At the same time, Avi identified the springs were not installed correctly (too many turns or something) which causes the door to drop / fly up when the latch was not on. He offered to replace the springs too. I just replaced the spring with another company last year so I was surprised to learn they were not installed correctly. We were able to reach a bundled price for replacing the opener and the springs. which seems comparable with other companies. I would use this company's services again.

The project took nearly three months and multiple visits. After obvious problems remained, their installer, Brendan, blamed the property's foundation and framing. We hired an independent garage-door company, which documented multiple installation deficiencies: - Safety sensors mounted 16-17 inches above the floor - An unlevel and misaligned door - Improper track and cable tension - Unprogrammed or nonfunctioning controls - Visible gaps and sealing problems Local Garage Doors itself confirmed in writing that the safety sensors should be no higher than six inches. The company also advised us not to operate the door until it conducted its own inspection. On August 1, Local Garage Doors sent Luca, one of its senior technicians. During the recorded inspection, Luca substantially agreed with the independent findings and estimated that the necessary corrections would take another two to four hours. Local Garage Doors later acknowledged in writing that Luca identified items that could be addressed and was prepared to perform corrective work. The company is nevertheless refusing a refund and arguing that its willingness to make those corrections should not be considered an admission that the installation was defective. That position makes no sense. A door requiring hours of re-leveling, adjustment, cable tensioning, safety-sensor correction, programming, and sealing work was not complete and should never have been marked or charged as complete. After months of delays, incomplete work, safety concerns, and constantly shifting explanations, we have completely lost confidence in this company. Another contractor will complete the repairs. Avoid Local Garage Doors.

They failed but of course they totally messed up our garage door. It would not open at all. We could not get our cars out! I called Door Pros on the advice of my neighbor across the street, and I'm sure glad that I did. They understood our problem and worked us into their schedule that very same day. Our tech's name was Dwight, and this guy is a garage door wizard. He inspected our door and (much to our relief) said that as messed up as it looked to us, there would be no problem fixing it. Less than an hour later our door was not only fixed, but it was greased and adjusted to perfection. It hasn't worked this smoothly (or quietly) in years. This is now my go-to garage door repair and maintenance choice. They really are Pros-- and on every level. Dwight is just an all around excellent guy, a superb garage door tech, with a great attitude to boot! I could not recommend them more highly.

Honestly, the whole appointment was really confusing for me. I'm not sure if it just depends on the technician, but I didn't get that "free quote/estimate" as advertised on Gil's website. I felt like there was a lot of upselling initially, such as pressure to get entirely new cables, rollers, and springs when my initial concern was the gap between the door and floor (potential rodent entry). When I questioned if this was really necessary and that I wasn't interested in pursuing any of those services same day, the technician made comments such as "when it breaks let me know" which was unsettling. Later he did say that I could reuse the rollers and cables I already had to save money which changed the tone of things. He also kept asking personal questions which was uncomfortable. At the end of the appointment, I was slapped with a $721 bill - for what??? Note, if you want to avoid the 3% charge, they recommend paying via Zelle or Venmo (they did refund me the $21 (3%)) since I paid via Zelle. Initially the technician just asked me to Zelle/Venmo him (I didn't even know the amount yet!), but I refused without seeing some kind of invoice first which I did receive in the customer portal minutes later and did pay. Anyways, after the technician had left, I called back to ask for clarification on the services with the price breakdown (learned that it was $175 each for panel repair, motor limit adjustment, springs retention, door rebalanced). I contacted the company again to seek clarification on the services such as whether or not there's standard pricing or if written contracts are typically utilized. I wish there was more explanation on the services. I guess the technician/company could tell I was confused about the situation and at least offered to rectify the situation a few days later which they did. They wanted to emphasize customer satisfaction which I do appreciate. I think the overall experience would've been much more pleasant if everything was in writing and there was actually a (no-pressure) free estimate as advertised. Overall, I don't think Gil's Garage Door & Gate Services has any ill intent and they do value customer satisfaction. Maybe it just depends on the technician. Also recommend buddying up with someone during the appointment to avoid being asked personal questions or reduce possible upselling. Other than that, Gil's work quality seems fine and they are very quick.

Initial experience was bad. Sales guy came, was short with me, seems uninterested. Promised to give a quote. Waited 4 days. Didn't get a reply. I wrote a bad review and moved on. Owner contacted me asking me to remove the review and he can help me out with my gate job. I needed someone to help fix a botched gate install job so agreed. The job was to remove two existing posts and replace it with new steel posts. The price quoted for TWO posts were not cheap. He seems to think he's doing me favor for labor only but it was not cheap. It cost the same amount as the full job by the other company for the full install. I'm OK with it because at that point I wanted a job to be done by someone who knows how to do the work. Of course, I found out the reason they're expensive because they SUBCONTRACT to another company that specializes in gates. Are they the expert or is the subcontractor the expert? Nevertheless, I waited a week and a half for the scheduled date. The night before, he text me and ask if I have two steel posts that they need. They quoted me a very high amount to fix two posts but does not provide the materials for the fix. These guys are supposed to be experts in STEEL gates but do not have the materials for STEEL. So what are they experts in? Subcontracting? Reselling gate install service? What irritates me is that he sprung this on me at the last moment the day before. Our conversation was that the quoted price includes labor and materials to fix except for the extra materials that are needed that are ALUMINUM which I purchased. The fact that he asked me to provide STEEL materials at the last possible moment was maybe because (a) he misquoted me or (b) the subcontractors wanted more money to do the work. In any case, I cancelled the job. I cannot trust a company that bait and switch. If you misquote, then you own the difference, not spring it on your customer at the last moment.

The drive shaft of our ancient screw drive garage door opener broke and i knew that replacing that was beyond my short attention span and tools. we called in Precise Garage Door and got a motor belt drive liftmaster installed. we felt it was an excellent investment and very reasonable considering if i had bought the opener plus the belt system and rail myself it actually would have cost almost the same and i certainly would have screwed up something in the install. huge shoutout to jossy who did the installation. Very friendly and informative - didn't do a hard sell on anything and did a fantastic job plus threw in adjusting the tracks and making sure everything was smooth. Praise to Brandon Brooks!!! He is my new go to guy! I struggled for a few years trying to find a good replacement for Jerry(my old go to guy) from the company. Brandon is a skilled technician, and if you are keen, you just know. Fixed ongoing issue quickly that was garage door bouncing back up. Willie had me FaceTime him so he could see the new system, said he would install the right one for $755, and suggested I have the other company come take their equipment away -- understandably, he didn't want to touch it. I was embarrassed that at 70 years old I could still be scammed like that. I'd just been put through the wringer of a 14-month renovation with tons of problems, it was two days before the July 4th holiday, and I was going out of town a few days later. I did not need another headache. Willie was GREAT. He never made me feel like an idiot. He was helpful and honest -- his website lists all his equipment with prices. That's transparency, and honesty. He came the next day exactly when he said he would and installed the system. He was pleasant, detailed, and had a sense of humor about life in general (which I fear I've lost for the moment). Willie himself commented that there are a lot of scammers in his profession. He took great care of me when I needed it. He suggested a reasonable price for a broken spring replacement, which I accepted, and when he began working noticed some wear and tear on a few other parts (2 bottom brackets and 2 fraying cables) which cost a little bit more, but not too much more, so I accepted those charges as well. I might be calling him back for routine maintenance once a year since I trust his and his son's workmanship.
