My friend and I went out for fish fry! We ended up here, we've NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL EVER! I ended up with breaded pork chop dinner and my friend had the Polish platter. OMG!! Needless to say you want an excellent close to Mama made dinner come to Potts! It was outstanding. They give you a sharp knife, no need falls right a part. Best pork chop dinner! I didn't even ask my friend how his dinner was it was a PLATTER FULL and he ate every bit! Fresh rye bread, butter, sweet sour cabbage, mashed with gravy everything done to perfection! The wait staff is very friendly and more than helpful. Prices for such a meal unbelievable. And the topper, old fashioned birch beer. Yumba all around. The restaurant is like Sunday dinner at grandmas. Nothing special just good food. I highly recommend and we will be back for sure read more

Cute little diner vibe restaurant serving lots of polish food, sandwiches, etc. it was not very busy in the restaurant but on Fridays their banquet hall area is busy! They have live music and events and people really seem to love it. Back to the food- overall it was a 4/5. The dishes are full of flavor and portions are average. Service was a 10/5!!! Tina was excellent. The most unique thing we had was their tartar sauce which actually has horseradish in it! It really gave it a nice flavor so you have to try that! Overall it's a great place to stop in for Polish food favorites or a good fish fry on a Friday night. It's you're up for more of a party, check out their live music and events in the hall. read more

Disclaimer. This review is for their Broadway Market location. We were at the Market on Good Friday with a few thousand other people. Potts stand was cranking out the food. First our menu's, then we had to ask for our drinks, then had to ask when we were ready to place our orders. Absolutely ridiculous! Had to approach waitress as she claims to not have seen us come in but the bells on the door rang & we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. Really good pierogi! I love the cheese and my husband is a fan of the baked potato, but all fillings are good. They have a full menu with polish selections as well as sandwiches, fingers and several other options. Laid back atmosphere and decor (think family restaurant from the 80's). Servers are always nice and we have never had an issue with the food or service. read more

Wow! So great to finally sample the home cooking at this little treasure in Kaisertown! Dined solo, and had to try a specialty dinner, the Zrazy. Dinner was served quickly, tasted good, and cost just $15 including tip. P.S., they have ab all you can eat soup & salad bar, 4 home cooked soups available every day. Also a large attached banquet hall, where a live polka band was playing to a crowd for a $5 cover charge. Banquet hall has a bar & serves food off the menu. Next door hey also have an "express" deli. My mom was craving a fish fry last Friday, so I told her I'd take her out somewhere. I struck out the last two places I picked for her, so I searched for a new place we hadn't been to. I discovered Potts on the map and after looking at the menu decided to give it a try. It's your typical neighborhood restaurant- as in, no fancy tablecloths or napkins, no water glasses on the table, no trendy music playing, no waitstaff in uniforms. Just some friendly people working their butts off so you can enjoy some home cooking. We both ordered the fish fry after checking with our waitress to make sure the side salads were dairy-free. Food came out quickly given the amount of people inside. The fish was cooked perfectly and not too greasy. Here your fish comes with macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, fries, AND a slice of rye bread. Unheard of!! The coleslaw was delicious, but I thought the potato & macaroni salads were lacking in flavour and drowning in mayo. The fries were good but those are pretty hard to screw up. I gave my bread to my mother and she slathered it with butter and never uttered a complaint. My mom almost finished her meal, which hardly ever happens these days given her age and level of pickiness. If you're vegetarian or vegan, this is not the place for you. I eat vegan most of the time for health reasons, but can splurge on fish now and then. If you have no restrictions, this place is worth a try for the fish fry. read more

I grew up in a Polish household. I appreciate Polish cooking. Last evening my daughter was not feeling well and asked for Polish Villa, our normal go to for Polish comfort food. I suggested "Potts" because they make zrazy - a beef roll up. To the best of my knowledge, Polish Villa does not. I and my daughter ordered the Polish Platter. This came with golumbki, pierogi, zrazy, mashed spuds and sweet and sour cabbage. The food was OK, not great. Seasoning was/is a factor. The golumbki tasted of ground pepper, which is good, however would have benefited with the addition of onion, garlic, anything. Very bland. The cheese pierogi suffered from a similar fate. Cheese was very loose and neither sweet nor savory. My biggest complaint is about the cabbage; it had no texture. Very mushy. A huge issue with me is that the polish sausage served is/was not local. I grew up with Wardynski's and Redlinski's polish sausage. There were a few others back in the day. Both of these are still in existence and produce the best product available locally. What I had yesterday was a Hillshire Farms or similar kielbasa wanna be. To be fair, Polish Villa does the same. I don't know if I would return. The food was not bad but I know that I can get better with PV. read more

When you are brought up with good home cooked meals or in my husbands case his grams good food when she catered. This is the kind of food she cooked. We always get the 2 pork chop dinner. Pork chops are always breaded and so tender you can pull the meat with your fork -no knife required. We each have one and then we get the zrarny beef rolls. The stuffing is so delicious. Each dinner comes with potato and veggies. Oh and with the pork chop you get your side of apple sauce. They also have a polish platter sausage, pierogi and golumpki. All are straight from a great polish cook. There are many other options on the menu that will make anyone happy. Need some comfort home made food you need to stop by this place! read more

We had our mother's funeral luncheon here in August 2023. Kim was very easy to work with and very attentive to our needs. The waitress and the bar tender were kind and compassionate to our loss, as well as attentive servers. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We had the Polish Sausage, Cabbage Rolls, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, Lazy Perogie and pasta with Marinara Sauce. Everything was homemade and soooooo good! Our guests all raved about how flavorful everything was. The banquet hall was tastefully decorated and expertly set up for our smallish party of 40 people. My wife and I took my mother-in-law out to dinner here around 5:30 on a Friday night. I married into a Polish family, and sometimes they enjoy going out for some of their ethnic favorites that they do not frequently cook. I ordered the pork chop platter with their homemade mashed potatoes and sweet & sour cabbage. I split it with my wife who ordered the Polish plater that came with a large pierogi (we choose kraut), sweet & sour cabbage, Zrazy, stuffed cabbage and smoked sausage. They start the meal with a marbled rye bread that they receive fresh every morning. It was delicious! My chops where good - they are cooked the traditional polish way which makes them very tender. They use a flour coating, which is somewhat mushy. I tried all of the components of the Polish Platter and found them mostly good. The pierogi was the star of the plate IMO. Recently the Polish Villa was voted best pierogi in Buffalo. The Villa does not hold a candle to these. The kraut pierogi was plump, with a flavorful filling. My mother-in-law ordered the broiled fish after the pleasant smell of fish fry greeted us upon entering. The portions of all the dishes were large. Non of us finished our meals. Pott's has an old neighborhood vibe to it. It is located in Kaisertown, an original Polish neighborhood in Buffalo, NY. Every time I eat here I can tell that I am surrounded by locals from the neighborhood. If I was to offer any criticism, the service was extremely slow. I was in no hurry, but there were times my wife and mother-in-law were making comments. The staff wore masks the entire time. We ordered lunch for a meeting. HOT food for a 11:45am drop off. Food was delivered at 12:15. Roast beef was refrigerator cold and was told to just pour the warm au ju over it to warm it up. The rest was cold as well. Called and talked to the manager/owner. We were told, can't you just put it on the stove and warm it up?? Ummm, no. Potts is a bit of a drive for me but it was well worth it. The reason I made the trek was because a favorite band of mine was doing Polka Buzz there. I totally recommend going for Polka Buzz. It happens once a month and the schedule is listed on the Polka Buzz website. You get to listen to polka music and eat great polish food. If you want to dance, you can dance! I ordered a Polish platter and it was loaded with food. I love Polish food since I grew up with it. This tasted like what I've always had. Later in the evening, we ordered onion rings and jalapeño poppers. Both were inexpensive. They weren't the best I ever had but worth the price. I've ordered food from Here on Friday nights like 10 Times, for 2 times were the Golomki's (the soft, tender Cabbage Leaves filled with Pork Sausage & Rice topped with a Generous amount of Tomato Sauce). Very nourishing and very filling, 5 times I've ordered Fish Fries from here (normally I'm not crazy for Fish due to the Breading masking the Fish sometimes but this was done just right). accompanied by Cole Slaw & Potato Salad. 3 other times I've ordered French Dip Sandwiches (Thinly Sliced tender Beef on Kaiser Roll waiting to be dipped in Piping Hot Jus and just letting the Bread soak it all in). first 2 Times I've enjoyed it with some crunch from the Bread that's been toasted. The 3rd time however (which was moments ago) although we got our Sandwiches, they forgot to put the Jus in the Bag, Dad said they were busy but that's still no excuse to forget something so Vital. so we had to heat up some Jus from a Jar downstairs, pretty disappointing. so we decided to take a Break from ordering for awhile, hopefully next time they won't forget read more

Potts Deli is a Polish diner that is greatly underrated. This place is clean has great customer service and nice home like atmosphere. Our waitress was absolutely great. My wife ordered the the roast beef and I ordered the Polish platter. Each item on my platter was great, it came with a glomki, zarzy, perogie, and a smoked sausage. We each had a side of sweet and sour cabbage and mashed potatoes. As we were dining my wife and I were looking at the Valentine's Day event they have. It is a couple that sings and performs classics while in costume, so we bought tickets. Yes Polka parties are crazy old timers know how to kick it up. Usually around 9pm goes around I am ready for bed. Not with these folks they dance and live with zest and happiness that is infectious. God bless their child like hearts. So you can read my review and want to take a Polka at it but I can suggest that you don't knock it until you come and try it. From the T-shirts that are hung upon the wall that lets you know about Potts Deli is loyal to the Polish brand. Join the team and eat, dance and listen to Polka. Clap, clap, clap. So I went back to try the Beef on Weck lunch special and was pretty disappointed. First the sandwich was again stacked thin, like two pieces of beef thin. Then the beef was overcooked and dry, I don't think there was a bit of juice to it, as the roll showed no sign of soaking any up. The roll itself was different. It was like a mini hogi shape slightly bigger than a normal round weck roll, super soft and fresh, which is good, but the salt they use was very fine and covered to much of the roll, couldn't knock any off without taking the caraway with it. Then to top it off Horseradish was weak, not even a sniffle of a nose clear. Really just a terrible rendition of this Buffalo staple I would never order again. Besides for the freshness of the roll, the only other redeeming quality of the meal was the fries. Just as good as the seasoned waffle fries last time, cooked to golden perfection. They made up slightly for the bad Beef on Weck. Lunch special should have came with a drink but the waitress forgot as she was busy serving the no one else that was in the place. Sorry I bothered you from sitting at a booth with the other waitress doing nothing. I suppose I could have said something but figured it was probably just sugary fountain drink crap anyway. Not saying I would never eat here again, just that it could use better execution, Also website needs prices updated as well as it's $6.50 for this lunch special now, not $5.50. Was very excited to try this place, but was pretty disappointed. The food was fine, but nothing outstanding. The prices are a bit more, and the portions are a bit less. They were not overly accommodating either. Just a personal opinion, but when it comes to Polish food, or any "authentic" food of another country, there will be people who are not huge fans of it. Some things are considered more acquired tastes, so when they were not willing to substitute my friend's cabbage/sauerkraut for anything at all, or even willing to do a slight upcharge for something else, it was really an inconvenience. She wanted to try the platter (combination of the Polish favorites), but didn't want to pay the higher price for the one thing she knew she would not eat. It put her in an odd situation, as that was the only meal that even offered a variety of Polish favorites. In general, they were not overly friendly. The food, like I said was fine, but if you know Polish food, you will know that this is not the best in any way, especially considering the prices/portions. I would eat here again, but I definitely would not go out of my way to come here for the Polish food. read more

I got off work at 7PM on this particular Friday. I was in need of dinner and My associates recommend that I try Potts Deli. I had never been there before, I was very hungry and it was close. I was very pleased to see how bright and cheerful it was. I was seated and was greeted by a very erstwhile member of the wait staff. She brought Me a nice polish beer and I poured the beer and then poured over the menu. It listed a great number of Polish Courses. I gave the items a great deal of thought. I ordered the Fish Fry. I succumbed to the siren call of the Buffalo Friday Night Fish Fry. Hey, " when in Rome!?" I promise that on My next visit I will order ethnic. There will be a next visit because My fish fry was a fine fry. The fish was light and flaky and the batter was very tasty. The sides were fine as well. They included the Holy Trinity of Mac salad, potato salad and cole slaw. When the dish was presented it had two lovely pieces of rye bread covering the fry. It was a fine Friday Fish Fry. read more

Awful! Stopped in here recently for dinner and when you are the only table occupied at 5pm on Thursday night that is your first clue that you've made a mistake. I had thought about trying the salad bar before we got there, but after seeing it and the lack of business I skipped it....the staff was not only very unfriendly but also creepy to the point where it became uncomfortable for me. No less than two waitresses, a couple of guys and a man I assume was the owner came out to stare at us--but didn't say a word. Weird!...anyway I had stuffed cabbage rolls which included mashed potatoes, sweet and sour cabbage and rye bread. The cabbage rolls were mostly rice and the cabbage leaves were so incredibly tough that I could barely cut through them. Not enough sauce served with them either so dry. I elected to not have gravy on my potatoes when the waitress asked, and of course they were served with gravy. Bravo for asking and then doing whatever you wanted anyway...rye bread was dry and stale soooo stale , but the sweet and sour cabbage was actually really good...or the rest was so bad that it didn't seem so bad. This place is a hole, skip it if you can. By the time we left there were a couple of tables occupied, with very "mature" people . When we were leaving the owner was standing in the outer hallway and didn't bother to even hold the door for two women. What a jerk. I would not ever, ever give this dump another nickel of my money when there are so many other much better and friendlier places to spend it. read more

Went on a weekday around 2pm only 3 tables including ours... our waitress was so rude and Miserable acted like she didn't wanna be there gave us our menus we placed our order as we began to order chicken wings she tells us its going to take 25 minutes is that OK yeah that's OK that's what we want chicken wings...ordered the chicken wings ordered a Burger and a wrap when the food came out the wings came out last and the Burger bun was drenched in a buttery oil and grilled so much that it was burnt it was hard and crispy the Burger had no flavor to it was very very plain... the chicken wings were soggy and greasy...After we got our food we did not see our waitress for the rest of the time.. we had to ask the other staff to find her so we can cash out.. still gave her a $8.00 tip. We had our hearts set on Ray,s on Clinton St only to discover the were closed. A member of our foursome suggested Pott,s. Her sister in law dances at Pott,s banquet hall and has eaten at the restaurant. So we went for a short ride up the street to at a restaurant none of us have tried before. There were a multitude of Polish t-shirts to buy hanging on the wall a as you walked in. We were quickly settled and handed a rather large menu. Two of us were ready to order the fish fry but quickly changed our minds after reading the menu. The food was good and plentiful. I thought about taking a picture but my meal was already half eaten. Next time. And there will be a next time. Service was friendly and attending without being overbearing and hovering. The prices were reasonable. Looks like Ray,s lost some customers. Went there recently hoping for a BBQ hamburger. But they weren't on the menu everyday. So instead I ordered the pierogi dinner. It was amazing. It came with sweet and sour cabbage. I was sold. The pierogis were delicious too. There was so much to eat, I brought home half the dinner, and it was enough for another full dinner meal. I've never had a bad meal there, even ever since it was called The Beef Station. My only suggestion is to have the BBQ hamburgers on their menu every day. read more

Our family went to this restaurant for Easter Brunch last year and it was digusting. We arrived two hours before it ended and there was one piece of ham in the shaffer, a tiny bit of dried up eggs in another shaffer and we went up 3 to 4 times and still no food. No beef, no sausage, no pasta, nothing!! We were even unable to get drinks at the table, were served by an 8 or 9 year old child. Not even a tablecloth on the table. No one cared that there wasn't any food left! We were so frustrated that we asked for our money to be returned. The staff was so bad there wasn't even an apology for the crap food or service. Definitely not a professionally run business. The owner was extremely rude, and no one seemed to know what the heck was going on! Just a word of caution, go ANYWHERE else besides this place! I had been hearing good things about the food and saw they had a lunch counter at the Broadway Market that was packed full of patrons so when I found myself headed out near them last night, my daughter and I decided to stop for dinner. She is a fussy eater and we happily split the mozzarella sticks appetizer. It was the perfect size to not spoil our appetites 4 pc order). She ordered the stuffed shells dinner special and finished every bite! I was very happy she liked it. She is a fussy teen who picks out every piece of onion or vegetable in a meal, but she asked if we could come back again. I ordered the platter with 3 cheese pierogi, mashed potato and gravy, and sweet and sour cabbage. Being a good Polish gal and making the family pierogi recipe every year I am always leary to try other recipes because they never taste like home. These were pretty darn good! I'm sorry to say the sauerkraut was way over-cooked and fairly tasteless, as were the pierogis (which were a good size though). I feel I can make a better Polish meal at home and I've just learned recently. I can't comment on portion size for the price b/c I was there for a special event - so I didn't order off the menu, but just got what was arranged for by the organization. Overall, I'd say it might be worth a second chance, based on the amount of good reviews given, by ordering something else. However, I admit, I probably won't be going back anytime soon. read more

We recently had lunch at the Potts Deli at the Broadway Market. My husband ordered the Polish Platter, which included a pierogi, a golomki, a piece of smoked kielbasa. That all tasted good, but he also got a small scoop of mashed potatoes & a small scoop of sweet & sour cabbage. The plate cost over $14. Although it tasted good, the servings were just too small and the entire plate was so small for the price. The potatoes came plain without the tomato juice on them and they looked so plain.
