Hello. Tried Potbelly in Alexandria about a week ago. The location wasn't very busy for it to be lunch time. Got what was supposed to be the Chicken Club. Young lady that waited on me forgot the bacon and the chicken seemed like it was pressed and had been frozen and it tasted a little icy. I also got a cup of broccoli and cheese soup like looked like pudding it was so thick and it was slightly cold. Had to put some water in it to stretch it out as the texture was very off putting. I always use the order ahead, however, I still have to wait for my order at least 5 to 15 minutes every time I get there, making me late for planned activities or ... That defeats the whole purpose of ordering ahead. There is always a Spanish lady at the register, trying to organize everything and not doing a great job. She does not update the computer screen and you have to ask multiple times for your order. Trust me you're better off just ordering your sub there. It's a lot quicker. I always get the Italian sub and mac & cheese., however, the last few times I've ordered mac & cheese, it does not taste the same. It used to be delicious now it's barely edible. I threw my last order away. I don't know why it's so bad tasting now but I hope they get it together. read more

Potbelly near the Hampton Alexandria. The store was almost closed when I walked in around 9pm. Couple of staffs were busy wrapping up the business. But they said they could get me the sandwiches. Ordered an Avo Turkey, Veggie Melt and Mediterranean as Takeout. Staffs were so friendly and I have the hot sandwiches in no time! Greatly appreciate the help that night, they could easily said no as they had closed the store. This place has the same ambiance and interior as any other potbelly. Potbelly's has an interesting history, as it started off as an antique store that served up simple sandwiches, then turned into a full sandwich shop. They've been around since '77 and the original store was located on Lincoln Ave (in Chicago)! The menu offers a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, chilis, breakfast items, shakes, malts, smoothies, and baked goods. I am a HUGE fan of their Chicken Salad - get it toasted, with extra mayo and extra extra extra giardiniera - SO SO SO GOOD (AND, SO SO SO SPICY!!!)! You haven't had legit giardiniera until you've had it Chicago-style, specifically Potbelly's version! I love giardiniera so much that I bought a few of their jars! The staff here has always been welcoming and kind, and have always prepared the sammies accurately and with great care - I really appreciate that! If you have some room, don't forget to try their Dream Bar, which is a rich, chocolate-y oatmeal bar with sweet caramel - it is SO decadent, ooey and gooey, and it just satisfies any sweet tooth! The hubs prefer to get their Cookies n' Cream milkshake, as it's a great consistency and always chock-full of tons of Oreo crumbles. Haven't been here at Potbelly's for quite awhile and never to this location. 3 young men were working and covered the steps of the order: I ordered the Mediterranean original, with chips and the brownie cookie with 2 drinks. Let me note, that I love Potbelly. I have been to this location many times, I have no problem with their sandwiches. The problem I now have with this location is bugs. I went in yesterday to get a sub and there was a big fat, looked like a giant ant or something on top of the Italian seasoning shaker. I said to the employees, "Hey" and they were BSing and I guess they didn't hear me, I said "Hey" again and this time threw my arms in the air to get noticed, and they noticed me, I pointed down at the bug and their eyes got all big and they froze. I was like "Um, you gonna do something about this?" The guy took the seasoning away but at that point, my confidence was shot so I left. They need to change the counter so it's not so high so we as the customer can see the toppings area and that it's clean and in good order. This quaint little sandwich shop has made a lasting impact on my high school career. The smell of sandwiches and the themed decorations makes me instantly happy. As a student at a local high school, you could imagine that my days are long and boring. But when I visit potbelly at least twice every week, my day is sent on an upward trajectory. Not only is the food excellent, but the staff have taken care to get to know us and bring us our exact order every single visit. Despite ordering on my phone due to Gen-Z social anxiety, I truly get the feeling of what it means to be a regular. When I graduate this year, I will always look back on my time at Potbelly and know that it is, in fact, possible for a sandwich shop to be a genuine part of my high school experience. read more

I just came from this Potbelly location. I asked the young Asian sandwich maker if there were any fresh cookies in the back. She replied that she didn't know because she wasn't there this morning when they were made. I gave her time to offer to check for me. She did not offer. So I asked could you check please? She said yes. I saw her checking the cookies and she found one which I thanked her for. Then I said could you get two more. She looked disappointed and annoyed. When she is checking again, an older man came and started to assist her. I saw her explain what she was doing then look at me and roll her eyes. The man who seemed to be the manager or lead that day did not apologize for her behavior not did she. The other two Caucasian women that assisted me were great. However when employees are rude to customers it affects the reputation of the whole team and my overall experience. I walked in and the location smelled fresh and clean. The first team member I encountered was friendly and helpful. He answered my questions and helped me with my order. The second team member encounter er was lacking customer service skills. I noticed she was preparing a sandwich so I asked if I could have hot peppers added to it and she replied"It's not your food". What a course response. So I waited until another team member asked if I had the Mediterranean sandwich. I replied yesterday and asked for hot peppers and tomato. She handed me my sandwich and went in about her business. Since it was two fee Tuesday I ordered two sandwiches which she failed to notice. She finally asked if I had another sandwich I replied yes and she asked if I was ok with the horseradish aioli, I said yes. When I opened my sandwich it was drowning in aioli which overpowered the flavor of the roast beef. Ask for light aioli or on the side to ensure it's not over done. I saved the Mediterranean sandwich for later in the day so it's not part of this review. I was in the neighborhood today, so I decided to come in here because I was seething with hunger. I was definitely feeling for some healthy food, so I went for the regular 6 inch tuna sandwich. For the toppings, I picked provalone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard, and red peppers. They toasted the sandwich as well. Together with a small drink, it came to just under $9.00. I've tried out some of their other locations, and I have always enjoyed their sandwiches much better than some of those other chain sandwich stores in the DMV. This time was no different. The tuna tasted fresh, and I had no problem finishing off the entire sandwich. This location is staffed well, and the two people who helped me were on the ball today. Use the app to order and the food wont disappoint. The few times I have went inside the staff is rude and I feel like I am burdening them by ordering which is not right. It houses some of my favorite memories and it truly a place that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Every time I walk into this Potbelly (around 11:40 every other day) I am greeted with a smell that takes all of my anxiety away. The food is always delicious and the staff is personable and kind. The staff know me and my friends by our names and orders and they always make my Italian sandwich to perfection. My family associates Potbelly with me, and me with Potbelly. There are two staff in particular who have stood out to me at this Potbelly location. They are respectful and kind, and know who I am. They know my hopes, dreams, my career path, and my sandwich toppings. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that they took away the Birthday Cake cookie. However, this is not a reflection of the location as much as it is of the company. This Potbelly is like heaven. I wrote college essays about this location. I have prioritized certain college locations due to proximity to Potbelly, although I can only dream that the atmosphere there is just as perfect as it is on King Street in Alexandria. On the last day of school, I plan on giving every employee of this Potbelly a thank you note, for their impact on my life. I hope they sign my yearbook. I came here the other day and was pleasantly Surprised that they offer breakfast! When I walked in I was greeted friendly by several employees working in the line. The place was kind of empty so I didn't expect much but I ordered the ham, Swiss and mushroom egg wrap because it sounded good. Once ordered LUIS asked me what kind of toppings I'd like and I wasn't sure so I had him pick whatever goes good with and trusted his recommendation. Ordered five sandwiches for takeout. Paid an extra fee for the takeout service through Yelp which was a little annoying.... but it was easier so I was ultimately okay with it. Sandwiches were all correctly made. Food was good. Not great, but it was good. Arrived and the lady at the counter really didn't have time to serve customers. She too was busy, even though there weren't any other customers in the place. She said "it's all here." and thrust a bag in my hand. The five bags of chips were at the BOTTOM of the bag with the 20oz sodas on TOP of them and the sandwiches on top of that. There were no napkins or utensils (for Mac salad).
