Dwight, the best door guy.
Richard K.

tl;dr: Dwight is Mr. Door Pros! What's in a name right? Well, Door Pros are surely pros and not some sorry noObs. I live in a house built in 1960 and the dickbutt of a house decided that 2020 was the year to start giving me shit, as if there weren't enough problems going on in the world. This is after I even gave it a makeover by painting it. Freaking ungrateful POS. So this time, my garage door stopped working. At first I thought it was because of an LED light bulb I installed in the garage. But, it turned out to be the garage photo eye sensors. I called LiftMaster and they were going to walk me through the process. When the customer service rep said "get out the wire cutters..." that's when I said oh hell no and hung up. Then I turned to the trusty Yelp app, and searched for "garage door" and it had this option to create a project and get quotes from multiple businesses. It was around 9 PM on Thursday when I made the request and right away Greg from Door Pros sent me a message and we made an appointment for the very next day. My wife was like who are you messaging at this hour? I'm sure Greg's wife was thinking the same thing. LOL. Greg called me on the day of the appointment and asked if he could come early. Well, that's better than late and so he came and took a look, gave me an awesome quote and we scheduled for one of his door doctors to come on Monday to fix the door. So within 2 business days, two pros from Door Pros came to my house and fixed my garage door. That's faster than Amazon Prime deliveries these days! Meanwhile, being old school, I didn't want to leave the other door people that messaged me hanging, so I had to send some sorry messages to the other firms. Early bird, yadda yadda. Today is Monday, and Dwight called 20 minutes before arriving to give me a heads up, and this allowed me to put some clothes on. Y'all know this is the reality of working from home. Anyways, this chill dude with a beard that I could only dream of having, pulls up and went right to work. Let me pause here and say that he wore his mask the entire time like a pro. So Dwight not only replaced the garage door sensors, he re-did the entire wiring, re-aligned and replaced some rollers on my door, re-positioned my wall control panel to make it to code, lubricated the door, told me about the special effects of the door, and talked about some awesome restaurants because Dwight is a foodie. His only kryptonites are spicy food and "chocolate soup". Sound like my weaknesses too! I knew he was a legit foodie when we both agreed on a taco place in Petaluma being the bomb, El Roy's! At the end of the day, Door Pros really did an outstanding job from start to finish. They were up front about everything and were genuine. So if your garage door is giving you problems or you need a new garage door, I highly recommend Door Pros. And trust me, I am not giving 5 stars because Dwight knows where I live. It's because I was really impressed. Now if only I could find an electrician that could be as dependable... Damn my house. * Greg told me that Door Pros was the firm that alerted Chamberlain aka LiftMaster aka Craftsman aka man-they-have-a-ton-of-names about LED bulbs interfering with garage door signals. See, they truly are PROS.

Josh and his team did a fantastic job on our garage doors. We had a three single door garage which barely fitted our suv so we wanted to restructure and convert it to a double and a single door garage. We must had called at least five other reputable companies but none were equipped to do it. Fortunately, Josh listened to our dismay and recommended us a contractor. We were blown away by his kindness and willingness to help even though we hadn't declared to use Door Pro. Josh didn't push us and gave us time to find alternatives. Eventually, what drew us back to Door Pro was their commitment to make sure our needs were met. Just within weeks, the Door Pro guys came in and got the job done to our satisfaction. They came at 10am and by 2pm our garage doors stood exactly as expected. The best part was the entire project was under our projected budget and way below the other two competitors.

Incorrect white caulking (should be brown)

Ordered doors March 2023. Told approx. 10 week ETA. Didn't receive doors until August 2023. Upon install, 2 of the 3 doors were wrong (incorrect caulking). Returned & received 2 more doors in December 2023 that have scratches but we're not going through the hassle of returning them. Also, cracked metal track on 1 of the 3 doors from initial install. Multiple phone calls & emails to the company to repair/replace the track. To date, no update or call back to resolve the problem. Ridiculous!

Flimsy door seal

It is never fun to write a cautionary review of a business, but as I engaged Door Pros based on positive Yelp reviews, I have a duty to warn after this 16 month ordeal, the only aspect of which went smoothly was getting the initial quote from Greg, who departed my driveway with a $2500 deposit on 3 December 2020 within 24 hours of my Internet inquiry. Door Pros consistently overpromised; even worse, the office never contacted me to keep me apprised. The 10 to 12 week lead time for the new garage door turned out to be seven months. The installer was a no-show for the installation scheduled 7 June 2021. (Scott: "I don't know how this happened but I own it"). Vincent, who did the rescheduled installation on 22 June 2021, refused the final payment because one of the panes of glass came cracked; also he had to substitute for the cedar door liner, the flimsy bottom seal was temporary, and the paint was not as agreed. It was not until 14 January 2022 that Brian came out to make the replacements. His assurances that the new painter would be out the next week were optimistic: it was not until today, 29 March 2022, that the painter arrived. I paid the final invoice within minutes of the painter leaving. (Greg gave me a 15% discount on the total for my inconvenience!) I wish I had never heard of Door Pros. Unless you are willing to settle for a place with the kind of customer service that eats you up inside, keep looking!

After comparing their price with a few other companies, they were definitely the most reasonable option. They had the whole project finished within two weeks. They honestly could have completed it even faster, but I had a lot of other yard work going on at the same time and didn't want them to rush it, which they were perfectly accommodating of. The new gate is finished beautifully, and given the quality of the work, I fully expect this one to last a very long time. Highly recommend!

Owner contacted me asking me to remove the review and he can help me out with my gate job. I needed someone to help fix a botched gate install job so agreed. The job was to remove two existing posts and replace it with new steel posts. The price quoted for TWO posts were not cheap. He seems to think he's doing me favor for labor only but it was not cheap. It cost the same amount as the full job by the other company for the full install. I'm OK with it because at that point I wanted a job to be done by someone who knows how to do the work. Of course, I found out the reason they're expensive because they SUBCONTRACT to another company that specializes in gates. Are they the expert or is the subcontractor the expert? Nevertheless, I waited a week and a half for the scheduled date. The night before, he text me and ask if I have two steel posts that they need. They quoted me a very high amount to fix two posts but does not provide the materials for the fix. These guys are supposed to be experts in STEEL gates but do not have the materials for STEEL. So what are they experts in? Subcontracting? Reselling gate install service? What irritates me is that he sprung this on me at the last moment the day before. Our conversation was that the quoted price includes labor and materials to fix except for the extra materials that are needed that are ALUMINUM which I purchased. The fact that he asked me to provide STEEL materials at the last possible moment was maybe because (a) he misquoted me or (b) the subcontractors wanted more money to do the work. In any case, I cancelled the job. I cannot trust a company that bait and switch. If you misquote, then you own the difference, not spring it on your customer at the last moment.

During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I am requesting immediate contact to resolve this matter professionally.
