Stopped here after a full day of traveling. It's convenient since it's in the hotel lobby, open late, and has a really Chic atmosphere. There were multiple servers throughout the evening helping us out. Most of them were quite friendly. I ordered a bowl of chicken and rice soup which was absolutely delicious. It came with a side roll which was wonderful! It was cheesy and chivey and the right amount of density and air. I was with a group, so we also ordered the bacon artichoke flatbread and the loaded chips. Both items came quickly to the table and were very tasty. If you're looking for a quick and tasty meal after a day of traveling, this is the place to come. read more

I'll start out with the staff as they are truly five stars. The host was very upbeat and friendly and the waitress was funny and welcoming. The ambiance is ok I mean it's in a hotel and nothing that is going to blow you away. It serves its purpose and is clean and well kept. The food is just average especially for the price. I never complain about the price of food when it's quality and something unique. This is just average food that you could get at any sports bar really. What a fabulous restaurant to have at the hotel! I was super tired and got in a bit late but thankfully they were still offering dinner. It was AMAZING! I had a beautiful plate of salmon, veggies, and salad. I also treated myself to some ice cream for dessert. Everything was perfect and I loved the seasoning on the salmon! So disappointing when the hotel only has one food option and at a busy work convention so it becomes the only real option for quick breakfast or lunch/dinner. All food was really awful. Had a few meals here with coworkers and salmon, soup, club wrap, chicken tender meal and breakfast were all tried by us and consensus on all food was the same. I don't know how oatmeal can be so messed up but it was. They served a massive bowl of oatmeal with a whisper of the seed mix and 5 blueberries and 6 slices of banana. I asked server for more blueberries and she brought out a couple more. She was clearly in a bad mood and won't call her out as her life might be hard but the service isn't doing any favors for the subpar food. Bartenders were nice enough and attentive enough at night but would stick to beer and wine over cocktails. Great service great food. Why three stars? Thats just wrong-Im giving 5stars. Its a hotel restaurant and it's definitely reasonably priced in that context and food and service is fabulous. I ordered a diet soda and the server was so excited to tell me they have diet Dr Pepper I just had to have one... she was awesome. I got the heirloom tomato soup- the spoonbread with butter was to die for. Flakey and herby. The soup was a little spicy byt comforting. Then I had the walleye fish sandwich( recommended by my server) and lovd it!!! Juicy and crispy with these lovely pickled onions. The brioche bread was light and fluffy rather than heavy and dence. I visited here several times during my stay at the hotel - a couple of times for breakfast, once for a private reception, once for dinner, and once for an Ale. Breakfast: One morning I had an omelette - with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheddar with a side of bacon. The omelette was well made and the bacon was delicious! The second morning I had a Brisket Hash - succulent chopped brisket intermingled with scrambled eggs and hash browns. Very rich and tasty! I had a wild rice soup one evening - hearty and filling! Good beer selection - I had a local craft beer from Surly Brewing Co., Minneapolis, MN. Service was always good. Ok guys, get it together. This is a beautiful property that charges a lot for food and beverage. The back bar is covered in dust. If you're going to have a bunch of knick knacks up to the ceiling, keep them clean! The bar service could be more polished as well. Asked what I wanted without offering a menu/wine list first. Then, my companion ordered a Bulliet Rye Manhattan and we watched her make a Manhattan with Maker's Mark. It was not stirred, shaken, or served with a stir stick. Then walked away without asking if we wanted any food. All while telling other patrons "I'll be right with you". It wasn't that busy. Or, the manager should step in and help during short rushes. I arrived at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for a conferemce and decided to stay in for the first night and try the Prairie Kitchen and Bar located inside the hotel.  I sat at the bar during their happy hour, which is daily from 4 - 6 pm.  All appetizers on their shorter list (not the dinner sheet, you need the book) are half off during happy hour. Service was not very prompt and the bartender seemed overly busy and disinterested in the patrons.  Once I got the menu I chose two starters -- the cheese curds and the BBQ chicken flatbread. Flatbread didn't have much bbq flavoring. It did have a pineapple pico/also that complimented what little bbq you did taste. The cheese curds were delicious and come with a side of ranch. Could definitely taste the beer in the batter and complimented the cheese well. Once the bill came, I was disappointed to see they did not give me the half off appetizers. After ringing up the bill, the bartender informed me they could not correct the bill but would offer me a voucher for a free appetizer. Since I'm staying for a few days, I said that would suffice. Second night in: I wandered down to the bar about 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. The bartender seemed more attentive than my previous visit and was friendlier. I ordered the Strauss grass fed beef burger topped with blue cheese and a side of fries.  You get to choose your cheese topping from Swiss, cheddar or blue cheese. Burger was supposed to have caramelized onions, but just had raw red onion and should have had an aioli, but it did not. Overall, decent burger, but a little pricey.  Also, Pepsi products only and be prepared to pay $4.50 for a glass of soda. They are very accommodating to give you a to-go glass of soda if you ask. read more

Service was fine. Place is clean. The music is loud and discordant to the decor. If you're staying at the Hyatt Regency, I suspect you can find better fare elsewhere. The food had a nice presentation, but the Rainbow trout entree with haricots vert was on a paste of sweetish goo. (I'm not sure what it was....potatoes maybe?) Everything had too much oil, including the beans which tasted like a greasy grill. The trout was light and well-cooked, but lacked seasoning. The highlight was the beer battered cheese curds. Overpriced, poor quality food and long wait for food as well. I had a burger that was hardly warm and not appetizing at all, coffee was about room temp. Located inside the Hyatt, this is a surprisingly fresh and modern take on Midwest cuisine. The atmosphere is so pretty, love the big lamps hanging from the ceiling and the casual clothing the servers wear, it feels very cowgirl/cowboy. The food is locally sourced and organic for many items on the menu. My friends loved that the menu had a choose your own salad option where you pick your greens, dressing, then three toppings. I tried the chicken sandwich with local "Nueske's" bacon and cheese, served on a pretzel bun. I opted to order the side of fries (it was $4 extra) that are bathed in garlic and rosemary. WOW, those fries! I don't love potatoes that much, but these were so good I finished them all. My lunch for just the sandwich and fries with tip was around $19, so it's a little bit fancier of a place to go for lunch, but worth it. Everything tasted so fresh an nicely prepared. The wings were absolutely fantastic! The amount is plentiful for one and will satisfy a pair to share! I got the maple barbecue wings which were recommended by the bartender and it was everything she promised! I hate to do this. The service was appalling when I went here. I would say don't waste your time until better service is in place. The place was near empty when I went, and yet I had to go to the bar to request my bread, butter and drink while I waited for my entrée because the server never came around, and when he did he completely ignored other tables around him who needed service. The table next to me actually went to nearby empty tables to grab empty plates and extra utensils after the server brought their appetizers the service was so bad. The only good service I got was when the general manager replaced the server and took care of my service for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, the one or two tables next to me weren't that lucky. The food itself is not bad - I would give it at least 3 stars. I do think this place has potential...but until service is significantly improved I just can't recommend this place. read more

The Great: + The bartender was friendly and she provided me with some bar snacks (pretzels, etc.) when I asked for some. + The servers were friendly during breakfast. The Average: o Quality of food was typical of a hotel restaurant/bar. o Typical prices for a hotel. o The steel cut oats were WAY overcooked, but the myriad of toppings was nice. o The breakfast quiche was average at best. The red onions and pepper sauce were not needed. The Poor: - The host guy was handling flatware at the station as I approached. He dropped a spoon, picked it up, and put it back in the drawer with the clean spoons. Real nice. read more

Whenever I go to MN, I make sure to stop at Prairie Kitchen & Bar for a drink and an appetizer. I know I'm guaranteed great food and service, as well as some fun and delicious drinks. We've been a few times this summer and their outside patio is a fantastic place to enjoy their Happy Hour in the nice weather. All of the servers we've had have been outstanding - on top of refills, checking in on us enough to make sure we were happy but not too often to annoy us, and they had great recommendations for food. The food is delicious - I can't even say what is my favorite - but I know I loved and devoured their fish and chips. If you're in the area, definitely stop in. read more

I waited close over 12 hours before posting this review to make sure I was just as dissatisfied the night after eating at this restaurant. We were at this restaurant (party of three) last night and it was awful. Our server was terrible. First, I received the wrong menu, second; the food took forever to appear and when it did it was not hot; third, we were never offered a drinks menu - I guess water was all our server was offering; fourth, our server never (I repeat never) came back to check on us. We waited a good twenty mins or so after we had eaten to see if she would return and she didn't. (She neglected her whole area. Other tables were looking for her too.) I had to go to another server and ask if there had been a shift change. I guess the person in charge them went and got our server so we could cash out. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'm staying at this hotel for another 2 nights and I'd rather go outside in the cold weather than risk getting another inattentive server who cares little about her customers, their food, or their overall dining experience. read more

We sampled 4 of their desserts all of which were presented well and tasted sweet. The chocolate mousse was our favorite. It was rich and creamy. We sat on the patio for happy hour, which is mentioned on their website without details. The inside is a really nice remodel from the old TAXI bar. The outside could use a few more accouterments, it was a bit sparse. Maybe some fronds :). The happy hour, which covered beer and wine, I won't mention the prices but they were a pretty good discount from the high regular prices listed. I ate lunch here in between a conference I was attending at the convention center and the food was pretty good. The service was quick and nice and the space was very quaint. I had the butternut squash soup and the salmon BLT minus the bacon. The soup was creamy and hearty with a bit of crunch from the candied walnuts on top. After being in a well air conditioned conference all morning this was just what my body needed! To go with my soup I split the salmon BLT with a friend. The salmon was smoked very well and was topped with a fried egg. I imagine bacon lovers would love the combination with bacon but I loved it just fine without. The meal was a perfect sized lunch and priced fairly reasonably for where we were eating, although more than what I would normally spend on a soup and half a sandwich for lunch. read more

Not a bad hotel restaurant. It seems like they really pride themselves in being natural and healthy ("grass fed" meat, "cage free" eggs). If you try to eat food that fit into this category, you will have many options. I've had their pancakes (no topics) with bacon. Very yummy!! I've also had their bison burger.
