I purchased a black, 9-frame photo wall display for $170 online. When it arrived, I was confused, as the exterior box was from Umbra. I wasn't expecting anything from this company. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Pottery Barn advising that my order had been delivered. The box has no mention of PB. I queried the product on Umbra's website and found that, not only is Umbra the manufacturer, but PB is marking up the product by $50 and failing to disclose that it is manufactured and shipped directly by this company, which also sells this product through mas retailer Walmart for $117 with free shipping. When I phoned Pottery Barn to complain and request an adjustment for bait and switch, I was advised that I may be able to return the product to a local store (a 30-minute drive each way), could return it via UPS at my expense, or could accept a $30 "courtesy credit." With a house primarily furnished in Pottery Barn wares, Im disgusted in how this was handled and with the lack of disclosure in product advertising. I expect more from a company that prides itself on offering unique high end merchandise. Do your research...check Walmart, Target and other discount stores before considering Pottery Barn. The outlet is more of an experience than a transaction. Part of the allure is the approach and the design choices. I always walk out inspired and sometimes feeling really impecunious because the prices are through the roof for certain pieces . There is a great selection for tables, bed frames, lamps, rugs, dining ware - they have it all! Thursdays are usually when the new deliveries come in so time out your visit. Pottery Barn is the vanilla ice cream of home decor. The style is just fine on it's own - a plethora of white, off-white, cream, ecru, tan and cappuccino colored fabrics and accessories - that are beautiful on their own. Depending on your personal style and taste, enhanced when "topped" with pops of color. This year they are definitely leaning towards the creams, which had been replaced by shades of gray for the last 5 or so years. It's almost Autumn, so lots of Fall themed home decor. Pamba grass stems to give a retro boho look. Textured pumpkins and acorns. Stems of leaves and grasses. They have a furniture department and you can order custom fabrics. A decent selection of bedding in cotton, bamboo or linen. I appreciate the natural materials as anything else makes me sweat. And bathroom accessories, pillows, glassware and home decor. Searching for a bathtub caddy is what brought me here today. I wandered around the store for quite sometime until assistance was offered even though I was one of just a few people in the store. I have been here many times, usually for a specific item and not to decorate an entire room or buy large pieces of furniture. My style is more clean lines and I prefer to curate a room so it represents me and not a store's brand. There is a small parking lot behind the store for free parking. read more

As a long time customer of Pottery Barn I must say they have definitely gone down hill in quality and customer service! I purchased a rocker-power recliner 7 months ago and although it was supposedly a performance fabric it is now pilling all over and arms are dented due to cheap foam material! Customer service told me this is normal wear and tear, sorry! How can you pay top dollar at was a once quality store to be told sorry it's normal after 7 months to look like a used chair from Goodwill?? Totally unacceptable I will close my account and never purchase from Pottery Barn again! read more

Pottery Barn is on my shit list and let me tell you why it should be on yours too. I'm also pissed that I feel compelled to complain about freaking Pottery Barn on Yelp, after not Yelping in 27473 years. But here we are. This is a 2+ month long story and the worst part is I was trying to resolve this behind the scenes, and they offered me a 10% discount. Insulting. I purchased an Hermes scarf. I know. Unnecessary extravagance. I spent A LOT of time searching for an acrylic frame to display it and I was really thrilled to find one at PB. Outrageously expensive? Absolutely. But I figured it would be fine because one, I couldn't find a suitable alternative and two, it's PB and therefore must be trustworthy. Wrong. I ordered back in November. I was initially told it would be delivered in the beginning of December. They gave me a date range. Amazing. It did not arrive. Because it was the holidays and everyone was shopping, and I knew the supply chain situation was/is bonkers, and it was winter, and shipping companies were trying their best, I was patient. The delivery date kept changing every few days. I called customer service. They told me it would be delivered soon and the product is in their warehouse. Terrific. Spoiler alert: they lied. They couldn't provide me a tracking number with a specific courier. Weird, but okay. It's January now. Where tf is this frame? I call customer service again and explain the insanity. She apologizes and tells me the reason why the delivery date keeps changing is because they DON'T actually have the frame, so they don't know when they will get it nor when I will get it. Excuse me? I was pissed. I then asked, "Why did you take my money if you don't have it in stock and don't know when you'll get it?" Customer service rep: I don't know. I don't know?! I told them to cancel my order and thought that was the end of this stupid saga. No it was not. Because I was angry, I sent a scathing email because I wanted a paper trail and they should fix this problem. They clearly have the resources to prevent this from happening again and I would think they care about their reputation. Over the next couple weeks, they completely ignored my requestS to cancel the order and insisted on delivering it. I ask for compensation and they said to ask when it is delivered. Fine. Of course when it finally arrived in late January, the box was torn and it was clearly tossed at my front door. Did I tell you this frame is over $200? I email them and again ask for compensation. The whole experience was a dumpster fire. They offer me 10%. I don't know what kind of monstrous conglomerate Laura Alber is running, but the way y'all handle problems probably speaks volumes on how you run this company. You ought to be embarrassed, and I cannot and will not recommend Pottery Barn/Williams Sonoma to anyone. Maybe my enemy. read more

I was in there today , they say they were short of staff this Saturday after I waited upstairs 25 min . to purchase , had to go downstairs to purchase , asked the register lady where I can find the light colored frame that had on display , she pointed over to the frames in the next room , said that it was just wood and lighting caused it to be different, I assured her that wasn't there , she then insisted it was , I knew it wasn't but went to go get it to prove that it wasn't , I was correct it was completely different , she never engaged or apologized and wouldn't help me , I was very complacent, not confrontational at all , after that i complained to another employee and really , he gave me a half hearted apology, I have didn't thousands of follies there but there service has gone down hill and it's consistently bad ! I bought a couch less than 3 years ago from Pottery Barn. The cost of the couch with delivery was $1,300, and I had it upholstered in Sierra twill red by Pottery Barn. I live alone in an apartment and the couch doesn't get much use. It's been sitting in indirect sunlight since I've had it. Much to my horror, I went to move my living room around a few weeks ago, and the entire back of the couch has changed to light pink color. This bizarre bleaching is also happening on the tops of all of the cushions. When I contacted customer support, they refused to help me with the item unless I paid a sizable fee because the couch was more than a year old. This fabric is very poor quality and I expected better from Pottery Barn...a business that prides itself on quality. I won't be buying furniture from Pottery Barn ever again. read more

I was also not pleased that once I made a selection and brought it to the register not a sole was to be found. For the pricepoint of their products: one would think customer service would be good if not great. Decent would be a far stretch, unfortunately. What started out as a positive experience turned ugly quickly. We were transparent with our recent closing and our need for a dining and master bedroom solution asap. Long story short despite knowing we had every commitment crossed off with making a big purchase they couldn't resist misinforming and using car salesmen tactics. I'm not angry about the misinformation as I imagine the store will act and pivot differently than their central customer service but to keep it short customer service was shocked to hear our story. What is really is hurtful and will ensure after this order we will never spend a dollar again at Pottery Barn is the deceitful lies about communicating with me over email to lock in an order. My girlfriend had no reason to doubt it. Needless to say they double ordered our items. Our Pottery Barn credit card got locked and over the limit. Despite all of that the when I requested the manager to call me, I never received that call. The lack of empathy and due diligence with any professionalsim to see something right from start to finish is alarming. The amount of time vested with customer service and having to figure out all of this is ridiculous. She was rude and unfriendly and made the whole thing seem like a huge inconvenience to her. First of all, she questioned if we had used the sheets we were returning (of course not - and something tells me if we had looked a little different, she would not have asked that question). Then, when I asked if she would help us cancel a backordered item, she answered "You can do that yourself." Finally, after finishing the 20 min return she turned around and simply said "Ok." No smile. No have a nice day. No thank you for your business. No sorry for taking so long and being incredibly rude the whole time. Beautiful stuff and nice people work the floor... but they don't really stock very much. We purchased 3 items back in May for over 5k. They told us we would have it delivered between July 11th and 15th. It is now the 30th and we still don't have anything. Worse, they don't call with updates. We have to call them for updates. There is a website where you can log in with your order number but there is very little information available about shipping. Somewhere along the line they thought people would wait a long time for nice furniture and not get frustrated with long delays and poor communication. They are sorely wrong. This location has a small upstairs section and there is plenty of merchandise to look at. The people here were nice and not too pushy. They also did not act super snobby like some people that work at nicer stores can be. It is in a great part of town with tons of other stores near it. I liked being able to compare things at each store before making a purchase. I don't come to this part of town often, but I do plan on returning. read more

Conveniently located directly across the street from Restoration Hardware (don't let the name fool you it to is mostly a furniture store now) for comparison shopping. Pottery Barn tends towards modern, comfortable looking furniture...why am I saying this? Pottery Barn's are all over and they all have the same kind of look and have for years mostly it seems it is just the colors that change. That can be a good thing though, I really like their style and the quality is very good. They have really nice looking things, not just furniture but other things for the home including dishes and decorative pieces. This branch is on two floors and looks and feels nice, The employees are always nice even if I am just buying a small sale piece. In summery it is a nice store full of things I would be happy to live with day to day. read more

Giant corporate houseware stores are supposed to make you get sick to your stomach and renounce capitalism, but at least they're also supposed to be models of Mussolinian proto-fascist efficiency, right? Not so much in Pottery Barn's case. Its staff's inability or unwillingness to know where anything was would have bordered on comical if it weren't matched by a general rudeness on the part of several staff members. Throw in the store's use of plastic artichokes to ridiculous effect in accenting everything from table settings to giant flower vases, and you've got yourself one annoying shopping experience. This review is an attempt to assuage my dissatisfaction with Pottery Barn, and to let every "customer service" agent know that I have not experienced the service that Pottery Barn perhaps imagines itself to be providing. On January 24, 2014, I ordered a PB Basic Performance Tweed Sofa. The scheduled delivery date was estimated to be April 1, 2014, to my weekend cabin in Redmond, Oregon. I was delighted to learn that the sofa arrived in the Portland warehouse early and that I would be contacted to schedule a delivery. I returned the call twice from the delivery company, MDX, I believe is what they call themselves. I was promised calls back, but it took over a week to connect and schedule the delivery for Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Meanwhile, I ordered a U Haul truck so that I could take my old couch back to Portland to put in a storage unit. The day before delivery, after the time was confirmed by MDX (they were to have been here between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm), my husband and I picked up the U Haul, loaded the very heavy old couch into the U Haul, and prepared for delivery of the new Pottery Barn sofa this morning. At 9:30 am I received a call saying that since I was the first delivery on the route, they waited to put the sofa on the truck last, and found that there was no room to load the truck. I was asked to reschedule the delivery to next Wednesday. I was not planning to be in Redmond next Wednesday, April 2. I live in Portland 175 miles away. In order to accommodate this schedule, I would have to unload the old couch and return to the living room, return the U Haul truck and pay whatever fee they would charge me for having picked up the truck and kept it for a few hours, and made plans to drive the 175 miles back to Redmond from Portland next week, which I had not planned to do. I was very angry and upset, so I called the Northwest Portland Pottery Barn store and asked them to assist me in solving this problem. The person who spoke with me there said, "there is nothing I can do. Call the customer service number." I bought a $2,000 couch from the store in Portland, and there is nothing they can do. My anger and frustration is mounting. I call the customer service number. I tell my story to a very sympathetic customer service agent, and she assures me that they want to continue receiving my business, as I am a good PB customer over the years, and they do not want me to return the couch. She agreed to credit my account with 20% of the price, and I am now feeling better. Then, Sharon says that she is going to call the delivery service, make sure they understand the problem, and assure her that my couch will be delivered next Wednesday, April 2. She put me on hold so that I could talk directly to the delivery service after she completed her conversation with them. We get disconnected while I am on hold. I thought, of course, she will call me back. She did not. So, I try to call her back and I cannot find her again, nor do any of the other CA agents seem to be able to connect with her. I am connected with her voice mail box, but it's too full to leave messages. I am finally routed after two calls back to "someone in Furniture". I tell my story, AGAIN, and he connects me with MDX. Not the Portland hub, but the national customer service (again, with the customer service) agent who tells me that they cannot schedule deliver before April 16. I am almost in tears by this point. I say no, no, no. The local dispatcher in Portland told me I could have delivery Wednesday, April 2, and she is to call that dispatcher and tell him to call me and confirm this right away. She agrees. Then, I get a call from another MDX customer service agent telling me that the soonest my couch can be delivered is April 16. If I ever buy anything from Pottery Barn again, my husband has permission to shoot me and put me out of my misery. I have no idea if I will ever see that couch. read more

Here's how to lose customers. We visited Pottery Barn in Portland intending to buy 3 Kilim rugs and 3 pads. We found the rugs we wanted, on sale and on display. Then... we're told 2 of the rugs we want are not in stock. Can we buy the rugs on display at the same price? No. Why? We just can't. I call another Pottery Barn, they have one of the rugs we want in stock, at TWICE the price, oh and also on sale. Why a higher price? Dunno, maybe the manager marked the rug you're looking at down. You mean the one they won't sell me? Bottom line, Pottery Barn could have sold 3 rugs and 3 premium pads in about a ten minute span. Instead they convinced 2 customers to take their business elsewhere. Good job guys!! read more

Today I went to browse Pottery Barn during my lunch break. I was getting ideas and deciding whether I would register at the store for my upcoming wedding. I explored the entire store and was shocked that after browsing for nearly 20 minutes I was never acknowledged by a single employee. It's not that all the employees were busy. I am 22 and was probably the youngest adult in the store and I listened and observed the shoppers older than myself being greeted and approached. Had I been with my mother or another person older than myself, I know I wouldn't have been ignored. Although I'm 22, I'm completely capable of shopping in the store, but I will NOT be registering here. read more

I came here with 10 mins to spare in hopes of wrapping up some last minute gift shopping. I knew I wanted a high quality set of bath towels and put my last hopes on this place. I was greeted immediately upon my arrival and my request for direction was welcomed. I was shown a few options fitting the description of what I wanted and upon deciding was ushered right to a cash register. When I told the courteous associate that it was a gift, she offered to wrap it for me at no cost. It turned out beautifully and I couldn't be happier with the presentation. I was out the door with a minute to spare and a gift in my hand that would surely bring tears. My dad loves a good bath rug.. what can I say? I am on my second sofa from PB and still not happy this company is hard to deal with and I will never do business with them again. The prices are high and the quality is low. Pottery Barn is like gambling, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose! More often than not, I lose at the NW location, often encountering a lack of items advertised in store or online (The online situation being the worst! More on that later.) and aloof sales people that seem bothered by my inquiries regarding availability, alternate ideas, or even getting a box for a second choice item purchased. I've generally received better service at Washington Square with more attentive staff and more ability to locate items. Regarding online services...long story short...a plethora of catalogs, each attempt to order met with out of stock/discontinued and/or back ordered months ahead messages. Yes, I did mean discontinued AND back ordered upon the day the catalog arrived. I love a lot of the products and think that PB does a great job merchandising but there is a lot of room to improve. read more

I had a pretty good shopping experience in that the staff helped me pick out chairs and a table. They were prompt and efficient and pretty darned pleasant. But when it came to delivery they were completely absent. I told them from the start we had no vehicle large enough to carry everything. They suggested I make multiple trips... which wouldn't help because the table is toooooo big for either of our little cars. They gave us the number of a past employee who they utilize for deliveries. I left him a message and he didn't return the call. I called the store and asked what kind of delivery options they had and they gave me another phone number for a different delivery service. And I guess I should have asked them at this point whether or not they have ever actually managed a delivery because it seemed like an utterly foreign concept to them. Anyhow, I called the other company. They brought the table and chairs to me within 3 hours and charged me $40. I think that company was called Direct Transport and I'd give them 5 stars if I could find them on Yelp. Interestingly enough, that courier was confused about the whole transaction because he said normally Pottery Barn coordinates the delivery and they even have paperwork to go with the merch. He didn't even know what to charge me. But now I'm left with a mountain of styrofoam and cardboard which no like. Next time I'll just order on-line. read more

I am in the middle of a house remodel and I have been busy shopping for most items online. However I really wanted to look and feel the fabric of the bedding, towels and linens before buying so I ventured into the NW 23rd Pottery Barn and I am so glad I did. Flora helped us figure out exactly what we needed to buy. I am at the stage in the remodel where I am done making decisions so I showed her photos of our furniture and paint colors and she put the whole deal together for us. We ended up buying more then we set out to, but it looks like we hired a interior decorater so im totally thrilled. I thought we were just going in to get some ideas and inspiration and we are literally set with the final part of a huge project. read more

Worst customer experience I've had in a very long time. I went in today and honestly felt like we were a total inconvenience. We were asked in a rudely manner what she can help us with. No "hi, how are you guys." I still let it go. I then asked her if I can place an order with her for a bathroom mirror. She rolled her eyes and said "well, do you know finish and size you want?" She was so rude, went and got my 2 year old a disposable mask and told me to put it on him. I'm not against wearing a mask but for the 2 year old? Most places don't require a 2 year old to wear a mask. I then proceeded to go upstairs, one worker was up there on her phone. Didn't even look up to greet us or ask what she can help with. We were there for 20 minutes. I was there to purchase bathroom fixtures and a new couch. ($6000 worth of stuff) I even asked my husband.. "do I look like a bum?" I was very disappointed. I left the store empty handed. Let me also remind you guys that we went on a Monday and there were maybe 2 other customers there. I then came home didn't feel so good about it.. called the store to speak with a manager. I got Jennifer, told her my issue. She didn't seem to care. Didn't ask who helped me, or what time I was there. I had some time to look at the reviews and quite a bit of people have had bad experiences here as well. I bought something that fell apart in just over 30 days, but didn't realize that they no longer stand behind their products. Very disappointed to call and find out that anything that disintegrates only gets a refund if you do it in 30 days or less. Everything else you're stuck with. Great job, PB! Is this really the way you want to do business? Thirty days or LESS? That's the kind of merchandise you're now selling? I am so disappointed, because it used to be a store you could count on. Now? You can never fault the happy, go lucky people who work here. You can almost see their pride haloing above their heads. It's nice to come to a place where people are excited about where they work and what they do. It's refreshing. This two story store is very pretty, but a little overly crowded with as much things as possible. I miss the old PB, where products were displayed to enhance the place; now they simply cramp as much as possible. It gives me an image of overstocked. I'm sure there are so much they want to sell but so little room. There's only so much entertaining pieces you can buy and eventually it becomes diluted. I must be at the diluted stage because i can't justify spending any more money on these entertaining pieces. Plus, it's repetitive. I guess if you have a formula that works, why change. Unfortunately for me, the consumer, my preference and style has changed. Perhaps, PB should evolve with their buyers. Just a thought. It's still a nice store to walk through to get ideas and always fun to window shop. read more

No grace period, high interest rate and late fees, and the interest accumulated in advance of receiving the goods.
