Two street people cut the line and went straight to the cashiers during lunchtime rush. The cashiers laughed it up with them while ignoring the rest of the customers. One person said "excuse me" as the street person cut them off, to which they replied with "F*ck You". The cashiers did nothing except ignore it. Aside from the people making sandwiches, the rest of the staff were just rude and seemed to have a problem with people who were a different color than they were. My mom and I stopped here to eat lunch for our adventure on the CTA today. It was right by the station we wanted to be by, so it was very convenient. The food was so good like always at Potbelly. Horrible. Tried to place an order using their app. It was for 12 sandwiches, waters and chips for the movers who moved me into my new office. The app was broken. I tried to call this store three times to place a phone order and the manager hung up on me each time. Oh. I was treated very rudely by a staff member. I only wanted a bag of chips and a fountain soda. The cups were right by the cash register, just like they are at many restaurants where you grab your own. The man said "don't do that," grabbed the cup from my hand, threw it in the trash, and asked if I was getting a sandwich. I said I just wanted a soda and chips, and he gave me a new cup. Came here with my partner after a Sporting event on 3/15/24 around 10:30pm (30 minutes before closing time). Some other reviews of this place have solidified my feelings exactly about a particular employee working the register. Straight up - one of the sassiest and most unprofessional people I've encountered in a while. We asked for the Mediterranean sandwich (my partner and I would split) and the entire time he was very unfriendly and acted like everything was an exhaustive task. When he was finishing up oír sándwich, we asked if it had dairy (because we were genuinely curious so that we could take the lactaid pills that we have since we are both lactose intolerant). The employee immediately says "why didn't you say anything earlier? You're supposed to tell me this when you order". Literally what? So rude! I responded saying "we were literally just curious - nothing else". It seems a lot of others have encountered this employee and I genuinely hope the best for this guy, but it's unfortunate my very first experience at Potbelly had to be with this employee. Separately though - we thought the sandwich was actually pretty decent and I would return to try another sandwich, but certainly from a different location. read more

Came to potbelly for lunch on the way to seeing "The bean" and let me tell you it's an adventure when you have a picky eater along with you. So we get in line which at this time on an Monday wast busy yet and this is my first time & the worker was looking very let's just say he was disturbed bye my presence which was a hint to me I'm not here to work man but he took out order which we ordered a melt no mush or meatballs on flatbread like an pizza but in sando form an meatball sub, wreck and an steakhouse all the food tasted ok to much horseradish sauce on the steakhouse & to much bread and a lil dry . Over all I would not go back cause it's not worth the parking headache but if I saw another in a park friendly area I might go. I was really excited to try this sandwich shop. They were all over the city with people always exiting whenever I passed by. The sandwich wasn't very impressive. I ordered the Pick Two (Skinny sandwich and soup). Specifically the Turkey & Swiss with tomato, lettuce and mayo. When taking a bite it was all toasted bread with lettuce and mayo. I wasn't expecting it to be toasted either but as a newbie to this joint, I rolled with it. Next few bites, same thing. I opened it up to see 1 tiny slice of turkey on it. Maybe that's how the skinny comes? The turkey didn't have any flavor so I ended up wasting the sandwich. Luckily I ordered a side of the chicken pot pie as my soup. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. This sandwich chain is similar to Panera Bread or Subway but I'd rank it #3 against them. Very cute seating area inside. Was not expecting it to look that unique but it did. I used to order a couple times a month from the Yorktown, Lombard, IL location. After a couple of years, the Avocado Turky sandwich- my regular order - started coming (always had delivered) with mistakes or just less avocado, or other toppings. Just not as good, so eventually I stopped ordering. A couple months ago I gave it another chance but it was full of mistakes and I ended up calling and complaining. I probably received a refund, don't remember. But, being a gluten for punishment, last night I told myself that this time it would be good. The delivery was fast and the guy was friendly. But the good part ended there. Instead of what I had specifically ordered for last night, the printout list was from past orders, but even the items on the print out were not on the sandwich. The two, half sandwiches (separate items) were both missing cheese, mayo, aioli sauce, pickles and any flavor. Just a plain turkey sandwich with very minimal avocado. The soup was missing the pot pie topping, even though I ordered it with extra topping. I am done with Potbelly. Way too expensive for such poor quality food and poor attention to the order. read more

The last time we went Kayla was super helpful as we had some promo coupons and were not sure how to redeem (read fine print on if they work online or in store). You know, I remember stopping in at this Potbelly Sandwich Shop as a tourist before moving to the city, only to leave because it was congested with customers. That visit made me hesitant of visiting every-time I toured Chicago as a visitor, even later once I moved to the city then started taking classes at City Colleges of Chicago - Harold Washington College down the street. Never made it an option in-between my college classes because ain't nobody got time for that, especially with limited time. Getting off the subject briefly, if I would have known about the relief of ordering online versus in-store ordering which I discovered at the Ford City Mall - Potbelly Sandwich Shop, I probably would have had successful visits years ago as I did at that location recently. Furthermore, as I got off CTA State/Lake to transfer, I wanted to get a quick-bite in the Loop before heading back out on the train. And if it weren't for me taking a liking to the Ford City Mall location, I probably would not have considered this place, but glad that I visited because I beat the rush hour, thankfully. The layout inside of this location is snug, yet still fitting to service customers in the downtown area. The interior has that typical Potbelly Sandwich Shop old-fashioned feel to it and consisting of an antique Oakland cast iron stove by Wehrle Co present which I tend to take note of always. The workers here were respectful and on the ball! Some doing different tasks within a small area. Even though I was tired from my work shift, I enjoyed the respectable encounter and it left me highly interested in returning again around the same time, which was prior to the start of lunch hours. And lastly, this location sits diagonal from the Chicago Theatre, and in one of the heavily toured areas in the city, so dining in you will get the pleasure of people watching as well as that view of the iconic Chicago Theatre nearby.
