As December days started to get frostier, I could no longer ignore our thermostat shutting off every time I tried to increase the temperature. I gave a call to another HVAC business first but they could not be there until the end of the week and given that this was only Monday I looked at my Nextdoor posting where I asked neighbors for a recommendation. Powell was recommended by more than one neighbor so I gave them a call. Amber, I believe, explained their fees and procedure and followed up on detailed questions I had. Lost air conditioning on July 1st and Powell Mechanical got here on afternoon of July 2nd and had us up and cooling in about an hour. Strangely enough, our 30 year old A/C broke last year over the July 4th weekend, and Jeremy was able to get it running until he could install a new system the next week. It has been running flawlessly, and this call had nothing to do with the new install. I can't say enough good things about this company. I found out on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago that my water heater was dead. I put in a service request with my home warranty company (AHS) and on Monday morning I got an automated message that my request was dispatched to a vendor and I would get a callback within 48 hrs. Incidentally this was a vendor who had been here for another service request a year ago and I would rate them a 2 out of 5. I need hot water. I friend had recommended Powell Mechanical, so I called and the company owner Jeremy answered. He told me he had to drop his kid off at school and he would come over. He was here in less than an hour, and diagnosed the problem. The gas valve had failed, and since the water heater was 14 years old he recommended replacing the whole thing, because it was at the end of its life cycle, and another problem was only a matter of time coming. I know that's true; past experience has been that about 15 years is the average length of time before I've had to replace one. So he said he would go get a new one and would be back in less than 2 hours. He started draining the tank and left. An hour later he showed back up and in another hour and a half I had a new water heater installed. The price was reasonable, he left the jobsite clean and was extremely pleasant to work with. For me a good attitude goes a long way. I would recommend this company every day of the week without reservation. They are actually coming back tomorrow to replace a 20 yr old mini split AC with heat pump that finally died (leaky coil leaking refrigerant). He told me he could try to fix the leak, but that was a bandaid, and the unit was old. I wouldn't have hired anyone else to deal with this. read more

It was a complete job that required the removal of two wall furnaces, and the heavily anticipated addition of ducting for a two story, new heater in the attic, attic fan and AC.
