Great shop for passport photos. I needed some for my non-US passport, which is a different size. No worries, they had all the measurements already templated, unlike my local Pacifica Walgreens which sent me back and forth 3 times before telling me they couldn't do it after all. Bastards! A Foto Video Mail and More couldn't have been more different. From go to whoa was less than 10 minutes, they gave me some extras that were left over, and the bloke I dealt with was polite, efficient and friendly. I thoroughly recommend these guys. read more

Excellent, professional walk-in passport photo service. No wait on a Sunday afternoon. Unlike my sh*tty experience at the local Walgreens (blurry photos, incorrectly sized, taken with a point-and-shoot behind the counter), A Foto uses specialized equipment, professional lighting, and were totally knowledgeable about both USCIS and Canadian Passport photo regulations ( I needed both ). Since I needed several copies, pricing worked out to be cheaper than Walgreens! Works out to ~$15 for the shot, and ~$1 for each print needed. Money very well spent to avoid delays and processing fees due to unacceptable photos submitted for immigration purposes. Note, I wouldn't use their P.O. Box service--the wall of 'locked' mailboxes is out in the middle of the sales floor unattended, and anyone can walk to the open back side of the boxes and remove mail from them. read more

Went in to mail a bunch of packages home to friends in Canada. Ended up selling me the packaging for a very reasonable cost, but shipping cost was ridiculous ($81?!) told me it would be about $5/package at USPS, and told me how to get there. Great service! Update: Within hours of posting the below review, I was contacted by the business owner and was offered a full refund. Bottom line - if you're applying for visa or passport of unusual countries, please read the fine lines and tell the folks at this store the precise requirements. Once again, these guys talk a photo worthy of a 10 year commitment i.e. passport. ------------ Initial review: Dec 30, 2013 FAIL. Australian passport photo. They read the first line of instructions (total photo dimension), but not the rest (face dimension). $23 worth of photos rejected. The quality of the photo is good. What a shame. read more

This place is just ok and have experienced better. I went there based on the five star reviews. I would rate them like this: Customer service - 1 star - the guy that was helping me was close to arrogant and didn't listen what I had to say. On top of that he was helping 3 more customers at the same time while he was teaching other person how to take over his shift. Photos - 2 stars - they were just ok but he did ask me which one I liked the best. But when he printed out it was not the quality I thought it would be. Service - fast but not high quality! Getting a document notarized should not be a memorable experience. Sadly, my experience at A+ MailBoxes was memorable in a bad way. My wife and I needed to have a very sensitive document notarized on a Saturday and Yelp linked us to A+ as the only notary available near our house. When we presented our documents to Hassan Ahmed, he told us that he could not notarize it because it was "illegible". Since this was patently false, my wife and I asked him which portion of the document he could not read. He admitted that he could read it, but it was "too light". We explained that this was our only version of the document and it was completely legible. He then told us that he "could go to jail" for notarizing a document with light print. I told him that it was difficult to believe that he could go to jail for notarizing a legible document with no missing pages and we had identification that matched the names on the document. He told us that we needed to reprint the documents (using his services of course) in order to have them notarized by him. My wife and I thought about walking out, but it was late on a Saturday and were under a tight timeline. Given the sensitive and frankly heartbreaking nature of the documents, Mr. Ahmed could not have been any more insensitive, rude, or obtuse. I never thought that I would read the CA Notary Handbook and different resources for notaries, but I could not find a single online resource to reinforce Mr. Ahmed's claim that one could not notarize a lightly printed document. I even read an article from the National Notary Association (which I'd definitely recommend for Mr. Ahmed before he traumatizes any other customers): https://www.nationalnotary.org/notary-bulletin/blog/2015/07/when--no-and-when-refusing-not-allowed In the past, I've had pleasant (if not unmemorable) experiences at Anytime Services on 25th Street for documents that required notarization. I think this might be cheapest place to get passport photos. I don't know when passport photos got to be so expensive, it seems like most places charge $20 for two little photos, but at this place I was able to get 12 photos for $38. read more

Super patient and very knowledgeable when it comes to the passport paperwork. Wish the DMV would outsource to them so our driver's license photos don't have to look like mugshots. Great job on passport photos. Set-up & lighting is well more professional than places like the UPS Store or Walgreens, and they don't vain-shame you for disliking and re-taking photos. You wouldn't think it'd matter for a document that no one ever sees but yourself and the immigration officers. But it does for some of us, and in which case, get your photo taken here. read more

I came here during the week to get a livescan expecting that it was going to take forever, but it was quick and painless. There was only one other person when I walked in and two people working,so I was helped right away. The guy helping me has obviously done the scans many times so it was all very smooth. I went to a UPS store a few years ago to get the same scan and it took FOREVER!!! I'm glad the organization I'm volunteering for recommended this place because if they hadn't i might have gone back to UPS...YUCK! This place is great. Came here on a Friday afternoon a few months ago for the very important and momentous occasion of getting our dom par papers notarized. The owner was so kind and gracious, really treated it like it was a special event, allowed our maid of honor/friend to take photos (not of the other names in the notary book of course) and even said "You may now kiss the bride". The truth is, I was a little nervous about who would be helping us with this task, as you just never know what kind of personal beliefs people have, but we were treated with respect and kindness. BEWARE. Very expensive. Printing and scanning are about 2x as costly as another place I found on Mission St. Wow. Looked for prices on their site for passport photos, etc. Not listed. Tried calling and got a loop of a robo answering machine. BAD. NEWS. BEARS. U.S. passport replacements require JUST ONE photo. Of course, can't get and pay for just ONE PHOTO. No. That would make too much sense. Instead pay almost $18 w/ tax for FOUR. (Give the other 3 extra photos to significant other to put in a wallet)?!?! Sell JUST ONE PHOTO people. Call it $5 bucks and done. So go somewhere else that is less $$$$ and offers better customer service. read more

TIP: Review the information before they submit it. Livescan operators might enter your info incorrectly and will cause you a lot of hassle if your live-scans are rejected. If your livescan is rejected, You should to clarify "resubmission" or "new" submission with your licensing board. Currently, there is a computer glitch in DOJ/FBI computer system update with resubmission livescan processing. You should contact the board issuing your license after resubmissions to get them to manually make sure they are processed correctly. To do a resubmission, you have to bring in hard copies of the rejection letter from the DOJ for either new/resubmissions, all receipts aka "application for live-scan". I was told by the Issuing Board that I need to get a NEW submission requiring to pay DOJ fees again, which is not correct. Any technical errors in the application should be "resubmissions" and be free of charge. Livescan operators WILL make you pay for any new submissions even if their techs make the error and will NOT even give you a full refund if you want to go elsewhere. In my case, I didn't even get an apology upfront, which was the worst thing. They said they have "minimal responsibility". Livescan operators will not provide much guidance unless you pry and push for it because they legally aren't responsible for in dealing with rejections. Hope you dont have to deal with this type of hell.... read more

The one man show and owner (unfortunately did not get his name) provided a thorough and EXCELLENT Live Scan for me. (Live Scan digitally captures an individual's fingerprints so that they may be transmitted electronically to the State of California Department of Justice and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Notary Public candidates are required to get one done in order to become a commissioned NP) My Live Scan took longer than normal (20 minutes??) My fingertips were dry enought that the equipment could not accurately scan 100% of surface of fingertip on the first and up to 3rd/4th try. (A warning to NP candidates: make sure hands and fingertips are smooth/well hydrated and not dry and cracked prior to Live Scan) The owner patiently tried multiple times to get accurate fingerprints for all fingers by trying numerous techniques (slowly rolling fingertip over scan left to right and vice versa, etc) in order to get a Live Scan that will not be rejected by the FBI. He did that while solely & simultaneously juggling four other customers in his shop, maintaining good humor & a helpful attitude). Just so you know, he did not have to make multiple attempts. Legally he is obligated to try only three times regardless if the fingerprint was successfully and wholly read by equipment. Because of his efforts and integrity, he ensured my Live Scan was promptly approved & processed by the FBI within one business day. (As a side note, I had previously visited his shop a few weeks prior to day of actual Live Scan when hands were severely dry & cracked. I was told by him to come back after hands were hydrated. He had even suggested a couple of ways to hydrate them! He did not want to take my money knowing that my Live Scan would be rejected. Unlike the first merchant who did and caused MAJOR delays to this whole process!) I will be returning to him should I need other like services. read more

Very friendly service! I went in for a passport photo around 1:30. The wait was short, and the only reason I had to wait was because the guy was helping a few customers that had arrived before me. Process was quick and easy; I even got to pick out of quite a few pictures which one I liked the most. Some other reviewers said that they didn't get to pick, or had a limited selection. I guess it depends on who helps you and how busy the place is. Overall, very positive experience. read more

Initially, I walked past the place because it looked empty and not like a business at all (especially in the very busy crowded streets near 21st and Mission). I went here to get my Japanese passport photo taken and felt bad because the only sample I had was the garbled webpage with a faint guide on it (I seriously couldn't find specifications for Japanese passport photos on a non-Japanese website). The guy was so nice, took my picture twice - probably because I looked "sad" in my first one - and got me out of there in less than 10 minutes. Very efficient, very friendly. I'll find out soon enough if my picture looked stern enough to meet Japanese passport guidelines. read more

My wife and I made an appointment here for adoption notarizations, over thirty in all. This was our second visit and the first since they moved to their new location. If you have a need covered by this business, then I cannot recommend them highly enough. Ours was an urgent mission that spanned about 45 minutes of notary action and a last minute overnight Fedex package. The two gentlemen that run this place practice excellent customer service, have a sense of urgency, and pay attention to detail. Each time I've been in here I've been helped by the same middle-aged Indian man, and he has always been extremely professional, courteous, and attentive. This place currently only charges 2 dollars to use the computer to print up to five pages, which is a lot cheaper than any of the other mail service places I've been to in the city (another place was going to charge me 5 bucks just to use the computer to print something). This company has multiple posts both on Yelp and other online resources, and all they are doing is changing their business name and maybe their phone number. My guess is that they do change their name to avoid bad reviews. It also makes it fairly annoying for customers because it wastes our time because we call their multiple posts with different numbers trying to get information, only to find that it is the same place. Then the employees at the store have the audacity to get mad at us for calling them multiple times when it is the owner's fault for posting the company under multiple names with different phone numbers. Here are just a few of the names they have used: Live Scan Fingerprinting, e Live Scan, A Foto Video Mail & More... I think the latter is their actual name. Now on to their service. Well, I can't really say much about that because I will not be using their services after calling them. When I called today (May 27, 2014), I got a very rude person who refused to explain services the company had for finger printing. When I pressed the the employee on the line for pricing, he just hung up on me! The person was male and had an Indian accent. I am not writing down the person's ethnicity because I think it is a factor in their service. I am only including it because I hope the manager reads this and knows exactly who I am talking about and can reprimand the employee. When I tried calling back directly after the person hung up on me, suddenly they were not answering the phone any more. I tried calling back three times and was sent to their automated message each time. I use Yelp a lot, but hardly ever write reviews, even bad ones because I have a lot of patience when it comes to low quality service, but this was just disrespectful. read more

I went to Walgreens across the street to get my passport picture taken and hated the experience so decided to come here instead. Like a previous Yelper pointed out, Walgreens was taken with a point and shoot behind the counter and the employee didn't really know what they were doing. A Foto was much more professional, friendly and provided high quality pictures. I got 4 pictures for $15. I could tell he had done this a million times before because he was checked to make sure I filled out my documents correctly and helped me FedEx my materials to the Passport Agency. He also took a bunch of test photos for me until I was pleased with my picture! So great. I highly recommend A Foto. read more
