We found Preferred Glass & Widows through the Milgard website, as they are an authorized dealer. Their customer service is outstanding! We contacted three different companies to get quotes to replace all of our windows with Milgard Tuscany windows, replace two French doors, and add roller shades to a couple windows. From the very start, Preferred Glass stood out. Rachel was incredibly helpful and patient, answering tons of questions and keeping our job moving smoothly. Christopher came out right away to take measurements and help us decide on configurations for a few windows we were changing. His recommendations were perfect and we are so happy we went with the styles he suggested! Tyler and crew were impeccable in their attention to detail, and their work areas were always neat and clean. They were all super nice guys too! Preferred Glass's prices were competitive, but I feel we got so much more "bang for our buck" given how pleased we are with the customer service and the highest quality workmanship. We had Preferred install custom stained glass front doors. They met the lead time on the door installation date & the guys they sent to do the job were real craftsmen. The doors came out perfect. Not to mention they saved us $1000 from the quote because they were able to install the doors without breaking the surrounding stucco as was expected. They also replaced window glass with rails to match the existing install. Their work matched perfectly. They also did screens on this house & our last house & were completely reasonable. Great source for high quality cut glass. I don't have any experience purchasing or installing business or residential Windows with Preferred Glass & Windows, but I have found my new local source for custom fit glass cuts in Simi Valley. I use their glass to replace the cheap feeling Acrylic plastic computer side panels shipped with most cases with a real glass panel in my custom PC builds. With a little dremel work, It's affordable and is more convenient than ordering the same glass online branded differently as computer side panel glass. read more

Great customer service! Easy parking. Nice show room. I couldn't find replacement T-bolts for my pivot hinge glass shower door anywhere until I went here! They had a pair ready to go. When I got home they wouldn't fit. The originals were rectangular but the replacements were larger squares. I went back to Preferred Glass expecting a special order and weeks waiting. After specking with two different people one said they could do the work then the other several weeks later says I never told them I had vinyl windows. When I called in a month ago to schedule a special project I explained I needed a Vinyl window and sliding door removed and replaced. I was quoted $600 to 800 dollars. I was told to call back when I was within two weeks of date I needed the work done. All that was needed was to remove and replace an existing Fiberglass window and sliding door. But when I called to schedule the work another sales man or most likely the boss was arrogant, obnoxious and told me I was lying and never told them about the Vinyl windows. And went on and on about how impossible it is to remove vinyl windows he was just impossible so I hung and found another window company who cquoted half the price both. read more

I called to request a quote and frankly just to get the glass fixed on my front door spoke with Debi she asked me to email her pictures and measurements which I did. I called her same day to follow up she stated she would talk to supervisor and let me know in the morning. I didn't hear back so I followed up via email ( NO RESPONSE ). I'm the take care of business kind of person I would have paid whatever amount for the sake of fixing the stupid window! One of our windows needed an adjustment because it was not installed correctly by someone else (we should have had Preferred Windows install the window). I'm not sure how their finished work is but I had them come give me quote along with 4 other companies for 2 shower doors. Westlake glass, west oaks glass, duffy glass, and AA glass. Their price was over $1300 more than all the other companies and i made sure to get quoted on the same exact enclosures (thickness and height, clamps and headers etc) . I told the guy that was expensive and he said he would match or beat anyones price but why not place ur best foot fwd from the start?? Pretty much, if u don't get a few quotes and u take them for their word on their "competitive prices" you will be getting ripped off. To me that isn't a good company I would want to do business with. Very happy with their knowledge and service! I searched everywhere for a particular unusual window I wanted for the bathroom, and no one seemed to know what I wanted or was not able to install it. Finally found Tyler at Preferred who knew exactly what I was looking for, found it, and arranged installation. I'm currently remodeling 2 more bathrooms and I'm not using these losers again because of my past bad experience with my previous bathroom mirror that they installed without sealing it. Hence it started turning black on the bottom and they wouldn't replace it. That's what happens when you can't stand behind your work Preferred Glass. You lose. Using Nu-Star Glass instead and blabbing about my bad experience with your work. Every time I look at that mirror I'm reminded that I'll never use your services again. read more

I would like to thank Preferred Glass from the Simi Valley Store for sending out two Great guys to check my two Vanities that I had mirrors over them that Preferred Glass put on the walls behind them back in 2007. I'm having two new Vanities put in this week, and I was told the mirrors would have to come down and they would probably break, this was from the company that Home Depot uses, I wasn't happy to hear that, so I called Preferred Glass and Christopher came out to measure the mirrors to replace then when they were removed from the wall, Christopher was very nice to deal with. Tyler came out from Preferred Glass to take the mirrors off the walls, and I went up to see how he was doing and there was a full mirror unbroken against my dresser looking good and he was working on the other mirror taking it down. Tyler told me that when he got them back to the company, he would check it out and see if he could save both mirrors for me, but he needed to work on the back of the mirrors because of glue and they have been up on the wall since 2007. I also spoke to Allan Mak the owner and he was so nice, I told him what I thought of his two employees' on how caring they were and Tyler telling me he would try and save the mirrors if he could, we don't know if they can be saved but I'll know by the end of this week. In any case Tyler gave me a positive feeling that maybe the mirrors could be put back up after the vanities come in tomorrow. It is so nice to deal with a company that cares about helping people out if they can do it, we all know dealing with mirrors or glass can be a problem but, in any case, I would suggest to anyone that needs mirrors or whatever to contact Rachel who will guide you in the right direction at Preferred Glass, they are the best!! Pretty much an exact experience as described in Irma J's review. Steer clear or just beware you may be disappointed. I contacted PGW in Simi via their web form and got a call back from Debi. I just wanted a proposal for new shutters and a recommendation regarding our french doors. So I'm asked to send photos and measurements. Sure no problem. I take the time to send the details. After 2 days still no response, and I follow up... Now I get asked to re-explain again about the doors and my location because she couldn't remember. So after I repeat myself (this is over email btw) again no response, nothing. Not that I was very surprised, given the pattern. So basically a waste of my time. I'm a very busy person and don't have the ability to continually call and pester a company just to spend my money with them. I'm happy to give my business to someone else (which I already have), there are plenty of alternatives out there. read more

Bad experience with this place. I elevated my experience to the owner who chose to simply IGNORE my complaints. I provided a letter and several photos. They installed a piece of mirror over my sink in a bath remodel in 2013 and didn't seal the bottom correctly...water got under the mirror and it started flaking. They now refuse to take responsibility for this saying the mirror was installed BEFORE we installed the sink so it was behind the sink, which is ridiculous. How could they have measured this custom piece of glass if the sink wasn't even in yet? It was designed to fit the entire space above the sink to the ceiling, to the wall on the left, to the shower on the right and to the sink on the bottom with a hole cut for the light fixture. Because the glass in our new shower had also started badly leaking water, they did send a crew out to fix this and it appears (their words) it was never sealed correctly around the metal pieces that attached it to the bottom when it was installed on the same day as the mirror. They did reseal it while there, but the sealant was placed in an ununiform, unprofessional, bumpy manner. If I wanted it to look crappy I would have done it myself. Honestly. I'm getting my 2 other bathrooms remodeled this summer and am happy to advertise that Preferred Glass will NOT be getting my business again. Their warranty is useless no matter what they say. We waited over 10 years to have this bathroom remodeled, and work too hard for our money to choose a business that cannot accept responsibility for their failure to provide a quality end product. I would post photos if that were allowed here showing the mirror was installed level with the sink (not as they are claiming...installed behind the sink prior to the sink being installed so unable to seal) as I placed a knife on the sink and stuck it below the mirror and it stayed flat...that means it's level. read more

I bought a coffee table with a wooden top and quickly learned my dog would run across it and scratch the top. I went to Preferred Glass & Window and told Tyler I wanted a glass top for the table. He ran through my options ( didn't know there were so many options for a piece of glass! ) and he told me they would try to have it done the next day. I had a shower door that I had purchased that is a newer kind. A couple of contractors said that they couldn't do it as it was a special edition kind. So I decided to call Preferred. Tyler helped me with the order and had his people came over to install it. Am I happy or what . The installers were very professional and courteous. I debated giving this review because we used them 12 years ago for our condo and were very pleased, but like anything you are only as good as your current employees or installers in this case. First of all the process took way too long. We first put a 50% deposit in early August. It took them 3 months to install because Milgard was having issues. Then two windows came in the wrong size so had to wait another 6 weeks for those. With the rains at the end of last year we had two kitchen windows with water pouring in. They sent their guys out to check and the response was it must be a defective window so it is now Milgards problem. Finally more weeks pass and the Milgard guy comes out put some caulking and thinks he solved. So far it is ok. Why Preferred glass installers couldn't figure that out is beyond me. In the meantime one of the windows has been missing a screen from day one and we still don't have it. Today was the last straw as we opened a window we usually don't open and saw water on the track. These windows were not properly installed. I asked the owner Allan to come out and check all the windows after we had the problem with the kitchen windows. Not a peep - once they get all their money they don't give a crap. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone except my enemies. read more

have been doing business with these guys for as long as i can remember..ok maybe not that long..but for maybe 15-20 years infrequently. when I lived in N P we had them re do the windows in the entire house. they did an awesome job. fast, clean, good quality work. now that i am in Simi. i have used them to make some shelves for different curio cabinets, glass for two table tops. new shower door, new bathtub enclosure. I didnt even bother going to price things out, since i knew i liked them. they havent let me down. highly recommend them read more

Do not use this company. The owner of the company measured the window wrong so now the window will not close, leaks have destroyed the window, and it's collapsing. It's a very large window on the 2nd floor, and when his installer, who was drunk, refused to put his stool on the board I provided to be placed on the awning, the installer fell through my awning and broke it. The awning had to be replaced. Big fight with the owner. Leaks were happening downstairs that I now understand were from this window. I didn't realize that the size was originally measured wrong until another Milgard dealer told me that the reason I had a problem closing my window was because the window was too small--measured incorrectly. Now I have to pay to remove shutters that cover the window, the shutter company is no longer in business so the beautiful shutters will be ruined when they take them off, and I have to pay for a new window, as well as replacing the shutters. The walls are getting damaged, the window panels will not open, and I also have to repaint the bedroom which I've avoide due to asthma and COPD. I am furious! read more
