I've been coming to Postal Annex for YEARS, and it used to be my go-to for high-quality service and friendly staff. Unfortunately, that's changed recently. One employee in particular is consistently unfriendly and off-putting, which makes the whole experience less welcoming. On top of that, charging $2-$3 (changes every time which seems VERY odd) just to put a piece of tape on a box feels excessive. To add, no other Postal Annex has EVER charged me for tape which makes me wonder why just here?? I used to choose Postal Annex over FedEx, USPS, and UPS because they were genuinely helpful--now it feels like I'm just wasting my money. At this point, I'd rather drive farther or go to a main carrier. I hope they figure it out in the future and for other customers. read more

This is in a very convenient location in downtown Mill Valley. I have used this Annex for postage, parcels, UPS and notary service, and have always found the staff to be polite, diligent and helpful. In addition, they did me a great courtesy when, obtaining notary service, I inadvertently left my ID on the counter; fortunately, the notary process includes leaving a phone number. One of their staff, realizing what happened, promptly set the ID safely aside, and left a phone message for me. In all, I highly recommend them. read more

One lady was super nice. She was newish. She handed me tape to attach a label. Then the women in charge said that cost $3.00. The amount isn't the issue. It's being over charged for a strip of tape after using it, not before. This place is ridiculous and can see why it only has three stars. She was so upset over the tape that she refused my package. That rate is 50 cents cheaper than the mailing place across the street and almost a dollar cheaper than the Kinkos nearby. I frequent many businesses in Mill Valley and was shocked when I encountered the owner of this place. Unfortunately, I really like the professional, kind woman who works for her but the owner makes her presence known the minute you walk in the door. I was the only person in the entire place and was shipping something. While talking with the woman (poor thing) who works there, the owner heard me talking and ordered me to move away from the counter to finish filling out my Fed Ex forms, etc.. She accused me of interrupting other customers by filling out my form and chatting with her employee. Again, the store was EMPTY. I have only been in there one other time and they refuse to give customers a receipt of a UPS shipment which is vital for proof of shipment. No thanks, I'll drive to Sausalito if I have another Fed Ex shipment. Stay away from this place. read more

I love the convenience of having a place in downtown Mill Valley to ship packages and drop off UPS and Fed-Ex returns. The prices seem higher that at the UPS store so I only use them when I have to. The people who work there never smile, look unhappy and are not friendly. Whenever I drop off pre-paid and labeled packages they shoot daggers at me with their eyes. I went in to drop off a few packages today so I could get them out before I went on my holiday weekend. This place was packed, line out of the door actually. I saw that it was only 1 person behind the counter and she was super busy, so I waited patiently until she could get to me. There were people walking in and leaving packages on the floor with a disrespectful disregard to us who were waiting and the lady behind the counter. There is a sign that says hand in all packages through the counter. Impatience at it's finest. There was a guy in line talking crap about her while he was waiting. Everyone just glared at him and looked away, and didn't respond. When it was his turn he turned sugary fake sweet and asked for a notary she told him give her a few minutes to clear everything off the counter, because the drivers are coming and needed to put them in the pile so they can take them and she could do his notary. He turned around and walked out. Such a snooty a*hole. Mill valley entitlement showed it's ugly head today. She was slammed but continued to give the rest of the customers excellent service after Mr Snooty left. She's a star read more

Almost everything they sell (cards, envelopes, tape etc.) is overprized. It's convenient for people who live in Mill Valley if you are able to find parking in front of the store. But if you think people who work at the regular post office are rude, then you haven't met the man and the lady working there. They always seem to be in the worst mood and give you rude answers to questions or just go away and leave you standing in the store. I experienced this several times and decided not to go back because I rather spend my money in stores where people are friendly to customers and I don't have to be upset when I walk out of the door. read more

This place is such a gem! I used to dread driving over to the Mill Valley Post Office as the parking lot is crazy stressful and the lines inside were always long. I was so happy to discover the Postal Annex right downtown! All I cared about was just getting my package mailed promptly and affordable​y. However, I was SO surprised and impressed by the level of customer service I received in that first visit. The female employee I dealt with was so personable and helpful that I felt the need to compliment her on her service before I left. That is also what brought me back for subsequent visits, where I dealt with the same employee and also another woman (possibly the owner?) who was equally gracious and went above and beyond in her service. I am sorry to have to downgrade my rating. I didn't realize how much of a markup they apply for postage and other services until recently. (I don't mind them charging a markup, but I think they should be open about it.) After I realized, I stopped using them so much. That wasn't enough for me to downgrade my rating - the rating downgrade is the experience I just had trying to drop off a package for UPS to pickup. It was an authorized return and the package was damaged a bit. I'd call up beforehand to see if this would be okay, and the person who answered said yes. So I schlepped the large package down to the store only to be told by the less-than-friendly owner that they would not take it. Very frustrating. read more

Unbelievable that they charge $7 to run two documents through their scanner to email to me! I think it was a total of 6 pages! What a rip off. Not to mention the way they do it is to use an email address that they then forward to my email address so while they say they delete it, I have to real proof that my highly confidential documents are not just sitting in the deleted box of their email account.... Terrible. The owners are always incredibly rude, unfriendly and with an attitude. In years I haven't ever found them smiling or friendly. Only the nice younger lady that previously worked at the UPS store is a refreshing exception. Today, I went in to drop off some packages and asked for a drop off place only to be yelled at in the rudest manner by the owner that I had to wait in line. Another customer commented to me as he walked what an incredible bad attitude the owner had had. I highly recommend to avoid this place and go to the place across the street. Most horrifying customer service ever. I'm still upset at what happened months later. Had to make a DHL drop off and I followed the return instructions that were provided online. The owner took a look at the package and berated me that it was missing a signature. He told me that it wasn't his job to fix it and that it should have been ready to go (even tho the worker told me it was okay--she even shook her head when I was getting yelled at). He threw a pen at me and told me to sign. I just wanted to take the package and leave. I would avoid at all cost. read more

I'm amazed that reviews are either 5 star or the opposite. I've been using Postal Annex for years for many things and their service has always been excellent! Their service is highly personalized. Fati, Abbas and their staff will go beyond the call of duty to help me. They have always been respectful, friendly and courteous. I wonder if the complainers are themselves guilty of behavior that generates a negative reaction. We know that there a portion of the Mill Valley population that are arrogant and entitled. Fati and Abbas are Iranian and culturally have a different affect than many Americans. They are not all bubbly and over the top positive in a manner that is often so inauthentic. Maybe the naysayers are unhappy that they are not treated in a deferential and effusive manner. I know which I prefer. I can't recommend Postal Annex too highly. read more

Rude, unfriendly owners who aren't and even remotely helpful. I went in here to print a simple one page document. They printed it but text had been shrunk and the margins were wrong. When I asked them if they could print according to the settings in the document (which showed up correctly on the computer they were using) they essentially threw me out of there store. I have had several excellent service experiences with this business recently. I've had numerous documents notarized, including some with extra work, and all were done correctly and quickly. The notary offered to make copies for me each time, especially helpful when I was mailing the originals upon completion. This week I brought in a large box to be mailed and the gentleman was extremely knowledgeable and recommended the most Cust effective delivery option among several companies. I have just returned from my very last trip to Postal Annex. The couple who own this store make a trip to the DMV look like a stay at the Four Seasons. Rude doesn't begin to cover it. Not a single person in line and there never is. I am someone who tries to support local businesses whenever possible and will continue to do so, with the exception of the shop. We got a box at the Postal Annex when we were getting ripped off with postal theft on our street. The USPS were negligent in dealing with this.
