I was left without 4 x 4 for a half a year and they use zip ties to disengage it and keep it out-of-the-way instead of having the problem fixed the whole month they had it (x''s 4 months) The effort seems there by the front office, but I gave my truck to them for a month 4 different times, (having it 4 to 5 weeks time) and they still couldn't fix what I relayed what the ford shop told me to take care of. They sold me something I didn't need, when I told him that wasn't the problem that Ford was telling me to take care of, every time I got it back the issue was never fixed. The frustration of these guys having my vehicle for a months time and still not fixing a vacuum leak on one side of my four-wheel-drive integrated hub is extremely aggravating. They violated my breathalyzer costing me over $200 with multiple trips driving mechanics around managers around without a fillup. I turn my vehicle in clean with the promised it being out of the elements and I get it back like the Sahara sands on vehicle and they offer me a card to the car wash down the street... unreal, that should've been taken care of by them. The district Superman that came in with the Cape basically slapped me in the face and told me I can take care of all the other expenses since he's not giving me a bill. BG Automotive? More like "BS" Automotive. The one star is for an oil change (since 0 stars is not…read morean option). BG Auto IS SHADY, smooth talking for sure, but A RIP OFF. STAY AWAY. This is a lengthy description, but it's not half the story. To all the glowing 5 star reviewers - check your invoices. The problem started with their "courtesy inspection" accompanying the oil change, where half of their recommendations (deemed red flag "Requires Immediate Attention") ultimately turned out to be mostly unnecessary and absurdly expensive. That became apparent only after paying. My bad, of course, I obviously should have asked to see a detailed estimate prior to the work. The initial estimate did not provide parts or labor detail & appeared to indicate the work was part of a "complete tune up." Upon dropping off the truck, "Service Advisor"Jesse stated that Champion copper spark plugs had been factory installed on 2013 RAM 2500s, so that was best & what BG would install. Classic BAIT & SWITCH: BG charged $508.48 for a set of 16 plugs! When I challenged the bill, asking if "kryptonite plugs" were installed instead, Jesse indicated, no, the copper plugs were used... then he checked his computer & stated, actually no, in fact the [far] more expensive NKG iridium plugs were installed. "They're much better because they last up to 100,000 miles," he emphasized. I replied, "Great. BG just changed out NGK iridium plugs that had been in the engine already, with only 60,000 miles on them." The WORK WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Also on the bill was a "TOTAL FEES" charge of $175.77 (yes, that specific), but with ZERO DETAIL of what those fees were for or how they were calculated. Jesse couldn't provide that detail either, "It could be shop supplies, or hazardous disposal - you know, those state regulations - it could be almost anything." Note there were no hazardous materials involved with this work, such as a tire or battery disposal fee. (Google search indicates: In Colorado, shop fees are usually calculated as a percentage of the labor cost (e.g., 5-10%) and are often capped at a maximum amount (e.g., $25 to $50). Also, Colorado statute requires the repair invoice to have some kind of description of these fees, and further, "a description of each part by name and identifying number." Nowhere on the invoice was the type of plugs installed specified, either. You get NADA DETAIL from BS Automotive. Finally, while repair shops typically mark up parts 70-100% of wholesale price, BG is marking up parts in the ballpark of 100% of retail price. (If you can pry out of them the parts brand they say they'll use, you can easily verify this with a Google search at their counter.) They should be ashamed and embarrassed for what they're charging the hardworking folks of Longmont. When pressed to justify the charges, Jesse insisted they were competitive, "within 5% of other local repair shops." More BS. Comparing apples to apples (parts & labor only), the local dealership quoted over $200 less, the Loveland repair shop I've frequented in the past was over $400 less (obviously, checked after the fact...). If the handful of other shops Jesse quoted are actually within 5%, they are ripping us off too. Jesse would not budge on the final bill, but he did offer to comp me an oil change. As if! I had already told him I would never set foot in BG Automotive again. However, I would take a call from the BG Automotive (Owner) to provide the rest of the story about this pathetic BG encounter.

Community was the only auto shop open at this hour so I took my chances walking in. They had me pull into the shop and two of the guys worked on the trunk, playing with the latch until it worked, and then testing it a bunch of times to make sure it stuck. BEWARE! I have had my jeep for 12 years and while I have had some problems, it has been pretty…read morereliable. That was until I brought it to On the Side. I brought it there less than 3 months ago to have them check out the whole car to see if there were any issues. They, of course, found some issues and charged me about $2000 to fix them (ball joints, tie rods, spark plugs etc.) This was after they were supposed to have fully checked the car. I had them do all their recommended fixes, which included fixing issues with the radiator that they said were needed. Well, that is where the issues started! About 1.5 weeks later, my clutch fails without any warning. My clutch has been fully reliable and solid up to that point, no signs of wearing out. So I go back and pay them about $1500 to fix that issue. Or course, maybe a coincidence that they did not find it during their checks. The car also had some issues with the gear going into reverse that were not fixed by the clutch replacement (they claimed they did not even find it after fixing the clutch), and their response was "well, that's just a jeep". (This was their first point not standing behind their repairs). A few weeks later I go to have the oil changed and they tell me that my car is a couple quarts low on oil. Shouldn't they found this on their review of the car? (I would think so, but when I brought this up with Angelo, he said "well, we didn't check the oil".) I brought it in for a full review and they did not check the oil!?! They had done almost $3500 of work including a work-up of the car and did not EVER check the oil? OK, I let that one go too, and then a some weeks later the radiator fails - cracks and fails completely! They had just worked on the radiator and did not see any issue that would lead to a total failure? And when I brought it to them, their answer was "radiators fail all the time... when it rains, it pours". Really? Maybe it should be better stated, when you bring your car to On the Side Automotive it pours. That was the last straw. I have had good and bad mechanics in the past. Good mechanics stand behind their work and never seem to generate new issues on the car after they work on it. Bad mechanics never stand behind their work and seem to, as if by magic, generate consistent repairs on a car. Angelo seems like a nice enough guy, but based on my experience, I would not trust him with an oil change unless you want a major repair in the near future. Fool me once, shame on you. For…read moresome back story, I replaced my brakes at this location in March 2025 because my sister and I have been going to CBA for years. I had a great experience. Since then I have moved to Johnstown so four months ago when I needed an oil change I thought I would go to the Berthoud location because I thought they would be just as great as this location. Wrong. They were horribly rude to me and I questioned if I would ever come back to a CBA at all but I remembered the FoCo location was always so kind to me. Wednesday 7/29/26 I called and scheduled an appointment for a COURTESY INSPECTION because my brakes have been grinding after only a year. I had the unfortunate pleasure to get paired up with David. I told him about my Berthoud experience and he seemed really bothered. He told me that was his very close friend and he personally trained him and proceeded to ask a ton of questions before taking my car back for the inspection. I also added an oil change. 30 minutes later David comes back with the inspection paperwork in hand and tells me he can't figure out what's wrong with the brakes but they are metal on metal and I just need to replace them. I ask him if he knew what caused them to grind down so aggressively after only a year? I only city drive between FoCo and Loveland and I have been to Denver twice since replacing my brakes. He told me they don't know and couldn't figure it out either, but the inspection was done and the only thing he could do was give me a small coupon for replacement. I told him I didn't feel comfortable having him replace my brakes a second time if he couldn't tell me what the issue with them was. He said they couldn't figure it out during the inspection and asked if when I go to another shop if I could call him back to let him know what the issue is. Excuse me????? Absolutely not. I left and decided to go to another shop. I grabbed the paperwork David had given me to show them the inspection report and photos and guess what? IT SAYS CUSTOMER DECLINED COUTESY INSPECTION. How did I decline a service I scheduled an appointment for? I was so angry I had to wait several days to post this review to remain more professional. This was a horrible experience and David is 100% the reason I will never come back.
