They diagnosed the issue, gave a very reasonable price, and were able to get the repairs done in one day. Since this is the only car my parents have, it was important that they be able to get the car back as soon as possible. I called and spoke with two different associates at Firestone, and each time I was impressed with the level of customer service. Brendan and Deb are awesome! I have gone to the one they have in Clemmons a few times for an oil change and stopped because they were overturning the bolts and eroded them away making it difficult to continue maintenance. That was several years ago and hadn't had that problem since at other servicers so I was hesitant to try this place. I pulled in and a man greeted me at my car and had me pull up behind another that was currently being worked on. Then politely guided me to the waiting area while I waited for it to be inspected. It was small but clean and even offered complimentary water and coffee. It just took a bit longer than I was expecting. At my old place, it may have only taken 15-30 minutes to get my car inspected but it was closer to 45 minutes to an hour here. They didn't try to sell our uncharged me on anything though which I appreciated.

The techs have never tried to up-sell me services my cars do lot need. That's a big deal for shops like this where the fast oil change is often the loss leader to get you into the shop and sell you more lucrative services. For that reason I warily trust their techs and writers. I hope to find a regular shop for routine maintenance and repairs on my two late-model cars. I am, however, concerned whether they have qualified mechanics to perform that work. I know a little about this industry and they may have good mechanics or they may have only "technicians" given bare and inadequate training. Even if they have credentialed mechanics, do they pay well enough to keep the good ones or do they get the bottom of their tech-school classes? Again, I do not know whether this place has good, experienced mechanics and it might, but I would be careful and selective about agreeing to something other than the most basic maintenance tasks until they earn my trust.

We had the manager I believe and the manager double-checked to make sure there wasn't a leak or hole in our tire. We didn't have to pay for this service and it was great! Now the second time, another friend and I went for an oil change and a tire rotation. They gave my friend a quote, which was kinda high. I happened to notice the previous sticker in my friend's car and the car still had 2000 miles. So, I insisted on having them check the oil before charging for an oil change. They checked and said the oil change wasn't necessary. It makes me question though if they would've still charged and changed the oil despite it being okay. So, we wait in the lobby for the tire rotation. 20 minutes pass by. We see the car is docked with one guy in the bay. My friend went to ask how much time left. They had not yet started on the car and said that apparently we weren't told there was a car in front of us. We ended up being there for 45 minutes to an hour, which I realize doesn't seem long for a tire rotation wait but don't forget the namesake of the business "Express." We get the car back. When we sit in the car, we notice the wheel lock key was just placed in the cup holder. We had to go back and ask for the bag it came in bc they forgot to give it back. After driving for about 20 minutes, we see the tire pressure light come on. We call the company while on the road. I asked if they checked the tire pressure. They admitted that they forgot. I asked to speak to a manager bc after the long wait and the light coming on it was upsetting. The manager said that they asked the tech a few other questions and distracted the guy from completing our tire rotation correctly. I must admit I am confused about it bc the manager said they have a second person come and check. The manager said that the tires must be just 1-2 psi lower and to pull off the road somewhere and add air. The manager offered to look up places but that wouldn't have been helpful bc we were actively driving. The manager didn't offer any additional or free services but simply "ppl make mistakes." I agree which is why they get 3 stars but after the wait, poor communication, and additional time to find a new place to check the tire pressure it was a lot. I did a little research before and found out code 4 can mean a timing belt change needs to happen around 100k-105k miles and my honda had around 101k. When i got the printout of recommended services nothing was explained to me, or why certain things were needed. I asked about the timing belt and the person at the desk told me I have a timing chain. After leaving I did more research and called a couple other mechanics, and I do have a timing belt. and if it's not changed around 100k-105k thousand miles the belt can snap and destroy the engine! We called today to ask why they told me 1. I had a chain and 2. why none of the timing belt maintenance was added to my invoice. They couldn't really give me a straight answer and just said that they just printed out what the computer said. So if you have a honda go to somewhere that knows what the honda codes mean, and can explain to you what actually needs to be done.

I wrote a review about my experience at this location, but the experience of getting Mavis to…read morereimburse me for damages was so frustrating that I feel the need to update and share the finer details. If you don't want to read on, the short version is this: Mavis negligently caused thousands in damage to my vehicle and tried every backhanded trick in the book to avoid paying out. 1. If you are not knowledgeable about cars, this store will attempt to upsell unnecessary work and convince you that it is essential. I came into this store looking for brake pads and was all-but-coerced into $1000 of work. Is that partially my fault for not seeking a second opinion? Sure. Does it change the fact that they ripped me off? No. 2. During my visit, Mavis took six hours to do a job that ordinarily requires two. 3. While doing this job (struts and shocks), Mavis mechanics negligently used improper tools and methods causing a great deal of damage to my vehicle. This was later confirmed by another store. 4. When returning my vehicle to me, it made a comically alarming noise from the area they repaired. I demanded a ride-along and they sent a front desk staff member who attempted to gaslight me into believing that the noise was to be expected. I demanded a second ride along with the mechanic who did the work. He lied directly to my face - knowing that he had broken parts in my vehicle - and doubled down on the car being perfectly fine. In fact, my steering assembly was not intact and it was extremely dangerous for me to drive that vehicle. 5. I took the vehicle directly to the local dealership who immediately found the damages. They could even identify the incorrect tool (pickle fork) that they had used to cause some of the damage. They promptly repaired my vehicle and gave me documentation to pass to Mavis. 6. I reached out to Mavis with the documentation and they promised to reach out after completing an investigation. I waited two weeks with no response before reaching out for an update. They claimed that the regional manager attempted to call me a few days afterward and had left a voicemail. I have no missed calls or voicemails for that date. I suspect that this was an attempt to stall past the dispute deadline for my credit card. 7. After getting in touch with the regional manager on a Wednesday, he took down my story and told me he would call me back at lunch or Thursday morning. He did neither. 8. I emailed customer service on Friday asking if he would be returning my call. They verified that they had just spoken to him and a call would be forthcoming. Never came. 9. I emailed them again the following Monday morning explaining that I was either going to get a call that day or escalate the matter. They emailed back the standard, lifeless "your concerns are being taken seriously" script and once again stated that the regional manager would call me. Never came. 10. End-of-Day Monday, I send another email asking if there would be a call and demanding a higher supervisor if not. They immediately had a customer service agent call me who explained that he had no update for me, but had simply been told to call and repeat the same lifeless script. 11. I demanded that the matter be escalated to the regional manager's supervisor. Magically, associates of the regional manager suddenly have time to reach out and discuss the matter. 12. I received a call from such an associate. I was promised that I could go to the Mavis store and be immediately reimbursed for the small portion of damage they agreed to make right. Naturally, all I had to do was wait for the agent to contact the store, confirm, and call back. Never came. 13. I received another call from a new agent who contradicted the previous fellow and insisted that I take a check and that stores never pay out directly. It took them a week to mail it out and another two to arrive. The time between Mavis destroying my steering assembly and them actually reimbursing me summed to over a month and a half. They managed to weasel out of paying for the most expensive damages and I don't have the resources for court, so I'm still down thousands of dollars from this nightmare. In conclusion, this shop upsold me on unnecessary work, knowingly damaged my vehicle, then tried to play every trick in the book to push me off and not correct their mistake. I spent a week without a working vehicle, emptied a large portion of my savings, and went through a great deal of stress to even get basic contact back from their customer service.
