I had an emergency on Saturday, based on the service (replacing springs, part of the track, rollers, end bearing plates, torsion cable) the invoice that was provided is $2700. I specifically asked if that is a fair price for the service provided and they said it was. I had made clear that I do not later want to find out that an exorbitant price was charged. The reason for me not getting multiple quotes is that I did not expect a business to charge exorbitant price just because a customer is having an emergency. I wish I had known this & would have gotten multiple quotes. So beware of Precision door, get multiple quotes, their prices are way above & beyond, at least two times higher than local companies. On-site labor $69.96 but minimum of $89 along with something like looks like a service discount (but there's a minimum so it's really just distracting). So far, very reasonable, no issues. However, let's look at parts. I can sum it up this way (trying to choose Amazon prices on the slightly higher side to be fair): Part Precision Amazon Spring (1) $249.85 $128.99 (for a pair, so really $64.49?) Cables (2) $301.91 $14.99 Bearings (3) $99.50 $17.99 Now we're onsite with little time to decide and a broken spring, but were able to "negotiate" off $300 by not replacing the cables. Either way it's almost insulting. Charge fairly for the service (actually would pay more for this since it's the actual value) and be reasonable with markups because otherwise no one will use your service or recommend you. read more

I'm updating my review from 2/20/25. As a result of my original review on 2/20/25, Luis from Precision Garage Door called me the next day wanting to understand what happened. We spoke at length and discussed the service calls at my house and also at my mother's house. He understood my concerns & wanted to make it right. He waived the $69.95 service call fee for my Mom's house and gave me a 20% discount on the repairs done at my house. I was impressed that he/Precision wanted to ensure complete customer satisfaction which I very much appreciated. These guys are a rip off. As a consumer, you are vulnerable and they take full advantage by charging 2-3x prices for repairs. I got a quote of $2220 for replacing springs, rod, pulley, cables and rollers. All together these parts in stores are around $300 (max). I paid them for coming over and giving a quote ($70), but thank god I went to get a second quote. I got the garage fixed for $500!!! I called Precision and scheduled an appointment for my garage door which was operating sluggish. Technician came on time and told me I needed all the hardware on my door needed to be replaced or have a new door installed. I asked the Precision technician if the door springs could be wound up a bit more to help out the door in the opening mode. The technician declined. The cost of the door hardware replacement was $1600.00 and a new door was $3200.00. After sleeping on this garage door issue, I called another business, which I've used before to take a look at my door. They came, wound both door springs, lubricated the screw drive shaft and the screw carrier/rails. The garage door opened and closed like new! read more

I hired Precision door to fix the gap on garage door in order to keep rodents out of my garage. You can see in the picture that there is a 2-3 inch gap from garage door to the floor. The service man Philip quoted me $4000 to replace the entire motor and door or $2000 to fix the cables and springs he told me that there was no way to fix my current garage door to close up the gap. My garage door works great and my only issue is the large gap. I paid the service fee of $55. I then posted on my neighborhood Facebook page about what precision told me and several neighbors responded to my post that there are settings on the garage opener that allow me to easily adjust how far the garage door can close. Bait & Switch along with Lies! I called Precision Door Service for a quote to replace a torsion spring on my roll-up sectional garage door. I clearly stated that there was a right spring and a left spring, and only one of them was broken. I asked the cost of replacing the left spring. The quote was approximately $300. I was excited. I confirmed that the quote was for parts and labor, and they confirmed that it was. Paul, the service person, called ahead and confirmed that the quote I had was accurate, but he would do an inspection to see if there were other things that needed attention. After the inspection, Paul's quotes ranged from $900 to $2,000. The highest quote was for a lot of cosmetic stuff that I didn't need...there were no safety issues. But when I said I only wanted the spring replaced he said it would be $900. I asked about the $300 quote and he said they won't replace just a single spring. So his quote remained at $900. To me, this is 'bait & switch 101". There is no way anyone should do business with a company that displays this level of dishonestly. read more

Brandon called almost immediately after I talked to the company to get a service appointment. He confirmed his timeline for arrival and was prompt, polite, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. He immediately identified the problem/failure and recommended options for repair/replacement. Precision is not inexpensive, but I think you definitely get what you pay for - expertise, quality and exemplary service. I got sticker shock when they told me it was going to be nearly $80 for the service call to give me an estimate. That fee could be cut in half if I actually use them for the repair. I called several other locations that service garage doors and no one had a fee for coming and giving you an estimate. Others also included at no additional fee any adjustments or cleaning needed to be done to the garage door opener system. This is an extremely simple repair and every other garage door repair organization simply gave me an estimate over the phone. I have used Precision Garage Door Service a few times in the past few years, always with excellent results. My latest call to Precision was this afternoon (8/5/22). When trying to leave my garage, I found that a car parked in the space adjacent to my garage exit was pulled so far forward it was partially blocking my exit. In manuvering my car trying to safely back out of my garage, I accidently bumped into one of the tracks that the door runs on - resulting in the door not completely closing. Within a couple oh hours after placing a call for service to Precision this afternoon, Paul Brinkman arrived. He analyzed and resolved the problem with the door, all within anout a half hour. I've been using Precision for my garage door in Santa Cruz. They've been very prompt and helpful and the staff is friendly, well-equipped and well trained, and deliver quality work and parts. What I really like is that they actually pick up the phone quickly when you call them and you can talk to a real person who can immediately schedule a service call, sometimes the same day even. Today I messed up a wire on my door and Philip came over and fixed it, explained the issue, and didn't charge me for it! Stay away from Precision Door unless you want to spend 3-4 times as much as it should cost for a repair. We had a torsion spring break on our 12 year old modern garage door - we couldn't get our original installer out for a few days so I called a few companies to try to get the repair done sooner. Precision Door was available, despite the $69.95 appointment fee, we went ahead and had them come out to see what it would cost to get the repair done sooner. Their repair tech showed up about 3 hours later and spent 10-15 minutes "evaluating" our door and came back with 2 recommendations - a cost of $1200 to fix the springs and adjust the door, or a even higher cost of $2000 to fix the door. This is for a door that is in great shape, and just one broken torsion spring. He wanted to replace the cables, rollers, hinges and who knows what else. All as "preventative maintenance". We finally asked if he could at least help open the door for the $69.95 fee, so we that could get at least one of our cars out - he said that would cost $195 and it wasn't safe. We paid the $69.95 and felt lucky to send him on his way. What a scam. After a few additional calls we found a company who replaced the both torsion springs for $495 the next day. They even opened the door for us for free when they came out to give us the estimate! Our original door installer was also willing to do it for $450. read more

He scheduled an appointment the next day, sent me an email confirmation, and I was ready for a night of sentry duty in the living room. Next morning, I got a call and text from PAUL BRINKMAN - telling me he'd arrive a half hour earlier than the proposed time frame - no Cable Guy, he. He arrived right on the dot, diagnosed the issues (multiple) and wrote up two estimates. We agreed on the course of action, and I left him to do his magic. Guess what? I have a working garage door that operates more smoothly and quietly than it ever has, and has a 3 year warranty, to boot. My dad was an engineer, he was my role model for fixing things. I've had the pleasure of having James W. several times and he is a logical thinking guy, looks at the big picture, doesn't just say "i'm here to adjust your reversing garage door." He has shown his common sense and critical thinking skills many times, a younger or new tech in tow since he also trains.
