I had my timing belt & water pump replaced on 1/29/18. On 7/3/18, my timing belt broke. Took it back to precision and they stated that a valve cover leak caused the belt to slip off. Oil will cause a belt to deteriorate over time but to completely jump off? And there was no sign of this leak 5 months ago? I'm supposed to believe this and now my engine is ruined. Not even so much as a refund for the prior (insufficient) work performed. ***Update 7/23/18: I would rate the regional manager -- Ronnie 5 stars. He stepped up and replaced the engine and paid for my rental car. Unfortunately, that engine was found and replaced by the Baileywick location. I made it about 10 miles before the check engine light came on. Took it to the Cary location where they informed me that there is a significant amount of oil sludge in the engine. So in summary: --I had a perfectly functioning vehicle in January when I had my timing belt replaced --Timing belt broke due to a faulty install --Gerald has refused to accept this. --Ronnie stepped up to try and make things right --Gerald did the bare minimum, put in a substandard engine and made no attempt to even clean it up. -- Ronnie cannot cover for Gerald's ineptitude. -- I once had a perfectly functioning well maintained engine. I now have a junkyard engine. There was an opportunity to make this right but unfortunately, Gerald doesn't own his mistakes. Despite Ronnie's best efforts, I'm leaving this as a 1 star review. He answered all of my questions and was just so pleasant, professional, friendly, funny, and courteous. As a woman, I felt a sense of trust just in speaking with him. I appreciate that. Josh Haynes is knowledgeable, patient, honest, and provides a great value. He lays out the repair options, then (if I ask) tells me what he would do if it were his car. He helps me to save money. He respects everyone 110%. Josh took care of one of my cars from when I bought it with 38,000 miles on it until I got rid of it with 308,000 miles on it. He took care of another from when I bought it with 50,000 miles on it until I got rid of it with 392,000 miles on it. Clearly, having gone to him for so much car care has given me an opportunity to see a lot of how he works. He definitely leads his team by example. He gives employees a chance, then expects them to repay him by working as hard as he does. I have seen him stay late to help employees unable to finish work themselves. I can't imagine a better boss. I don't know how he manages to run a shop and provide me so much personal attention, but he does it. I recommend him to everyone I know who needs help with their car. read more

Timing belts on Toyota Highlander were replaced less than a yr ago @ another place but kept having squeaky noise on a cold start. Took it to Precision (John Monroe) by a friend's referral. They didn't disappointed me as I drove 30 mins from Cary to their place. Not only they fixed the problem they didn't charged me a penny. The front desk person was very nice as well. These guys are so great- consistent management so they get to know your family and cars. Never have they pushed an upgrade or insisted I need some extra service like other car places have in my experience. I've been going to this specific Precision Tune for well over 10 years now and have never had a problem. Today my car would not start, so I called ahead. They took my car in right away, inspected it, and when it turned out just being an error on my part, they let me go and did not charge me the diagnostic fee. I always find their staff to be very helpful and honest with me. If they tell me that my car needs new brakes, tires, etc. they will take me out to show me what it should look like versus what mine looks like. The guys there are great. I got my oil changed at the Baileywick Location and have never felt so disrespected by an employee of ANY company before. I have been coming here since I moved here 6.5 years ago and I will NEVER come back due to how disrespected I felt. I walked in an noticed a new 19+ oil change price and asked the man if the 18.00 oil changed and how I asked on the phone and she promised that's how much it was. He rolled his eyes at me and laughed and said in a snarky voice how not since he had worked here had it changed. Clearly he had only been here a few months. He then proceeded to laugh again and be rude and disrespectful and condescending in his voice and said if it would make me happy he would give me a one dollar credit. Have been taking vehicles here for over 5 years. Managers have changed but have always been consistent and helpful. Never pressure to do anything to my vehicles that may need to be done. I really wanted to write this review to compliment Gerald for how he handled an issue with my car that was caused or seemingly caused by this service station. After an oil change my car had some body damage. Gerald looked it over with me and instead of writing me off and not taking responsibility he (and the company) covered the cost to get the body damage repaired at another shop. I can in with a coupon for and oil change and tire rotation at 1:45pm. There was only 2 people in the waiting room. Customer service was great the only problem I have is that it takes over 2 hours for an oil change and rotation. I was told it would only be a hour wait, yet another customer comes in after me and leaves within a hour before me. I don't know what is going on. read more

So I don't usually have much faith in car people anymore but the staff here have changed my attitude. I had a lot done to my car which made for a high bill but I never once felt like I was being stiffed and they were glad to show me and explain to me what was going on. The service was prompt and courteous on the day of the oil change. The next day I had issues with the vehicle not shifting gears and jerking while driving on the interstate. This is also the second time that I have had my car serviced here and had issues immediately following the service. I came back the next day after calling ahead and had the tech that serviced it Check the car and test drive it. The tech told the front associate that everything was fine. I got no further than a half mile only to have the same jerking issue. I returned to the store and asked that the tech, Mr. Wille, drive it with me. He knew that the car was not shifting gears as he drove it with me in the car. As I returned with the tech, the associate pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and if I was to bring it in the morning, Saturday, that there would be a long wait for a lead tech to look at my car. I did return on Saturday and the manager was refusing to even address the issue. I'm a highly suspicious that the tech mixed oil in with transmission fluid, which would cause jerking. The manger, Gerald was very offensive and guarded and refused to even drain the oil or transmission fluid. He basically blamed it on the age of the car eventhough this problem happened after my car was serviced here. I'm sorry that this location does not take pride in there work especially in regards to being professional. read more

The prices of Precision Tune's basic services are very reasonable. I appreciate the head's up from the technician when other items on the car require attention. They don't pressure you to get the additional work done, but do make you aware of it. I have taken my vehicles to this location for at least 15 years. Mostly state inspections and oil changes. The issue I have now is with my 2004 Volvo which I have brought exclusively to them for inspections and oil changes since 2011. Since I work from home, I never put more than 5000 miles on my car in a year, so I tended to only get an oil change once a year at inspection time. Prior to my last visit which was in May of 2015, everything was fine. After that visit, I started to notice oil spots on my garage floor, but since my car is now 12 years old I just thought it was probably a leaky gasket. As the months past, the oil spots became more of an issue, so I place a piece of thick cardboard under the engine to absorb it. Fast forward to this year. I needed to get my car inspected, but since I needed new tires, I took my car to where I always buy tires. Then I went down the road to get a 4 wheel alignment at a different garage. While I was there, I asked them to also perform the inspection and oil change. I left my car, but soon got a call from them. They told me that when they pulled the oil plug, it was stripped and the oil pan was also stripped. Since it is aluminum, it couldn't be fixed, and a new oil pan was needed at a cost of about $1100. I had them do the work. Now I go back to Precision Tune Auto Care on Ballyewick Road in North Raleigh to discuss my problem. There is absolutely no doubt that their tech stripped my oil plug; I hadn't brought the car anywhere else. Since I only have 100,000 miles on the car, the plug did not "wear out" as the manager told me since 2011. I understood that I didn't give them the chance to "fix it", so I suggested that they pay what the Volvo dealer would change them for the parts. They accepted no responsibility and refused to pay any of the cost. Understand I have meticulous records for my car repairs, and I know with 100% certainty that they damaged that plug. They did insult me by offering a $100 shop voucher. Needless to say, they lost my business and I am making one of my life's mission to expose them. read more
