My kids actually enjoy coming here, which says a lot! The staff is incredibly patient and accommodating, especially with little ones like my youngest who aren't the biggest fans of cleanings. They take their time, communicate clearly, and create an environment that feels safe and supportive. Everything runs so smoothly--it's truly a well-oiled machine. Even the team members behind the scenes who handle texts, scheduling, and rescheduling are responsive and kind, which I really appreciate as a busy mom. I honestly wish I could come here as an adult! More than anything, I love that they're not just providing a service--they're helping teach my kids lifelong habits around dental hygiene in such a positive way. Grateful for this team and the care they provide!

However the three stars knocked off because the front desk is extremely rude. Right when you walk in, they ignore you and point to a kiosk to check in and don't make eye contact like they are avoiding you on purpose. Mind you I've only been here twice. And each visit was the same. They also NEVER answer their phone calls even if you leave a voice mail. Their main form of communication is text message. They reschedule through text and answer any questions through text. Also last time I checked out, one of the ladies at the front desk (couldn't catch her name) was talking to her coworker in front of me for like a good 3 minutes and it was completely unrelated to my visit. I felt like I was a burden burdening their conversation, and she asked me with the most annoyed tone if I was free a month out after they were done. Not "hi, I can help you right here" or "did you get everything you needed today?" Like I'm burdening you with your 3 minutes of conversation? The picture even says please DO NOT CALL. please tell me this a joke? What's the point of having a receptionist if I'm burdening them and they don't want to speak to customers? Text is NOT a professional form of communication.

Finding a dentist for an autistic child can be incredibly difficult, and after our previous…read moretraumatic experience, I was honestly terrified to bring my daughter to another dental clinic. From the very first phone call, Salvador was kind, patient, helpful, and accommodating. When we arrived at the clinic, he treated us with the same warmth and compassion. At no point did I feel pressured or forced into any treatment. That alone made a huge difference for our family. Dr. Regina was equally amazing. She welcomed my daughter with kindness and met her where she was instead of expecting her to immediately cooperate. Rather than forcing an exam, she earned my daughter's trust. The clinic's playhouse was such a thoughtful touch. My daughter loves playhouses, so she naturally gravitated toward it, and Dr. Regina was able to meet and examine her there. She cried a little, but it was nothing like the fear and panic she had experienced before. Our previous experience at another dental clinic ( Coastal Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics in Otay Mall) that claimed to accomodate autistic children was heartbreaking. My daughter was held down, forced to open her mouth, and had a metal mouth prop placed to keep it open while she screamed for help. I was instructed to hold her down, and I left that appointment with scratches on my arms and emotional trauma that I still carry. Before we even got started, the covering dentist's first comment was, "Put her in a room," despite the clinic knowing that enclosed spaces are a major trigger for my daughter. Instead of trying to understand her needs, they quickly decided she was "impossible" and referred us for sedation. I later reached out to the clinic and even left a review, but no one ever contacted us or apologized. Since then, every dental visit has been filled with fear for my daughter. That is why today's experience at Children's Primary Dental meant so much to me. Thank you, Salvador, Dr. Regina, and the entire team at Children's Primary Dental for treating my daughter with the patience, dignity, compassion, and respect she deserves. You showed us that dental care for autistic children doesn't have to involve fear, force, or trauma. It can be built on trust, understanding, and meeting each child where they are. To any parent of an autistic child who has been searching for a dental provider that truly understands neurodivergent children, I wholeheartedly recommend Children's Primary Dental. This clinic gave our family hope again, and for that, I will always be grateful.

Right after a terrible first & last experience at a different "pediatric" dental clinic, I gave…read moreSouth Bay Pediatric Dental Group a call. I asked the receptionist how they would approach my son now that he was so traumatized by how the last clinic treated him, and I felt reassured in my son being able to find joy again at the dentist with how she walked me through their approach. So confident that I think our first visit was just a few days after the traumatizing visit at the other practice. We did some acclimation visits which were ALL on happy notes. Now, my son happily goes to the chair on his own, is not afraid of any instruments, giggles and chats with the hygienists and techs - and it only took just a few visits. His first visit was in January. Second was in February and he was still getting warmed up. I think it was his 3rd visit in March that really got the ball rolling. I don't remember how many in total he has been to between March and now May m, but I will say that it has been a complete night and day transformation. He is so receptive to trying new things at the dentist now. The staff really knows how to be personable with kids instead of rushing them. I have already recommended this practice to all my mom friends because of how much faith I have in this team in repairing my son's relationship with dental professionals.

I brought my daughter in for what was supposed to be a routine cleaning. I was asked to sign a form beforehand that was presented as standard for the visit, but it now appears it may have been used as broad consent for additional procedures. After the cleaning, Dr. Pacofsky told me my daughter had no cavities and that her teeth were healthy. The only recommendation discussed with me was sealants, which I agreed to. Before any work was done, I confirmed with the front desk that there would be no cost associated with the sealants. At no point was I informed of any other procedures or asked to consent to anything beyond that. Later, I received a bill showing that additional procedures--resin composite fillings--had been performed on two of my daughter's teeth. I never authorized this treatment, and it was never discussed with me. This is especially concerning since I was explicitly told my daughter had no decay. When I followed up with Dr. Pacofsky, he acknowledged that the work was done for staining, not cavities, and admitted that this was not clearly communicated or documented ahead of time. He also stated that resin composite was billed because there is no billing code for "preventive resin," despite the significant difference in how such procedures are processed by insurance. As a result, my insurance was billed for a procedure typically used to treat decay--something my daughter did not have--which raises serious concerns about overbilling and billing practices. I was also told by Dentist Todd that the front desk was unaware of the additional procedure because it had not been annotated in his notes. Despite being told the charges would be removed by Dentist Todd, I have yet to receive confirmation or resolution. As a parent, I expect clear communication and the opportunity to give informed consent before any procedure is performed on my child. That did not happen here. I would strongly advise other parents to avoid this dental office or make sure to ask detailed questions, request clear treatment plans in writing, and ensure they fully understand and approve any procedures before treatment begins.

My son's appointment was scheduled for 1:30 p.m., and we arrived at 1:20 p.m., as most offices recommend checking in 10-15 minutes early. At check-in, no one informed us that the office was running behind or that there would be a significant delay. We were not called back until approximately 2:30 p.m.--an hour after the scheduled appointment time. Once we were seated in the treatment room, we waited another 20 minutes while the dentist finished with another patient. I expected my son to be seen next, but instead, the dentist began treating another child. At that point, after already waiting well over an hour, we decided to leave rather than continue waiting with no idea of when we would actually be seen. The most frustrating part was the complete lack of communication. No one apologized for the delay, provided updates, or gave us an estimated wait time. After we left, I expected at least a phone call acknowledging what happened, offering an explanation, apologizing, or attempting to reschedule the appointment. None of that happened. I also work in healthcare and I understand that unexpected delays can occur in healthcare, but clear communication and consideration for patients' time are essential. Unfortunately, this experience felt extremely inconvenient, inconsiderate, and like a complete waste of our afternoon. I hope the office improves its scheduling practices and communication so other families don't have a similar experience.
