Recently stopped here on our way back from Blue Mesa. Very unique gas station/restaurant with killer food! I had the grazer (veggie burger) with curly fries. Everything was awesome. Awesome little hole in the wall! Had one of the best Philly's ever. Sweet chili Philly is the bomb, as recommended by the person running the counter. Wednesday night was flip night where they flip a quarter to see if you pay for your drink or not. We lost both flips but awesome concept. We spent the weekend camping in Gunnison. This place met all of our criteria! It was nice to have a dog friendly place and the food was excellent. I am not even much of a burger person, but that Beyond burger was outstanding. They put a lot of onions on it, served it with curly fries, and the bread was out of this world. Food is always good. However we had an incident where we reserved a table and while getting our food a man and his family sat down. we politely let him know we had a large party coming for the reserved table and he begrudgingly got up them continued to loudly complain and try to pick a fight with kids half his age. when we let the staff know, they did nothing as he was some thug friend of theirs. Cant recommend as clearly this large guy was looking for a fight and owners did nothing. not a great crowd for bringing your family. read more

Ok, I'm giving a 3.5 based on two visits. Recent visit, maybe a three...first was 5+... The staff, friendly enough and the place is clean enough. Especially for looking like such a dive from the outside, you walk in and are presently surprised. No frills gas station but with the added bonus of made to order food. Locally baked bread saved my burger from a 1 star review. Let me tell you, the bread is amazing. The meat on my double burger with bacon was lightly seasoned giving it a good flavor. The first time I ate here, the meat was cooked to a solid medium (I am a medium rare kinda guy) which still left some juice to make the burger downright tasty for a dive burger stop. This recent stop, I'd say we were 30 seconds away from making it shelf stable for a couple years. I wasn't the only one. My co-Pilot suffered from the same pitiful almost cremates burger. Since I talked this place up, another car load of guys hungry from a week of snowmobiling also were served a delicious bun, fresh condiments and a patty that may have been sitting on an Iraqi highway for a week. So, first time here was awesome. Second time, cook was a little off..ok, way off. I will definitely stop again to see if it was just a bad day! read more

I am really starting to feel sorry for the owners. The food is definitely five stars, but the staff is zeros. It never fails. They always finish their conversation for 5-7 minutes and then take your order. There is Always a line because everyone is too busy talking except for the young girl if she's not cooking, she's cleaning tables And another guy that works the register skinny tall, dude, with glasses but I've only seen him twice, yesterday I waited 40 minutes for chicken tenders, my break was up so I had to go back to work. I would've ended up not being able to eat dinner if it wasn't for the guy behind the register who literally ran out to the parking lot so I got something to eat. I didn't want to judge this place off that one experience so I went back today for lunch unfortunately when I went to order the guy at the registered told me to hang on a second, and went back to his conversation, needless to say I walked out and went to McDonald's. It's very upsetting because someone put in the hard work to make the food as good as it is and it's just sad that employees ruin someone else's business that they work so hard for. Probably gonna give this place one more shot and I hope you will too. The food really is delicious. And I hope your experience is different than mine. read more

Very disappointing. After ordering at the counter we looked for a clean table and found none. I had to throw someone else's garbage away so we could sit down. We spent over an hour here and never saw an employee come out from behind the counter to bus tables. They warn patrons that food takes some time. We waited over thirty minutes for overcooked, flavorless burgers (they tasted as if they didn't even use salt and pepper). They claim to cook everything to medium unless requested otherwise, but ours were well-done and then some. Workers here are a model of inefficiency--I cannot understand what takes so long to turn out so little food. The ketchup at our table was spoiled and inedible. My guess is that they just keep re-filling half-empty squeeze bottles to the point where some of the ketchup in them is older than the staff. I was unable to eat half of my fries because I squirted them with the with the nasty stuff before I knew its condition. Should I mention the restroom? Let's just say that the men's room was filthy even for a gas station--but this is also a restaurant. Use at your own risk. We had high hopes for Power Stop but it's a real stretch to find anything good about our visit today. Oh wait, the buns were pretty good. read more

So we rolled into this place by accident on our way into CB. After getting some Rockstars and other goodies, I made it part of the plan to stop for sure on the way back. This place has it right. Grille, full bar, light stage, convenience store, and gas station all rolled into one. Voted best burger from 2010-2012, I have to think they'll get the nod for 2013 if it hasn't already been announced. The place has a great vibe and the music, food, and service hits on all cylinders. This was the BEST pit stop on our way to Crested Butte. It's a gas station/restaurant/convenience store in the cute town of Gunnison and they have the bestest burgers! Do not be fooled by the appearance of a gas station/convenience store as the Powershop makes pretty tasty food. I stopped in on a late lunch break, and although prices are on the high end, portions are generous. Meals come piping hot and orders are called out by name. My meal came with fries (straight or curly) and drinks are separate. Burgers seem to be the specialty, but my philly cheese was flavorful and I would definitely order it again. Layout of the restaurant reminds me of a dive bar - stool tables and booths are available, however the tables could use a wipe down. If ever in town again, I'd definitely stop by. read more

Gotta be the best place in town. It's located inside a gas station, but don't you dare be scared off from this. You walk inside and there is a gigantic menu behind the counter with nearly 20 burgers and 20 more sandwiches. The menu is great, but the food is better All burgers are big, messy and tasty. We were in Gunnison for six weeks. Power Stop was about the closest place to grab burgers to go. Probably ate here at least six times. Burgers and phillys were very good. Unfortunately the register/counter service really, really sucked. The last time, and I do mean last time, I felt like I had to watch the beer tender to make sure she didn't spit in my drink. All I did was ask for coleslaw instead of fries. If looks could kill I'd be dead. This may work for the raft guides and college folks but trust me it doesn't work for us generic tourists. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could! Do NOT come here for beer. They sale beer by the bottle. They tried to rip my mom off by charging her $36 for 2 six packs of coors light. The reason for the low score isn't due to the taste of the burger but due to the service. When you're waiting for your burger and the staff is talking amongst themselves saying "the special as far as I'm concerned is for locals not people driving through" there is just no need for that attitude. Also If you're going to talk shit make sure all of the patrons are out of the store. Even though it wasn't states to us it's absolutely disrespectful! Well, this place went downhill. Medium rare burger was so far past well done and the burger was flavorless. Two crumbles of blue cheese and a dash of siracha. Wow! A rather pleasant surprise on the boring road trip through the mountains. I was starved and angst ( just stopped taking my antidepressant) wanted to eat quickly and be on my way. Truly " the place " in Gunnison for the local hip crowd( which originally put me off) places my order and hoped for the best . With my dog waiting for me outside in the car ( barking his head off , my hunger , and post anti anxiety withdrawals, I was a short fuse ) I waited for what felt like forever , and was told itd just be a " little longer " , finally frazzled I got my food , fore went the fries , cause I couldn't wait . However - I must say - good things are well worth the wait . The burger ( bacon cheeseburger) was AMAZING absolutely delicious. Even down to the last detail of the perfectly toasted , crisp bun . Pretty tasty food. Reasonably priced tap beer. The philly seemed to have bbq sauce on it which was weird and I would have preferred not to have that. There are plenty of choices of burgers. We had the spicy Hawaiian, the bacon cheeseburger and the thrift shop burger. Every one loved their burger. I have to recommend the thrift shop. You will get a quality burger in place of the "amenities". I do make reference to a similar restaurant in Houston Tx, on Canal st. But this place I give it a higher score! Well worth the 101 miles we traveled from Ouray! Oh , on Wednesday if you call the coin toss at the counter you can get a free beer. This place has such a unique Mad Maxx vibe to it, with amazing service to match the appetizing food that they serve! This was our second time taking the drive up to Gunnison just to go eat there with a buddy who has never been. All three of us were blown out of the water with the taste of the burgers, I went with the BBQ Bacon Burger with their special BBQ added onto it as a reccomendation from one of their staff members. The burger came with lettuce and tomato, with your choice of fries or curly fries, I went with the curly fries which beat Arbys out of the water! 10/10 will be going again soon! read more

So a friend in CB mentioned this place, as I am a fan of the Gas Cafe in CB. Wow I will be back here soon. It is pretty much a gas station ( I got gas as well), convenience store with a short order grill. Both of the guys working there we upbeat and friendly. I ordered the wake up call, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I was thinking that was awhile but it passed by fast enough, while the guy made the sandwich from scratch. Amazing - The wake up call was bacon, egg, cheese, a hash brown, and a fat hamburger patty on Texas toast. Hot, super fresh and about 3 inches thick. I didn't eat again until dinner. I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu. read more
