PUNCTUALITY 7. THOROUGH EVALUATION We met with the following specialists: SEAN O'HARA (AC repair) - AC stopped emitting cool air. Fixed issue w/ filter repair. ALFRED BIRNHAUPL (AC leak repair) - Fixed pipe leak from AC and completed comprehensive assessment of our dysfunctional zoning system. DOMENICK ALONGE (project manager) - Reviewed findings from Alfred, provided detailed indication of issues and resolution options with several quotes. Here's why our experience has been superior to previous companies: All three specialists were not only punctual, friendly, and courteous, but they took their time to evaluate our issues in CLEAR layman terms corroborated by photos, and showing us exactly where the problems were in person. We previously obtained a quote from a large corporate company and was left feeling dumbfounded and stressed as they described the nature of our problem in engineering, technical jargon that made absolutely no sense, including astronomical quotes without explanation of the work entailed. We continued experiencing intermittent issues with our AC and heater so we called Friends & Family based on their excellent reviews. This time around, with Friends & Family, we left feeling knowledgeable and reassured, with reasonable quotes including various discount eligibility. We didn't feel pressured by them to choose one route vs. the other; rather, gained the information we needed to make an informed decision that would prevent such issues in the future. Overall, their attention to detail, ability to explain the issues and resolution routes in simple, concrete terms, were far superior than the preceding company. They exceeded our expectations and we much appreciated their patience and openness to answering all our questions. I also want to mention that I was gardening when SEAN was fixing our AC. He saw me struggling to dig a hole for my plant and volitionally offered to help me. He took the extra time to dig the hole for me, exemplifying his genuine kindness and generosity! Similarly, my kids were running amuck and screaming and shouting while I attempted to maintain a conversation with ALFRED. He was very understanding and continued to engage in conversation, appearing unbothered by the chaos with a pleasant disposition. Lastly, DOMENICK was appointed on the day of our son's birthday. He related to us interpersonally and even helped assemble my son's new Radio Flyer bike! I told him that Sean also helped me garden and we laughed about how Friends & Family is a "one-stop shop." Given everything I mentioned, we're excited to have our overdue AC/heater system fully repaired by Friends & Family. We can't wait for our longstanding issues to be behind us, and we anticipate leaving an updated review once the work is complete!

Edit: I also wanted to mention the process to schedule a time/day for someone to come out was seamless. Customer service was friendly, easy going, but also I received texts/info with Rigoberto's picture during arrival as well. All of this gave me so much reassurance that this company not only cares about your happiness but also your safety which is crucial in this day and age when someone comes to your home. Rigoberto wore booties too and it is always so nice when contractors respect your home.

    A few days ago, we experienced a power outage, and my air conditioner stopped blowing air. After…read morereading several reviews, I decided to have this company come and check my unit. I was informed that the diagnostic fee would be $89, which would be credited toward any necessary repairs or services. Devin came out to assess the situation. He discovered that a fuse was burned and replaced it. He also checked the AC capacitor and noted that it should be within 5% of 12.5 volts, but it was slightly lower, so he recommended replacing it. He quoted me $169 for the service and the capacitor. While checking the unit, he mentioned that another capacitor on the roof also needed to be replaced, quoting $285 for that part. Additionally, he clarified that the $169 service fee did not include the cost of the indoor capacitor, which would be an extra $165. I found this pricing quite unusual and expressed my concern, to which he replied that these parts are generally expensive. The total came to $589, but Devin said he provided a discount, bringing it down to $500. I asked him to leave the old capacitors for me to inspect. After doing some research online, I found that one capacitor was priced under $20 and the other slightly above that amount. I have included pictures for your reference. Essentially, the initial issue was a burnt fuse, and the two capacitors were replaced because they were old and potentially damaging to the unit in the future. However, the pricing for these parts feels dishonest. I had read many positive reviews about this company, particularly praising Shawn's honesty, so I am left feeling disappointed. It's disheartening to think that in our community, some may take advantage of others simply because they can. I believe we should treat each other with respect and integrity, especially when it comes to services we provide and receive. Unfortunately, my experience here has led me to feel that my trust was misplaced. I would not recommend this company; integrity is not something you can sell. AC unit is working all right as it did before.

    I took a chance on Tom and Pure Air solely based on yelp reviews and his service location. All I…read moreneeded was to service or possibly replace an old wall furnace heater unit. Tom came to assess, said he could fix but seemed hesitant. Our house is old, we had an ugly old non working swamp cooler sitting on our roof w a big gaping hole in our hallway. We asked if he could work on the swamp cooler too which he said yes, but he actually suggested we consider upgrading to central heating and air. I laughed at that because I had a few quotes from others (central heating and air has been my dream since I bought this old freezing house). The quotes I received from a Costco partner was $50K! You read that right, $50,000. Another was $30k. As you can see w quotes like that my chuckle at Tom's suggestion of central heating and air was warranted. However, when I mentioned my previous quotes I think Tom might have laughed. He quoted us for the removal of the wall heater, swamp cooler, and a brand new central heating and air unit, not even 1/2 the price of one of the lowest quotes I'd received. We couldn't believe it. We jumped on it and his team got started a few days later. Watching them work together was literally a joy. Talk about team work! Always on time, clean and efficient, the job was done in a few days. I've lived in this house since 2009, and I no longer have to wear layers to bed. We're so happy with the service, the unit and even the cosmetic repairs on the roof where the ugly swamp cooler sat, and the hall where the wall heater was and the open rusted hole in the hall ceiling from the leaking swamp cooler shaft. Words cannot express my gratitude. It's the little things people take for granted as I never thought we would ever be able to afford central heating and air. Our plan was always to do some minor fixes so we could list our house for sale, but now I just think I want to stay here and love it a bit longer before we list it. Thank you Tom and team! We moved forward with the fix, and it worked fine, and then it didn't. After a few more visits, and some more parts and tinkering, it finally started working properly. Although it was a strange and difficult situation, they stuck to it until the problem was resolved. The techs Danny and Mark went above and beyond to make sure everything was good. Another thing to add, the way the company communicated back and forth with me was great. They answered every call and every text. Most of the time I spoke with Stacey and she was great. If you're looking for an honest and professional company, this is it.

Given her advanced age of 90, her discomfort with the warm air became increasingly pronounced. Today, in collaboration with my brother-in-law, we investigated the issue. We observed that while the unit appeared to be functioning, it was not producing cool air, despite the outdoor fan operating correctly. During our investigation, we contacted the service provider, Thomson. A representative stated that only the thermostat had been replaced and that a service technician could be dispatched for a fee of $159, suggesting a potential wiring issue. Upon reviewing the Honeywell thermostat instructions and wiring diagram, we identified that the thermostat had been incorrectly wired to the "W" terminal. After rectifying this wiring error, the air conditioning unit resumed normal operation, producing cool air. I subsequently contacted Thomson for clarification regarding the initial service. Their response repeatedly referenced a previous replacement 14 months prior. While their online reviews are predominantly five-star, our experience suggests a lack of professionalism. This incident raises concerns about the necessity of recommended services and the quality of workmanship, potentially indicating errors or intentional oversights during the initial installation.
