. There was a 30 min wait which made me more intrigued about the food. We had a great meal here. Started with the salad with vinegrette dressing which was great and fresh. The fried calari was excellent and I usually Dont even like calamari. Not too greasy or over battered. Not rubbery ... Just right ! For entrees I had the chicken picatta which was excellent. Chicken was moist and tender. Veges were well prepared. My favorite dish was the vodka sauce that the bf got ! I wanted to eat his entire meal. The vodka sauce was incredible ! I remember going to a restaurant with this same name.I remember how much I enjoyed it. Too bad this was not that restaurant. Service was decent, food not so much. Ordered the veal cutlet parm hero.The veal was actually strips and pieces of meat not an actual cutlet. The bread was cold and the sauce and cheese sparse , Too bad they didn't know enough to heat the sandwich and melt the cheese in the pizza ovens. You can get a better sandwich elsewhere. I want to give this place 3.65 stars! It is a warm fun family atmosphere with a broad menu and dining area that can accommodate larger groups. The portions are large which I don't really need but some folks love. They also do take out. The food & service is consistent and attentive. Eating at the restaurant is a great experience, but ordering delivery here is not a good idea. Every time I've ordered delivery here, my order is either incorrect or missing something. I'm shouldn't need to call the restaurant back each time to get them to correct it. Food is delicious when they get the order right, which isn't often unless you're dining there in person. read more

Positano's is a solid option for a casual Italian meal. Big fan of the salad with the house dressing, hot/cold appetizers, veal parm, and pastas (always al dente). Also the complimentary garlic knots are awesome, not many places give those out anymore. Recently I have been getting the grandma pie. It's a little thicker--almost like a Sicilian. It's topped with cheese and baked, finished with strips of chunky tomato sauce and baked a bit more. Try it well-done, the crisp edges are amazing. read more

Kinda surprised about the review about the staff, my family goes about once every 3 months and they practically remember all our names. I guess you can figure out by the amount we go as a family that we like the food. My favorite dish is an easy one but I still enjoy the way they prepare it. The pasta is always cooked perfectly and the bread before diner w/ olive oil and crushed red peppers always gets me wanting to eat more. Great espresso as well. Never did have the pizza there however. What's really great about the place other than the food is the fact that it is BYOB...really helps cut cost since my family really does enjoy wine with diner. The place is crowded and that kinda bothers me a little, but not enough to avoid the place. What a disappointment. Came here starving and ready for some pasta and more. After reading a couple good reviews via-Yelp, I stopped in hoping to be in and out with a full belly. Positano is conveniently located in the plaza located in the Point View shopping center, which was easy to locate. The waiter was so nice and polite and made us feel comfortable so I was happy to begin ordering. The restaurant was busy so I took that into consideration that I wouldn't be out as fast as I'd hoped for. That was fine. Bread is complimentary when seated, and keep in mind, if you want to order wine, it is only available by the bottle. So after ordering drinks (water, soda, and fruit punch), I put in two appetizers, the clams in wine sauce and calamari. The clams were not served with crostini but we had a bread basket on the table so I was fine with that. Then, most of the calamari was under cooked so the breading was too soft, so I then pushed the plate to the side - I thought that was messed up. After waiting a while for the server to return, I asked for a grandma pie (my sons fave), and a lasagna. The food took so long to come out, I wasn't even hungry anymore. And keep in mind I walked in starving. So finally the pie arrives and the lasagna did not. So only two of us were eating and my oldest was just waiting for his food. I was upset about this. Then I noticed that our pie was undercooked. How do you serve an undercooked pizza? I couldn't eat it so I they had to recook it and finally my son received his lasagna. So then at this point, my other son and I waited more so the undercooked pie could come out. I almost flipped out so I walked over to the manager and asked for my check and to box the pizza. The manager or owner actually gave me an attitude and I was already so tired from my day that I didn't even have the strength to argue with him. The pie looked much better after it was cooked and they removed the calamari from my bill. Regardless, I won't be returning. I tipped the waiter fairly because it wasn't his fault but I didn't appreciate the owners attitude or the fact that he gave me a nasty look when I was walking out. I called this morning for lunch to be delivered to my office in Paramus today, which happens to be Mother's Day, the food came hot and in a timely fashion as always! How many places can you call on Mother's Day and get your food on time? I called and spoke to Shira and she was very helpful, helping me make the right choice for the small amount of people we have. The food was delicious as always. Everyone raved about how good the food was and that they couldn't believe that positano would deliver to Paramus. I am very disappointed in this restaurant. My family has been ordering from here for years now and now I am positive that we will not be anymore. During the beginning of this pandemic I noticed the employees were wearing chin guards instead of masks. Today I went to see if anything changed. Now they do not allow customers inside, you have to wait at the table outside for your food. I looked through the glass and the employees were now not wearing masks at all. This is very disappointing considering they do not consider the safety of those bringing them revenue. I have contacted the NJ health department and they are going to look into this. I have no clue as to where I should begin with this review. My husband and I were so above and beyond pleased with the outstanding service as well as the amazing food. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are in a little restaurant in Italy, while the staff makes you feel like you're amongst family. For appetizer we had the calamari which came out perfectly cooked to the T. Our entrees were the fish special and their steak entree. We also had a bottle of white wine and Tiramisu for dessert. We just couldn't say no to any department since everything was so delicious and tempting. One of the owners even came to our table to ask us how everything was and introduced himself. We complimented our waiter and made sure that his boss knew that he had a good employee on hand. We were given a bottle of their house salad dressing which I must in fact say is phenomenal, on the house. I can honestly say that it has been years since my husband and I have been so over the hill ecstatic With a restaurant. It's really hard to find that one great restaurant but I must say, I think that we found ours finally! I go to Positano's as often as possible and it never disappoints. I live about a half mile from there but the second I'm greeted and seated, taking in the wonderful aromas, I feel as though I'm in a restaurant at a small cozy village in Italy and I know I'll have yet another wonderful dining experience. Last night, was yet another one of those enjoyable evenings... I usually start with the house salad, (hard to pass it up!) the greens are always crisp and fresh, with the house dressing, which is a creamy lemony garlicky Italian dressing--light but full of flavor, it's my favorite. Lots of choices for appetizers, the bruschetta with fresh mozzarella and perfectly seasoned, juicy tomato chunks is to DIE FOR! There are standard favorites on the menu, all delicious...one of my faves is the risotto positano's...but you can never go wrong in choosing from the specials. I had the seafood cannelloni last night.... I chose wisely...the pasta was light and airy, the seafood filling was delicious, and just the right amount of stuffing...and the red sauce was sumptuous--bread-wiping-clean worthy! The staff is attentive, always courteous...they're the best, as is Steve, the owner of the restaurant, they do their best to please and accommodate their clients...and they've always succeeded. There can be a little bit of a wait, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's well worth it, and you can make a reservation to avoid that! My night started out with a bruschetta and the opening of a bottle of Castello Di Gabbiano Chianti that I BROUGHT. The bruschetta bread was out of this world! The perfect crunch paired with the freshness of the mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. I then had their signature Chicken Parmesan which was cooked to perfection. No dessert for me due to the huge potions of food! This place is legit amazing. Hopefully I'll be back in the area of Wayne NJ soon! Three stars for service, but this pizza is not Brooklyn pizza or even close. Maybe it's because we ordered the grandma pie...but the dough didn't taste fresh (maybe it was frozen), and the sauce and cheese I could only equate to ketchup and sour cream. Next time I'll try the reg pizza and maybe it'll be better (at least cheaper). I live in Brooklyn and we are here for a wedding this weekend, but the owners have got to step up their game. I'm a fan of Positano for sure. They make a delicious pizza and their customer service is great. I've never had a sit-down dining experience yet but their delivery service is the best in North Jersey. During Hurricane Sandy, Positano was one of the only restaurants opened and willing to deliver to Pompton Lakes for us. We had no power for eleven days and appreciated their delivery service during a time of need. Specialty pizzas are also no problem. A few family members cannot eat cheese and they make a lovely vegetable pizza for us without it. Their pastas and salads are equally delicious. Highly recommend if you're in the Wayne or Pompton area. read more

Positano is a great family-run Italian restaurant. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was part of their family. Stephen (owner) greeted us and got us a table in less than 10 minutes and with a huge line of people both with and without reservations. The main reason we were here was to try out the food and experience prior to booking the restaurant for a private event. A huge plus is that the food is affordable while also offering BYOB. The service is really fast and friendly. It's a no rush atmosphere and so the cadence of the experience is spaced out so that you can enjoy your company and meal. The bread basket was probably my favorite part because they had these hot buttery garlic knots. No additives necessary, but paired with the marinara from the calamari it's amazing! I went with the chicken parm staple and it was great. Everyone else seemed pretty happy with their selections as well. I'd recommend visiting for lunch or dinner if you're in the area. read more

This was my first ever visit to Postiano. It was a Saturday at 12:30pm. The entrance is at the pizzeria section. I was told to continue on and seat myself at a table of my choosing. It's a small restaurant since the pizzeria takes up some space. I received a specials menu but ordered the lasagna. I ate my meal while listening to "Joanna" from Kool And The Gang and "Kiss From A Rose" from Seal. There was one television but turned off. My meal was delightful but not quite filling. I did wind up choosing the tiramisu. Alfredo was welcoming and pleasant. Also, It looks like they sell pizza slices which works out if you're there for a quick bite. read more

And if you want EGGPLANT parmesan you will get CHICKEN parmesan! Then if you talk to them about it they just say "mistakes happen". I never in my life ordered 50$ worth of food and LITTERLY every single thing was wrong! They then promised me a refund I never got it. I called back they said a couple days. Still never got it.
