Came highly recommended and I must say it was very good. Restaurant is on the second floor of a boat barn. No elevator, so had to make the hike. Venue had a bar and about 12 tables. We were lucky to get a corner table with two views of the water and dockside boats. Wifey ordered the blackened salmon with green beans and a baked potato. Salmon was prepared perfectly with ample slices. Sides were a little disappointing. Beans were canned and potato was medium in size. Server recommended the stuffed flounder for me. It consisted of a modest slab of flounder topped with crab meat and covered with shrimp scampi sauce. Flavor was good, but price was steep. Came with canned green beans and cole slaw. Beans had a Smokey taste. Would return for another visit. View was excellent and server was very attentive. It was Sunday night with live music on the dock. Beautiful setting for a meal. read more

The restaurant was not amazing but better than other places in the area. After a couple hours boating my husband and I stopped by for a small bite to eat and drinks. The upstairs and patio we're both open and since it was a little chilly decided to eat inside. The place was really busy. We were greeted right away and seated near the window. The interior was nothing special and similar to most Coastal bars. I ordered the Edistini which is a very dirty martini. It was a little too dirty for me (heavy on olive juice). I got a cup of the she crab soup which was good but the same time there were cold pieces of crab. Not sure that's how it's supposed to be served but it was good. We ordered the fried shrimp platter dinner. The two of us shared it and I was surprised that it's quite a bit of a large order and the shrimp were a good size. Other places I've gone in the island have been tiny shrimps. Typically, I am known to eat a portion made for two so I was impressed with the size of the shrimp and that meal filled up the two of us. Nice place with great dockside views and live music. Food options are very limited but outside bar carry's all the essential for enjoying a day on the deck overlooking the docks. A must stop for your trip to Edisto. Great views from all windows, an area to eat outside, and you can even pull your boat up and park. We tried a little bit of everything but I must say the grilled flounder, coleslaw and grits were my absolute favorites. A must stop for sure! read more

Food: Good but expensive. Service: Friendly Ambiance: Loud Negatatives: Handicap violation. There is no elevator to the dining area. Once you climb the stairs to the dining area, you discover there are no restrooms up there. To a person with no handicaps, this may be just an annoyance. To a person with a walking handicap this is a big deal. The staff was apologetic but I'm sure this is a code violation. There are at least 20 stair treads. There should, at least, be a sign at the bottom of the stairs saying "Non handicap accessible, no restrooms". So, if you are handicapped, just be aware of this issue before you drive there. There were several handicap parking spaces. Go figure. read more

We put our names in to be served and the hostess told us that it would be a 2 hour wait. We happily accepted and sat on the back deck (funding the bar for the time we waited). We waited for the entire two hours and were not called or served during that time. We went up to hostess stand after an hour and 20 minutes and were told that there were 8 parties in front of us. There were a few things that brought this down from a 5 star review. My wife has some food allergies and it was hard for her as the only side she could end up eating were fries and baked potato. We made the drive so my husband could get fried seafood and it was worth it! They will not seat you until 4:30 so if you arrive early you can get a drink at the bar and if they have enough space you can stay at the bar, if not you have to wait downstairs on the dock.... it was alittle too cold for that so thankfully there was enough space at the bar! We were seated right at 4:30 and our server was there within minutes! I ordered the pick 2, I chose fried oysters and fired Edisto creek shrimp. Tons of shrimp!! My husband and I went here after a long day at the beach. We're from out of town, and the reviews here were great. Unfortunately, we didn't have a good time. The service was impeccable. We loved our waitress. The problem was the food. I ordered the parmesan crusted grouper, it was more so drenched in parmesan cheese, it was so greasy, I had to scrape the cheese off. The grease drenched everything on my plate. Besides that, the grouper was good without the 8oz of cheese on top. The slaw was phenomenal, and baked potato was good. Nothing extraordinary. My husband ordered the clam strips, fries and potato, those were fine. We had the mozzarella sticks, they were good. Our waitress was great about keeping our drinks topped off and checking in on us. For those 3 dishes, 2 drinks, and the tip. It cost us around 100$. Definitely not worth the price for the quality of food. With that, we won't be back just because of the food. It made my stomach upset from the amount of cheese/ grease. But the service was great. And everyone was super friendly. read more

Another all time favorite of ours when visiting Edisto Island. We've been coming here since the late 1990s and always have one or more dinners here. During this latest trip we had an amazing meal and service. The flounder, shrimp and scallops were perfectly prepared, as was the crab stuffed flounder and shrimp and grits. Appetizers were also amazing (bang bang shrimp and hush puppies). Local beer selection very good. Our server, Reese, was so nice and attentive. Cannot beat the view of the river - from the deck, we saw dolphins frolicking afterwards. A wonderful experience!! read more

We ate dinner with friends one time and returned for another dinner with just my husband and I the next time. The dinner with friends was delicious to me because of the parmesan crusted grouper, even though it was very rich and I took half of it with me. my cheese grits were not warm but the Cole Slaw was delicious. The Sauvignon Blanc that we shared was very flavorful. My husband thought his calamari appetizer was too heavily breaded, low on spices accompanied by a bland dipping sauce. His she crab soup was served luke warm. The second time we visited, the wasabi tuna appetizer was delicious with the wasabi clearing our sinuses, but my crab cakes were mushy and unflavorful. The slaw and red rice tasted like leftovers, as opposed to being freshly made. The Key Lime Pie was really a tart that was too heavy on the crust and too little on the pie portion. However, my husband's entree of the Chilean sea bass was prepared perfectly and delicious, making me wish I'd ordered that. The red rice side dish was the best item on the side dishes. read more

We were recommend this place to eat from where we were staying. We arrived at 730 and were told possible hour to an hour and a half wait. They close at 9 so we were a little hesitant but decided to wait it out. We left our number and waited downstairs as there is no waiting room on the second floor (where you order and eat). Downstairs there is a boat docking, live music and a cash bar. If you walk out there is a little park with benches. The wait was only about 20 minutes. Inside there is only room for about 50 - 60 people. Lighting was not too dim but not too bright. Appetizer, calamari, came out very quickly. Hamburger steak was a hit with everyone. I had the ahi tuna. It was delicious. I would have liked a little more glaze with that size of tuna. My husband got the stuffed flounder and said the fish tasted good with the sauce but alone it tasted a little bland. The shrimp is always a favorite. They were crispy and very tasteful. The server was very soft spoken and sweet. She came often to check on us and never let our drinks be empty. I would love to go back to try more plates. read more

The food here is subpar at best. I got the bacon wrapped scallop skewers and the scallops were so overcooked they looked like McNuggets and were hard as rocks. They swapped out the skewers for regular broiled scallops and those were cooked well but inedible salt bombs. The calamari for the table was lackluster, with bland, almost soggy breading. The salads were ok, but just salad. The shrimp and grits portion is so generous, but the dish is so overly rich and dense. The space is fun, on the smaller side, with fantastic views of the water. Bring a jacket, the AC is kicking and not adjustable. We went when the outside air was about 60 and it was freezing. Also of note, the restaurant is upstairs and the parking lot is gravel so it's not very ADA friendly. The absolute saving grace of our experience was our server, Dany. She is excellent at anticipating issues, accommodating and friendly. She asks all the right questions to get your meal just right, but to no fault of hers, obviously can't control the quality of the food preparation. She is top-notch! read more

The service was quite adequate and the staff was friendly. The food was a bit better than mediocre. The kitchen was out of several dishes. The calamari was inedible due to the salt. When we told the server she said "oh no! I wish you had told me sooner. I would have fixed it for you '" ( whenever she came near our table, she barely stopped for a second. She did check on us right after we received the calamari, but before we found the salt lick on the food) After saying "oh no!" Etc, she gave us the bill still charging us for inedible food. The food was overpriced to begin with, for which we didn't have a problem, but I expect to be able to get my money's worth. We are here for a week and it's located 3 minutes from our room. Super nice waitress and hosts! And yummy food! The mozzarella sticks really were exciting to me, I'm already thinking about making them at home. The parmesan crusted grouper was AWESOME. Highly recommend!! Confusing entrance though. Gps made me turn into the wrong drive, but it was easy enough to tell where to park. But getting in the door... well, I missed the sign on the right wall telling me to go up the set of stairs in the center walkway of the building. Heck, I didn't notice those particular stairs the first walk through. Not a huge deal though :) Little pricey but everywhere on the island is. And personally I'd say it was worth it. read more

If I could give Pressley's zero stars I would. Let's start with how absolutely ridiculous it is to figure out how to get into this restaurant. We had no idea where to park and after two tries found that the lot in front is not just for the park, but also where you park for Pressley's. When we walked toward the building it was VERY dark and not lit at all. There's a sign for the staff entrance but nothing saying where you go in as a customer. After my oldest walked onto the dark dock area, he found stairs heading up. We decided to try them and found them to be the entrance. Once inside we were greeted after a few minutes and taken to our table. The inside is cute, clean, and was noisier than most places. Our hostess gave us the menus and walked away. When the server came over she had a basket of crisps and a dip and said it was complimentary and we were pleasantly surprised by this. She was absolutely not friendly. In fact, picture the opposite of a friendly server and that was her. We ordered waters to start and I think it set her off bc she visibly rolled her eyes and walked away. When she returned she never asked if we had questions, just came yo take our order, then walked away. There were two or three other servers, all wearing Pressley's t-shirts... they were girls in their 20s or so and VERY outgoing and friendly with their tables. They were laughing, smiling, and so pleasant. Then there was our server... who to be honestly appeared to be an owner or manager bc she was not in casual clothes, looked to be in her early 50s or so, and was dressed up in dress pants and a nice top. Our food came and it was okay- nothing to write home about. We were honestly surprised by how expensive everything was. I got the she crab soup and it was $11. Drinks were $4 each which is why we saved $16 by drinking water. While most places on Edisto are expensive, I found the lack-luster service to make the experience not worth the money. What's unfortunate is that was spending the day at the beach we met another family and we got to talking about dining experiences on the island. They too had a horrible experience at Pressley's and had the same server. Another couple was listening in and said they were planning on going there that night, but would be finding another place after hearing our stories. I guess if you're lucky enough to get a good server MAYBE you could have a good experience, but between that, the price tag, and the weird hidden way to enter, you're better off giving up the hunt and going somewhere else. read more

I hate to do it, but again, I have to admit that I was disappointed with this restaurant. We used to go here when it was Sunset Grill (I think?) way back when, and I guess it changed management. BTW, we weren't too fond of the foods back then, but loved the view. First of all, I'll start with the positives. We love the marina view from this restaurant...and we also enjoyed the walk around the pier. Also, I liked their patio area...which was somewhat used for folks on the waiting list. Now, that's where my initial aggravation began. The wait for this place is LOOONG. We got here just after 5 pm, and we had to wait 50 minutes. It has to be because of the marina location/view. The restaurant itself looked much different than what I remembered back when (under another name)...and in a way, nicer than before. Still, it's not a fancy restaurant...but just another local joint with a casual, beachy vibe. Also, the service was fine...no major issues. Now comes the disappointment...with the food. As much as we've been coming here for decades, I should be used to mediocre foods in Edisto...but somehow, I keep hoping for better. Especially now that they (like many other restaurants since Covid/Inflation) jacked up the price points. Majority of the entree items on the menu were around 30 bucks...so of course, I expected more. Well...Despite the lofty pricing, the foods were very basic...basically on par with your common fish camps. I ordered the Flounder and Scallops, with their sides, Red Rice and Cole Slaw (both served in plastic cups, no less!). Overall, the foods were just not that good. Same with their ridiculously pricey Fried Calamari....which was just too salty and chewy, not crispy (just NOT good!). My husband didn't seem too thrilled with the foods either. Sadly, I thought Showmars and Pier 51 was better...not just in taste, but in presentation. I just don't understand the pricing for these not-so-great foods with zero effort in presentation at that (see my pics, and see if you disagree). Again, it must be the beach/marina location...*SIGH* So...basically, just as before with Sunset Grill (??), we loved the views...but not the foods. read more

Went with a group of 7 on a weekday. Great Friendly service, great selection and 'specials'. You can tell this is a favorite of the locals as it seems quite a few knew each other and would join another table instead of leaving when they were done with their meal! Two in our party had the special of the evening, Crab Cake Benedict and loved them, I had a bacon wrapped scallop dish that had been on the menu in the past and was just brought back! And I can see why, it was wonderful. Try the soups, and although I am not normally a fan of grits, try them there!! read more

This is a mixed review. PROS: The she crab soup was excellent. The spring roll appetizer was wonderful (but my guess not made in house). The views are nice. CONS: The appetizer came WITH our dinner, not before. My husband's shrimp scampi was interesting. Shrimp was good, pasta was overcooked and broken in short strands. I had ordered broiled shrimp and red rice and green beans. Shrimp was fine. Red rice was barely room temperature. Green beans were canned! What restaurant serves canned vegetables?!?! It took two tries to make a dirty martini and then they charged us $17.50 for one drink! This place needs a restaurant intervention and it would be great. $90 for our meal was insulting. read more
