Booked early this morning for a same-day plumbing emergency. We have an exploded pipe, water leaking, mold - and a newborn at the house with bottles to clean and sterilize. Checked in around 2:30pm since nobody ever showed. Was assured the tech was on the way. Then received a call after 4pm that they ran out of time and would need to reschedule us for 2 DAYS FROM NOW AT THE EARLIEST. Wild experience. Bad company, overpriced, and they never completed the job. DO NOT use them. We paid $14,000 for a major electrical project. The company was supposed to complete the final permit process but failed to do so. After they were paid, they stopped returning calls and responding to messages. I called the electrician, Nick Kresic, multiple times and contacted the company repeatedly, but no one ever called back. I eventually had to contact the village myself to find out what was happening. The village even commented that they never seen such a delay from an electrical contractor. Before they got our money, they were responsive and helpful. After payment, they disappeared. Extremely unprofessional, irresponsible, and disappointing. I would never use them again. Due to the company's lack of communication and failure to complete the permit process, I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Illinois Attorney General's Office. read more

Technician came in and quoted me a minimum of $1500 on a new board at a minimum and recommended a $10,000 new furnace. Called for a second opinion who was able to fix the issue on the board in 5 minutes. Checked the furnace, and said it should run for another 5-10 years. read more

Despite an included service program membership alongside the warranty, I now write this review with my 4-month old air-conditioning down for over 36 hours, chasing a service appointment that's been pushed twice, now to 6-9pm on Sunday. I have no faith I will see a technician today. Absolutely terrible customer service, they are incapable of showing up on time for appointments--or communicating around delays and reschedules. on three year old HVAC system from Precision, we have had terrible service. Appointments are missed, and service calls have to be followed up on due to errors made. Now, I scheduled an appointment for the annual inspection and to check the AC due to a lack of cooling. The appointment was made through their on line AI system. When no one came for the service call, I spoke with a customer service representative who said that I was not the schedule because they could not rely on the AI system and the earliest they could send someone out is a week from today. read more

This is the weirdest company I have encountered. Their pricing they say is a " flat rate." The only flat rate pricing I know Is the post office various way of mailing mail the fastest time. Their schedule is the worst ever. Not even a block schedule like i.e. between 1-5PM etc, their's is "on the fly schedule" and very proud of saying it. I get text messages confirming an appointment and if I have any questions "Please reply back with any questions or updates" The secretary that mans the phone (I think Michelle) admitted no one watches or replies. Pretty aggressive, ... tell them you want to move forward and theyd will make make appointments for install before even signing the contract or paying! and immediatly ask to confirm. Terrible communication - I was given a subscription after the Freedom team replaced both my furnaces. I have called 5 times now to have my humidifier replaced over the past 4 weeks after a technician came out and confirmed it needed to be replaced. Every time I call, no one can give me an update or ETA for replacement and indicates someone will call back. No one has called back any of these times - the company has just lost all my HVAC business after being a loyal customer for 10+ years with Freedom. read more

Very professional service. Steve was the name of the person who worked on our house today. He replaced our broken pipes and got our heater working again. Checked various places in and outside of the home ...heater, gas, stove. My mom, the homeowner, said that he did a good job and gave us a fair price. She was relieved to find out that our whole heater did not need to be replaced. We are very grateful to have our heat working again! So we got an estimate for a new humidifier unit from Precision/AWE for $1300+. It turns out that all we really needed was a new solenoid for around $250. What's more, it sounds like AI is responding to these reviews. The response said they have not record of our account. They had no problem charging us for the monthly service contract. I would give a zero star rating if possible. Precision Today recently "partnered" (i.e. bought out) with my long-time, excellent HVAC company (Freedom Air & Heating) in Franklin Park. I'd already signed up with Freedom for my annual furnace check, so Precision came instead. My Lennox furnace is 9 years old and has been regularly maintained and checked since its purchase. Was VERY surprised to hear from Precision that my furnace needed $3,000 of repairs. Suggestion was replacement with Trane (they don't sell Lennox). Gave me 3 quotes: $7341, $8377 and $11,555. Had 2 reputable, BBB rated companies THOROUGHLY inspect furnace without knowledge of Precision's recommendations. Both said is was fine. Proactively replaced a $69 part. That's all. PRECISION TODAY is not to be trusted. read more

They bought an HVAC company we liked and used for years. Told us we now qualified for a free plumbing inspection!!! Wouldn't you know it, they found tons of problems in our (perfectly functioning) system (including the work the company they purchased had doneI. I called about having them replace a back-up sump pump battery ( I had been having difficulty finding a replacement). The guy on the phone immediately wanted to talk about the age of my hot water heater. Said he was "just doing his job." They came today and quoted me $500 to install the battery but doubted that they could find one that was compatible. They recommended $3,000 and $4,000 options to replace my whole system. I gave the guy a harder time than I should have... In any case, I did my homework and was able to find the battery I needed for $175. Problem fixed. read more

I previously used Five Star Heating to service my HVAC system. They were great. Unfortunately, the owner retired and sold the company to Precision Today. Precision Today has proven to be unreliable. My first experience was last fall. In the first week of November, I called to schedule my annual furnace inspection/tune-up. The earliest available date they had was after Christmas! So, I called Ibbotson and had my furnace service done ten days later. Over the following several months, I received multiple unsolicited e-mail messages from Precision Today touting their services. So, I decided to try Precision Today for my spring Air Conditioning maintenance. About ten days ago, I scheduled an appointment for today, although they would not commit to any specific time period. On Friday, they sent me a text message requesting that I confirm my availability for the appointment, which I did confirm. After waiting all morning today for a technician to arrive, I received a phone call shortly before noon informing me that a technician would not be coming today and requested that I reschedule. I chose to cancel instead. This experience reminded me of the Seinfeld episode with the rental car company in which Jerry tells the rental car representative "I don't think you know how reservations work. You know how to TAKE the reservations, you just don't know how to HOLD the reservations." Perhaps someone in management at Precision Today previously worked at a rental car company! It looks like Ibbotson will be getting all of my HVAC work in the future. I suggest that anyone considering Precision Today choose a different HVAC contractor. read more

This company sells you a product and then sells the "premium customer package" guaranteeing they will come out ASAP when you call. Then you call them because your AC stops working and they GHOST you. NO CALL BACK. So you call again.... "Oh sorry, the dispatcher is in a meeting and will call as soon as they are done." NOPE. Fast forward FOUR days with NO AC and NO CALL!! Got the money back for the "premium customer package" and went with a different company. NEVER AGAIN will I EVER recommend this company. Period. read more

I never heard anything more from them and even sent follow ups via the message chat we had. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I finally called them and they claimed they called me 90 minutes earlier to say they were on their way. Like most iphones, mine has caller ID history and no phone calls show up today from anyone. Don't use them if you want reliable service calls!!! They did say they will come out tomorrow and I am betting they will throw a surcharge on the bill stating it is now a weekend call. I have had this company do work in my home a on couple previous jobs. The work was done very well, The technicians were courteous. My only problem is that their pricing is getting ridiculous. They wanted $1800 to swap out a simple sump pump. A job I could have done for $300 tops. I agreed to a reduced price of $1200 which was still way overpriced but I'm 73 and don't do my own plumbing anymore. Too bad because they do good work...just at astronomical prices. read more

I really liked Five Star before they were bought out by Precision. I knew the repair guys and they all did good work and when I bought a furnace or central AC the sales people were knowledgeable about the product lines. Precision seems more focused on selling even on routine maintenance. And the pricing is a little questionable. I think 20 years of service with Five Star didn't prepare me well for the Precision business model. I no longer use Precision and have found another HVAC and plumber. read more

My AC went out during the very hot spell at the end of June 2025. Mack S. came out the same day, gave me a bid and arranged to have a new system put in by the end of the week. I have a high velocity system, so it had to go in the attic. Isaac D. and Jesus B. were the best. They were very professional and respectful of my home and worked until I had air again! This seems to be some kind of shell company that absorbs local HVAC companies and handles all calls via a central call center. As such, they have no accountability to any of their customers, since it's the local operator, not themselves that is responsible for the work. This makes it frustrating to deal with them when you have a problem, since all they can do is route your call to the local operator and hope that the local operator calls you back. For this reason alone, I'd stay away from this company. If you have the option to choose someone that's owned and operated locally - take it! This company installed a new furnace in our house. Everything seemed to be working until the temperature dropped, at which point our furnace stopped working. Getting someone to come out and look at it has been a series of putting in calls to the call center and then hoping someone will call back. Not the best experience. read more

I had no AC. I asked them to repair connector box outside. Rep only focused on the breaker box and tokd me $7,000 to replace. I have been here 40 yrs. Just had 4 breakers replaced and had no past problem. Never addressed my request. I got replaced out side. Call for AC repair. 5 Star that has been great for 20 yrs. Before he came Precision said if the rep does not feel safe would not do work. Called ComEd. They came checked all electric outside and gave me written proof. 5 Star rep came never questioned electric and fixed with in half an hour. Precision used scare tactics to make me spend $7,000. BUYER BEWARE. Not sure 5 Star made a good decision being bought by Precision. Note man told there were all kind of recalls on my breaker box. I could find NONE. HATE A LIAR AND DID NOT FALL FOR THE DECEPTION OF PRECISION AND ITS EMPLOYEE. 5 star has always been outstanding. I hope they can salvage their reputation. read more

This will be a rather long review due to the significant effort by the Precision Today technician to make up problems so that the cost of repair would push me to buy a new furnace. For years, I have been an AWE (Air, Water and Energy) customer. They installed a new furnace in 2013 which had been maintained annually by an AWE technician without having any problems. AWE was basically taken over by Precision Today and on January 9 was the first time a Precision Today technician conducted a maintenance service of my furnace. Based on his inspection, I needed to replace three things that amounted to $2,900. In addition, he felt the heat exchanger should be replaced, soon, because it was in "bad shape". The quote for replacing the heat exchanger was $2,800. The system performance check sheet he gave me basically said that I needed to "repair immediately" or replace. In addition, he said that the operation of the furnace was "to unsafe". He then told me that it would be better to simply get a new furnace and quoted me for $7,785, which he told me was the "top of the line" Lennox furnace. I asked him if there was a new furnace like my current furnace. He said a furnace like mine would probably cost more. I checked the Lennox website to find out their replacement furnace for mine was less expensive than what he quoted. In all the years that I have had technicians providing maintenance, NO technician ever gave me a quote, on the spot, for a new furnace or a/c. If they thought I might need something new, they would give me an idea of costs, but they said I would have to talk with a salesperson. All of this seemed odd to me, since, as I said, I had been religious about annual maintenance. I decided to have technicians from ABC plumbing and Four Seasons do a maintenance service. Both technicians said everything was fine, but that there were areas I should watch, however nothing needed to be done. I specifically asked about the problem areas noted by the Precision Today technician. They both said there wasn't a problem. In fact, a leaking problem the Precision Today technician cited was fix by simply tightening a screw. I don't know if the Precision Today technician had been instructed to create repair problems to push for new equipment, or if he was on some sort of commission if new equipment was sold. I doubt he did this on his own and I am sure that the management of Precision Today instructs their technician to do this type of approach. I asked the ABC and Four Seasons technicians if they would ever quote a new piece of equipment which both said "no" and it would have to come from their sales department. I also showed the Precision Today "System Performance Report" to the ABC and Four Seasons technicians. They could not believe what was identified. I do see there a lot of good reviews on google for this company. BUT I basically found their technician to be disreputable and therefore the same for Precision Today. Entire HVAC system installed in May of 2024. Installer misinformed me about system operations. Part of prepaid maintenance agreement is a hot water heater flush annually. Technician refused to perform service stating that my unit was too old and pushed to sell me a new unit. Mine is eight years old and still has two years on the warranty. To retain my Trane HVAC system warranty I need to have it inspected each spring and fall. Twice this spring, Precision has scheduled this and no one came. One time "someone accidentally canceled the appointment " and again today I was taken off of the schedule because "we just don't have the manpower " . Neither time was I notified. They are putting the system warranty in jeapardy. These inspections were prepaid by me last year. read more

Called on a Saturday to check a leak coming from my upstairs bath. Their first availability was the next day Sunday, and he arrived as promised by 9a. Diagnosed the leak, and explained the required repair. Given that he had to leave to pick up parts, he was done within 2.5 hours. Very polite, professional and I as pleased with the overall service. I had water pooling on my floor and could hear water spraying in the wall. Precision Plumbing responded in under 2 hours to my request for service. Technician Steve took great care to try to pinpoint the exact location of the leak to minimize the damage to my wall. I was holding my breath as he made the cut. He was dead spot on and the leak was immediately apparent. Steve took the time to explain every step of the way what he was doing and thoroughly explained pricing options. The repair was completed pretty quickly and Steve took great care in cleaning up after himself. He also was careful not to damage anything when moving my appliances. I couldn't be any happier with the service and highly recommend Precision Plumbing and technician Steve. Definitely 5 star! read more

We used 5 Star to maintain our furnace for many years with good results. Now 5 Star has been absorbed into this company, and they may be a bit confused with the broader scope. We had Assim come out for an annual check of the A/C and furnace; he was very personable and thorough, also offered to have one of their plumbers come out to check a separate issue (that project went well - covered in another review). However, communication with Precision Today is kind of a mess - Assim sent several different quotes, with confusing and unclear language; we had questions but there is no way to submit those questions (no email address, no portal) and we work all day so phone chat leads to phone tag. I emailed my questions to Assim himself (he had shared his email address) but we never heard anything back from him. Ultimately, we went with another company which was easier to communicate with. read more
