I had an outstanding first experience at Precision tune this week. I was referred by Just Tires manager to Precision Tune as a full auto service provider for my leaking power steering. They diagnosed and solved my leaky fluid pump along with a thorough free full diagnosis of the entire car. That diagnosis would have cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars at the Acura dealer, min $150 before doing anything. Turns out I needed rear brakes, brake fluid flush, and another other leaky valves fixed. Total bill under $1000 with online discount coupon of 10% on their website. The customer service rep Melissa at the front desk was extremely friendly and very technically savvy. Melissa said she learned everything from her dad an auto mechanic! The world needs more mechanics and technology specialists like Melissa and her coworkers. The prices are 30- 50% less than dealers and nearby auto service providers. My entire 75+ year life experience with auto repair shops has been scary, good and terrible in terms of trust, price, friendliness, and quality of service. I'm a retired engineer and owned a management consulting company. So I know exceptionally great and bad people and companies. I will be going back there with my two old cars whenever I need services. They take 4+ hours to do a basic oil change. I went there to get an oil change and they were supposed to fill up all the under the hood fluids. I get a notification a week later that I am low on wiper fluid and I pop my hood and there is no coolant in my car with the cap missing! I drove to Wilmington with barely any coolant in my car. This could've caused the engine to overheat/blow. Luckily I checked it and didn't drive around until I needed an oil change again. They always try to up sell you here and my mom got her brakes done here that she had to bring back three times for them to finally get them right. I would not trust this place to do the most basic thing on your car every time you bring it another problem happens! read more

Quite possibly the most horrible group of inept pseudo-mechanics in the Raleigh area. Their diagnostics, alone, produced a massive drain in my car's cooling system. The result of which - the very next day after "repairs/diagnostics" - was a garage floor soaked in coolant, and a sudden failing automobile system that super-heated the engine to the point of stalling and boiling. I was carrying my 9-year old in the car at the time. This was a horrifying experience! When confronted with this event, Precision, immediately took the coward's way out, claiming that vehicle testing was performed at my risk. Ergo, if the vehicle is damaged during their diagnostic procedure - it's your tough luck should anything go wrong. This is legally dubious, at best. Cost:$ 500. This was followed by a gasket replacement (the one they busted). Cost:$ 800. Less than 30 minutes of driving my poor car off the lot, the 'Service Engine Soon' light turns on and the motor begins to chuck while driving. I am making an appointment with a higher rated mechanics shop STAT! Avoid this clown show of a repair shop at all costs! read more

It took them seven hours to do my oil change. I dropped my car off at 9 am and they didn't get done until 4:00 pm. On top of that I called for a status at 12:45 and Melissa said there was one other person in front of me which is fine. However, why is it taking you literally the entire work day for an oil change. I was without my car all day for a service that takes 30 minutes or less. I will not be returning for oil changes again. They definitely lost a customer. read more

Had my oil changed there back in Feb. 1000 miles later my car randomly started having engine issues. Took my car in to be told I needed to spend $770 to change some filters out on the engine. Got my car back and the next time I drove it the same issues happened again. Took my car back where they then told me they missed another issue that would then cost me an additional $1000+ to fix. Paid that amount... 6 days later my car is still throwing a lot of codes. I'm getting my money back. Right now they're avoiding my calls. 2024/06/25 update: Car started having random oil pressure issues on long drives. Duty Tire mechanics off of Atlantic are a much better shop! They're at least honest about not being able to fix a specific issue. Took my car to Epic Auto Center where they confirmed that Precision Auto Tune just "shotguns parts at a problem and hopes that it fixes the issue." When they should have wiped the engine clean and looked for the source of the leak rather than relying on computer codes alone. Don't take your car to Precision Auto Tune unless you enjoy wasting time, energy and money. Would give 0 stars if I could. read more

When I first walked in on Monday, he bumped Martha's quote for air conditioning service up by $60.00, and when I arrived on time for an A/C check today, he had already left for the day, and Martha said no one could even look at my car, 2 and a half hours before closing, until the next day. I've taken my cars to this location for years, over all other options, if my loyalty needed a adjective, it would be devout. 3 years ago, I can remember distinctly mentioning to my wife, "I'm so happy I found some place local that doesn't mess with me, does what I ask and stands by their work." This is and hopefully will continue to be that place. I'm turning this review from a low one to the highest I can because I'm that impressed. Without going into extensive detail I can confidently tell you dear reader, this was the trickiest car problem to ever show its face to me in all my years of driving. A sound that was intermittent and foreboding. Josh went above and beyond what I would have expected ANY shop to do to make experience right. His persistent followup and work really showed it's not just a job or just a car or just a customer, it's a relationship. Its trust, it's hard work and this is really what you want in a repair shop. Service was as good as it gets, went in late on a weeknight without an appointment to help me diagnose the issue (heard a sound without check engine light so I needed help without much direction). Was told the cost of a full diagnostic but it was recommended I come back early the next morning to have a mechanic drive around with me to hear and diagnose, saving me the cost of the diagnostic. Within minutes he knew the issue (loose bearings), showed me the issue and I was given the price. Hour later I'm on my way and the issue is fixed, no up charge, reasonable price, as easy as one can hope for at a mechanic. read more

It took well over an hour and I didn't really see why, as there was nobody there but me. But I don't know if there were folks who dropped off their cars for service. Absolutely horrific experience and terrible quality of work. Down 1100 dollars in parts and repairs and still without the A/C fixed. Lost engine components and broke the engine oil dipstick while blaming it on me. Supposed to repair the A/C system and I get the vehicle back in worse condition than I brought it in with MASSIVE antifreeze and oil leaks. Was not even supposed to be TOUCHING the oil or coolant system. Absolutely DO NOT go here. Dishonest and shifty ownership and will take you for every penny you have. read more

Josh, Tom and Melissa are always polite. They handled a challenging situation - where JiffyLube ruined the engine in my son's car - with courtesy and professionalism. Their advocacy really helped, as JiffyLube took full responsibility. They were also gracious when JiffyLube found a cheaper, lower mileage engine than the one Precision had found. The car seems to be running well, and they also did the NC inspection after the engine was installed. Precision is not always the fastest, but they are nice, realistic and seem to do a good job. I got in at (8:30am) handed my keys off waited maybe a hour and a half told the lady at the desk I needed some exhaust work done she told me "that will be done by the end of the day " I left called again to add Axle services to the job being done on my car and was told then (12:30) it would be done before the end of the day. I called at (4:40pm) because I didn't know how this goes, was then reassured again it would be done before the end of the day and that I would receive a call. That call never came, nor did anyone have time to at least let me know it wouldn't be ready in time for pick up. I called at (6:28pm) when I asked about my car she said "it should be finished in the morning" funny you been telling me all day it would be finished before closing TODAY. Y'all work hard I get it and respect it but please understand I'm now missing more work because of this, don't keep telling the same line of "it will be done before closing" when in reality that's not the case. Also a courtesy call to inform the owner that their car won't be ready in the time allotted would be a great idea. P.S. If you are a customer, don't leave.The chances of you getting your car back same day once you leave significantly decreases. read more

I can't really tell when people are being honest with me about my car and what it needs. Every time I take it somewhere people would tell me that I needed this and that when all I was looking for was an oil change. I think these guys are pretty honest. I took my car in because it had made some squeaky sounds when I pressed my brakes. I'm sure if I took it somewhere else they would have made me change all my brake pads, but they told me that my back brakes could probably go a little longer - I definitely appreciated that. They replaced my front brake pads and rotors. I'm glad I listened to the yelp reviews and brought my car here. I'll probably be going back for an oil change this weekend - will update my review then :) read more

Good- Nice lounge. TV and one hour free wifi. Work that was done was done well. Bad- They were slammed. I got there at 830am and got out at 1230pm. I ordered an oil change, air filter, and for them to CHECK the alignment. I walked down to chipotle to eat lunch and when I came back they performed the alignment even though it was only slightly off. They had my phone number and didn't ask me if I wanted it done. I will admit I signed the paper and paid for everything without thinking about it because I was ready to leave. That's my fault. They now have $60 for a service I would not have had done if I knew ahead of time how little the tires were out of alignment. read more

I am always skeptical of auto repair shops as I've always heard horror stories, however I wanted to take the time to share my experience with this one. I walked in at 4:30 on the verge of tears with a 2 year old in tow. I had been living with awful squealing back brakes (brand new ones at that) for roughly 2 months. Originally I thought it was dust that would work its way out, but month later I was quickly losing my sanity over it. I explained the issue to Mike at the front and he told me about the back brake service. They cleaned, adjusted and lubricated the brakes for me. $39 and 25 minutes later I was on my way. Since then I've had no squealing! This shop has gained a customer for life. I will not go to another one (unless I need something they don't provide). I was treated like my issue was of upmost importance. The level of service they've provided here is hands down the best I've experienced from a repair shop. read more
