So dude and I came to visit our babies and this little gem popped up. Ms.Jayla took our order, loved her she was very loving and straightforward. It took a while for our order to come out but I'm thinking due to the transition from breakfast so be patient during those times. I got the fried salmon corn, brussel sprouts and mac. Dude got fried catfish, green beans, roasted potatoes, mac and a side of coconut shrimp. So our fish was very flavorful, I thought my salmon would be dry but it was fair and the sauce on side was a nice little balance. The mac was good very cheesy we enjoyed that. My favorite were those sprouts honey I wish I would've gotten two orders cause the corn wasn't the best. Overall this spot was pretty cool and I heard it be live!!!

Pra_Lees is tucked away on a side street away from the busy Gentilly St scene, across from Dillard University. This hidden gem is has a cozy, laid back atmosphere. There is a sense of nostalgia when you walk through the doors and hear old school R & B tunes with corresponding videos. The food is good and prices are reasonable. The service is accommodating and the staff is friendly. Food Review: Crawfish Mac - is very delicious, has plenty of crawfish mixed into the tender noodles with creamy cheese. It has a hint of smoke and seafood flavor that delights your tastebuds. Fried Lobster - lobster tail is huge! It was fried slightly darker than golden, but didn't take away from the moistness. The accompanying sweet dipping sauce, really makes the dish pop. Fried Shrimp - golden fried, good flavor, kind of tough but tasty. Garden Salad - fresh greens and veggies was really good. Cabbage - HORRIBLE! Tasted scorched and overcooked.

I pass by this restaurant all the time and finally decided to check it out. Pra lees exceeded expectations. I went for lunch. You choose a protein, an entree, and 2 vegetables. I chose the deep fried lobster tail, rasta pasta, Cajun corn and the salad. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The cashier was extremely nice and patient. The restaurant is a decent size. Not much parking but next time I'll dine in. I'm definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.

My experience was unforgettable. While I would purchase food from this restaurant in the future, I would only purchase a to-go order. The dine-in experience was horrible, but the lady taking our order was nice, and the food was delicious overall. The dine-in experience was more like an expensive food truck experience opposed to a normal dine-in restaurant experience. You have to prepay for your food, they don't have water on tap, and no drink is refillable. All drinks are in a can or bottle. All food comes in Styrofoam to-go containers, including $40 lambchop meals. The cutlery and napkins are those that you would find with cheap food truck meals. There were no knives, so I had to eat my lollipop lambchops with my hands. No one serves you at your table. They call your ticket number for you to come get your own food, so the 20% tip you give at the beginning is for nothing. The indoor seating is limited. The air conditioning available for indoor seating is strained. Therefore, it's hot as soon as the door is opened a few times in a row. It took 40 minutes for us to get our food, and we were seated by the door and the bathroom. Our experience included the smell of an unchecked restaurant bathroom and a lot of bodies crammed in a small space. We were being accidentally nudged by patrons waiting to order their food because the indoor dining space is so small. The music started off pleasant, and then they changed the playlist. It was so disgusting and vulgar that I had to leave because we had a child with us, but I personally have zero appreciation for that type of music, so I would have left either way. Despite the dining experience, the food was good overall. My critiques have to do with the styrofoam plating of a $40 meal and canned yams. This is below standard for a dine-in experience and quality of a meal. If a dish comes from the can, the patron shouldn't be able to tell. The lambchops and brussel sprouts were pretty good. They are both dishes that don't need heavy seasoning, and they seasoned them perfectly. The crawfish macaroni and cheese lacked crawfish. The crawfish were more like a topping than a part of a dish, but it was still good. The favorite dish at the table was the Rasta Pasta, though the shrimp were not gulf shrimp and were small. Everyone was pleased enough with the food to purchase a to-go order in the future, but not for $40.

I've waited a long time to try this place out and I finally got the chance and it is 5 star for sure! I ordered the fried salmon ( I was skeptical because I was worried it'd be dry.... It wasn't!!), Rasta pasta and double brussel sprouts (because Brussels are my fav!... and they didn't disappoint). My friend got the grilled lobster, Mac & crawfish, corn and broccoli. For dessert we got the praline loaf. We sampled off of each others plates The salmon was nothing short of amazing and it came with a sweet chili sauce that was a nice added flavor. I had some remoulade sauce at home and I tried it on the salmon and that was good as well. The brussel sprouts were just perfect! The Rasta pasta was different than what I expected it was made of spiral noodles, shrimp and Italian dressing. I was expecting a cream sauce with a jerk spicy seasoning. It was my least favorite but that's more so because I don't like Italian seasoning, if you like Italian you'll love it. The Mac & crawfish was good and creamy. On to the dessert the praline loaf was good. I'm not a sweets eater but I do love a praline. This was perfect it wasn't too sweet and was the perfect ending to the entrees we had. As far as customer service it was good. The cashier was very friendly and was able to answer all of our questions and make recommendations. We tried to call in our order before we arrived but no one ever answer the phone so we just showed up and the wait wasn't more than 15 mins. So not bad ! The restaurant is so nicely decorated the murals painted on the walls are so NOLA. I can't wait to go back. And I definitely recommend this place to others. Next time I'm trying the yellow rice and shrimp!

The establishment is beautiful on the inside, from the artwork to the seating. The food was meh. The chicken was over cooked and extremely hard to cut and chew . The potatoes will have your blood pressure higher than a kite.. Maybe I caught the cooks on a bad day.. but I will attempt again in hopes to have a better food experience.

We went today because we didn't feel like cooking. However, it was a great choice. It was a little hard to find though. Food: I got the beef wrap and crab rice. He got the chicken quesadilla. I loved the wrap. It was amazing. Portion size was good. Crab rice was good. It seemed to have cheese in it which was weird but it was still pretty good. Wish there was more crab meat in there. The quesadilla was good but the portion size was soooo small. It definitely wasn't enough. Also the wraps and things like that should come with fries or something. Pineapple lemonade was decent. It was pink lemonade with pineapple juice added. Staff: the young man at the register was so nice and helpful. He was very informative and attentive. He kept us update as to the status of our food. By far some of the best customer service I've had here. Interior: it was nice but small area. If it gets backed it will be difficult to enjoy the tv they have on and to sit comfortably. Parking: there's only 2 parking spaces and 1 handicap spaced Overall it was good and I'd come back again especially since it's in the neighborhood

Food was incredible!! Everything was good. Everything! The stuffed burger was so good. The meat is seasoned and then stuffed with goodness. It came dressed with tomatoes and I don't even eat tomatoes but I ate them that day. Burger was that good! Fried fish was seasoned and flavorful. And the batter doesn't come off like it does at some other places. Even the fries were great. They're kinda garlicky and delicious. The crab rice was delicious as well. Now it is a little warm inside and a fairly small space so I recommend getting your food to go. I'll definitely be back. My new favorite food spot!

The wings, mouth watering and absolutely amazing ! Pra_LEES is a hidden gem in New Orleans. While it is outside of the downtown tourist area but not far it's worth traveling to. The prices are great and the portion sizes are even better. The loaded crawfish fries, to die for. When I come back to New Orleans I will definitely be returning. read more

Really good food here the only reason I gave them a 4 out of 5 stars is because I came specifically for the crawfish and shrimp fries, but they didn't have crawfish today. Despite the fact that they had no crawfish, the shrimp loaded with cheese on the fries was amazing! It had a kick to it, so if you hate spicy foods then you may want to share with a friend. read more

So....I'm super pick about where I eat, but don't let the outside of this shop fool ya like it did me. Clean inside....you can see them cooking your food and preparing...decorated ok...and they even took my order 15 mins before closing and stood a few minutes later after closing. This is a small restaurant that does big business. The food was awesome and very tasty. Prices were a little higher than I'd like to pay, but I will be back! read more

Don't let the outside fool you. This place has amazing food with generous portions! It was Friday so I Got a seafood plate that included catfish, shrimp, pasta, corn, and salad. And everything was awesome! It was so good I didn't even remember to take a picture of my food smh. But i will next time i go! read more

I went over there to try to wings, and unfortunately they were out (I understand, I've work in restaurants), so I had crawfish fries instead. They were delicious. This place is a delight and hidden gem soon to be hidden no more because of their new location on Frenchmen! Can't wait to visit them there, but as for now, I'll enjoy that they are a mile away from my house. read more

I can't say enough about this spot. Took me a minute to find it but when I did... let me tell you, EVERYTHING is good. The owner is a very nice young man. I told him to give me anything and omg! It was the best salmon Ive had in years. Quaint spot. No fuss just good food and good people. Check out their Instagram page. It's worth the visit. read more

First time visiting here. The owner with the dreads was nice, he rung me up & gave the punch card then left. Whoever he has in the back making the food, the two young men..i don't think they know what they're doing. I ordered 3 tacos and waited 41 minutes! I know because I have the Chase app which tells me each time i make a transaction. When i finally got the food it wasn't what I was expecting. I'll probably come back again when the owner makes my food but that's horrible that I have to come on certain days. A lady before be also returned her food saying it didn't taste like usual. read more

My 1st experience here and it was awful! There was no one taking orders when we walked in, even though there was a line. 10mins later our order was taken, we waited 45 mins The guy behind the counter skipped my order and called the next one up When I inquired about my order after waiting 45 minutes I was told that there was no more salmon. I wasn't given the courtesy of being told this before or offered a solution afterwards. I got my money back I am not sure who is running the business side of things but they need to do better because my first experience will definitely be my last experience with this restaurant. read more

Service Sucks! When I place an order, I expect my food to be prepared; according to the instructions given! I don't eat pork, requested no bacon on my cajun ranch fries; of course there was bacon on my fries...because the cook didn't pay attention to my ticket. When I brought it to their attention, they fixed a new order of fries; but gave me my original shrimp quesadilla...and by this time, my quesadilla was cold. read more

They have GREAT food, but the wait time is VERY long. Came here on my lunch break and it took my whole hour to make three chicken tacos. The grill is very small. Just know ahead of time the wait time is extremely long. read more

I came all the way from New York, I ordered the Thursday special before my other two friends. My side order was asparagus and broccoli. My other two friends also had broccoli as a side order. The dark skinned guy come tell me outside while we're waiting for our food I have bad news for you I don't have broccoli for you, I have it for the other two girls. Mind you he took my order first. The tall dark skinned guy tells me it's the way the kitchen guy prepared the food which made no sense. Horrible customer service if someone orders the same thing before you their supposed to get it first. I was feening to go to the spot and try out their food I was very disappointed. The place was dirty and also their seafood had a fresh taste like it just came out the ocean. My friends also didn't enjoy the food. My friend shrimp was over cooked and salty they fried it too much. I wouldn't recommend this place to no one who is going to New Orleans. I honestly wouldn't even give this place a rating I have no choice that's the only way I can post my review. read more

The staff was friendly and most helpful when I was at the counter trying to decide what to select.

They gave him a fat bone filled ham hock with no meat or gristle or nothing and scrimped on the can greens they served us. The Mac was orange with no seasoning. The pork chops weren't fried. I assume they baked those they were like eating a plastic paper plate. The best part of the meal was the white rice. I also forgot he had fried cat filets, and he said they were good. Of course, I'm never going back. Smh

Top Hat is one of the very few places I'll order red beans outside my own kitchen. Amy went with the coleslaw, cornbread, stewed okra, and black-eyed peas. The star of the meal is the fried chicken. My family always used a flour wash, but Top Hat's breading is incredibly thin with just a hint of cornmeal. It isn't what I grew up eating, but man...it is good. Add a little of the table hot sauce and it gets me every single time. The sides are solid across the board. The black-eyed peas are perfect, and the stewed okra tastes like somebody's grandma was in the kitchen. If I could change one thing, I'd make the coleslaw a little crisper, chop it a bit finer, and give it another spoonful of mayo, a splash of malt vinegar, and just a pinch of sugar. But that's my preference, not a complaint. Don't overlook the catfish either. It doesn't play. They can get busy, and the service sometimes moves at the pace of an August stroll through the park. But honestly...that's part of the charm. Good Southern food isn't meant to be rushed, and neither is High Hat.
