It was very obvious and felt extremely disrespectful. When I tried to address my concerns, the situation only got worse. Sahan claimed he was the supervisor, but when I asked to speak with management, he refused and would not provide any way for me to contact someone above him. Rather than trying to help resolve the issue, he acted like he didn't care at all and made the whole interaction unnecessarily frustrating. On top of the poor attitude, he seemed unwilling to answer simple questions properly and came across as incompetent when handling basic customer service. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the issue, and no effort to treat customers fairly or professionally. I came here expecting good food and decent service, but the way I was treated left a terrible impression. Customers deserve respect, fairness, and professionalism regardless of who they are. Management seriously needs to pay attention to how staff members like Sahan are representing this business, because experiences like this are exactly why people choose not to come back.

I could personally probably skip their jhol momos (I've had better at another spot / I think I liked the other stuff we ordered better), but the sel roti was good and yummy especially since it's been years since I've had it. Mind you that I grew up in Shanghai, China, eating river fishes with a lot of bones was a right of passage. However, the meat tends to be very tender and flaky, warranting the time spent. This was not enjoyable at all. The Bhortha Platter came with eight different muxture of mashed vegetables. Some were interesting and some were just okay. Rest of the meal and desserts were quite average too. Nothing was terrible, maybe except the Mango Lassi. Anyway, I would definitely come back for the Jhura Beef. The sorisha ilish was the best dish we had even with the multitude of bones while the beef dishes were good enough and both of the appetizers were good to decent. I got a Borhani to drink for $4.99 which is a mix of sour curd/dol, green chili, mustard seeds, black salt, coriander and mint. The mustard flavor was nice and it was more sour than sweet as expected and I liked it. As noted by her, we shared the following dishes among 4 people (which a few people such as me ate with their hands while others used forks/knives/spoons.) The Chicken Lollipop which is $8 for 4 pieces was excellent. Nicely spiced/well seasoned chicken and the sauce that they gave had some sweetness and a good little kick of heat. The dish came with a few chilis. The Mini Naga Singara which is $6.49 for 4 pieces was a bit different with a mix of potato and some pieces of chili (presumably jwala) which again gave a bit of a kick. It was samosa like but not as crispy on the outside and came with some chopped cucumbers as well as two sauces; a a more oily version of the spicy sauce from the previous dish and an orange sauce which I couldn't exactly identify the flavor. For mains, the best was the Sorisha or Shorshe Ilish for $15.99 per piece of fish. Said ilish or hilsa refers to the main fish used; a type of herring which is prized in Bangladesh. As we got three, the three were placed on the same platter which we didn't know to begin with but that was fine. There were tiny bones which was fine to deal with as it was accompanied by a delicious sauce. It had a bit of a mustard flavor but also reminded me for some reason of Macher Dim from Masalawala & Sons as I'm pretty sure there was also some roe in there. The sauce in short was delicious and went quite well with the rice. My favorite of the two meat dishes by a lot was the Khulnar Chui Jhal Beef which is $19.99. Apparently, chui jhal refers to a unique spice made from the roots of a pepper which added a unique flavor which I've never had before. It had an aroma to it and had a slight pungency. The beef in this dish was better as it was much more tender with only a few pieces being a bit chewy with the roasted garlic in there being delicious. The beef was off the bone in this dish compared to the one below and was just better tasting. The Chattgaiyya Mezbani Beef for $18.99 was alright. The sauce was a tad oily and the beef was unfortunately a bit too chewy for my liking. This dish is apparently supposed to be spicy but ours wasn't so I'm curious if they toned down the flavor a bit. It had good onion flavor and was nicely aromatic but otherwise, I'd recommend other dishes. Rating this place is a little bit difficult. There were some issues as noted and one of the beef dishes was just OK while the fish was excellent. Charging that much for water ($2) and rice ($3.99 each time per refill) is also just not right and rice is pretty necessary if you want to eat as much of the delicious sauces as possible. 1 excellent dish. 3 good dishes. 1 alright dish. 3.5 so 4 but barely.

Noodles were OK, wasn't anything extraordinary--we just wanted something warm and hearty. We had wanted to try their momos and dal bhat but figured we'd save that for next time. Service was pretty slow and lackluster, if I'm being honest. They have about 4, 4-people tables and it was less than 10 customers in total when we arrived (and throughout our stay), so it wasn't packed or super busy. One thing that I'd really like to point out that I couldn't help but notice is to CHECK YOUR BILL. I immediately noticed the odd itemized price before the subtotal and realized that they gave us a receipt that automatically factored in a 4% credit card fee on the food BEFORE the subtotal. I asked our waitress about this and she kept saying, "I don't know why," (which I'm sure is the truth) but didn't really do anything to help and didn't offer to print out pricing with cash. This last part--hitting us with the credit card fee bill and lack of help/concern--set us off, even though we really want to support a new, local business. Manaslu Cafe, not being transparent isn't great business practice, and it's early enough for you to go back and change this and note the credit card fee vs cash payment price.
