I LOVE tiki bars!! Never heard of Vern's until my friends invited me out. I don't think I would have ever found it just adventuring alone as it's in an Alley & it's not always the safest to wander in alleys at night in this area. The place itself is smaller but cute. The seating options aren't the greatest as the chairs aren't very comfortable. They have a couple booths which might be better. Most of the drinks come in cute tiki themed cups, which I love. I got the Chi Chi & it was pretty topical. My friends ordered the appetizer sampler, which I didn't partake, it looked just okay though. Overall limited food menu & nothing seemed to stand out to me. The waitress was nice & offered us Miami Vice shots, which was good! I seen they have karaoke nights on Thursdays which is cool. Not sure if I'd be back but again, I do love a tiki bar!!

The atmosphere of the tiki bar was great. Makes you feel like you are on vacation and is a nice little getaway. Located in the back of Public Domain. I ordered the Hawaii sunset cocktail which was great as well as the sweet potatoes fries with garlic aioli sauce. Service was great on a sunday evening and was not busy.

Such a cool space in the back of Public Domain! Great Tiki drinks ( a few slushies on tap as well)! Would definitely recommend for some high quality tiki drinks! Looking forward to coming back!

Three dots and a dash on the left. Pain killer on the left.

I think it was perfect during happy hour and then could turn off when the dancing started. Food: The jerk chicken egg rolls were huge and had great flavor. Also enjoyed the little sliders. The meat on the skewers was a super weird texture like almost a mushy bite maybe it was like a vegan meat I wasn't sure. The service at the bar was a bit slow at times there was two back there but the staff worked really hard at the end as the party went late and the staff was awesome cleaning up around us til the last minute so thanks for that!!! I liked the rum punch I had and the back space looked small but still fit a Photo Booth, the food table and dj table

We went back today and while it was still good, definitely wasn't as good as it was last time. The jerk chicken plate removed the beans, changed the rice, and got rid of the sauce so it wasn't as good though it was a bit less dry than last time. They also removed the Ropa Vieja from the menu which was our favorite. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and was not impressed. The fries with it were good. The drinks were still great. Service was friendly but slow (drinks, food, and waitress all slow). Another in our party got the blackened salmon which was really good. Unfortunately, I was so nervous they would remove or change the menu to be worse, which is a common theme I've noticed with 4 different restaurants by these owners now, so I was so bummed to see that's exactly what happened. Such a cool vibe, great drinks, and a really cool new patio - but the food needs a bit of work - bring back the Ropa Vieja and the better jerk chicken!

A friend invited me to check out Public Domain, so I absolutely couldn't say no!…read more Located on the busy Washington Ave, in the heart of the North Loop, paid, street parking is your best shot but be prepared to drive around a bit and maybe have a walk! The interior of the space is elevated, with a mix of modern and retro aesthetic! A large bar dominates the space, but there are booths and tables available for slightly larger parties. The dim lighting and upscale ambiance make this perfect spot for a date night or casual meet up with friends before a show. Public Domain has no menu, but instead you tell the bartender your favorite drinks, styles, flavors, etc and they build a cocktail for you! I loved the adventure and both of my drinks were spot-on with my desires! It was clear the bartenders are experts at their craft and care a lot about understanding you and what you like! This is not a one size fits all establishment! During this visit, there was also a kitchen pop-up serving some of the best Asian-inspired fusion items including dumpling ravioli, a Korean fried chicken sandwich, and a secret menu hot dog. These made for the perfect pairings to our yummy drinks! I can't wait to come back and try out more cocktails!

Even if there's no seating readily available, put yourself on the wait list! It is worth the short wait! HIGHLY recommend and will definitely be back for more!

We came on a busy Sunday evening, Memorial Day Weekend, and put our name down for a table. We were told it would be a responsible 25-30 minute wait. A wait that only ended up being about 15 minutes. We were seated at a table right next to the water which we loved. Very promptly greeted by our server, Julie, who was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable to the menu, made plenty of recommendations, and was very humorous making the visit even better. Started with the Loaded Nachos which were HUGE. They were piled high with all the goodies, plenty of queso, crispy chips, and extremely fresh ingredients. At first I was turned off by the $22 price tag but the size is actually a great value and they are perfect for probably 6-8 to share as an app or 2-4 to share as an entree. You can pop tan extra $10 for brisket, we just stuck with the ground beef. I also got the Stacked Club Sandwich which, again, was a massive portion. The deli meat tasted like it was freshly sliced and had a nice flavor. The lettuce and tomato were also very fresh tasting. This a perfect spot to stop and take in some sun, have a few drinks, and a bite to eat, all while enjoying stunning views of the lake.

There is paid parking all around this place but is typically under $5.(as of the posting of the review) We had reservations and were seating right away. Our server was Seth and he was WONDERFUL!!! Like picture the best server you could ever have, and that was Seth! Great recommendations, checked in on us throughout our time there but didn't linger, brought water right away! He was just an absolute delight! The food here was delicious!! We started with the butter board, that is a MUST! The butters were all flavorful! We only wish they had a little bit more bread! The lemongrass wings had EXCELLENT flavor, a spice that does linger (so if you don't do well with spice, there are not for you) they were a little soggy. Wish they had been crunchy! The steak bites were perfection! No notes! The chimichurri tasted so good with the char in the steak! The wild mushroom fettuccine is a must if you like homemade noodles with a fresh sauce! Comfort on a plate! Everything was so good, we decided to get the Affogodo and Chocolate moose cake! Both were terrific! The chocolate moose cake was moist and wasn't too rich, the toasted pistachios added and extra crunch that is not to be missed! The affododo was smooth, and paired so well with the vanilla ice cream! This place has a larger patio area that overlooks a brick street and Minneapolis skyline! Definitely could be a romantic spot for a date! This place was wonderful and we will happily be back!

I ordered a drink that ended up not being up to par, and he kindly offered to switch it to something else with grace and class, without making me feel badly for asking this. This goes to show the caliber of this long standing institution. Customers are treated well and are respected here. Our snacks from the menu were delicious and perfectly sized. The shrimp cocktail was made well. The lamb meatballs were flavorful and hearty. My Hemingway Daquiri was refreshing without being too liquor forward. Love all the Luxardo drinks on the menu! We will definitely be back!
