So let me start by saying this is my first Yelp review. The service was so bad, I felt a need to speak out to warn future customers. I have been infrequently sending letters and packages for my business from Postal Annex for well over 10 years, and have seen several changes in owner/operators, but this last owner/operator is really bad. I needed to send 2 - LG 27" monitors back for service. I had all the packaging and labels, and was simply looking for a FedEx drop-off location. I had not sealed the boxes because I seem to remember them wanting to see the content before they sealed the box. I may be mistaken about needed to leave the box unsealed. I set my 2 big boxes on the counter, and waited. A man, who seemed to be the operator, and an Asian woman, whom I recognized from previous visits, came out from the back, and the man helped me. I told him I was dropping off for FedEx. He said OK and said I needed to seal them, and that I could buy a roll of tape to seal them and pointed to the wall behind me. Now, having shipped from them before, I knew he had a tape gun next to him under the counter. So I asked him "Could you please seal the box for me?" as they had done several times before without me asking. He replied (with attitude): "Why should I do that for you? I have never seen you in my store before?" I turned to the woman and asked "Have you seen me in your store before?" And she replied sheepishly, "Yes". The man begrudgingly reached below the counter, grabbed the tape gun, and put a strip of tape on each box to seal them. I said nothing else and left. Now this pissed me off - as a business owner and a customer. He is basically saying that he will not extend himself in the spirit of customer service for anyone that is not already giving him money - God forbid if you are a new customer - and he is willing to jeopardize his customer relationships over the cost of a strip of boxing tape! He has ensured that I will never walk into his store again. If you are looking for a friendly local mailing supply business, I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Terrible customer service. They make you pay for taping services if you have a prepaid package. Other postalannex stores don't do this. When I brought that up, they gave me attitude and said you have to pay for your own tape at the post office. I would never purchase anything from here because of my terrible experience. Stopped in here to ship off a lens I sold on eBay. I packaged it in two little boxes but my packaging was flimsy. Kudos to PostalAnnex for convincing me that my lens WILL get crushed by heavier boxes on the loading belt and for just a couple of bucks, she packaged it nicely in a much sturdier box. There are 6+ Postal/UPS Stores within 5 minutes of this place including OfficeMax at the Marketplace, the UPS Store on Jeffrey and Trabuco, and even the pharmacy on Culver and Walnut, so there's absolutely no reason to go here and put up with slow service, rudeness and yelling from a grumpy old lady. I'm not alone - I've seen her do it to others. Here's my story: I've been here numerous times. Most were uneventful, if curt, exchanges, but my most recent experience was horrible. I go in to drop off a small manila envelop for UPS pick-up and only need a small piece of tape to seal it - a matter that should take 60 seconds. Both attendants were busy and it was obvious they would be a while. I'm quietly looking for a tape dispenser to help myself when the attendant, an older lady of Asian descent, angrily yells that she is busy and the other attendant would help me as soon as he was available. I said "That's fine, I just need a small piece of tape. Do you have one?" She rolls her eyes and angrily repeats that the other attendant will help me when he's ready. After patiently waiting about ten minutes for a task that should have taken a few seconds, I see the tape dispenser laying on the counter right in front of her - it was not being used and was never offered to me. I walk over to grab a piece of tape from the dispenser when she stomps over, snatches the dispenser off the counter and throws it behind the counter while glaring at me. She yells at me, "You need to wait!" To which I reply, "You don't need to be rude." We repeat these lines two or three times. The male attendant - it turns out he's the owner - takes the package from me and says - get this, "We're not obligated to take packages from anyone." Baffled and angry, I ask if he is going to take the package or not, and start walking out. On my way out, I decide to try to make amends as I may be visiting the store in the future and say "Bye" to the lady attendant and she responds by dropping her head while exhaling loudly, rolling her eyes as if annoyed and completely ignores me. I leave because I have better things to do than deal with such unprovoked rudeness. I call the next day to go over the situation with the manager and end up speaking with the owner - the male attendant working that day. He explains to me that she was stressed because "A customer brought in several packages that we needed to process and we're not obligated to take packages from anyone." Forgive me, but if you're stressed about processing packages - one of the least stressful jobs I can imagine - when you work AT THE UPS STORE, you need to find another job. Additionally, being stressed doesn't give you free license to be an ass, especially when you work in customer service, otherwise we would all be running around swearing at everyone all day long. To make matters worse, I had previously seen this very same lady yelling at another customer over who-knows-what just a few months prior. Oh, and the owner doesn't feel the need to take packages from anyone, so just take your packages elsewhere so you don't disturb him. Like I said, there are 6+ Postal/UPS stores within 5 minutes or less of this place including OfficeMax at the Marketplace and even the pharmacy on Culver and Walnut, so there's absolutely no reason you would need to go here and put up with rudeness and yelling from a grumpy old lady. I have been going here for years. Never had excellent service, it was always ok. Average. Sometimes even rude. I believe it might be because how I look. I usually come in wearing basketball shorts and wearing my prescription sunglasses (expecting a in and out quick polite service). Today was the final straw. Whenever I drop off my Amazon UPS packages,I always get a receipt with tracking number (it saved me a few times). But today. Only at this location, I was denied a receipt. The owner told me straight,"UPS Ground doesn't get receipt." I was shocked when he said that. I responded in a shocking manner that that simply isn't true. I needed to ship a return item and it was very fast and easy. The lady that helped me was loud and direct but she was not rude at all. I think other reviewers might just be a little sensitive. I don't need to have a lovely conversation with someone that is shipping my items. That's what friends are for. Her choosing of employees is wonderful, from Eric (who is no longer there) to Zsu Zsu who has the best service ever, you won't encounter a rude bone here. I've been coming here for 3 years, they have a nice selection of random things in case you are in the mood to shop as well, you might find that special cat figurine, holiday card or Easter Island tissue box you never realized you needed. read more

Several weeks ago, I tried to have a document notarized on behalf of an LLC, of which I am the manager. The owner refused to sign the acknowledgment for an LLC, insisting that he is permitted to acknowledge only for individuals, even though the language of the California general-use Acknowledgment expressly references an individual representing that s/he has signed on behalf of an "entity." The owner called his mentor, who stubbornly insisted that he was correct. Neither seemed willing to read or comprehend the clear language of the Acknowledgment. I had to visit another location, where the individual actually understood plain English and the requirements of the law. The Secretary of State should cancel their license as notaries. I also agree with the other reviewer who referred to the Asian lady as obnoxious. She is loud and obnoxious. read more

I don't remember the lady's name off-hand who works here, but she seems legitimately *excited* about postage, which is pretty damn commendable imo. I always have my questions answered here, and have received awesome and expeditious assistance getting my stuff shipped. Even though I live in Tustin, I will usually gladly go out of my way to ship my stuff here because I know it'll be cheap and be done right. read more

I have also been satisfied with the service, especially in the areas of faxing and using the notary. Although they may not be the fastest operators, they are the most accurate paying great attention to detail. I myself have never had problems with the middle-aged Asian man who works there but I have heard him in some rather heated discussions with other customers. I have never met or seen a Josie who works there nor any woman. Lastly the rush of 5 star ratings with addresses such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, or even Ladera Ranch (who really uses a Postal Annex 9 from their home?) really looks like someone who called in friends and family to counter a rash of bad reviews. I would like to see more store replies countering the review or admitting to the poor service and telling how they're going to improve it in the future. read more

THey once lost a package of mine that they signed for, it was a $60 piece of merchandise and the best Josie could come up with is, "I'll pay half of it". All in all, these places are all the same, but you may be better served finding a different one where the owner has a decent attitude. read more

We dropped off two packages, FedEx and UPS Ground, on August 21, 2015. Someone at the store took both our packages and said that the two packages will go out that day. A week later, we noticed that the UPS package did not arrive at the destination. So we looked into this and found out that the package never left the store. We called the Postal Annex store and the owner, Chinese woman, claims that we never dropped off the package. We keep a detailed record of all packages sent out and even mileage to different stores where we drop off packages. On top of all this, the owner is rude and bossy. Not recommended! read more

We just went today to get our refinance loan docs notarized. A young Korean guy named Eric helped us and was super nice and patient. We called around to 3 different notary places (UPS Store at Alton, UPS Store at Culver, and this place) and was quoted the same price: 10 bucks per signature...We went with this place due to a Yelper's solid review of the notary services (dated 5/7/12). Sure enough, Eric helped us through everything and even offered us a new FedEx envelope and seal (for our return label) rather than us having to use the old, reusable one that our lender asked us to use...Eric even peeled off the seal and packaged it nicely for us...Talk about first rate service! We plan on going back for anything that requires notarizing...We can't speak to the other services provided there, as we only went to get our refinance docs notarized. Good for drop offs, but don't buy USPS stamps there. They told me it's the same price as USPS, but they charge .10 more per stamp. A book of first class stamps cost me $11.80 for 20 when it should run $9.80. read more

I've been coming to this postal annex since it opened. While it has undergone some ownership changes, the service has always been prompt and courteous. I've shipped many packages here and they have always done a great job packaging my items so they arrive safely. Many people I ship to have commented on how well packaged my items are. I have also used their notary services but that was when Eric was there. I have been in a few times with the most recent owners and they seem also very accommodating and friendly. We just love this Postal Annex! They are friendly, attentive to details, and always make sure things are done right at the lowest price. We have a postal box and are extremely happy with their service. If a special or large package comes in, we are personally called. Also a few times we've mailed letters with incorrect postage (due to thickness) and the staff has noticed before the letters have gone out. They hold open the door for our massive double stroller and are always friendly to our children. We are extremely happy with our choice and would highly recommend this location! read more

I have been coming to this postal annex for many years. I try to avoid the long lines at the post office and this is where i prefer to go. They are locally owned and the owner has some sharp young people working for him. They take good passport pics, and are patient with the kids pics too. Notaty, copy, international mailing, you name it, i have used them and never had a problem. The lines are never long. Super convenient because it is next to albertsons, chipotle, starbucks, etc. read more
