The service was good but I think they were getting a little impatient because I didn't know what to order! We ended up with one matcha frap float, one matcha soft serve and 1 strawberry matcha. If you are lactose you can get a matcha but they don't have alternative options that are non-dairy for the foam or the soft serve.
The lady at the counter is so sweet and patient explaining things to us. This is delicious! I need to bring the rest of the family. I'd be back if in the area
Been coming here for a long time. Usually once a month. Bummer to see the price increase since the menu was already on the pricier side, but happy to see the membership reward program. $5 off for every $100 spent if I understand it correctly. I saw a sign the says the membership program replaced the old VIP card. I've been coming here for years but never heard of the VIP card. No idea what it is and I feel like I missed out. Anything with ice cream is generally a safe choice here. I always go for the seasonal swirl flavor, and it's consistently good. The bear is cute for photos, but beyond that, it's nothing special and not really worth the extra cost in my opinion. The only bad thing I've had here was one of their matcha lattes. It was disappointing enough that I haven't ordered a drink here since. They have a few tables inside, and it can get pretty busy. If you dine in, you'll constantly see people trying to use the restroom without realizing it requires a password. When it's packed, I usually just take my order to my car. A reliable matcha spot! They have a great variety of options, including seasonal items. I love all of their soft serves and cones (for my egg allergy folks, the waffle cone is egg-free, which is pretty rare). The mixed swirl of vanilla and matcha is my favorite. The lattes and floats are also excellent, very strong matcha flavor without being too bitter. Seating is limited, but tables turn over quickly, so I've never had to wait too long. Overall, this is my go-to matcha shop. Chill vibe, but since it's crowded most of the time, I wouldn't sit there for a long time.

My favorite cafe for anything matcha! I have tried their soft serve before which is always consistent. This last time I got their latte and wow it was the perfect drink! It's pretty sweet but that's what I prefer and has to try their strawberry one too. I do like the original more since the strawberry foam was more syrup in taste. Service is great, they're always quick with it, never really a line and plenty of seatings indoors their back space. They open late so it's a perfect dessert cafe.

Premium Matcha Cafe has become my special treat destination. My favorite combo is cherry blossom soft-serve with the frozen matcha bear on top. Watching the bear get eaten and slowly melt to its demise is more enjoyable than I'd imagined. Great kind staff and coffee shop vibes.
Love the strong matcha flavor in their softserve! Lots of enticing options and combos from drinks to parfaits with delicious toppings but the star was for sure the softserve. We got a swirl with half Ube and half Matcha. The Matcha was perfect but the Ube was a tad too sweet for me. Texture was nice and creamy.

I wound up going for their seasonal cone flavor which was peach and was quite refreshing and tasty. They have a wide assortment of menu options and types of match dessert to choose from. They use a buzzer system and have seating in the back to accommodate maybe 6-8 groups. The atmosphere is well lit and clean. Definitely appears to attract a bit of a younger crowd.

Always my favorite matcha cafe in Portland. I really enjoy the premium quality of the matcha mixed vanilla soft serve, mochi, chest nut, clear jelly, redbean & cereal. Also, try out their new strawberry shaved ice & hot matcha with foam topped strawberry. It made me felt like I visiting Japan. The decor is cozy with some traditional decor. Clean bathroom. Matcha Cafe Maiko is usually my go-to for green tea treats, but I decided to mix things up and try their Taro Soft Serve with Cheese Cream, and it definitely delivered! * Flavor & Texture: The taro soft serve had a rich, earthy sweetness and a super smooth texture. * The Cheese Cream: The thick layer of cheese foam was creamy, slightly savory, and added a great salty-sweet contrast that cut through the richness of the taro. Overall: It's a bit rich towards the very end, but if you're a fan of taro or cheese foam teas, this combo in soft-serve form is worth trying. I've been wanting to come check this place out for a while and finally came on a random Thursday afternoon. They have their own parking lot which is nice. The shop was bigger than I thought since there is an open area right when you walk in with a self-order kiosk and also an ordering counter. There was a large room in the back with lots of seating options. There was only one person working there and there was a good flow of customers so she did seem a little overwhelmed. We got the special of that time the Sakura and Matcha swirl with all the fixings and it was so creamy, fragrant, and delicious! You can definitely taste the high quality ingredients which matches their pricing. They do offer lots of other items including drinks and a cool matcha bear too. I'm hoping to be back to try more things. read more

Cafe Maiko is located in a small plaza in the southeast Portland, so there is a bit of parking in the shared lot. I recently visited New York City and went to Cafe Maiko, so when I was in Portland, I had to come back to get their soft serve ice cream! I ordered the mixed soft serve ice cream in a cup. It was matcha and ube! The matcha flavor was stronger than the ube one. Both good though. I love the texture of soft serve ice cream. It was pretty busy at the time we arrived on Sunday afternoon. The line to order went by fast and the items were coming out just as fast. read more
4.3 stars. First time trying Cafe Maiko, and I love it! I didn't even know Seattle had a store but closed down now! The serving sizes are decent, and the flavors are good. We got the ube and matcha soft serve and the parfait. They were both delicious. I loved the crispy texture in the parfait with the ice cream, and the ube complimented the matcha well. One con I do have is that there's only one bathroom, so the line can get rather long when it gets busy. Favorite place for all things matcha! First time coming here on Mothers Day! I'm sad I didn't discover this place sooner. We loved it so much we went back for more the next day, and let me tell you, we drove 30 minutes for this place. The ratings are accurate on here. Yay- another place from the Bay Area has now made its way to PDX! This is my favorite place for a matcha drink (so far). We've been to a lot of boba spots, but I am a fan of their matcha quality. Just a tad sweet and more bitter, just how I like it. You can really taste the quality of the powder/tea. Other places, the matcha drinks are too sweet or watered down. We've tried their iced matcha, matcha frappe, matcha ice cream in a waffle cone, and matcha with jelly. The matcha ice cream and frappe are so deliciously creamy, oh my. Warning: you may get addicted! It's creamy but isn't overly sweet. My daughter loves it! I'm not supposed to have dairy, but I treated myself to that frappe and thoroughly enjoyed my treat. If you're allergic to dairy, I suggest getting the iced matcha drink. They can't substitute for milk alternatives, so that's a good option. I like that they feature new flavors for a limited time to keep things fun and interesting. I can't wait for their ube items to come back! This is a popular spot though. Been here before and it's always very good. Not a big fan of matcha actually so I usually get their vanilla cone or I love when they have the seasonal taro stuff! The handmade cone is so good, sweet and comforting and you get a pretty big come for the price. Such a cute and welcoming store with plenty of seating in the back, can get very busy but the service is always quick. Overall I really love it here! read more

I love this shop! Their matcha soft serve is consistent and there's a seating area that's always busy with groups of friends hanging out! The last few times we've been, the staff had a lot of orders to get through and there were only two people working so it can take a little bit of time especially on a weekend. I've been to a bunch of different locations but for some reason I only ever get their soft serve and it's always so good! I don't come in often but I only ever see just matcha at this store. SF Japantown and Honolulu always had fun additional flavors. One of the favorites I've tried was hojicha so hope they bring it here some time!! We'd definitely be incentivized to pop in more often if they had rotating flavors, but for now we'll get a matcha soft service every now and then! read more
I have been looking for an alternative to Starbucks' matcha latte with strawberry foam for a while (cause they suck) and cafe Maiko didn't disappoint. The phone was thick for the first few sips, but very fresh tasting. After stirring it, I could taste the drink and the foam which made a great combination. I recommend using the straw for stirring and the open lid for sipping the straw afterwards I love the decor, wish I could've drank for here. Prices pretty reasonable, nothing over $10. They had samples of their matcha soft serve and cheese ice cream that didn't disappoint. I wished there was one closer. I was the first customer and my drink was finished by the time I was back from the bathroom and the matcharista (idk lol) Had such kind service. Starbucks could never read more

This tea is delicious and a nice place to sit a relax with good friends or family. The strawberry foam matcha latte was perfectly balanced with sweetness and matcha flavor. My daughter ordered the matcha cream and as she is the expert on matcha places, I would definitely recommend this. The customer service was amazing, everybody working there was sweet, friendly, and didn't mind answering lots of questions about the menu item names, what the differences were, and what their recommendations were. It was indoor seating area with several tables to enjoy the desert app, and don't forget that studio one movie theater is just next-door so it's the perfect place for a date. read more
I love to come here for the desserts over their drinks, which have gotten pricier. I got the new peach frozen yogurt which was really yummy and had a rich peach flavor. The matcha here is decent when you first get it, but after the ice melts a bit, it starts to taste fishy/seaweedy. I ended up tossing my drink after I left. read more

Order at the counter, 100's of options, maybe too many. We each had a dish of their swirl. Just tasted ok, I'm not sure what I expected! Service is fantastic, when you order your given a small call device to let you know when your order is ready, fast and efficient. Everything on the menu is extremely expensive, but what isn't, but come on its ice cream. I'm not sure if I'll go back, but I might, I like the Chinese food next door. I first had this in Hawai'i and I've been craving it since then. This location has plenty of parking and decent amount of seating. The staff are very friendly and nice. They also made the orders quick. I got the Maiko Special and it was so good! The soft serve (mix of matcha and ube) was so delicious and smooth! The creaminess complimented the other stuff in it. The mochi, chestnuts, red beans, and matcha chiffon were all delicious! I could eat it all day! read more

Best matcha I've ever had: period. I've been here once before and always try to come whenever I'm in the area. This location can be a bit hidden but it's in a shopping center behind an auto shop and next to a small theater. Parking can be limited, especially during the summer. It can be quite hard to find. Luckily, we found parking. The cafe has a contemporary vibe, with a few Japanese accents and decor hung around. My cousin and I took a minute to take a look at the menu. They have it posted on the side of the counter and some laminated by the wall counter. We decided to order using the tablet they have. We chose 4 items: the Mochi bumper w ice cream, with a mix of sesame ice cream, matcha cream, matcha bear, and the matcha chocolate cream. You are able to customize it anyway you like with toppings and substitute milk. My total came out to $41 including tip. The cafe had a few people inside, with some people periodically coming in every now and then. There is plenty of seating. During late spring, it can get really packed, to the point where you can't get a table. The server called out our number. She was very friendly and polite. Our drinks were ready in about 15 minutes. I was so excited for the matcha bear! It is made of actual matcha ice cream. I believe they make a mold out of it. The first sip was heavenly and out of the world. I enjoyed every single item. I absolutely loved how my hojicha latte came unsweetened by default, as this is the most authentic way to serve it. Its nutty bitterness was complimented by the ice cream perfectly. I was very blown away by everything we tasted, but my eyes were not as impressed. The space could use an update in the way of lighting. You don't get any natural light and the overhead is a bit fluorescent which to some is a bit unsettling. There is no outside seating. They are one renovation and a few ambient lamps away from being a staple! The service was great nonetheless and I would absolutely return for another treat- to go read more
My half Japanese companion was craving matcha ice cream. I was yelping and saw this place which got great reviews. The matcha soft serve photo got us. It is located in a strip mall, very usual for it to be in there. I was quite surprised that the place was bigger than I thought. It has plenty of seats. It is a local hangout for folks to study or as they call it, "the 3rd living room." The matcha soft serve was delicious. Just the right amount, however a bit pricey at $7. the space is so cute in here. very ambient but it was rather busy when i went in. i ordered the mochi bumper , which felt like a good sampler of everything. mochi was soft , and balanced well with the matcha ube icecream and cake. free wifi is a plus! read more

Do they have any vegan/dairy-free options, or are they still not vegan friendly?
You can get non-dairy milk added to the latte drinks. There's also "Uji-Kintoki" which you can get (just ask to not have condensed milk added). It's a shaved ice dessert with mochi and red bean.
