I've only been in this Potbelly's during the hell blazes of lunch hour, and the line gets crazy. It moves quick and the staff is friendly as what you'd expect...which is like, really friendly! Have you ever encountered a real dbag employee at Potbelly's? Let's be real: no. They're all nice, and if you don't think they are nice, you're wrong and YOU'RE MEAN! So why the three stars? I don't know if we're in like a bad meat economy, but I feel skimped whenever I get a sandwich from here. Is it a bear market for turkey and salami? Idk. I'm not even a huge meat monger, but for reals! Slap some more turkey on that sandwich! There's like 2 baby slices on it and I can't even taste it in the sea of bread and amazing hot peppers. I only go to Potbelly's to make my dad jealous. I kid, I kid. I kind of got my dad hooked on Potbelly sandwiches when my brother & I took our parents to one in Dallas last year. Because that location is closer to my parents, they only get to Potbelly's once every few months when they make a day trip to Dallas. My parents have yet to experience the long lunch lines that go out the door and the order system of how this place works: Employee: MISS...MISS...Yes, you in the black coat. What are you having today? Me: *ahem* (attempting to yell and not scream into the ear of the guy standing next to me...I'm soft spoken), uh CHICKEN SAAAALLLAAD. Employee: Wheat or Regular? Me: Regular *wait wait wait...move forward about 5 inches/5 min...determine how many people put their business card in the fish bowl...decide if I want to put in my card in there too... wait...move forward...raise up to my tip-toes so employee can see me (sadly, i'm about the same height as the countertops...why do they make the counters so tall?)* I then proceed to tell what I want on my sandwich, which isn't much, and go pay. That's it. Nothing exciting. Potbelly's has decent sandwiches, and I guess I see why it might be worth something if I didn't have it as lunch/dinner option every day...not that I eat it everyday...gross. Best time to get a sandwich here...that is, if you can wait that long for lunch? I'd say about 1:15-1:30ish. The Wreck is where it's at. Add spicy peppers if you love a kick! I used to live above this Potbelly's and worked in West Loop, so I was here often. The service was always fast and efficient and the food on par every time. Just beware of the lunch rush, it definitely fills up! read more

I've had potbelly a handfull of times. I've had their Shakes - once. I loved it. There were chunks of strawberries and it didn't taste syrupy at all. There was a super long line, but when they found out I'm just ordering a shake - I went straight to the register. Yey. I'd definitely go back there just for the shake. I'm a pretty big fan of Potbelly. A good amount of food for a good price. A BIG (read their version of Venti / large) sandwich runs $5.70 + tax and tacking on some bacon adds $1.25. A small sandwich is $4. Steal. A better sandwich than Which Wich and definitely better than Subway for a good price. This location, despite being in a big office building in the loop has its own feel to it. A little nook over some booths, tchokeys all over the place -- A chain that doesn't feel like a chain. I'm a big fan of the breakfast sandwich square - Ham, Egg, and Mushroom - and I order it maybe once or twice a week (don't judge ... it's just the perfect size and I love it!). However, I docked stars because the morning crew at this location are a surly bunch of individuals. Even when I'm try to be pleasant, I feel like the girl taking orders has a grudge against me and my love of the breakfast square with no cheese (either this, or she needs to work on her customer service because she's unpleasant). And it's not just the person taking orders in the morning, it's everyone (actually, the cashier is usually pleasant). I usually go in after whatever morning rush they might have (9AM-ish) and it's usually empty. No matter what, when I specifically request no cheese on the sandwich, it still ends up melted all over my poor mushrooms and ham. So this morning, I took matters into my own hands and told the girl to be more careful with my sandwich. When I ask for no cheese, I mean it and she better remember it. (Ok, I wasn't that mean, but I made it quite clear I didn't want cheese on my sandwich and I didn't want a repeat of the same mistake from the previous day this week, and last week, and the week before.) So why am I making a big deal over just a little swiss cheese? Because if this person (or anyone else there) can be this careless when it's not remotely busy in the store, what other mistakes are being made when it is? I still plan on going to this Potbelly for my weekly breakfast square, but if there were another Potbelly in the area, I would go there instead, just to avoid the morning crew at this location. read more

If you're tired of subway and want to diversify your toppings then Potbelly is definitely the place for you. A tad bit pricier than subway, but you definitely get a bigger bang for your buck.I always get the chicken sandwich since I don't eat any pork or beef, it's never failed me. I ordered lunch online to avoid waiting in line in the store. (I'm pregnant but tiny & my belly is heavy - let me just get that out there!) Was given a 15 minute window on when the food would be ready. I waited until the end of the 15 minutes hoping not to wait longer than a few more minutes once arriving to the store. The line for online orders was 4 times longer than the regular line! I stood in that ridiculously long line for over 20 minutes (NO EXAGGERATION) before an employee started yelling out customer's names. I got my sandwich but not the sugar cookie I prepaid for online :( Unfortunately, I'm allergic to chocolate but of course that's all the cookies they had left. Very disappointing experience. I used to be a regular at the Potbelly at State & Lake, and visited this one today for the first time, and their staff is just amazing! Toppings lady was a bursting ball of positive energy + was hot, and the guy who offered me a "biggie" was hot stuff too! Tuna sandwich was a celebration for my tastebuds, as usual, and of course the most amazing balance between *quality food*, *quantity food* and *low price* you can find anywhere in the Loop. But this one is close to work and that counts for a lot in my book :) And as far as loop lunches go, it's probably one of the better deals out there (aside from the Subway sandwich of the day perhaps). While the line sometimes get long in the lunch rush, it seems to move quickly and there's usually a table available unlike other locations. Nice music to eat by. Yum yum I like Potbelly. I ordered the Italian and the mixed berry smoothie. I stopped by because the smell from the street was amazing. The smoothie tastes like it is made with soft serve ice cream and is one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I normally do not write reviews but I had a really good experience here with one of the workers. I had trouble ordering and a woman with freckles Manning the register helped me pick the order and was super kind. I really enjoyed coming here for breakfasts when I was in Chicago! Their breakfast sandwiches were great and it was located in the building I was in! It was a great location but sometimes they wouldn't have avocado already cut up and I couldn't get it because who has time to wait for avocado in the morning! Frequent customer of this location since it is in my building. I always order online through my app because the lines are crazy during the lunch hour. Ashley is an outstanding employee and always tries to have my order ready by the posted pick up time. Today (7/15/19) I ordered my sandwich online and when I went to pick it up Ashley wasn't there and I waited by the online pickup shelf for 10 minutes, then finally asked the cashier to check and she told me I had to wait in a separate line to inquire about the online order and then after waiting in that line she took my name and told me to wait. It took over 15 minutes to receive my online order. I never received an apology and there was no manager in sight. read more

Decided to visit this location during the lunch rush, so I get there will be longer lines and wait! But, you have exhausted food preparers who do a great job moving the line and getting the food out. However, my issue is with the shake area! What's the purpose of placing the shake order at the sandwich station just to wait an additional 7 minutes for the individual to make the shake. This process seems broken! After paying nearly $5 for a shake, I would expect to have a full shake not a half portioned, a lot of room left at the top shake! Readjust the price if you're selling half portioned shakes! If I wanted a "short shake", then I would have bought one! read more

On my last visit to Chicago for a concert with my husband, we stopped by this comfy sandwich diner. Their sandwiches were so good that we had to order one to go! We had their Turkey breast and "A Wreck" (salami, roast beef, turkey & ham with swiss cheese). I don't know what they put in these sandwiches but we couldn't stop eating. I wish we had a New York location! Their chocolate shake includes a vanilla cookie on top. So good with the sandwiches! This beats Panera and all other sub places. Although, the counter is an assembly line, you order and rush, the sandwiches are worth the wait and hassle! It changed my outlook of a sandwich. I wish, I was back there already! read more

The guy who rang me up was super cool and I had a chat with him Abt the A's and how deep they might make it in the playoffs... I was looking forward to grabbing some chili and a sandwich for a quick lunch at this location . To my disappointment I did not find the normal cheerful polite reception I've experienced at other Potbelly locations. Instead the staff was impatient-no actually rude. I would like to say it was one person but frankly three staff members (cashier and food preparer) found a way to be less than pleasant in my brief visit. It was if service was an inconvenience. My chili order was not correct. The sandwich meat was super skimpy. Overall, not a good experience. I likely won't return unless I'm in a pinch! read more

Keep having issues with online ordering where the sandwich isn't even being made until I come in. The folks who wait in line and order in house get through the process much faster. What's the point of the online ordering if it's not ready when it says it will be? Today ordered for 12:45 and purposely didn't show up until after 1 in hopes it would be ready. Showed up at 1:05 and still waited until 1:20. Was waiting in a line among about 20 other online orderers. When you got to the front of that line you said your name and about half of them were made already just waiting behind the counter (but not on the pick up shelf for some reason?) and the other half hadn't yet been started. The employees are working hard but don't seem to have the appropriate level of technology integration or support when it comes to an effective operating model. I like Potbelly so I'd still order it when I have time to stand around but definitely not if I'm in a rush. I hope it gets sorted out. The product is great so I really hope the experience matches that at some point. read more
