My wife Karen bought a Groupon for air duct cleaning, to be done by Premier Air Duct Cleaning of Munford, TN. On Tuesday February 19th 2019 Mr Tommy Ray showed up at our house, introduced himself as the CEO, explaining that his many employees were so busy that he himself had to jump in. After much bragging and embellishments (Navy Seal, GI Bill, veteran, etc.) he took a look at our HVAC system in the attic, immediately said we had mold, and that he would remediate it. What's more, because of the expensive chemical which he said was required, I would have to pay before he started. The bill was $1,127.34 which I paid by American Express (knowing this gave me recourse if it was fraud). Our small HVAC system has nine air ducts, each going from the plenum to a ceiling vent. I expected the air duct cleaning would take half a day, and adding "mold remediation" would take quite a bit longer. Instead, Tommy Ray squirted something from a Windex-size bottle into the plenum of the system, inserted the nozzle of his shop vac, ran it for 15 minutes, and said he was done. I was baffled and challenged him, pointing out that he had not touched any of our air ducts or ceiling vents. He claimed he had done so 'remotely' and turned nasty. Now I just wanted him out of the house. When I checked online I saw that Tommy Ray wasn't just trying this scam at our house: I found over 100 bad reviews on Google, 32 scathing reviews on Yelp, and 14 similar reviews on the BBB web site. He is positive there is mold and then he cut the duct line with a hole to show me inside. I was not comfortable of his damaging my duct line. I would give negative 5 stars if I could. I purchased a Groupon for Air Duct Cleaning in San Antonio, Texas. On July 31, 2020, Tommy Ray came into my home and asked where the inside air unit was located. I showed him, and he looked and said I had black mold, told me it would be $50 for the hole in my supply plenum for cleaning the ducts and then $50 per hundred square feet to treat the house with Bactroban. He told me that my 9-year-old home was past due for cleaning, and it is supposed to be performed every 18 months. He also said his "mold retardation" has a 2 year warranty. He said that he would suck out the duct work through the hole he made in the supply plenum. He said I had a discount because my brother is a first responder, and charged my credit card $900. I asked why he wasn't cleaning the vents, and he said that Texas has vents that are poor quality and that he was going to suck everything out through the hole he made in the supply plenum. I asked to see into these poor quality air-exchange vents, and he said that I'd have to go up the ladder, and that I couldn't tell his wife if he had to "catch" me. I assured him that I climb on ladders all of the time. He made a hole in my supply plenum and sprayed Fabuloso into the drain that goes outside. I asked him what it was, and he said it was Bactroban and that it would go throughout my ductwork and get rid of the mold. I said it smelled like Fabuloso, and he proceeded to tell me that it smells like lemon when his wife cleans. He said this Bactroban is mixed with something lavender, thus the smell. He said it smells like lavender to him and I brought him a bottle of the Dollar Tree floor cleaner that I use, and it smells exactly the same. The drain line goes straight outside, so I am not sure who he was trying to fool with this tactic. When he went outside to get his vacuum cleaner to suck out everything he said would be dissolved from what he put into THE DRAIN LINE, I looked him up on the BBB. He had 26 complaints. He was telling me to come up to see the ductwork through the attic, and I let him know that I'd seen the complaints on BBB, and that there were 26. He became defensive, and said well, Groupon has me on 4-stars. He told me to read a complaint. I read a complaint with his name on it, and he became very flustered. He began to raise his voice at me in a threatening manner, and said I will refund your money. Bye. I asked to see the ducts, and he was already heading down the stairs. I immediately called Schmidt Mechanical Group to repair the hole he made in the Supply Plenum. I then called Alamo Steam Team, who have an A+ as a BBB rating. They will come in to give me a referral on Monday, August 3, 2020. I then called my Discover Card, and I am awaiting word of whether the "pending" will drop off or go through. If the charge does go through, I have been instructed to call back and ask for a return on the charge. I expect that the pending $900 charge should go back to my account. I have already received a refund for the Groupon from Groupon, a very reputable company. Bill Eddy, from Schmidt Mechanical Group, came in to check the supply plenum for mold, and he showed me what is inside of the air plenum is made of. It is made of an antimicrobial, mold-retardant material, and he assured me that if I had any mold, it would be inside of the plenum before it reached the ducts. He further explained that gas units normally do not get mold in them. Mr. Eddy patched up the hole in the plenum and used another mold retarding material to seal up the hole. My cost was $50, and I was fortunate that they sent someone out within 2 hours of the hole being made. I would have been losing air through the hole. He said the mold on the OUTSIDE of the unit was from condensation and was normal. He said to clean it with Lysol. I feel so much better that I did not go all the way through with the suctioning of the air plenum, which would have done absolutely nothing. Please, do NOT do business with Premium Air Duct Cleaning. Complete scam. They literally put a air compressor in your vents and hook a shop vac up to the other end and claim that its cleaning the duct work. You could do this yourself. Purchased the Groupon which covers nothing. They charge an additional $10 for every vent and $15 for every intake vent. The tech did NOTHING with the intake vents, he didn't clean them or anything. I am writing because I had a very bad experience with a company located in Munford Tennessee. The company's name is premier air duct and I don't know their street address because it is not listed on their website but when I viewed it using my mobile phone it gave me a location button and when I pressed it it took me to 342 Hannah Marie Dr Munford Tennessee 38058 but Google Maps shows a picture of a residential home for this address. So I really don't know where the business is located or if it has a physical location. Their website address is www.premierairduct.com. Their phone number is 800-679-2189 and 901-361-4849. The technician who completed the service was named Tommy and he called me from 901-674-1428. The problem that I have is that I purchased an air duct cleaning service from them that was completed on Saturday 10/17/15. They made me pay for the service which was $400 before they would start. When they finished I reached my hand down into the air duct and pulled out a handful of dirt. They said that they would do another vacuum job on it but even after they did that a second time I reach my hand down again and there was still dirt. I explained that I was not satisfied and that they did not go all the way through the vent system, rather they only cleaned what could be seen when you remove the vent.(vents were removed prior to their arrival) They pretty much told me too bad and that that is the best that they are going to do period. They quickly left to go to their next appointment. I took pictures of the inside of the vents with my phone and sent an email with the pictures attached to the company as we had been corresponding previously through email. I never received a response from them. It is not the service that was listed on their website and I feel that they have fraudulently represented themselves and the service that they offer. They also unnecessarily cut a vent hole in my air duct. They said this was to draw suction but the same effect could have been achieved by putting the shop vac into the vent hole they were working out of rather than cutting it. Bought my house 2 years ago and figured it would be good to get the air ducts cleaned. So, found one on Groupon that had a lot of positive reviews and bought it. I made an appointment with Premier Air Duct via email and made the appointment for Nov 21st at noon. Someone from the company texts me at 10am saying that he is on his way and is about 15 mins away. Luckily, I could leave my meeting and go home to open the door for him. So, Tommy (the owner) shows up and he tells me that his employees were out and that's why he is taking care of the appointments. He mentioned that he was in the military and since then started this business. He goes up and checks the vent and says that there is mold and he cannot do anything about it unless I pay $30 per square foot to clean up the mold. I panic as I know mold is bad and immediately I shell out $590 to get rid of the mold and get my ducts cleaned. By this point, the Groupon is not even mentioned. He also said in the southern US, every residential and commercial air vent will have some harmless mold present due to the humid climate. The bottom line is buyer beware. The guy went up into my attic where my unit is and pretends to take photos of my unit. He then proceeds to show me a picture of a completely different unit than mine stating that we have a mold issue. I should have listened to my instincts and gone up into the attic myself to look at the unit but I was home alone and didn't feel comfortable getting up in the attic with this stranger. He then basically gets out this industrial sized vacuum to suck out the dust and debris (I'm paying $450 for this?!). After he left, I went up and looked at our unit only to figure out that the unit in the picture he showed me was totally different. Our unit is basically brand new and still looks new. The picture he is using is obviously a unit from an older home with an OLDER unit. Please do not fall for this scam! I honestly do not know how these people are still in business let alone how they can live with themselves knowing they scam the hell out of people. read more

I would definitely NOT use his company. I am not someone who makes compainsts, but this was worth complaining. We had them out to clean our dryer vent. Their website clearly states that the basic service is $59 and our home met he criteria for basic service. However, after the technicians cleaned the vent, the charge was $119. Someone from the company called me back (while the techs were still here) and left a curt message stating that our dryer vent had a lot of lint and a birds nest, so the charge would be $119. No where on their website info did it state that if they removed a lot that there will be an additional charge. They finished in about 15 minutes. We were also told over the phone that the techs could install a cover to keep the birds out, but the techs told us they do not carry them on the van. Their website is very misleading. read more

Its a rip off!!!! Don't buy the Groupon!!! Same as they did to the others, tore a hole in my duct work, turned off the lights in my basement stuck a small flashlight in there and said It was black, I looked it was silver the color of my duct work and I only saw some dust, even stuck my finger and had to rub the side of the duct work to get some dust on it and showed them it was only dust. He said there shouldn't be any dust in the duct work. Hummmm theres dust in my house the house its 15 years old. Then he wanted to look in the vents in the kitchen, the most mopped room in my house, the metal vent that connected to the duct work had some rust, but only in the kitchen, then he said he had to treat the ducting for moisture because of the rust!!! There was not moisture it was from mopping! I took him to the formal dining room there was not rust, there was glue coming down the side from were the contractor glued and nailed the vent work in, he tired to say that was rust it was not I have pictures you can clearly see it is glue . Then he told me it would cost and additional $660 and they would not do anything unless I paid them that amount!!!!! I asked for his reason i writing which of course they wouldn't give me, said they would email it, didn't do that either!!! Wish I would have looked here before I bought the Groupon, but there about as crooked as this company! I tried to cancel the Groupon immediately after reading the reviews was on hold forever then they just laid the phone down and typed and hung up, so a week or so later I emailed them and they said it was to late to cancel, I hadn't used it!
