I cannot believe a place like this still exists. An independent shop owner who is not locked in with this manufacturer or that manufacturer and tries to tell you the virtue of this tire over the current tire or the cheaper model you want. Darren is the owner and a hard working man. We learned of his shop through a tow truck driver who told us he purchased all of his tires through Darren, which is what we needed to hear. Today my tire was low, figured it had a nail in it and stopped by, no appointment, they looked at the car right away, replaced a valve stem, no charge as we had bought the tires there and away I went. We have bought 2 full sets of tires, had an oil change and had a nail pulled from a tire and we have never been there for a long wait. This is the place to go, they can get most brands and they don't have all of the ridiculous overhead or franchise fees and all of the other things that make the price of your tires go up and up. When Darren quotes you a price it is the price on the rim and out the door, not this that and the other thing added on once you get there. read more

Dang! These owners are so cool, so calm. I called them freaking out while I was watching the pounds from one of my tires drop on the dashboard - and it was dropping quickly. They got me in and out in under twenty minutes for $25. I would have happily paid double for the service I received here. We had them check on a pretty bad leak we had in our car, they said they ran a pressure check for$79 or $89 and they found no leaks anywhere. I thought that was in insane because my driveway tells a different story about leaks. In fact I got on my hands and knees and looked before we bought the car over there and could literally see drips dripping off of it about a rate of 1 every minute. We took it immediately to another mechanic and they found a pretty bad radiator leak (another $69) They said they couldn't even do a pressure test because of the leak. The only reason I gave them 3 stars because Before this my wife had used them a few times for oil changes, new tires, inspections and such without incident but $89 for a pressure test that apparently never happened sort of was pretty infuriating read more

I took my kid's car to SD. He's leaving for school in a few months, and I wanted to make sure he had good tires. Had Darrin move the two still-decent front tires to the back and put new tires on the front. All rims were off the car. Two weeks later, my kid hits a bottle or something, shredding the new front tire. My son calls me because he cant get the lug nuts off of the wheel in order to change it. Thankfully, he hasn't left for school yet, so he's still in WF. I run out to help him, and sure enough, somebody had torqued the nuts down with a dump-truck torque setting. Each nut required an inordinate force to break it, and 2 of the lugs had to be wrenched the entire way off of the studs, showing how the lugs themselves had distorted under the over-torque. The last stud snapped in response to the amount of force required to remove it. I installed the spare and stopped by SD and explained what had happened. It was late, and they told me I would need to come back the next day and leave it. I expected to pay for the tire (not their fault) but not the stud and lugs. I also asked them to check all the rim lug nuts, as it would seem to follow that the same idiot probably tightened all of them. They said they would take care of it, but when the bill came, they had charged me to make their mistake right. He charged me for lug nut, stud, and labor to replace. I asked Darrin about this given his guys were the ones who over-torqued them, and he said he'd pay half. I didn't argue, as you can't argue with a man who has no honor. I'm in the service biz myself, and if your actions damage a customer, that's the time you can shine, make it right, and prove you stand behind your work. Darrin did none of these things. read more

Great shop! Been in business for years. Very good prices and quick service. I thought I had a bad muffler and priced it online at $150. I went to them and they said they would let me know if it would be that much before they did any work. They called me back and explained that it wasn't the muffler but a hole in a section of the exhaust pipe. They cut out the piece and welded in a new section. Total cost: $50. Nice. read more

Fantastic service and honest work. I went there to get my exhaust fixed. Other places wanted to replace the whole pipe for $300 they fixed the bad part for $75! It as a great deal and a perfect fix for a small hole in the pipe. They fused the new part to the old part and its been a perfect fix for the past year. Also, on my Minivan, got deals on tires and suspension work. Very good prices, and nice work! read more

Just unacceptable. My truck ran hot while going to the Post Office. So I pulled into the parking lot and checked it out. Pop the hood and it was easy to see the radiator was busted and needed replacing. So called Monday and asked for a estimate. Darren called back and said $350 - $400. Brought the key by and discussed breakdown of the bill further as the truck is old 1998 so I didn't want to put a lot of money into it. Priced worked out was $357 so told him go ahead and do it probably need to replace the hoses also. So called me back later to come pick it up. Told me the bill was $642..... I was like OUCH. What happened. So we looked at it. The initial quote was for 1.5 hours @ $89/hr of labor to replace the radiator. He charged an additional .9 /hr = 54 mins labor to replace the bottom hose plus another .7/hr = 42 mins labor to change the top hose totaling 1.6/hrs to change both. Yes more labor to replace two hoses than to replace the radiator for a total of 3.1 hours of labor chargers. NO way it takes that much time to replace two hoses. He insisted that's what the computer put it in but took off some money. It was past closing time and I left just disappointed. So I got home looked at it and the hose connections are up top easily accessible that a general handy person could do it. Next day I called Darren back and explained I wasn't happy as he gave me an estimate of $350 - $400 which was close to what another business had given me plus he never called me back to say the price was going be alot higher ($642) than what he told me before doing the work. After some unpleasant words he told me to bring him a written estimate from the other place. So I brought two estimates from local businesses one total of $503 another for $515. Labor for the install of the hoses on one estimate was $20 compared to his $143. He still didn't want to take anymore off insisting he need to pay his guys. I told him plain and simple if you had of quoted me $642 when I first called I would not of had them do the work. Finally he refunded me some more money to get it done to $510 paid. I just think I should not of had to go through all of that. He made it sound like I was wrong for asking why he charged me $242 more than what he quoted me. What if this was my wife or someone who didn't know anything about auto repair? Got to be able to trust a mechanic to be fair and get it fixed right. read more

My car had a power steering leak, so I took it to these guys because the locals recommended them. After 5 days having my car, all they did was change out a switch on the p/s pump that they presumed was bad. I got my car back, and the leak remained. When I told them, the guy said it must be the whole pump then. He did not offer to fix it free of labor charge, which I found troubling, since they took 5 days to inaccurately troubleshoot from the hip by replacing a part that wasn't the real problem. I would have gladly paid for the part and had them replace it, but they wanted to add another $300 to fix what they should've fixed the first 5 days they had my car. BOOOOOOO. Make the trip to Raleigh and go to a civilized, "big city" garage with good ratings if you need work done on your car. These guys know they have the Wake Forest market cornered, and they make you feel like you're getting a deal, but it's anything but. I shouldn't have to argue and haggle with my mechanic, especially since they took their sweet time trying in vain to fix it the first go-round.
