So I really wanted to like this place but didn't. The server was really polite and friendly but we ordered two salads and cheese curds and waited over 30 minutes for our food. We watched people who were seated and ordered after us, get their food before us, with full entrees. We had to ask twice where our food was. The salad was fine and a good size but the cheese curds disappointed me (I'm a Wisconsinite originally so I have high standards) but they were a lot of breading and not much cheese. They were also strangely oily and soft like they hadn't been cooked long enough or at the right tempt to make them crispier outside. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, lacked is spice, minimum flavor, heavy on the slaw which was tasty. The French Fries were good, hot and slightly seasoned. To drink, St. Paul's Summit Extra Pale Ale, crisp and refreshing. The waitstaff and bartender service is better than the food. The atmosphere is bustling, social type vibes and comfortable. Ten 01 Social is the only restaurant in the Hilton Minneapolis Hotel. My friend and I stopped by really close to the kitchen closing but thankfully they allowed us to put in our orders last minute. Our server was great. He was very friendly and personable. We ordered: -BLACK BEAN BURGER: The burger was pretty good with a nice amount of toppings. We did get fries on the side (just please note that it is an extra $5 which is a bit steep; however, the fries were very tasty). -CHICKEN AND WILD RICE SOUP: The soup was a bit on the watery side for a cream based soup and quite bland. The chicken was also very dry. The portion though was quite large. But I would skip this in the future. All in all, while service was great the food was a bit hit and miss. read more

We came here to have an early dinner, and we ordered: +the Turkey Burger - with a honey poblano glaze, white cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and a beef patty in a brioche bun; we ordered unseasoned fries with this instead of the housemade chips +the Ten 01 Burger - with Eichten's white cheddar, grain mustard aioli, crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles in a brioche bun; I substituted for a black bean patty (which was for no additional charge, which I thought was interesting!); I opted for the housemade chips The burger themselves were just okay; the black bean patty had a weird off taste to it and seemed to have been overcooked, as it was just dry and very bland. I didn't taste any of the grain mustard aioli, so not sure if they totally missed it or you'd have to request extra. The housemade chips were thick, but it seemed as most were a bit 'soggy' and kind of on the stale end. Staff were pretty kind and checked in on us often; there were plenty of seats in the front and back of the restaurant and lounge. The bartenders are happy to create a customized drink for you, and the bar is open late for post drinks. Beautiful hotel conveniently located across from my Airbnb. Nice bar ,staff is friendly but service is horrible. This is my second time here and each time I've came in here mind you I'm visiting from New York, each time I come in here. I sit here and I wait about 20 minutes for someone to even recognize that I'm sitting here or waiting for either water or service or for someone to take my order. It's absolutely horrible. Expensive--but you are a captive audience at a hotel so you should know it going to be! I needed to fill my belly and catch a plane so I partook and I can say that it was pretty decent. They had some tasty yogurt with chia seeds, waffles (with what they called maple syrup but of course it was not--but should have been at that price), eggs, assorted meats (but no turkey sausage or turkey bacon!!!) fruit, breads, bagels and pretty much anything you could want. Beverages were included. Their idea of tea was terrible--the brand of teabags they used was weak, weaker than Lipton if you can imagine that. Service was very friendly, attentive, and timely. I got the salad with steak . The coffee wasn't bad . I think it's a good place to bring business meetings to if you're at the convention center, we there aren't many options around. This is a pretty basic hotel lobby restaurant. The food was "a-ok", meaning there was nothing I'd go back for. We got the charcuterie, which was a big disappointment, the watercress salad, the chicken wings and the flatbread. Everything was just ok. The flatbread was probably the best thing we tried, but nothing special really. The reason I'm giving them a 3 instead of a 2 star rating is because the service was great. Our waitress was attentive and sensed we weren't thrilled about the food so went above and beyond to make it up to us... with a free appetizer. That was really considerate and generous. I don't know where to start really. My experience began by waiting for 10 minutes to be sat, standing by the sign that read "please wait to be seated" I finally had to go to the front desk to ask if they were serving dinner in which I was told "of course!" I went back to the area I waited at and was finally seated in the bar area, which worked for me. I then waited another 10 minutes for my server and finally asked the hostess if I could get a glass of wine. She went into the kitchen and alas, 4 servers came right out, seemingly oblivious there were guests waiting to be served, at 6:30 pm! So, unfortunately it doesn't get much better...I ordered the braised short ribs, one of my favorite dishes. To my dismay this dish was completely overcooked and dried out. There was a small amount of Demi glaze, although I'm not sure there would ever be enough sauce to help this dish! Sadly, I sipped my wine, nibbled at my short ribs and got the check feeling disappointed. Oh well, at least I tried! I was here for the Bouchercon mystery writers convention. I always have dinner at the hotel the first night which was Thurs. I got the meatloaf and it was a solid brick with barbeque sauce, delicious. Basil's steak was perfectly cooked. I didn't care for the brussel sprouts, they're usually a hit or miss wherever you go Mashed potato had the sauce on too. We shared a decent Caesar salad. The iced tea is killer and they are always there with a refill. Apple bread pudding was kind of bland, Basil loved it of course. Friday breakfast corned beef hash was different as it was solid chunks, nothing really hashed. I ate half and brought the rest home. They don't butter the toast. Saturday lunch, full menu, but we settled for the angus burger and the royale with cheese. The dressing had an odd after taste on the royale and the fries were limp. Burger and bun were really good. We shared the wild rice soup which is wonderful. Iced tea of course. Saturday dinner, special menu since they were short a cook. It gave us a chance to sample apps and salads. Started with a different kind of hummus, it's loaded, pita was warm, a good choice. Next was a loaded Greek salad with a very good dressing. Plenty of feta and olives. Italian sausage flatbread was delicious and had a nice red sauce. The service from Matt was stellar and it was super busy. Standard hotel restaurant. Good service and food was good. Prices are as you would expect - a bit higher than for a comparable restaurant elsewhere for the quality and ambiance. Basically this is probably a 3ish rating but I gave them a 4 because they did nothing wrong. They served me with attention, they understood my gluten free needs. The even offered me gluten free bread which shows they are prepared. But unless you are staying in the hotel, I cannot think of a reason to suggest coming here instead of another restaurant in the area. read more

I stayed at the Hilton this weekend for INELDA's death doula group, and most of my meals were in the bar(same menu as the restaurant for the most part), I had the same server the whole time, Erik you were diligent and wonderful! I went to the bar last night for a dessert and nightcap and Alicia and Matt were my bartenders, Matt helped fashion me a custom drink which was really fun and nice(can't go wrong with saint Germaine), and Alicia was warm and kind and helped make my experience perfect. The look of the restaurant is so nice we had high hopes to make this one of our new business lunch spots. As we walked up to the host stand, the host and server walked away so we had to stand there until we finally asked a waitress to get the host. After ordering it took 30 minutes to get two bowls of soup, two salads, and one 2-item charcuterie tray. The salad was too bitter to eat, the bison sausage was to dry to cut with a fork, the soup was lukewarm, and the portions were incredibly small. We all left hungry. We were there 11:30-1 on a weekday and there were no more than 4 tables of people the entire time so I can't even suggest the slow service was because of a lunchtime rush. Nice place! The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good for the price. The restaurant really focused on excellent service. Breakfast is delicious, dinner is also very good. Bread costs extra, but it is good bread so somewhat worth it. I give it 4/5 for value and quality of service. Minus 1 star for not understanding how much wine should be in one glass and how much wine should be in 1.5 glasses. This is mainly an issue at the bar - the staff tried to say that a small glass filled 3/4 of the way is "1.5 glasses" except the night before it came in a small carafe and did equal 1.5 glasses. My friend and I went to have dinner before our show at Orchestra Hall. I planned 2.5 hours for dinner, because I've always had poor service there. We would have gone to eat elsewhere, but it was very cold out and a weekend, and it was the only place with guaranteed skyway access, so we wouldn't have to go outside. Our waitress was sweet and charming, but terrible at her job. We were the first ones in the dining room, at 5:30. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks, and there were about 5 other people in the bar. While we waited for our appetizer, about 50 other diners arrived. The line at the host station was terrible for a while--20 people in line at a time! They looked very annoyed. After we saw every other table get appetizers or entrees (they had different servers), AND finish, I asked the host for assistance. I told him that we still hadn't received our appetizer. The waitress finally returned and told us that another table got our appetizer. She finally brought out our appetizer, after one hour (!) and it was cold. Someone else brought it back to the kitchen for us. Our entree arrived cold as well, after another 30 minutes. Now we'd been there for 1.5 hours, and had only had one bite of bread and one bite of our entree. Someone else came back to our table with our appetizer, which was warmer, but not hot. We ordered a burger instead of our wild boar pasta. I'd seen others get burgers quickly, and I didn't want to miss the beginning of our show. The burger arrived lukewarm, but we ate it. Another woman, who had a different server, actually got up and went INTO the kitchen to find her server. Wow--terrible. The manager stopped by twice, near the end of the 2.5 hours, and apologized. I appreciate the apology, and the fact that they comped our meal, but I would have rather had the food come out in a timely manner, hot, and paid full price. I'm so disappointed that things haven't changed here. They may have updated the decor, but the service is still terrible. read more

Wow...best room service that I have ever had, and I don't say that lightly. I travel for work, so I can speak from lots of experience. I should have taken a picture. I had the smoked pepper and tomato soup...was nice and hot and delicious...and the grilled steelhead with Peruvian potato and roasted cauliflower. There was also some delicious broccoli rabe on my plate. Everything was cooked perfectly and arrived at the right temperature. The steelhead had a great charred skin, and was perfectly cooked underneath...not overdone, which was what I've come to expect from room service, and in general too many restaurants. I am very very pleasantly surprised, and now can't wait to order tomorrow night. Nice work chef. read more

We had dinner at TEN 01 SOCIAL on July 13th and cannot remember having a worse meal. The $27 walleye was severely over cooked and tasted like a salt lick. The asparagus was old, yellow, and rubbery. We politely mentioned our disappointment about the meal to our server, and since the woman at the table next to us had complained about her tough and inedible lamb, the server suggested we speak to the manager. When the manager came over and we explained about the meal, he said we should have mentioned this at the beginning of the meal, but it was too late now. Plus he said he had walked around the restaurant and no one else had complained. Even though we had been polite and respectful, we were made to feel it was our fault for not saying something sooner. There are some excellent restaurants in the area, and we would suggest evening diners choose any of them rather than TEN 01 SOCIAL. A one star rating is generous. read more

This is a great brunch place - def the best hotel food I've had. I had "toad-in-a-hole," which was eggs on toast, but they added avocado and tomatoes (maybe some other stuff, but my palate isn't nearly refined enough to pick that up, just enough to enjoy it!) On the pricier side, but no big surprises. It's just the usual price points for a hotel menu with a much higher standard for food quality. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the layout is cozy. What makes this five stars, though, is the service. I've never had such attentive waitstaff - they were so kind! They really seem like they care about your experience. I noticed that Ten 01 had the toppings I wanted so I called to ask if they could put something together for me. The manager was very accommodating and told me it wouldn't be a problem at all. On top of that, I told them I was in a bit of a hurry and had to leave for work soon. He said they would have it ready in 15 minutes and it only took them 10. And the salad was GREAT! The steak came on a bed of "fingerlings" (potatoes), which was odd in the first place and made it difficult to cut. The potatoes were terrible- it tasted like they made them that morning for breakfast and reheated them. The steak was OK, but way too salty even when I scraped the seasoning off. read more
