The Mozzarella God is exactly what the name promises. Elite. I stumbled across The Mozzarella God today at Edgemont Park during Montclair's 4th of July celebration after a friend told me it was a must-try--and I'm so glad I listened. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered the "Tony Soprano"--deep-fried mozzarella topped with vodka sauce, freshly grated pecorino, and chopped basil. Simple concept, but the execution? Heavenly. The cheese pull was unreal--the kind that stops conversations and gets everyone around you staring. The breading? Perfectly seasoned and crisped to the gods. And the mozzarella itself had a richness and flavor I honestly wasn't expecting. It wasn't just cheese--it had character. But what really sent it over the top was that vodka sauce. Creamy, balanced, and wildly addictive. I came dangerously close to drinking the leftover sauce straight. Whoever made it? Needs a plaque, a podcast, and probably a cooking show. One of the best I've ever had--period. The pecorino and basil added just the right touch of sharpness and freshness to round everything out. I didn't even get into their sandwiches yet, but if this was just the appetizer... I can't wait to come back. This isn't just one of the best mozzarella dishes I've had--it's a full-blown experience.

I stopped by The Mozzarella God today at a food truck festival in Pequonnock. There was about 15-20 food trucks and stands at the event and The Mozzarella God by far had the most people hopping in line to try their food. I figured that with the long line that it must be good. When i hopped in line there was about 20 people ahead of me and to my surprise, it only took about 10 minutes for them to take our order and another 5-10 minutes to get our food. I asked the owner for his favorite and he recommended an off the menu special, big poppa (i believe the menu rotates depending on the event and the season) Big poppa was fresh prosciutto, a chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, arugula, & lettuce. My friend got the Artie bucco, which was fried mozzarella, arugula, fried prosciutto, & fig jam. Both sandwiches were spectacular! You can tell that there was so much thought put into every part of each sandwich, from the seasoning on the chicken cutlet, to the sweet and tangy flavor of the arugula, to the most important part, the flavorful mozzarella. This was hands down the best mozzarella that I've had, and I can't wait to come back. Since they are a food truck and don't have a storefront, they are in different locations every day, but if you look at their website, or on their instagram, they post their spots daily as to where they'll be. Thanks for an incredible meal, MozzGod!

Mussels with a Vino bianco, herbs and filone toast for the appetizer and the Ricotta Cavatelli (alla mema) with broken meatballs and sausage sugo. Good grief the vino bianco/herb cream sauce on the mussels was incredible! Really! I could not get enough of it. I don't believe we've ever seen mussels on their menu, but man! These were phenomenal! The only complaint would be that there were not enough of the mussels. The ricotta cavatelli was also amazing... as are all of Viaggio's pasta dishes and sauces. Gelato stawberry/maple gelato was maybe the best gelato I've ever had. Not sure if they have this on their 'normal' menu, but if they do, I'm going to need some more. Sadly, once we 'dove' into the food... we forgot to take pictures. :-( Maybe next time! Just go. You won't be disappointed.

I had my back to the bar, but from what I was able to see this is a very cozy place. Service was quick and attentive, and we did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy a pleasant time chatting. Drinks: the black walnut Manhattan, Fig jam old fashioned, wine , beer and port. Drinks were all excellent, i tasted the Manhattan and enjoyed it over the Fig Jam. For apps: Clams oreganato (the couple with us enjoyed this), flat bread (was much more like pizza than flat bread, but still tasty, per my husband), and on the special New England Clam Chowder which was very good, not too thick and decent and fresh clams in it. Entrees: Shrimp Risotto scampi, very flavorful Risotto cooked perfectly. Two of us ordered the Cajun Mahi Mahi, over spinach with mashed, and 2 shrimp. the Cajun sauce was tasty with the perfect amount of heat, shrimp and mahi-mahi fresh and cooked perfectly. Rigatoni Bolognese which my husband enjoyed and said it was almost as good as my Italian mother's (like a good son-in-law) lol Dessert: Crème Brûlée - Brûlée was perfect, the crème was a little too thick for me. I ate it and enjoyed it, but not the best I've had. My husband ordered the key Lime Pie happy that it did not include nuts in the crust as some do, he thought it was good. Overall we had an enjoyable albeit pricy meal with good service. I would come back if other's wanted to go but it would not be my go to place.

Appetizers: arancini, calamari, and eggplant parm. All were exceptionally good. Next time, I plan on having the arancini and eggplant as my main meal. My better half had the pappardelle special, which I happily finished after she couldn't eat any more. Prima had the monkfish, which she's still talking about a week later. I had the cacio e pepe--perfectly balanced in flavor. For dessert, we shared hazelnut gelato, just as good as any we've had in Europe. BYOB, plenty of parking, and the ambiance was excellent. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu after the deep freeze. Looking forward to having a bike nights this coming spring/summer.

The reservation was easily made via Yelp. We have discovered this establishment by chance every time en route to one of the entrances on Garrett Mountain. Unfortunately, the exterior doesn't draw one in. However, upon arrival as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and got a table in the corner at this cozy, warm, and welcoming interior with simple decor of pictures of Italy and music playing throughout the two dining areas. The menu offered Southern Italian cuisine and was limited, but we found meals we liked. Miguel was our server and made us feel so welcome; he read out the specials. As an appetizer, we decided on the Polpette Amore (meatballs) and Charcuterie Board. For our main meal, we opted for Papardelle Bolognese, Linguine Alle Vongole, and Lasagna. Complimentary bread started our meal. The pasta was homemade, but the meat sauce was bland. The Linguine Alle Vongole was tasty and well seasoned. The portions were healthy, and the price was comparable to the area. The staff was super attentive and always taking good care of us.

Great italian bread with an amazing olive oil for dipping. Olive oil is nicely spiced and includes a shaved cheese. Fried calamari was perfectly done. They offer mild or spicy marinara and we were able to get both for the table. Yummy! Great marinara!! Complimentary salad is a nice plus especially these days. Huge serving. Classic salad ingredients except topped with minced italian meats and cheese. A light italian dressing. De-lious. Chicken parm entree was thinly sliced and perfectly fried, lots of cheese in a wonderful marinara sauce, side of pasta included. Pork braciole over homemade gnocchi was amazing. Pork was fork tender and expertly stuffed and seasoned. Gnocchi were soft and fluffy. Another huge portion. I had it for 3 meals. Crispy salmon over mushroom risotto was perfection. Salmon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Risotto was beautiful made with lots of mushrooms. So creamy! Just a bit too much finishing olive oil for our taste. Cappuccino was delicious with a big whipped cream top. Tartufo ice cream is traditional and delicious. A wonderful restaurant.
