I finally got to meet up with "The Mozzarella God" I tell you, you have to try this. It's mouthwatering just looking at the menu. The sandwiches are nice size to.(BTW they were cut in half and only ate a quarter of each...filled me up) I got the Uncle Paulie Sandwich: Fresh chicken cutlet, fried mozzarella on toasted cheesy garlic bread topped with fresh basil, pecorino cheese and a side of vodka sauce. The Mozzarella God is exactly what the name promises. Elite. I stumbled across The Mozzarella God today at Edgemont Park during Montclair's 4th of July celebration after a friend told me it was a must-try--and I'm so glad I listened. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered the "Tony Soprano"--deep-fried mozzarella topped with vodka sauce, freshly grated pecorino, and chopped basil. Simple concept, but the execution? Heavenly. The cheese pull was unreal--the kind that stops conversations and gets everyone around you staring. The breading? Perfectly seasoned and crisped to the gods. And the mozzarella itself had a richness and flavor I honestly wasn't expecting. It wasn't just cheese--it had character. But what really sent it over the top was that vodka sauce. Creamy, balanced, and wildly addictive. I came dangerously close to drinking the leftover sauce straight. Whoever made it? Needs a plaque, a podcast, and probably a cooking show. I stopped by The Mozzarella God today at a food truck festival in Pequonnock. There was about 15-20 food trucks and stands at the event and The Mozzarella God by far had the most people hopping in line to try their food. I figured that with the long line that it must be good. When i hopped in line there was about 20 people ahead of me and to my surprise, it only took about 10 minutes for them to take our order and another 5-10 minutes to get our food. I asked the owner for his favorite and he recommended an off the menu special, big poppa (i believe the menu rotates depending on the event and the season) Big poppa was fresh prosciutto, a chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, arugula, & lettuce. My friend got the Artie bucco, which was fried mozzarella, arugula, fried prosciutto, & fig jam. Both sandwiches were spectacular! You can tell that there was so much thought put into every part of each sandwich, from the seasoning on the chicken cutlet, to the sweet and tangy flavor of the arugula, to the most important part, the flavorful mozzarella. This was hands down the best mozzarella that I've had, and I can't wait to come back. Since they are a food truck and don't have a storefront, they are in different locations every day, but if you look at their website, or on their instagram, they post their spots daily as to where they'll be. Had their food at two different local street fairs and I really wish they had a restaurant so I could go all the time! The service was very fast and friendly. Despite the busy crowd, it only took about 5 minutes to get the food out which was great. Over the course of two days we got the Tony Soprano, the Uncle Paulie and the Artie Bucco and all three were amazing. We were blown away that such great quality food can come from a food truck. The had food truck at the annual Pequannock Hoedown on Saturday 10/15/22. We were very excited when we saw this truck as we had never heard of them. We got the uncle paulie which is a chicken cutlet with deep fried mozzarella on top. Sorry to say it was disappointing. There are not enough great things to say about The Mozzarella God. Not only is the owner, Mike, an awesome guy... but the food speaks for itself! Everything is fresh, DELICIOUS, and the main ingredient is LOVE. You can tell he loves what he does and it translates beautifully into his food. The Sopranos themed names are also so fun and creative. The "Carmelo Soprano" is my favorite dish thus far (mozz, fried eggplant, tomato and fresh Prosciutto). If you're lucky enough to try his empenadas, those are also amazing. Actually so is the Uncle Paulie. And the Tony Soprano.
