Been here twice in a week. It's so good. This months special flavor is lychee and it pairs with the matcha soft serve so well. Friendly staff and efficient service. Crazy busy on hot summer weekends and more chill during the week.

Been coming here for a long time. Usually once a month. Bummer to see the price increase since the menu was already on the pricier side, but happy to see the membership reward program. $5 off for every $100 spent if I understand it correctly. I saw a sign the says the membership program replaced the old VIP card. I've been coming here for years but never heard of the VIP card. No idea what it is and I feel like I missed out. Anything with ice cream is generally a safe choice here. I always go for the seasonal swirl flavor, and it's consistently good. The bear is cute for photos, but beyond that, it's nothing special and not really worth the extra cost in my opinion. The only bad thing I've had here was one of their matcha lattes. It was disappointing enough that I haven't ordered a drink here since. They have a few tables inside, and it can get pretty busy. If you dine in, you'll constantly see people trying to use the restroom without realizing it requires a password. When it's packed, I usually just take my order to my car. There's plenty of parking in the plaza, but it's shared with other businesses, so it fills up quickly, and the spaces are pretty tight.

Ube soft serve with mochi

Came in and by the time we ordered, every table was full! My kids loved their matcha soft serve with mochi and also their ube soft serve. So glad we have one of these in Oregon - we love the Waikiki location! Caution in the parking lot, spaces are tight.

Maiko special with Ube and Matcha

We've been going here for years and it's definitely our favorite dessert place! My go to is always the Maiko special where it has a mixture of jellies and cake bites with a swirl of soft serve on top. Depending on the seasonal flavors, sometimes I will get the mix. My favorites are the Sakura and the Ube flavor when it's in season.

A reliable matcha spot! They have a great variety of options, including seasonal items. I love all of their soft serves and cones (for my egg allergy folks, the waffle cone is egg-free, which is pretty rare). The mixed swirl of vanilla and matcha is my favorite. The lattes and floats are also excellent, very strong matcha flavor without being too bitter. Seating is limited, but tables turn over quickly, so I've never had to wait too long. Overall, this is my go-to matcha shop. Chill vibe, but since it's crowded most of the time, I wouldn't sit there for a long time.

Cafe Maiko is located in a somewhat busy shopping center in Richmond. Upon walking in, we were greeted with friendly faces and asked if we had any questions to let them know. Their menu has many delicious items and different ways for you to try their premium matcha. After I placed my order, we were seated for a couple of minutes before we were buzzed that all of our items were ready... As we sat down to enjoy our order, we couldn't believe how tasty everything was Cafe Maiko exceeded my expectations! If you are in the area, you should stop by. You won't be disappointed

My favorite cafe for anything matcha! I have tried their soft serve before which is always consistent. This last time I got their latte and wow it was the perfect drink! It's pretty sweet but that's what I prefer and has to try their strawberry one too. I do like the original more since the strawberry foam was more syrup in taste. Service is great, they're always quick with it, never really a line and plenty of seatings indoors their back space. They open late so it's a perfect dessert cafe.

RIP my Bear. You were delicious.

As soon as I saw the matcha ice bear sitting on top of soft serve matcha, I knew I had to try this place. When I finally made it, it was worth every penny. Premium Matcha Cafe has become my special treat destination. My favorite combo is cherry blossom soft-serve with the frozen matcha bear on top. Watching the bear get eaten and slowly melt to its demise is more enjoyable than I'd imagined. Great kind staff and coffee shop vibes.

Mix Softserve
Ploy N.

Love the strong matcha flavor in their softserve! Lots of enticing options and combos from drinks to parfaits with delicious toppings but the star was for sure the softserve. We got a swirl with half Ube and half Matcha. The Matcha was perfect but the Ube was a tad too sweet for me. Texture was nice and creamy.

As someone who isn't classically a huge match fan I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. We came in on a Thursday evening and luckily it was not super busy but I'm told it can fill in quickly and often has a line. I wound up going for their seasonal cone flavor which was peach and was quite refreshing and tasty. They have a wide assortment of menu options and types of match dessert to choose from. They use a buzzer system and have seating in the back to accommodate maybe 6-8 groups. The atmosphere is well lit and clean. Definitely appears to attract a bit of a younger crowd.

Signature Maiko - I think that's the name

Went back to Matcha Cafe Maiko recently & enjoyed it. Their menu is still quite large and can be overwhelming, but I think the way to go is a soft serve plus a topping or two. The matcha flavor is obviously a must, but their seasonal flavors are quite good too (watermelon, yuzu, ube, hojicha, etc). It's a popular spot so there may be a wait and seating may fill up. It's counter-service and bus yourself. They have a parking lot but it also gets busy.

Belldandy O.

Cafe Maiko is located in a small plaza in the southeast Portland, so there is a bit of parking in the shared lot. I recently visited New York City and went to Cafe Maiko, so when I was in Portland, I had to come back to get their soft serve ice cream! I ordered the mixed soft serve ice cream in a cup. It was matcha and ube! The matcha flavor was stronger than the ube one. Both good though. I love the texture of soft serve ice cream. It was pretty busy at the time we arrived on Sunday afternoon. The line to order went by fast and the items were coming out just as fast.

4.3 stars. First time trying Cafe Maiko, and I love it! I didn't even know Seattle had a store but closed down now! The serving sizes are decent, and the flavors are good. We got the ube and matcha soft serve and the parfait. They were both delicious. I loved the crispy texture in the parfait with the ice cream, and the ube complimented the matcha well. One con I do have is that there's only one bathroom, so the line can get rather long when it gets busy. The tables weren't the cleanest as it's a self-clean, walk up and order establishment.

Delicious dessert hot and cold treats and matcha drinks are very good and authentic. Friendly service and very welcoming, Taiyaki very interestingly is more of a mochi dough like texture than regular waffle dough texture, I could be wrong but it crispy crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just enough pull that I thought was eating mochi or dango. This was a surprise and very good! (Again I could be wrong) Pricing and size both check off as affordable and competitive to other shave ice or bingsu places, can't beat matcha and ube together in one bowl! 10/10 will come again!

Almost didn't make it, we were stuck at a train for like 20 min's! I didn't give up and made it. The person helping me was friendly and explained what it was that they sell. I thought it was shaved ice.... But it's not, it's shaved milk! What..... I didn't even know that was a thing. They even have some special machine, the milk mixture is liquid and frozen and shaved to order. The texture was great, nice and soft/fluffy. I got the ube, without red beans. The homemade ube ice cream was very good but a different texture. I'm wondering what it is made out of. I liked it. The texture was more pudding like, less like standard ice cream. You can get it to go. It seemed to melt slightly fast, not a bad thing. I got a small, and it was big for me. A very good amount. They have three size options. The flavors were great, there was some coconut too. A great option for a frozen treat, delicious!

It handful of tables inside with a nice covered patio outside. The vibes were great... until they weren't. We greeted our waiter with "Mabuhay" in which he replied, "What?" confused- it's literally painted on the wall my guy. Crazy way to start dinner. Food came out impossibly slow. The restaurant wasn't full so I'm not too sure why it took as long as it did. They didn't mention coursing it out so we assumed they did. Drinks were all on point, everyone loved the Filipino inspired cocktails. Ube Colada was the table's fave. We ordered a bunch of things: 2 Skewers of the Bistek [$12 each], 4 Skewers of BBQ Pork [$10 each]. Bistek could have used a little more lemon/citrus as Bistek is known to be a little sour but the steak was amazingly juicy and tender. BBQ Pork always hits, super good! Did the Pancit Bihon [$17], it was "okay," have had better. Sisig [$17] was good as well, like the "pork bits" different way of prepping the dish. Diniguan [$27] as my most favorite part of the meal. I was sooo impressed with how that one came out. Loved that dish so much. Such an innovative way of presenting the dish. It was pork chop (cut up) with diniguan sauce on top (not drenched) with shishito peppers. OMG mouthwatering. LOVE that dish. Vibes were high until we asked where the other dish was which was the Lechon Manok [$27]. Our waiter kind of gave us an attitude saying that it was coming & that it took a while to prep. Mind you we ordered everything at the same time. That wasn't even it. The chicken came out we were cutting it, and then he saw us kind of struggle a bit, so he took the chicken and started tearing it apart with his hands... That should have already been a red flag. He said his hand were clean. Then he comes back like literally 10 minutes later asking if we wanted a box. Bro, the chicken barely came out give us time to enjoy the chicken you tore apart. He asked if it was good & we said it was 'alright.' Cause it was. Wasn't impressed with that dish at all. He left us alone for a bit and then came back saying, "I feel like I'm not doing enough, do you guys need anything?" If you were bored, just say that. Whatever, he lost us at that point. We saw him smoking outside, so hopefully his hands were clean. The food was great, the service was whatever.

There were 4 adults, 2 small children, a full table and no self control. The cocktails were incredible, and the staff was so thoughtful they even split a mocktail for the kids, who felt very fancy and important because of it. We ordered sushi, fried rice, bao buns, lobster rolls, steak tartare, duck, scallops, sliders, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, dumplings, fries... honestly, if it was on the menu, there's a decent chance it landed on our table. By the end we were so full that dessert never stood a chance. The only thing none of us cared for was the Dynamite Roll. The warm creamy crab topping just wasn't our thing. There were also a few dishes I'm glad we tried but probably wouldn't order again--the Peking duck, bao buns, and tableside fried rice. Now for the stars of the show. The STEAK TARTARE. I order steak tartare every chance I get. I've had it all over and make it at home. This was hands down the best steak tartare I've ever eaten. Not "best in Portland." Not "best recently." Best ever. Next time I'm ordering one for the table and one for myself because sharing was a mistake. The hamachi crispy rice was absolutely divine. The King Salmon Roll was fantastic. The fries were somehow memorable enough that I'm mentioning fries in a restaurant review, which feels important. The kids loved their avocado rolls, and the staff happily accommodated their requests. Overall, Janken nailed it. Great food, amazing drinks, wonderful service, and somehow managed to make dining out with two little kids feel easy. I'm already planning to come back for my birthday. This time I'm determined to save room for dessert, try more sushi, and finally enjoy an entire order of steak tartare without having to fend off family members with my fork.

We spent nearly $400 on dinner and expected a much higher level of service and communication. We ordered several dishes, and while most of the food arrived, the last two dishes never came. We waited over 30-40 minutes with no updates from the staff. No one checked on us or informed us of any delay,we had to ask multiple times ourselves. What made the experience even more frustrating was that we noticed another couple who arrived after us. Their food continued to come out promptly, and staff checked on them several times throughout their meal. Meanwhile, we were left waiting, wondering where our food was, with little to no communication from anyone. Each time we asked about our missing dishes, we were told, "Just one minute." Ten minutes later, there was still no food. After waiting so long, I finally asked to cancel the remaining dishes. About five minutes later, one of the dishes was brought out anyway without any explanation. I told the waitress that we had already canceled it, and she simply said "okay," took the dish, and walked away. A few minutes later, another staff member brought out the other canceled dish and told us it was complimentary and that we could take it to go if we weren't hungry. The issue was never about getting free food. I wasn't looking for free food.I brought my daughter here for her birthday because I believed this was a nice restaurant that would provide a memorable experience. Instead of leaving with happy memories from my daughter's birthday celebration, we left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and upset. The lack of communication, poor service, and overall handling of the situation completely overshadowed what should have been a special evening.
