I really wanted to like Good Neighbor Cà Phê because the location is great and the space has a nice vibe, but the food and drinks were a huge disappointment. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese coffee, this isn't it. The coffee almost tastes artificial, lacking the rich, bold flavor and depth you'd expect. It feels more like an imitation than the real thing. I also tried the matcha, and it was equally underwhelming: flat, bland, and not worth the price. With so many excellent coffee shops around town, it's hard to justify coming here. It feels like they're trying to be something they're not instead of delivering an authentic experience. Good neighbor coffee We pleasantly stumbled upon this place after stopping by Kirari West! This place is a gem. Strong coffee with excellent menu of tasty caffeinated drinks with a modern interior. Staff is friendly too. I would have loved to order something, but I couldn't have any of the milk substitutes because it's only oat, almond, 2%, or whole milk options. I hope they add coconut or soy in the future! My husband had their good neighbor coffee, and it is DELICIOUS. Sweet with excellent flavors because of the orange, cinnamon, and vanilla syrup. The shop was very open and had lots of tables for those wanting to get to get some work done or sit and talk with a friend. I was pretty excited for a creamy matcha given it had coconut cream in it, but I was a bit disappointed with how watery the drink tasted. The flavor of the matcha wasn't as flavorful as I hoped either. I tasted more coconut cream than the mango or matcha. I ended up trying the Pandan Vanilla Matcha and it was solid with a nice flavor profile. Overall, I enjoyed the laid back and community vibes of the shop. I was initially drawn to this location because of the Vietnamese iced coffee, but upon further investigation of the menu, I couldn't stop myself from coming back to the Yuzu Matcha and immediately had to order it. I had Good Neighbor on my list for a bit but I know they were closed due to some issue so I was glad to see they were open the last time I was in the area. Their menu has some twists on your classics and I ended up trying their coconut cream house drink and it was delicious. Coffee was just the right balance and not overly sweet. A lot of coffee and matcha options and I think they only recently started offering hot or cold options (I think when they opened in the summer they were primarily making iced drinks). I also got the house special banh mi, which included pork slices and pate, and it really had an authentic flavor to it in a crispy roll. Have been a few times and am a fan. Prices are easier to stomach than nearby Lela's Bistro, which also serves Banh Mis one block away. They only opened a few months ago and have free wifi, so it's a decently quiet spot to get some work done, though outlet space is limited and the interior decoration feels a bit austere. The last time I went, I had the tiramisu mocha which was delicious and very rich. I haven't tried some of their more creative banh mi offerings, but their grilled pork is flavorful and fresh, with a good amount of meat, pickled veggies, etc. My one complaint - and this feels weird to complain about as a person who enjoys spice - is that the spice levels can be very uneven. I've eaten Baka Umai's Carolina Reaper ramen; I've had to convince cooks in Thailand that I can tolerate "thai spicy" dishes.
