I submitted a concerned profanity-free complaint to the club-provided customer service emails about repeated, unannounced changes to membership perks. The CEO personally responded at 9:37 p.m. EST, to address my writing and delivery and to emphasize his personal investment in the club over my concerns. Before all promised updates "coming this week" were provided, he terminated my membership effective immediately, and I was informed I would no longer have access to private or guest events. My mom and I attended the doula mingle hosted by frontline doulas (alongside so many amazing partner organizations), and this was our first time stepping into the gathering spot. from the moment we walked in, the energy was magnetic, great music, gorgeous aesthetics, and a vibe that just eased you right in. We headed downstairs for the event and kicked things off with appetizers. that hummus with pita and fresh veggies? dangerous. smooth, flavorful, and beyond addictive. I had three plates and would've gone back for more if i didn't need to save room. I thought, "okay, this is a solid start"... but you know how these things go, sometimes the appetizers are the peak. Not here! Then... the entrées came out, and I knew I was in the right place. We enjoyed: fresh, crisp salad juicy fried chicken creamy mashed potatoes steamed broccoli a vegan mushroom pasta so good it had me singing and humming. The standout: tender, perfectly cooked salmon topped with pickled veggies -- an unexpected treat that took the flavor to a whole new level. after one bite, Iinstantly knew this is how i'll be cooking my salmon from now on. i'm talking rich, savory, soulful perfection. The staff? wonderful. attentive, kind, and fully in tune with the energy of the event. the kind of service that makes you feel cared for without hovering. Joined my sister, who is a member at The Gathering Spot, to visit the space for the first time. I have driven past many times and even explored applying to be a member once. I ultimately decided to not join because I work better at home, but I was very impressed by the space. They have a free valet, restaurant (with free food for members daily) with two bars, a large event space, a cool lounge, over a dozen conference/phone/meeting rooms and a recreation space. I went on a random Monday and it was still pretty busy but quiet and clean. I was impressed by the politeness and professionalism of the staff. The menu had more variety than I expected, and the food was solid. If I were looking for a coworking space where I could network then I'd seriously consider it. read more

TGS is a gorgeous space, with lots of natural light. I came as a guest of a member for a remote working day. They also serve breakfast and lunch/dinner. Work spaces: The wifi is strong; I was able to take calls without issues. Members can rent rooms for up to 2 hours/day, so I spent some time in a room. There was a screen and a white board. Downstairs is better suited for dining in or meetings, since it's louder with music playing. Upstairs is quiet and there are a few different seating areas. It's set up like a co-working space in that there are rooms, a few phone booths, and other commons areas. But I don't believe they have hot desks and no comfortable office chairs. Food: I ordered lunch and sat at the bar. There lots of tables as well or you can order to-go if you're upstairs. Prices are on par with other places in walking distance. I got a Caesar salad and birria egg rolls. The salad was standard, light on the croutons. But the eggs rolls were really good! Meat was tender and the sauce drizzled on top paired nicely. There's also a full bar that looks well curated. Parking: $20 valet if you're a guest. I parked on the street though because most valet on Adams just parks your car on the street anyways. Other spaces: Bathrooms are super clean. There's a filtered water station upstairs. I believe there's a basement space as well, but I didn't get a tour so not sure. Overall, it seems like a great place for collaborating and networking, especially with other black professionals. I'm really picky with my work station though so it's not an ideal working space for me to work for a full day, but that tracks since it's a social club not a co-working space first. read more

There is street parking. I was able to find something pretty quickly, but it just depends. I went to a private event for my friend's birthday and they had about 100 or so people here. The bartenders are doing their thing working quickly and they allow you to have a DJ. There's a lot of seating area and they had a chef to cooking food. It's a very nice spot for events or networking. I highly recommend. The ceilings are very high so you don't feel closed in. read more

My brother in law invited us to be his guest. There's either valet or street parking. We were able to find nearby parking. When we are inside, we didn't realize we needed to be specific to who invited us and where we are going. My brother in law eventually escorted us to the table for dinner. Love the vibe and space. The service was a little slow. Eventually he arrived with water and a menu. He lacked the attention and protocol but it might be how it's structured. The food and beverage was very very delicious. I am not a member but I do have a friend who is and brought me in as a guest for their Friday after work hour event. The music was soooo good. The space is truly breathtaking. They have games such as Jenga, etc. to keep everyone entertained. My friend was letting me know that downstairs has an event space. There is an upstairs area where there's a working space to work and network if there's people there. That was pretty cool to find out. The main floor was the dining area and private suites for people to host meetings or a private event and then they have the bar. Just vibrant. My server was super kind and accommodating. He allowed us to move our seats. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles was a waffle but the chicken was really great seasoning. My friend ordered the salmon bowl which she bragged about and the server also said was a best seller. The price was a good price. The drinks are super huge and tasty. If you're a member, parking is free. They also serve breakfast for free in certain hours. However if you are not a member, I did find parking. It did take me a loop around the block. So parking is not the greatest. But you can get lucky and it is metered parking as well. Or you can valet for $20 as a nonmember. I would definitely join because of the atmosphere BUT I live alllll the way in the valley. But if they ever open up a valley space, hint hint wink lol I would definitely join. I ordered a kale Caesar salad as well, but they were out of croutons, so it felt a bit naked:( It was fresh, and the dressing was not overpowering. A bonus... the stems were cut perfectly. In an attempt to achieve stomach capacity and fulfill my hungry eyes, I ordered the chicken gumbo. It had a lot of flavor but was a bit salty. Unfortunately, they were out of rice, so I could not dilute the strength of the seasoning. I did, however, take it home and added a little water. It was good, but I wish it had more chicken in it. The service was friendly, helpful, and personable. Every time I visit, there is always a smiling face and someone to help. The ambiance is perfect for getting out, having a nice meal with friends or alone. Parking is $20 valet if you are not a member or street parking is available. I suggest if you come to an event where you will be here for a while, lyft or Uber. There is music always playing in the background, and the seating area is spacious. I came to The Gathering Spot as a guest for the Black Therapist Meet and Greet, and now I'm considering becoming a member. It's a beautiful space, with two different bar areas. Upstairs is a co-working space with private rooms for individual use as well as conference rooms for groups. On the basement level, there is a space for private events. There is daily breakfast available for member as well. Best part is that the venue was brimming with Black professionals interested in building sustainable community. I've been a member of TGS for about 8months so it's about time I update my review. While I enjoy the idea of what a social club is suppose to be, TGS has some pain points that I must address. Parking/valet- parking in the neighborhood is scarce, and when there's an event or typical Friday mid morning, valet will most likely be at capacity. The restaurant/bar is delicious, but food/beverage isn't always available if the restaurant is closed due to an event or if a 3rd party vendor is renting it. I came by on a Saturday early afternoon to have brunch and get work done, however it was a ghost town and the restaurant closed. There was no coffee, tea, or water available. Unacceptable. There should always be coffee and hot/cold water offered at minimum, in the upstairs coworking area. Lastly, the events in LA aren't as attractive compared to DC and ATL. They're just not. read more

I went to The Gathering Spot at the invitation of good friends who are members. I had never been yet had passed the location countless times. I do not particularly love the gentrification happening in Los Angeles neighborhoods like West Adams but my partners loves the new food digs. But this place The Gathering Spot is refreshingly well designed, clean, quiet, professional and perfectly conducive for working (or meeting, or gathering). Upstairs rooms are plentiful but there are places to post up casually without reservations. Food is great, service is great, space is great downstairs in the restaurant. First time here. Came for a Women's New Year's Brunch event at their restaurant and bar Lena and Duke's. It's an open space when you walk in and the bar is to your immediate right. The co-working space is upstairs by elevator. Event space is downstairs. It is a members-only social club in the historic West Adams area of Los Angeles. Adjacent to Culver City. The wait staff were friendly. My server was Owen and Greg who were really nice. They have a hostess that seats folks for dinning after you check in at reception with your member number. They have guest and member free wifi as well. Apart from the social events they have featuring speakers, and different topics of interest from entertainment to civic engagement they also have podcast space available to members to use. Parking is valet $20, that part sucks. Not sure if it's free parking if you are a member to not as I was invited as a guest. Looks like street parking if you are lucky and maybe some off side residential streets but may need a permit to park their. Probably better to Uber here and save the $20. read more

Beautiful location in the neighborhood fantastic staff great for co-op working we came by on Friday evening to work & attend a book signing by 5 pm the temperature outside dropped to the 70's and inside the building it was freezing the air conditioner was on program to 70 you cold feel the cold air blowing on you while trying to cover for shelter the monitor stated 70 it was freezing like the North Pole as you looked around at the event everyone had a jacket on uncomfortable we complaint it was very cold to Management but of course who cares if you freeze to death no portal for a freezing commercial building. The bottom bathrooms were fairly clean down stairs. The building is not being maintenance well its obvious especially for a social setting in addition to hosting social events we found the maintenance of the building poor super dirty the window frames floor corners of the building elevator doors furniture just dirty & the upstairs appears to not have any Maintenance whatsoever scary, The restroom were filthy unclean toilets gross it looked like a homeless shelter definitely lacking Management just disgusting in the women's restroom l got sick after going in there the smell was gross including the hallways the workspace carpets were dirty food on the floor dirty stains looks as if the building has not been cleaned since it has opened the building is definitely not maintained for a community workspace it appears not to be maintain more like a homeless shelter for the neighborhood it's the worst I have every seen. read more

Reason being is because I had questions prior to me joining that I wanted answered by a live person rather than reading reviews of different people. I selected a time that was conducive for me for the interview. I chose 5pm and Ill be damn if homechick Jerica Moody didn't call me on the MF dot at 5:01pm for my interview. So during the interview I explained what I was looking for which is a quiet work space and an environment where I can commune with like minded individuals. She said, "Say less. This is what we do.." and she went down the gamut of all of the services The Gathering Spot offers. From free breakfast M-F to lunch, dinner and exclusive events along with work spaces, office spaces and conference rooms, access to different clubs in the city and nation wide along with the option to host your own event there for a very cost affordable price. She went on and on and my mouth hit the floor. So I told her I was sold. I told her this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. She then stated if I joined she would wave the first month free ($200 value) and I would only pay the registration fee ($300 value) No problem. I signed up. Now the next day I figured, lemme go check this place out since I am paying right? I pulled up. Valet dude was very nice. Valet is free for members. I walked in and grabbed a seat. Music is pumping Neo Soul and the vibe is nice. I went to the bar and grabbed a plate. I grabbed me some eggs, turkey bacon, potatoes and some of the most buttery cheesy grits this side of the Mississippi. I was asked by a waiter if I wanted anything else to drink. I declined and drank water. He served me several glasses of water with a very nice smile and stated, "If there is anything you need please let me know and it will my pleasure to serve you." Very nice, professional and handsome young man. I ate. The food was so damn good. I swear yall, they have somebody's Bigmamma chained in the back near a stove cooking them damn grits because they were just that damn good and creamy. So good I had to complain to the handsome young man that served me that the grits was ruining my diet and causing me to feel guilty. He laughed and stated, "Well we have five star chefs that are dedicated to providing only the best for our members." We both laughed. I informed Mr. Waiter Sir that I needed a quiet place to work. He showed me where the elevator was and I went to the second level to the shared workspace area. When I went upstairs there was classical calming music playing. I could not hear the upbeat neo soul music that was playing on the 1st floor. I sat down at a google desk and plugged in my devices and started working. There were several young professionals also at work. If someone needed to take a phone/zoom call he/she could go into a phone room that was sound proof to speak in privacy in order to not disturb the others working. The place is huge. Many size conference rooms and offices available for use. I left around noon and returned around 6pm for dinner. I did not know there was a private event being held at this same time (Big Sister Little Sister Bday Party) so the kitchen and 2nd floor bar was closed. I met with a young handsome gentleman at the front desk who informed me that even though there is a private event on the second floor the shared work space (3rd floor) is still available AND there is an event tonight for members that will start at 7pm on the 1st floor. This information was given to me (along with a full tour of the facility and full disclosure of the amenities and one on one training on how to work The Gathering Spot Mobile App) by a very nice, professional and handsome gentleman who I cannot remember his name but his name tag did identify him as The Lead Concierge dude. Not only did he go ABOVE and BEYOND his duties to make me feel welcomed, safe and valued, he thanked me for the line of work that I am in (child protector and advocate) and served me a light snack and wine while I worked. He informed me that there was a powerlecture tonight with a famous TV producer that I might be interested in joining. Producer and Writer of HBO Series Insecure, Girlfriends TV Series and a plethora of other tv shows and movies Prentice Penny was giving a powerlecture. I attended. Very Informative!!!!! He spoke about a plethora of topics such as the writer's strike and racism in Hollywood towards Black actors and filmmakers. Prior to the lecture I went to the bar in the basement and asked the bartender about their wine selection. He suggested I try the house Cabernet Sauvignon. Absolutely AMAZING!!! And this is coming from a wine snob with a VERY refined palate. I liked it so much that I ordered a second glass and gifted a glass to a new friend that I just mrt.
