I've eaten at plenty of delis over the years, but Eddie's Little Shop completely surprised me with flavors I've genuinely never tasted before. The sandwiches here are incredibly unique, creative combinations that just explode with flavor in ways I wasn't expecting. What really stood out were the huge, fresh chunks of real mozzarella, paired with their homemade-style dressings, sauces, and condiments. It's easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions are generous, the bread is spot-on. I'll definitely be back before my trip ends. Saturday, midafternoon, I stop by for an Eddie Mootz ($17) (salami, ham, sopressata, mozzarella, on seeded italian). I'm handed this brown paper bag that weighs, I dunno, 3 lbs? I have to carry this back with me to the Metro. Twice along the way, I have to stop and catch my breath. I get home, my kitchen counter sags a bit where I put the bag down. Cripes, Eddie's. And the sandwich itself? 2 meals, easily. Thick thick piles of meat and a shovel-full of mozzarella. Very chewy bread. I work up a sweat just eating this, there's so much labor involved. I ordered online from the Metro, around the DCA stop, and got a notification it was ready before I got to the King Street stop. Fast turnaround. Eddie's is now on my list of places to make a point of going to for sandwiches in the DMV. Really good sandwich, and a lot of it.

Great little sandwich shop!…read more It's very popular at noontime. I took a break from my 4 hour long painting class upstairs in the Torpedo Factory to snag a bite. My timing was good, because I arrived right before a work group of maybe 10 people or so came into place their orders. In addition to a substantive sandwich menu, which includes both hot and cold sandwiches, there's plenty of beverage (including wine) and snack selections. Wearing an oil paint-smudged apron (FYI: the reality is that you're still going to get paint on your clothes even wearing an apron), I aptly ordered the Torpedo Artist. The Torpedo Artist is a hot Panini-like sandwich. You can select your type of meat, cheese and toppings. By default it includes lettuce, sweet peppers and deli oil. My sandwich was well-crafted with plenty of turkey and Swiss cheese. However, I didn't especially like this sandwich. I wish I had asked them to hold the deli oil because it was overly pungent with oregano. All I could taste in my sandwich was oregano. But older and wiser now, I know in the future that if I have them hold the deli oil, I'll end up with a great and tasty sandwich.

I'll ask for extra peanut butter and jelly so it's to my liking. I couldn't tell if there was honey on it, it could have been. The BLT was fantastic. I loved that it was not oiled high with all the ingredients. A simple sandwich. It fit the bill and didn't over fill me. A true classic. The multi grain bread was the best! I need to find out where that is from. It was that good. I hope I'm able to try the tuna fish and the egg salad sandwiches sometime they look delish! The staff were quiet, but got the job done. There is a small bar like area to eat in, and outdoor tables in a covered area to enjoy your sandwich.

Anyhoo, met some friends for drinks here and it was fantastic. The People's Drug has been reimagined, with a general store, lunch counter style but a decidedly modern take on its offerings. Serving chef-driven gourmet sandwiches, locally-sourced bowls, and crafted cocktails, it's the perfect place for all manner of social indulgences. I spent $100 on drinks. I had a Negroni Incognito w/Italian Dill and a couple Old Fashioneds. We didn't order any food (although it looked good going by). Will definitely try some the next time. Limited street parking so I parked in the lot next door. Warning: the joint is kinda smallish with limited seating so beware depending on when you go! Good stuff.

My go-to of a toasted sesame bagel was just perfect, along with the garlic-herb cream cheese. My friend had a gleneagle bagel with candied salmon cream cheese and enjoyed it -- but it was stuffed and overflowing and a little hard to eat. This place is just so charmingly decorated, with friendly people, and nice portions of good deli food. It was also quite crowded (and we went early). However, the young male staff is rather rude and indifferent. First, off there is a Wi-Fi available "Caphe Guest" (see photo). I asked one staffer what the password was, because Caphe is in one of those sections of Old Town where wireless access, like Verizon, is notoriously poor. The guy gave me some garbled answer and walked away. Alrighty, so I asked another staffer and he said he didn't know what the password was and walked away. That leads up to my order of chicken pho. I asked for no cilantro and that same waiter repeated my request for no cilantro. But when the pho was brought to my table, the green in the pho looked suspiciously like cilantro. I asked the waiter about it. He looked at the pho and said it was not cilantro. I took a sip and quickly determined there was cilantro in the pho. When I tried to get my server's attention, as he was standing in back of the counter, he saw me and haughtily turned away. So, I took the pho up to counter and asked that my order be remade. To Caphe's credit, Caphe did correctly remake my order.. But the pho broth was brown and had an odd canned flavor. It just wasn't very good.

I could smell them before they passed them out the window. The pizza, itself, was so good. I'm not a huge pizza person but having lived in NYC and Jersey, I know good pizza. This was it! The sauce was soooo good and so fresh-tasting. It didn't have a sweetness to it, but if you like good tomato sauce (and occasional small tomato chunks), you'll like this. I'd definitely return!

The chicken texture was off and even though it was covered in sauce there was no crispyness to the chicken. I ended up just eating the noodles and got rid of the chicken. We had a very shocking recent experience with this guy (which you can view in the video). I went there with a friend, we ordered just a few items, and it took them over 30 min to bring our escargot and then another 50 minutes just to bring out our entrees. Having spent over an hour waiting for our food at this point, we decided to complain to the waiter, who was quite rude himself and seemed to have a major attitude problem. When we asked to speak to the manager, he rolled his eyes at us and brought over someone who called himself "Seb". Seb came over with a perma-scowl, his arms crossed, and then proceeded to curse and spew expletives at us before we could even explain the situation. His behavior really took us aback and shocked us at first as we had never been talked to like this at any food establishment, let alone at a supposedly classy place like Old Town Alexandria. When we let him know that his behavior was absolutely unacceptable, he responded with "I don't give a shit" and a nice "fuck you" as we left the restaurant. Please do not support an establishment run by such a hateful and despicable Frenchman who acts and thinks he's better than everyone else, especially his own customers. Just look at the other 1-star reviews on this site and what they have to say about him. Then look at the responses he gives back to them. It's beyond wild that someone like him is still in business.
