The term 5.11 originated from the climbing/mountain world to indicate the highest rock climbing difficulty level. However, now there are even higher levels, 5.12, up to 5.14. This store has equipment, apparel and gear for the serious outdoors/adventure- rough-tuff, serious-bad ass person. Their products are primarily targeted for military personnel, law enforcement, first responders, firefighters or serious outdoor survivalists. I have purchased several items from 5.11 since its early inception due to my long years of service in the USMC from 1998 to 2007. Many of the gear I have from 5.11 have endured the test of time, combat and rough terrain. Today, I still purchased their products since they also have a wide choice of urban, city wear with unique and versatile use.

Even once we finally got someone's attention, it took forever just to have shoes brought out for us to try on. But the most ridiculous part was when we actually tried to make a purchase. The shoes we wanted were marked with a "CLEARANCE" tag, yet when we went to check out, there was no clearance price or discount applied. When I questioned it, I was told they apparently hadn't determined what the clearance discount was yet and could offer me 5% off. If you don't know what the clearance price is, perhaps don't put a clearance tag on the merchandise. Offering 5% off at that point was insulting. We walked out without purchasing anything and I'll never return. This is why online shopping is taking over. These stores do not offer any type of customer service.

When realized and didn't want it, the young lady w the headscarf on register 1 told me I had to pay for it since It had already been processed. I spoke to another associate and he said "that was a mistake on management for not training her properly" I was out 120 and all they told me was "sorry" I now have to wait to get that money returned back into my account. I showed up to get a Grey Combo pair of LA Gear Rambler Men's Running Shoes and black Denali Aletian men's outdoor shoes. Lo and behold... they had both! My prices were both on the online add as I paid $21.99 and $19.00 respectively for a total of $40.99 plus tax $3.18, grand total $44.17. Instead of $29.99 and $25.99, total $55.98 plus tax (almost $60 grand total). So I saved about $16!!! Thank you Big 5! I scored today!!!
