    Tasty momos! The beef jhol and pan fried mokos were both delicious. Hope to try more of the menu because it all looks good and well priced. Even a backyard!

    A very interesting and pleasant dining experience with a friendly proprietor. The thali was similar to what one would find at an Indian restaurant but the fried pork momos was a surprise and definitely a bit. Super crispy on the outside but packed with juicy pork filling and topped with a very rich and sized chili sauce. The butter tea was my favorite, salty, creamy, it pair great with the dishes

    This is a very cute restaurant in Sunnyside that lets you try out many different types of dishes from Nepal. I enjoyed my spice chai as well as the chili Momo's. The appetizer dishes were really good. I had one that was essentially roasted soy beans and a crunchy noodle salad. My only warning to you is that these do not translate well if you have any left over. They do not reheat and do not have the same type of crunch. I would suggest just finishing the whole dish instead of trying to bring it home. The prices were really affordable and the staff in there were very friendly.

    Minor side note: Nepalese food and Himalayan food in general tends to be less spiced compared to Indian food so in general, dishes such as biryanis or spiced potatoes/aloo masala tend to be less flavorful even in better spots such as this. Go with the more dried meat dishes such as sukuti or choila if you really want to try what Nepalese food is really about unless you don't mind a less spiced biryani for instance. Anyway, I went here a good while ago back in November with a large group. You can basically ditto what was said by Andie as I was at that dinner so instead of repeating what she said months ago, you can go by her review (link here https://www.yelp.com/biz/spicy-nepal-queens-2?hrid=EdI9lq6i151SJYDPt0ktjA .) Staff was friendly and as noted they gave us some freebie veggie pakora which were excellent. Best of the night were the Beef Sukuti, Chicken Choila, and the Kothey Pork Momos. Particularly good versions of all these three dishes and the spice level was on point. The momos were a bit different than normal with a slightly burnt bottom though not overly so almost reminding me a bit of how Shanghainese spots make their dumplings as it has a better texture. The Sekuwa was also tasty with the potatoes also being very flavorful though the other meat dishes as said had better portions. Our other dishes as said were the Wai-Wai and Bhatmas Sandeko, the Goat Dhindo, and the Goat Biryani. The rest of the group had never had dhindo before and while it's not my favorite thing in terms of texture, I do love the sourness of the dish. Tasty spot with friendly staff. Hopefully they stay in business even if they are a bit out of the way.

    I heard about this place from word of mouth. Once I walked in, I saw so many people roaming around and sitting down at random tables. There's a back garden/ patio that you can use. I don't know if the employee was ushering us to sit outside in the rain and cold or if she thought we wanted to sit there. There was definitely a language barrier. I was very confused. Anyway, I definitely mixed up who was a customer and who was the server. I asked someone if she worked there because she seemed to be taking orders and giving out the food. But apparently, she was just helping out her group and being a host to them. Our server wasn't introduced to us until much later. Regarding the food, we had to look it up ourselves on Google. We decided on what we wanted by pictures online and from what we knew. Also, a group near us ordered a particular dish, so we got that too. We got the momos, and it comes steamed, deep fried, pan fried, etc. Got it steamed in chicken and used their sauces to flavor it. The wai wai sandeko was uncooked noodles or dried noodles with veggies, and it had a bit of a kick to it. The beef thali was alright. I wasn't used to eating food in this manner. The food was good for two people. We were stuffed afterward.

    Love, Love, Love this Nepalese restaurant! I very rarely write a review immediately after returning home from dinner, but I just wanted to get the word out so everyone can GO! I'm actually shocked that there haven't been more reviews for this place since it's been open for a few months. Tonight, 10 of us went to Spicy Nepal for dinner. There weren't too many people dining this night. It may be because it was raining heavily tonight, but that didn't stop us! lol This isn't a fancy restaurant but the food speaks for itself. They have a lovely outdoor dining area in their garden area but that wasn't an option on this rainy evening. Service and hospitality were terrific; very warm and welcoming. They even gave my group complimentary Veg Pakora Appetizers! Their menu is full of many interesting items. Here is our menu tonight (shared by 5 ppl): APPETIZERS: - Veg Pakora (complimentary-thank you!!): these Pakoras were fresh out of the oil and very good. It came with two sauces; one spicy and another milder. Both complimented the Pakoras nicely. - Wai-Wai Sandeko ($6.95): this is kinda like a dry noodle chat. Tasty and addictive! - Kothey Pork Momos ($10.95/8 pcs): These Momos are among the best I've been had. The pork filling was plentiful and well seasoned. Just delicious. Get These!! - Bhatmas Sandeko ($7.95): this is kinda like a dry soy bean chat. Very good! MAINS: - Lamb Sekuwa (15.95): this dish was so flavorful and delicious. My only complaint is is that there wasn't a lot of lamb. - Beef Sukuti ($15.95): The dry beef is more of a jerky type meat. Great flavor but the texture of the meat is hard; great dish nonetheless. - Chicken Choila ($13.95): This was probably the meatiest dish we had. Generous portion of chicken; delicious and flavorful. Recommended! - Dhindo w.Goat ($15.95): Hands down, this is the most unusual dish! Everyone had two questions: "what is this?!?!" and "how do we eat this?!?!". LOL!! Dhindo is essentially a simple mixture of hot water and ground grain. At Spicy Nepal, it came with a bunch of sides: goat curry, veg, sauces and a tiny Gulab Jamun dessert. Honestly, the Dhindo itself tasted bland, but once you put the accompaniment on it, it was Delicious! I wouldn't order this as my only entree but definitely great to try with others. - Goat Biryani ($16.95): the flavors were much milder than your usual Indian Biryani, but still a tasty biryani; albeit not much meat in it. All in all, a fantastic meal! We're already plotting a return trip so that we can try other menu items. Also, see my photos for a 10% discount!

    Calling all spicy food lovers - head to Spicy Nepal ASAP. Continuing our Nepalese food tour in Sunnyside, we finally tried Spicy Nepal and it did not disappoint, especially in the heat department. We ordered the Bhatamas Saandeko (fried soy beans - wow!), Vegetable Pakora, Chili Chicken Momo, and the Fish Thali. All were perfectly spicy and had lots of flavor. We definitely put that Mango Lassi to good use b/c there were a lot of sniffles. The location (39-35 47th Ave) is tucked away, so I'm bummed that they're almost always empty when I pass by. Hoping more people will give them a shot b/c I certainly will! The prices are also pretty reasonable.

    This spot just opened today and I had the pleasure of getting to check out their menu offerings buffet style. HOLY MOLY WAS EVERYTHING DELICIOUS. Lots of delicious traditional Nepalese/Tibetan flavors with tons of options for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Highlights for me included their chicken momos, their chili chicken, vegetable daal curry and their yummy noodles. They also have a housemade spicy peanut butter sauce that very much lives up to their name and packs a punch - but I would also slather it on basically everything because it's so good. The ambiance is really bright and nice. Service was fantastic and you really get the sense that they take great pride in their restaurant (which makes sense cuz yanno...they're new lol). Beautiful outdoor patio that I wasn't expecting would be so nice. I heard it used to be purely used for storage by the previous tenant and so they completely redid the floors and completely elevated it into a really nice outdoor space (I uploaded a video so you can see it for yourselves). I already can't wait to return. Definitely check this spot in if you're in the area.

    What a great cozy restaurant with high quality food and amazing flavors! The service was great and the dishes that we tried were all incredible - definitely recommend the chili momos if you enjoy a little spice, and the butter chicken was so creamy and homey. Also tried the grilled salmon platter which came with some noodles and vegetables and loved that as well. Would definitely love to go back and try other dishes here!

    Excellent Nepalese food in Sunnyside! We ordered the chicken chow mein (very flavorful), khoji momos and beef curry (so tender). The owners were very nice, welcoming and attentive. The back patio is lovely when the weather is nice. We'll be back!

    Preface this by saying I'm a vegetarian! I was so excited to try this spot :) So I ordered the veggie Thali... in all honesty, the food was pretty bland for my taste. I wish it wasn't the case, so I kept dousing the dishes in salt, but that didn't help much. The daal especially just lacked salt or spices. Maybe I'm naturally comparing Nepalese Thali to Indian thalis which tend to smack you with flavor, but this just didn't do it for me :(

Yes, we were seated at the communal table, which was off putting initially because we were looking for a more private experience and opportunity to catch up. However, we powered through and made the best of it. Service started off shaky and rushed initially, with incorrect drink orders presented. However once we all settled in things improved. The food was good and the atmosphere was lovely. A few entrée dishes were unavailable and required a little flexibility in the night's taste palate. Overall Thep was enjoyable and I would like to return now that I know what to expect. The service was pleasant, friendly, efficient and helpful from the minute we walked in without a reservation. The ambiance and decor was gorgeous and took me out of NYC for a moment. The phenomenal taste of the first sip of the Thai Iced Tea that paired so well with the rest of my meal is the reason behind the first picture I took. For the apps we ordered my favorite- Chicken Curry Puffs and Chicken Satay. The Chicken Curry Puffs were soft and perfectly mashy on the inside and had a perfect crisp to the layered outside. The Chicken Satay was so different here and yet so savory served with this soft garlic bread. The sauces were so fresh, vibrant and distinct and added to both the appetizers. The peanut sauce had crushed peanuts and was such an accompaniment to texture. For the mains, we had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Braised Beef Short Rib in Penang Curry. The Pad Thai was a great standard and tasty with the crisp sprouts and zesty lime. This Braised Beef Short Rib is where it is at! One of their house specialties- the decadent flavors and textures of this dish is something that will be memorable and just the right touch of spice. Lovely bright orange sweet potatoes and beautiful green beans went so well together with the beef and curry. Looking forward to trying more of their menu and not defaulting to my usual. Warmed up Chicken Pad Thai on the pan over the stove today in a little bit of butter, this was as delicious as it was going to get today. I missed one of the most exquisite Thai Iced Teas I've had in a while, it truly set the tone of how great this late lunch was.
