I may have to become chummy with the 73 bus (which runs from Harvard Square and stops right in front of this place) from now on because I was so impressed with Praline. It's a really tiny bakery with about 4 stools facing the floor-to-ceiling windows, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I tried a coffee cake, hazelnut mille-feuille, and some macarons. The crispy pastry between layers of hazelnutty cream was seriously out of this world amazing. The pastry chef said that the hazelnut flavor is only available on weekends (the regular is vanilla) so I'm glad I came on a Saturday morning. I love hazelnut flavored everything, so of course my favorite macaron was the praline. I have to say that the macarons that I had here were the best I've tried in Boston, comparable to Laduree in New York. All of them have a strong flavor, bright color (great for the Insta hah), and actually taste like the flavors they're named after. Everything was delicious and priced like the other bakeries I've been to in Boston. So I guess that's expensive considering Praline is in Belmont, but I'm willing to travel and pay for good quality. The shop itself is so charming with green walls, and Tiffany's-colored plates. I will need to come back and try the chocolates. read more

My wife heard about this place from her French friends. She's been in there when some Parisians were on their way back to Paris and stopped here for macaroons they said were better than home. Amazing pastries, macaroons. Favorite place for coffee now in Belmont. The ham and cheese crepe.... Best I've had in the states. Delicious French pastries! A family owned and operated business, the customer service is wonderful, with each coffee freshly brewed. We had a rich and creamy cappuccino to drink and a raspberry passion fruit tart, lemon macaron, passion fruit mango macaron, chocolate croissant, and an eclair. The fruit tart and passion fruit mango macaron are must haves! The family is from France, and my boyfriend and I were so pleased to find a French bakery and coffeehouse so close. The seating leaves a little to be desired, but the ambience and display is so perfect! The pastries tend to sell out by the end of the day so go early to get your favorite dessert. I recently moved into the area and have been searching for "My Coffee Place". I went into Praline unsure of what to expect- all I could see from the store front was a large (and gorgeous) selection of macaroons and some pastry. I ventured in, and boy, am I glad I did! First of all, you have to try the macarons. Seriously. I don't even like them normally, but holy crap. As the baker's husband said, "you must try them. My wife...she does something different. I promise you they are the best you will ever have. And you will never find any others that are similar to what my beautiful wife can make! She's a magician." And yeah. He's totally right. After trying the pistachio macaron, I have to agree she must have gone to Hogwarts Culinary School. But I digress. I was searching for coffee. And I found it. I wasn't sure it would be (could be?) as delicious as the macarons, the pride of the cafe. But I ordered a simple iced coffee to give it a shot, and I'm addicted. The roast they use is full-bodied, nutty, well balanced...not your average quickie coffee. As if that isn't enough, they have hard-to-find beverages like Jones Soda, and these really tasty flavored water drinks (lilac grapefruit, geranium pomegranate, lavender jasmine...). They also have an entire wall of tea (with quirky names like "Sexy Tea") in gorgeous (and funky) neon-and-gold decorated tins. Perfect for gifts or for a fun self indulgence. I'm convinced they must be a family of baking and percolating wizards, and I have absolutely no problem falling under their spell. I placed an order for mini financiers (almond flavored tea cake) for a tea party themed bridal shower I hosted in July 2016, and Sophie and her team went above and beyond to ensure I had the cakes in time. The tea cakes, themselves were delectable! Some of the most authentic French pastries and cakes I have tried in a while. Sophie also imports many of her ingredients from France and Italy. The shop is very quaint and has a European feel. Definitely a hidden gem in Belmont! I also was able to sample a few of their delicious macaroons while they packaged my order. What an amazing French bakery! The Caneles were simply the best I've ever had. The Macarons were perfect. The elephant ears were perfectly buttery and delightful. I also tried a hazelnut mille-feuille for the first time and was just blown away. Literally everything I have tried here has been perfect. They make just about everything in house and you can taste the difference. The coffee was pretty good as well and they sell a great selection of French artisinal teas. I just ate a chausson aux pommes (they call it an apple turnover, but it is a real chausson aux pommes) and it was an experience right out of Proust: I'm back in the courtyard of my long-ago school in Paris, on a cool rainy morning, holding hot pastry in my hands as a mid-morning snack between math class and music. Pastry buttery and flaky and crisp; filling rich and soft. Oh yum. My kid's pain au chocolat looked pretty great, too. (He did not offer to share, which tells you he liked it!) And the proprietor gave us a sample of the chocolate covered orange peel and it was wonderful--rich and dense and tangy. We didn't sample everything in the shop because the human body can only take so much pleasure at one time. So we'll be back soon. read more

The eclair was the best I've had, the cream was delicious and the pastry had a crunch on it which made it a perfect combo. I only wish they had more seating only had 4 chairs not much space. My daughter is a student in Boston and we live in Los Angeles. I looked on yelp and found this bakery to deliver something for my daughter's birthday. My daughter and her friends really enjoyed the macaroons and said they were delicious. They lived all the flavors and a dozen was great. She didn't receive all of the pastries that I ordered though and I notified the owner the following day. They responded immediately and professionally and not only refunded the cost of the pastries they didn't deliver, but also refunded the delivery fee. Mistakes can happen and it was great that they were so prompt in rectifying the situation. Ill definitely use them again and my daughter is planing to visit the bakery too. read more

Lovely small bakery that serves coffee. Went there with a friend last week. We wanted coffee and a chance to sit down and catch up. I can't say anything about the pastries, which looked great. But I can say that the coffee was way below par. My friend's Americano was too diluted with at least 50% more water than necessary. He couldn't drink it. He warned me, so I asked the person behind the counter to cut back on the water. Strength was right, but the flavor was acidic and not rich. Good coffee begins with good beans. These were not!!! Disappointing experience. A little training of the staff in the art of coffee making and better beans could go a long way. read more

Such a gem hidden away on Belmont st. This cute little bakery specializes in french macarons (which are totally gluten free by the way) and they have quite a variety. Their macaron case is just a rainbow of colors and flavors! They have a small selection of coffee, tea, and other pastries as which are also very tasty. They must do most of their business catering for parties or something because when I went it was very quiet and they have no seating- just two standing tables by the windows. The server was very polite and patient as we deliberated on which flavors to choose. Overall it's a charming shop that is more certainly worth a visit. read more

I got a box of assorted pastries, the almond croissant and apple turnover were amazing. They are stunning and the owner put them in the box in a beautiful design. What I saw was a gleaming espresso machine and croissants. Oh, boy! Adore the butter croissants, canelle and pretty little desserts. My boyfriend and I grab one or two little desserts (opera, pear & choc., fruit tarts, choc anything, macaron etc.) when we are celebrating. He loves the taste and I love that they look so pretty and they are small enough we can sample a couple different things.. We both love that we can quickly spruce up a simple weeknight meal into a celebration without breaking the bank. WISH they had seating though!! (they do have 2 tables you can stand at..) Many mornings I think "maybe I should just drive to praline for breakfast".. but I limit it to days when I'm picking up something else because I prefer to sit for coffee. Disappointing based on croissants. Layers were not laminated nicely - (1) did not taste buttery enough (2) kind of cakey/ bready. Not flaky at all. They are huge, too - maybe a bit too big.
